I guess everything is said. COD4 is the best FPS game I ever played. It has all the stuff: precise gaming, good story, not many bugs (even when sometimes some friends or enemies do some fun stuff), and the most important think is that the story is fluid in time (not applicable for example for Killzone II, where your friends die and then suddenly is waiting for you some steps ahead or an entire crew is waiting for your arrival after you are the first entering the scene; you wont find that in COD4). Really a must for lovers of FPS. The only thing I can criticize from the game is that it is pretty short, but then you can start playing online.

I already own this game on the XBOX 360, and have paid for the additional maps. Recently, I purchased a PS3, and bought this game (again) to play with my friends on the PSNetwork. As some of the others here have mentioned, this version does not come with a token to download the maps. It's only $10, but I feel like Activision has scammed the consumers. When this Game Of The Year Edition came out, it came with a code to download the map. Meanwhile, they've quietly pulled the download token from the boxes, while most everyone - including me, believed that this version contains said token. [...] Well, there you have it. Buyer beware.

This game was for my husband. I really enjoyed it. He is fairly new to PS3, so he sometimes has trouble figuring out what to do in games, but this one was easy to pick up. The drawback is he completed the game fairly quickly.

This game was truly awesome when it came out. i was really addicted to it and i was always playing it online and with friends. the single player is fine, but its the multiplayer that made it really really fun. anyways, nowadays, theres a lot of cheating on the multiplayer. completely ruins the game. i don't know if its the playstation network that stopped moderating it or if infinity ward just decided not to worry about it anymore. but it sucks to put money and so much time and effort into a game building up scores and such that eventually it just becomes pointless. so i would say don't buy because its just not fun anymore. i really hope modern warfare 2 has a little bit more moderation, but im going to hold off on buying that. maybe ill get an xbox or get it on the computer.

It is a great and fun game for endless hours of fun. Difficulty could range from 1 to 5 beacuse it depends the mode you pick. Story is well planned and played out. Theres arcade modes to try to rack up more points then your friends. Ok time to review online gameplay. Online is really quality made. The many guns you can choose from makes the game keep on going. I would reccommend CoD4 Modern Warfare "Game Of the Year Edition" because its a great game and in the Game of the year edition you get a free map pack. A mappack is bonus maps.

this game is the best game ever.the game keeps you on the egde of your site when you walk around the corner you dont know what could happen someone could shoot at you or they could try and stabb you or it could be a very bomb at your feet.so when you ready to go into a dark room use your night vision and be careful

Best shooter game ever.. I strongly recommend this game for teenagers with ps3 or xbox 360. No fantasy and old weapons, the weapons that are in the game are the ones that us marines and sas use in real life.

I bought this game like a month ago and so far it was the best 50 dollars i spent in my entire life. I really recomend this game to all teenagers with a PS3 or a XBOX 360.

I like the fact all COD games use about the same controls. I love the fact that we got out of WWII. Didn't know we could play the same war so many different ways. I enjoy the newer weapons and the game play is smooth.

This is listed as the game of the year edition. Not the regular version. The only difference is you are supposed to have a leaf inside the case with a code for 4 maps that are included in the purchase. It didn't come with them. It just contains the case, the disc, and the manual. No code leaf, no "register with Activision" papers that come with every game ever, kinda bare. Looks like a repackaged used game, almost. I wonder... But anyways, remember that NO CODES = NO MAPS. I've read some reviews and I'm not the only one with this problem. Gonna contact amazon, because I don't like being scammed. Bad amazon! BAAAAD AMAZON!

What a game. I loved every single moment of this game, from the training course to the very end. The multiplayer is a different story, call it what it is, virtual crack. I have never played any multiplayer game that was as much fun, addicting as the call of duty 4 multiplayer. You have a great variety of gunsm you can customize the guns to your liking, when you unlock certain challenges, you can give your gun a different camouflage, and there is a neutral playing field in cod 4. there is not 1 bad gun in cod 4, and there are not as many "noobs" in cod 4 as in cod 5. in cod 5 at least half of the people you play with use the mp40 because it is one of the few good guns in the game. my friend got cod 4 just for the multilayer, it is that great.

ive had this game for more than a year and it is the best game i own. i love all the different guns you get in it and the graphics are outstaning. this is a must have game.

this game was amazing the story and the online but not many people will probably be on it after the new one comes out but id play it if you havent the only bad thing about this one is there was no trophies

This game is awesome! The online multiplayer is very deep and the player is able to select perks according to his or her playstyle. Ive got about 5 days of playtime in it already and I can't get enough! The PSN community is very cool and mature as well. 5 stars!

