It's super easy to build a playlist on your Windows Media Player and copy that list intact to this player .. also neat feature that I really enjoy is the ability to add any song to your "go to list." So if your go to list is of a certain genre (easy listening or fast paced) you can simply populate it without creating a playlist. However I don't see that you can create more than one go-to list. Negatives: No lanyard to attach so you can't wear this around your neck and you must hold it or buy other stuff to clip it to your belt, arm etc. That's it - and that's not that big of a deal to me. The sound quality is fantastic, I like the option to choose my equalizer settings (pre programmed Rock, Pop, Vocal etc OR program my own settings), FM stations come in clearly and are easily programmable and it also appears to have a decent batter life. I haven't loaded photos or videos and don't know if I ever will but again, that's not what I bought this for anyways. This little player gets the job done and then some. If you're searching for a reasonably priced, simple to use and all around great MP3 player - this is it!! *****

Lastly, the headphones begin to fall apart after about a week, so you are going to want to buy a new pair of those. But besides that I have had no problems, and it even has a slot where you can add 4.0 more Gigabytes of memory, and those only cost 6 -10 more dollars ! I would definitely recommend buying this product !

was so impressed with mine that I bought this black 4GB version for him and he is extremely happy with it as well. One of the only real downsides is also one of it's best features, and that is that it accepts Micro SD/SDHC cards so you can expand your storage capacity if need be. But, if you do use a memory card, just know that the time it takes to refresh your media after unplugging the device is significantly longer. The only other thing I can fault this player with is that it is a total scratch magnet. If you order one (especially if it is dark blue or black) I would advise you to also order a decent clear plastic case to hold it as well, as they are quite cheap enough to be had and can be found in a few different places here on Amazon. Other than it's very few weaknesses, I think you'd have a tough time finding a better audio player for the price, considering it's cross platform capability. The only tough thing for me right now is patiently waiting for 32GB Micro SDHC cards to hit the market so I can turn this tiny marvel into a 40GB player and rip more of my audio to FlAC, as the file sizes are a good bit larger than that of a moderate bitrate MP3 or OGG file. Bottom line: If you're on the fence, IMO, just get it. I think it will suffice for even most audiophiles as well as the average consumer with it's format diversity, number of features and sound quality. All in all, great player all the way around. EDIT 9/26/09: I corrected my review to reflect the fact that there is also an "Autodetect" mode on the device, so your computer and/or music management software can choose which method it wants to use to connect to the device. I also failed to mention that the device records from the FM radio as well as voice recording. And not that I use either format, but it also supports MP3, WAV, WMA, and some forms of protected WMA, as well as Audible format for audiobooks. And for those who may actually use such things, it also makes use of Sandisk's own slotRadio and slotMusic cards as well as standard Micro SD/SDHC cards. Also failed to mention that you do have some control over gain levels as well as the equalizer. Almost too many features to keep track of for such a small player. :)

as the 4 GB Sansa. Before I had the Sansa I had a Creative Zen - which I loved. Unfortunately it stopped working just after the warranty expired, and in my opinion it was too expensive to have it repaired. I was determined to fix it myself, but since my birthday was here again, my husband bought me the Sansa. Our family owns several MP3 players - 4 GB Sansa View, 16 GB Creative Zen Vision M, 2 GB Creative Zen Mosaic, 8 GB Zune, and a 2nd generation iPod Touch with 32 GB of memory - which my husband won. The only one with expandibilty is the Sansa. And, although I love the idea of apps, the difference in price doesn't justify it, esp. considering the lack of expandibility. We can only add to the Zune by using our own CDs or subscribing to the Zune network - which is $14.95 per month. If the subscription to the Zune network is cancelled all the music is lost - which also happens with the other MP3 players when you cancel any subscription service. Not too long ago, our 16 year old daughter asked for a Sansa View when she realized how much more it had to offer. She liked mine, and loved the idea of being able to change sd memory cards to stretch her dollar and the amount of memory this player holds. This capability is one of the things I love most about mine. There are no other MP3 players, that I'm aware of, which have this capability. We both have 4 GB players, and both have a couple of extra memory cards to expand the amount of material we can play. Bottom line: I put this player above all others if longetivity, quality, price, and expandibility are important to you, and are what you're looking for.

minutes to charge the Fuze, much faster than using the computer to charge via USB connection.

