Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
This review is a combination of three:

Canon PowerShot SD950IS 12.1MP (Titanium)
Canon PowerShot SD770IS 10MP
Canon PowerShot SD790IS 10MP

I first purchased the Canon SD950, and after loonnnggg shipping from Jr.com, I received it and tried it out. The camera is much bigger than the SD500 that I upgraded from--even though it's got so many bells and whistles. One thing about Canon that's got my eyebrow raised: Why the big font as if we can't read?

The Image Stabilization is a wonderful thing, right along with the face detection. It even focused on an enlarged print of a little girl! The 3.7 zoom is nothing to frown at either. ISO is easier to set now so one can play around with the settings...

The camera is made for "big hands" and it took me about two weeks of off and on shooting to get used to it. The 12MP quality is okay, and I didn't have to get used to too much new button placement. One thing I didn't like is the play button. I felt I had to really push my finger on the

Canon SD770IS is an exellent subcompact camera.I chose this one because:
1.10 megapixels give us more freedom to corp, edit and enlarge photos, better than SD1100,8M;SD850,8M;SD870,8M.
2.35mm-105mm,35mm better than SD1100,38mm-114mm.
3.The Viewfinder is useful in brightlight, better than no Viewfinder such as SD790,SD870.
4.Good build quality and attractive design.
And after I have used the camera,I found 2 more:
5.Good movie quality.
6.Long Battery live.
But like other subcompact camecas,at high ISO we can usually find noise.

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
I love my new camera! It's tiny, which is great for putting in my pocket or even a small purse for going out. I bought it before a recent vacation, and all the pictures came out awesome, even the ones where I handed it to a random person to take a photo of my group. The battery life is great; I used it heavily for the whole week and didn't have to charge it at all. It starts up pretty quickly, so you can take it out, snap the shot, and have it back in your pocket fast. The image stabilization works great, especially in somewhat low light where a flash would have been embarrassing or unflattering. The face detection also seems to work pretty well, and the auto red-eye correction is nice. I haven't played with all the special modes yet, but I did manage to take a few nice dusk/night photos with the night mode. I'm a newbie when it comes to fancy camera features, but I did a LOT of research to make sure I was getting my money's worth, and I couldn't be happier!

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
I was looking for a camera that took great pictures but was small enough to slip into my pocket (so that I would actually take it with me!). This camera really fits the bill. I'm taking more pictures then ever (short videos too!) and the quality is fantastic!!!

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
I bought this camera before a trip to Israel. I wanted something that I could easily fit into my pocket and wouldn't get in my way. I've been very impressed with this camera. The picture quality is respectable for a camera of this size/type and overall I'm happy with everything about the camera. I've taken hundreds of pictures and many videos without problems. Battery life has yet to be an issue and this camera has been really quick in taking pictures - once you press the shutter button if you see somebody is about to walk into your frame the camera is usually quick enough to catch the shot before the person has time to get in your way. The in camera features are plentiful and easy to navigate.

I wish this camera would switch to Auto High ISO automatically....sometimes it knows it's about to take a shaky picture and it will not turn up the ISO as high as I think it should. A noisy picture is better than a blurry one, in my opinion.

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
This camera is an ideal everyday camera for photos and videos. The image stabilization, face recognition, and great performance (start-up and shot-to-shot times) were especially useful in real indoor and outdoor situations.

The primary purpose for us purchasing this camera was so my stay-at-home wife could quickly and easily capture the "firsts" and other special moments of our almost 11 month old. It was a day-to-day replacement for a Pentax istDS digital SLR (great quality but impractical and SLOW autofocus on indoor/flash shots) and a few years old lowest-end miniDV JVC camcorder (a pain to capture/edit/archive.)

The last semi-compact digital we purchased was a Canon A40. Really great camera. In 2002.

Top Three SD770 Pros:
- Size: There's hardly an excuse not to bring this anywhere you might want to take real photos and quick videos. It's barely thicker than a deck of cards and smaller than one of said cards. (See customer photos)
- Overall Real-world Performance: Truly a joy to use.