If this game came without having any single player/offline mode at all it would still be worth every penny. The leveling system in the multiplayer mode is well designed and leads to extremely addictive gaming habits. The features and perks that you gain as you level up are fun and valuable but at the same time its very easy for a level 1 player to compete with a player who is a much higher level if they have a similar skill level. That is to say that the perks and benefits that come with leveling do not make the game lopsided and ruin the fun for those who are just starting out. The online community for this game is huge and you will have no troubles jumping right into a game.

I felt that the game was too short. I play slow and will have a game for a while before completing it and this game was over and done with like a cheap date. Except it wasn't a cheap date. If you like the series you wont mind the broken disconnected feel of the gameplay. I think this game could be better. If you would like to know my taste I would rate Fear and Resistance Fall of Man as better in all respects.

Finally they got away from the old world war genre and moved on to something different. This is what stands out from other shooters you really feel like your fighting for something. Am not much of a "gamer" but this game is in my top 5 list as being one of the best shooters i've evr played.

lets start by saying even though this is the game of year edition, which supposedly is supposed to have the new maps included, it doesnt, nor did i get a code to download the maps at no charge...so i do not know why they released this as the game of the year edition.
other than that i am not a big FPS fanatic. to be honest, i thought games like halo, medal of honor, and doom were stupid. i beat halo 1 on legendary, even though the last level was frustrating trying to beat the time limit and i had to keep at it to finally get it, and medal of honor series was ok, none of them kept my attention. the last shooter games i liked were goldeneye and perfect dark for N64. since then EA has butchered the 007 games and i wont even play them anymore.

If you are a fan of multiplayer first person shooters, look no further! I've tried Battlefield: Bad Company (which is fun), COD World at War (great), Resistance FOM (eh, OK), Team Fotress 2 (different, but good) and Killzone 2 (still getting used to it, but cool). This is the game that they all want to be! Congrates to Activision and Infinity Ward for coming out with this breakthough game.

I havent played MODERN WARFARE for a while but a few weeks ago, I picked it up and started playing it again. I am hooked all over again!! Where to start? First let me say this game has already won "GAME OF THE YEAR". My entire reason for buying a PS3 sysem was to play this game, after I played this game at my friends.

Perhaps the best war game in viedeogame history is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It's great for the multiplayer combat battles and online. The graphics are amazing and the weapons are insane. I peronsally love this game beacuse it is a great game for just hanging out with your buddies and playing online. Not only that, you get an idea of what war is really like in Iraq. I have owned the game for 1 year now and i continue playing it. This game is worth the money.

Call of Duty 4 has been out for a year now and its still kicking. Its online crowd took a blow with the release of COD 5 but it is still one of the best fps ever created. If you havent expirienced this award winning game yet, its time! You wiill not be dissapointed.

When I first got this game I didn't know what to expect. But when I started it up I was blown away! The graphics are amazing, the online is flawless, and ranking up is an extremely fun challenge. But since I only have 2 controllers me and my brother can only do 2 player split screen and that gets a little boring. Plus the lack of co-op was disappointing.

This game is totally awesome and you absolutely must play this online. It completely changes the entire dynamic of the game when you play online because every single player you play online is a real person somewhere and you progress upward from a private all the way to who knows what! Also this game is barely an M rating and I think it should have gotten a T rating. There is a very small amount of red splatter when you take someone out. Don't let the M scare you off, it's really an awesome soldier game.

This game is amazing. It's seriously the best first person shooter game to date.. Screw Halo, Killzone, and anyother first person. This game has it all.. Online play is unbeatable, even when you've reached the supposed pinnacle you can prestige up to 10 times and keep it fun, if you choose not to prestige its still a blast to play with your friends online... until Modern Warfare 2, this game won't be beaten... this game is like a drug or like the perfect woman, you get one piece of it and you are hooked. this is by far the best game i have ever played. i have so many days logged and i still can't wait to get home and get on it. the only bad part is that i wonder if they will ever come close to making a game this good. world at war is good but is not even close to cod4. if you don't have it get it you will be addicted.

Only get this game for the online multiplayer. the single player is way to short. Trust me, you will hate this game for how addictive it is.....you wont ever want to touch your other games again. prestige mode is so simple but it's genious!!!!

Just to alert all the people buying the Game of the Year edition, DON'T WASTE your money. The standard version of this fantastic game is exactly the same and NO you don't get the 4 extra maps that many of the other reviews say you do. Maybe it has changed recently or whatever but the fact is now you no longer get extra maps. The maps cost $10 on the Playstation Network so find a cheaper copy and save your money. But the game is worth your hard earned penny if you like shooters.
If you don't this may be the one to draw you in. Anti-war supporters (which I am) might find the somewhat pro-war message of this game hard to swallow.