The display is plenty large and legible. The controls have a good, solid feel, and navigation is really fairly intuitive once you get used to using the thumb wheel.

Although you can drag and drop music to the Fuze using Windows Explorer, I recommend creating playlists on Windows Media Player 11 and syncing them to the Fuze. The output leveling capability of WMP11 greatly reduces the problem of different volume levels among music files so you can shuffle your music without having to constantly adjust the volume.

I definitely recommend the Sansa Fuze. It's a bargain for its quality.

visuals are there bright and shiny, and the sound is still great. It is very dependable and comes on quickly and easily, no freezing, at least not yet. The ability to record, listen to FM radio, display photos and watch video is wonderful. (Although I have not used the video portion, everything else is good). Support Services are still pretty reliable and courteous.

One thing I like about the Sansa models is the ability to add more memory using a removable Micro-disk Sansa memory card. (They have them up to 8 GB now, but 4 is sufficient for me). This allows me to organize and change my music files, my photos, etc for use as I need it.

Most of the challenges are with the external set-ups of the player. First, it is a bit difficult turning it on/off by moving the button on the side..you need to have fingernails to make certain it comes on and does not lock.

The menu button is on the top right rather than the bottom left. It just took a little time to re-train my brain. Nevertheless, I don't think that makes much of a difference.

The only significant problem I have with it is that the earpiece plug is now on the bottom of the player instead of the top. Since most of the generic mini-carrying cases don't an opening at the bottom, the mp3 player must be placed in it in the upside down position with the earpiece coming out.

The last difference is that the Sansa Fuze does not come with a lanyard opening or lanyard; so you can't use it as a camera on a chain or even around your neck with the necklace type.

Overall, it is a great piece of equipment that serves its purchase, providing us with great audio and video (probably) at a great price. I will probably keep using the Fuze until I need something that it doesn't have. If you're not wedded to Apple...give it a try.

- The most frustrating experience I've had with the Fuze is the ability to get Video transferred. I've tried multiple formats and have been very unsuccessful in finding the right format to use. This is the main reason I've not given it a full 5 star review. Of course it's ridiculous to think that this would be a 'Movie' player. However, I have some great concerts that I would love being able to watch as well as listen to. I'm not interested in watching a movie.
- The on/off switch is great if you want to make sure that you don't accidentially turn on/off. However, I think it's overly difficult. Especially if you have large fingers. I would have preferred to press the Play button for a couple of seconds.
- The device 'hiccups' when scrolling through music that has album art. For some reason, when you get to the list of albums, the select button doesn't work until the album art appears. Often requiring you to double-click. Not a big deal, unless you're quickly trying to find a song to add to the play list.
- Finally, the device is either too new or not popular enough to warrant accessories. I really want to buy a protective cover, but they don't exist. I've read that some people are using Nano covers, but they don't fit well enough. This is really bad if you want to use the Fuze while exercising or cutting the lawn.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Fuze to anyone looking for a low-cost small media device. The cons shouldn't sway you away from buying it, but they are good to know. I'll update my review when I figure out the right combination of video formats for the device.

SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4 GB Video MP3 Player (Black)

NOT replaceable according to Sansa, so hope it lasts awhile. Overall the price is great and the ease of carrying a few Micro SDHC cards give it unlimited potential. Great unit.
UPDATE: After having this a couple weeks, I would give it 5 stars, GREAT little unit...With the Fuze itself and the 4 Gig Micro SDHC card, I now have 2163 songs on it. I also had a 2 gig card with a 150 songs on it and counting. Performs flawlessly.
