Zune Zune MP3 Player with 80GB* Hard Drive - Red
I absolutely love my zune. Once I figured out how to manage the various programs, I put everything I could on it. I carry it everywhere and proudly use it to show off my pictures. Best of all, are the playlists. I can listen to hours of my favorite music based on how I categorized them.

Zune Zune MP3 Player with 80GB* Hard Drive - Red
Zune 80GB (red)--purchased over iTouch and over Samsung YP-2P Widescreen, and very happy I did. For those who like FM radio, Zune is preferable to iPod. User interface is straightfoward (though learning how to turn unit off entirely to save battery life is important and not obvious). I've downloaded extensive music collection onto the unit, and more than a dozen full length movies from dvd. Spent some time on the internet to figure out best way to rip/decode dvds, shrink them, and then encode the files to a format that synced well with Zune device. After a week or so of experimenting, I found that well known and safe freeware programs could transcode movies in both full screen (320x240) and widescreen formats (320 x 180) compatible with Zune. Full length feature movies use about half a gig, so there's room for quite an audio and video library on the Zune. This capacity for only slightly higher price made Zune preferable to Samsung unit above.

Unit is solidly built. I bought a hard (metal)

Loved it, Huge Color screen, full support for any Music format. (you will have to convert any videos to wmp though) Excelent choice for a portable hard drive too. AND YOU DON"T NEED ITunes!!!! Greatest part of it.
5 stars BUY IT.

Zune Zune MP3 Player with 80GB* Hard Drive - Red
I bought it because I dropped my Zen W hard, really hard and broke it and the prices on Zens at that time had doubled. I wanted a player that was compatible with Napster because I love Napster, but there were none in the comparable price range with Zune. When I found out that Zune has it's own subscription service which in theory was just like Napster, I bit.

But it's so unintuitive, slow, regulated, allows me so little choice about how I sort my music, I just bought another Zen. Even though I'll have to redo all my playlists for the second time in just a few months, it's WELL worth it to be rid of the Zune. In the long run, it will save me time and frustration.

The sad truth about this product is that it is typical of the lazy, let's put the least effort into that we can and they'll buy it anyway mentality that Microsoft has had for years. When Word and Excel first came out, they were revolutionary, but aside from some minor cosmetic stuff, despite many expensive upgrades, they

Zune Zune MP3 Player with 80GB* Hard Drive - Red
I REALLY wanted to like this Zune. My excellent 20 GB Zen Sleek Photo is out of space, and no one seems to be making 30 GB + units anymore other than Zune. After dedicating the better part of two full days of my life to getting this thing running, I have finally thrown in the towel and instead will get a second (used) Zen Sleek Photo. Here are the problems:

1. Zune is incompatible with Windows Media Player (WMP).

Are you kidding me? Microsoft (MS) has spent the last 10 years coaxing consumers to use WMP, and now they sell an MP3 player that is incompatible with it? ASSININE.

Instead, you have to use Zune software, reestablish your library and playlists. Yes, there are hacks/workarounds that will let you use WMP instead, but be ready to invest some time in them.

2. Zune will not play songs protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM).

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The 883 songs I BOUGHT AND PAID FOR from Microsoft's own MSN Music, Wal-Mart, and Puretracks cannot be played on Zune? But

Zune Zune MP3 Player with 80GB* Hard Drive - Red
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RKZOJFIAQ7319 I have to first say that I got a great deal on this player and did not include this in my final rating. For $138+tax new it was too good to pass up.

I give a quick rundown of the player.
I like many aspects but too many things I hate for this to score any higher.

I have been an ipod user for years and still appreciate ipod products. However, I did get a Zune 80GB and it is simply outstanding. The screen, battery time, durability, and scroll pad are just much better than I had expected. The device is sturdy and steady. I was just surprised by how much I like it. My friends and family, also ipod users, have also been very impressed. If you are on the fence, consider all options but you really should give Zune products a close look.

Instead of reading through detailed reviews, i'll give you the lowdown on the Zune 80.

Having owned Ipods before, i have to admit, the Ipods are fantastic, no question about it, but after playing with the Zune 80 for a couple of weeks, I have to say that the new generation of Zune's is definitely better than the Ipod classic - here are my reasons:

1) Ease of Use - it's easier to use than the Ipod. Can't believe it? go try a zune menu - it just makes sense the way it works. No digging for items, it's all there. Podcast Support - everything is there.

2) Built in RDS FM Radio - shows stations, etc. What more can you want, unlimited music to go, and great reception

3) Huge 3" screen with optical glass cover - better than the Ipod.

4) Wireless syncing of music to your computer - no more cables!

5) Touch sensitive wheel like Ipod AND tactile (click) sensitive. Best of both worlds!

And it plays all your MP3s...forget the DRM crap - put your MP3s on it, and it all works fine.

The downsides?

So I'm not going to go into the grueling details here because there are 312 other reviews and most of them probably did so already. Instead, I'll give you the quick and easy version.

I had another MP3 player based on the older removable flash storage technology, and I thought it was time to upgrade. I wanted something with enough storage to hold movies and photos and music because I frequently take trans-Pacific flights for work and get super-bored.

I considered the iPod so I began talking to all my co-workers, but so many had problems with theirs including easily-scratched screens, drive failures after fairly minor mishaps, and not one person showed any fondness for iTunes.

So my wife got me the Zune 80 as a present. I've used it now for 4 month and here's my take on it:

The GOOD: Big storage, gigantic screen, wifi for syncing and sending music to other users, the Zune-pad is awesome (works like a clickable mousepad), and the Zune marketplace is nice. It's tough enough too...