Great game. I had played the multiplayer with a friend on XBox and it was even better on PS3. Controls are easy to learn, and the game is very well to adapt to your skills. Multiplayer is fun too with the 4 person split screen. Great game, well recommended if you like military games or shooters. makes you feel like you are a Marine.

Oh my god. I have never played a game as good as this. I've played halo gears, ghost reacon, and other first- person shooter, this is the best by far. Conquest is awesome! It's like you're actually in the war. Dialogue really brings the game to life. Online is awesome. Team deathmatch is great. If your bad and on recruit for conquest you will have your butt blown off. If you love first-person shooters, then your crazy not to get this. ADD TO CART!

This game is truely worth the purchase. I first went into Best Buy and purchased the star wars force unleashed game the day it came out. I did not open it and read a ton of reviews about how it was fun but very fast, so I then took the game back and picked up Call of Duty 4 with the help of the sales associate in the Sherman Oaks store. The game came highly recommended and I am glad that I purchased it. The graphics are amazing. I am not much of a story reader and like to fast-forward my way through, and this allows you to do that. You do have to wait for the occasional chapter loading, but that goes by quickly. I do not like to read manuals, so it took me about an hour to realize I could change weapons easily which helped alot! But, once that was all settled, it was a very exciting game. I blew through the easy level in a good amount of time for a beginner, and just finished the hard level, which I would definately recommend. Now I cannot wait for the online play. This is a great realistic first person shooter. Playing online is a must with this one! You can upgrade your weapons as you continue to complete objectives. I would highly recommend this one to anyone that is a fan of the genre.

Awesome. This game is indescribable, only playing it to feel what it looks like. I used to prefer playing FPS games in PC, but this one is amazing. If the next COD game matches with Modern Warfare and add more weapons, it will beat in every shooting games for PS3.

I have never played any game for very long before I got tired of it, but this game has been so fun I can't stop playing it. You can hook up with your friends online and play as a team. I have never played any game as many hours as I have this one and anybody that loves great graphics and cool weapons will love to play this game.

this game is a must buy if you enjoy 1st person shooters. i love the online play except for the fact that servers act weird sometimes but they usually work pretty well. the campaign mode is a little short but yet what game isnt these days. i reccomend buying this game if you have a ps3 cause online play is FREE and fun

I was kind of skeptical to get this game for a while, but after all the rave reviews I read I broke down and bought it. Very good decision. The graphics are great, the gameplay is very fun because no two missions are the same. I'm not a big online player so my only real cons with this game are that the single player campaign mode is very short (i beat it in about 3 days) and there is no co-op option. Other than that this is a great game and i would definitely recommend this to anyone.

There is a nice effect of blurring distant objects allowing them to give more detail to the nearer objects and emphasize realism. It isn't perfect, but it serves to immerse the player nicely.

This is a great game with great graphics. I bought it for my boys and they just love it. They can't get enough of it. It can be a little graphic but it's really an amazing game. I'm not sorry I bought it, and I would buy it again if I had to do it all over. You won't be sorry if you get this game.

This is in my opinion the best ps3 game, as well as Resistance. It is the most realistic game so far. You almost feel like you're in the game. The graphics are amazing and the guns are very cool and realistic. The story is great and very fun to play, but like all games, the online play is my favorite. The ranks are fun to try to get and there is no lag on the ps3. I would get this game now even though the 5th one is coming out within the month. The new one is going to be about WWII and this is modern warefare, so they are probably going to be different. I think this will end up being better than cod5, so I'd go buy it now.

This game is incredibly fun and well written. The online multiplayer experience is great and typically doesn't have many issues. The only thing I didn't like was the $10 map pack. I'm not a big fan of downloadable content, and I didn't think I should have to pay $10 to keep playing along with everyone. This basically killed my streak of playing regularly. This game is unrivaled as far as graphics and gameplay go. The online is great-provided that the people you are playing with have headsets. I would recommend this to anyone who likes shooters. This game alone makes the PS3 worth buying. I'm slightly worried about the new COD because I highly doubt that they can top this. Going back to WWII is disappointing. Stick with COD4.

Call of duty 4: Modern Warfare id one of the most realistic games i have ever played if not the best, the graphics, gameplay and the game itself are very close to real life i would imagine with a extremeley fun story line that every one will enjoy. Definatley get this game

I play call of duty all the time and I absolutely love this game. The graphics are amazing. I tried other "war" games after playing COD and none could touch it. The online gameplay is awesome as well with extra maps available on PS Network. Storyline is pretty cool because it goes through most of the events leading up to and after the Chernobyl incident. My favorite mission was the C-130 mission and the "All Ghillied Up" mission. Play the game and you'll understand why it was voted Game of the Year!!!!

