My unit broke after 35 days of moderately heavy use (5-10 hours/day, DVD player only; never got to use the VCR). Note: it broke 5 days after Amazon's 30-day return period, but started showing symptoms about 10 days before it stopped playing DVDs entirely (see below). To take advantage of Samsung's Limited Warranty, I must mail the unit (at my own expense) to the nearest authorized Samsumg repair center, two states away.
For approximately 10 days prior to it's demise, the unit started to have difficulty moving between submenus and became very slow and sometimes noisy. It also started to cause light and dark bands to appear horizontally on my TV.
One final minor annoyance: there is no "Audio" button on the remote control that allows the user to easily switch between audio tracks (at least, that I could find). Since I often listen to shows in Spanish or with commentary, I found it a bit cumbersome to have to go into the unit's (somewhat confusing) on-screen menu.

One month after buying this product, and after playing dvd's for approximately four hours, I can no longer play dvd's on it. It wont read any dvds I put in. Unfortunately I threw away my warranty so I have little recourse. I would rate this product zero stars were that option available.

This is an excellent product and one that is increasingly more difficult to find. I highly recommend it. It saved me space in my entertainment cabinet.