I have been playing this almost on a daily basis since it first came out. The Single player campaign is pretty good, but the multiplayer online portion is where the fun never ends. Most addicting game i have ever played. Im glad for once a good modern combat game has been put out. Its just fantasic. Endless non-stop fun. Check it out! the game has been out for awhile, but more people than ever play online and it never gets old!

This game keeps my husband playing for hours and hours. He is constantly after my two boys (both video game junkies) to play with him. Great game, great graphics. Note to wives - will give you some free time :)

I love this game! Very fun and the action is very cool. The only problem I have with the game and the only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that it is short. Other than that, it's a total blast.

If you love playing Unreal or Halo, this game will probably catch you off guard. However, in the recent surge of "realistic" shooters, COD4 really seems to take the cake. This was a good game. The feel that you were actually on the front lines was there but the single player is so darn short!!! I finished it in one day (with shopping and a 2 hour nap break!) And the multiplayer was OK. It looks great, feels great, but at least make it last a day!!!

Most of the reviews for this game are pretty dead on. This game is amazingly clear. I was never really good at the FPS games but this game is really simple to pick up and you learn the rest of the controls as the game goes on. The online play is also a lot of fun where you can spend extra hours just online which gives the game great replay value once you are done with the main story. amazing game all around. just play it and you won't be disappointed.

played this thing for 360 and it of course was sick then when i got ps3 it was the 1st game i bought and it was even better the graphics on this game rules if you have a ps3 this game is a certian must have. not only would i recommend it to both the readers tof this and a friend i already have recommended it to a friend. the online to this game is THE BEST and when you play it with friends its better so you and all your friends with a ps3 should all buy it

This game has incredible life - like graphics and realistic sounds including landing, jumping, firing and picking up weapons. The only bad thing is the single player is much too short and i beat it in only one day. This game is worth the money.

This is one of the greatest games I have ever played. Online is awsome it is very fun and the graphics are just spectacular.

This was the first game I purchased for my PS3 and was blown away by the non stop heart pounding action. The graphics are unbelievable for being an older release. I couldn't believe the explosions and realism of this game.
All the levels were great, not a dull moment.
I was a little disappointed with how quick of a play this game was. I beat it in a little less than two day's. I'm not an online gamer so I definitely haven't taken advantage of the full potential of this game.
I'll just keep playing through on the different skill sets until Ive had my COD fix.

This is the best game ever. It was so fun to own all of my friends!!!! The online play is so fun, i had trouble putting the game down. The weapons are so realistic (I love the sniper rifle). I so reccomend this game, mostly on ps3!!!!!!!!!!!!!

id recommend one play the single player mode first to get used to the feel of the game, especially if you are new to first person shooters. it is definately a great single player mode, but it is rather short. but no worries, the fun is all in the multiplayer. you'll find it hard to put down. the only problem is connecting with hosts overseas. the lag can be unbearable and an unfair advantage to those with a quicker connection.

I've been playing socom since socom one. Once cod4 has been out...I haven't picked up any of my socom games. This is a must have game. The graphics are amazing and the maps are realistic. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who loves shooter games whether it be ps3 or xbox. I personally prefer ps3..but thats another story.

This is the exact same game as the regular version with the only difference being the inclusion of 4 new multiplayer maps for online play. Single player mode is not affected. If you buy the new maps on the PSN you will pay $9.99 so this is a deal.

Best first person shooter game I have played in a long time. Great Hi-Def graphics. Makes me feel like I am really there and in the action. I have been playing the game for almost 2 months now and I never get tired of it. Not to mention they are coming out with new maps soon. Can not wait!!! Also note I never played any of the previous versions either. I was just wanting a first person shooter to show off to my friends who were all bragging Halo 3 this, and Halo 3 that. Well this beats the pants off of Halo 3. No doubt in my mind what so ever. I go so tired of playing Halo 3 at my friends and that was only after playing it a few days. Not to mention the single player mode of Halo 3 is BORING! Never once have I been bored with COD4! I have actually gone back and redone missions over and over again. It's so real its scary at times. Never know when somone is going to jump out at ya. Or what will be around the corner. The single player version even has a Sniper mission that will make you hold

I would review since I completed offline and got to like the 6th prestige mode online but theres no point since COD5 is already over the internet and youtube.

Absolutely disagree with Eugenio; however that's what i thought of it at first. This game is awesome online, it's awesome offline especially with multiplayer (drunkness is a multiplier) (so is if you try and play it with a guitar hero guitar)

I only played this for a couple days on a 360, but it was great. Really enjoyed the play control and the graphics. It's much more fun to play than the Halo series IMO. Can't wait to see COD5 on the Wii.