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
Just bought the SD770 after returning the Sony Cybershot DSCW300 13.6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot. (See review there). The contrast with that camera made me appreciate the SD770 probably more than I normally would have. So this is a comparison.
. Much sharper lens.
. Images better looking at ISO 80-800, above that they are useless in both cameras.
. Canon images noisier at higher ISOs because of less aggressive noise reduction, but as a result they are crisper. Sony gives a mush wherever there is fine detail. You can simulate the Sony look by running the Canon images through a noise filtering program like Neat Image at a high filter setting.
. Canon is 10MP vs Sony's 13.6MP, but all the above hold true even with the Canon images ressed up to 13.6MP.
. Much smaller body, truly a shirt pocket camera, which is the primary reason for me for buying a P&S.
. Both have usable optical viewfinders. The centering accuracy of the SD770 seems to be even better than

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
Before I get into this review, I want to mention that this is my fourth Canon digital camera. They've all been great which is why I've been loyal to the brand. I bought this one because my husband wanted our Elph PowerShot 1000 so it gave me the excuse to upgrade to 10MP. I love the size and feel of the 770, the LCD is crisp and clear and it's totally easy to use. It also has an optical viewfinder which is great in really bright light situations. The pictures are fantastic and the Image Stabilization feature, which the 1000 didn't have, is awesome for those shots where you don't want to use a flash in low light situations. I'm also extremely impressed with the video quality, I just used this to create a bunch of five minute movies of martial arts students for study and the video looks great at 640x480 and even blown up on the computer screen. Even the audio is also fine (and I'm a professional musician so I have picky ears). I also love the rechargeable battery feature. I bought an extra

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
For just over $200 this is a great camera. I get 8 out of 10 pictures in focus & with the right amount of brightness and the other 2 usually I don't give it any time to focus, but they are usually only slightly out of focus. It is smaller then a deck of cards so it fits comfortably in my pocket. The only complaint I have is the time you push the button and it takes a picture is not instantaneous. Then again I have not found a digital camera that can. I herd of another compliant about the screen getting easily scratched so I bought a special clear sticker that goes over the screen for protection. I tried the video an it surprised me how good the video was. The sound not so much, you get some white noise. I have not used it at night yet so not sure about that. The SD extreme 8gb works very well with this camera.
I would buy it again! I gave it 4 stars because nothing is perfect.

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
As a travel writer I spend a lot of time at Walt Disney World, and Canon PowerShot Digital Elphs are the most common cameras I see. Families seem to love them, because they're so easy to carry and operate. About the size of a deck of playing cards, each of these "pocket cameras" really do slip right into a pants pocket, and their rectangular designs make them easy to grip. Best of all, they all take good photos. (How do I know? Because I've actually gotten to use every one of these models. Nearly every day guests ask me to take photos of them with their own cameras, which most often are Canon PowerShot Digital Elphs.)

Here's my breakdown of the ten bestselling Digital Elph models. Any of the first six are superb choices:

1ST PLACE: SD1100 IS
An update to the SD1000 (see below), this 2008 8MP beauty adds image stabilization, a slightly longer zoom (38-114 mm), another MP of photo size and a small indent on the right side for a better grip. Plus it comes in colors! My daughter has a blue

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
I used CNET's reviews to find a camera, found that Canon had the majority of top rated cameras, and chose this one. I have simple requirements in a camera: take good looking photos, be compact, and not fragile. Sorry that this review is not scientific but I enjoy having a high resolution camera in my pocket that is easy to use.

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
I moved from a bulky film SLR to a bulky digital camera which I worked in a fully manual mode most of the time to the SD770 which I operated more or less using the built in modes on a recent trip. It is an amazing little gem.

1. I dont notice it in my pocket - it is that small. The power on button is recessed so I dont worry about it turning itself on inadvertently.

2. All modes are very intuitively accessible using the five way keypad on the back.

3. The picture quality is acceptable or better.

4. I dont have anything to compare the image stabilization with. It sometimes worked okay with shots as long as 1/3 seconds, but at other times I got hazy shots at 1/8s exposures - both at the same aperture. I think that has more to do with the steadiness of my hand.

5. The various delays associated with a point and shoot digital are hugely reduced compared to the other P&S digitals I have tried. The only appreciable delay is when the flash recycles.

6. The battery life is great. I shot

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
I just received the SD770 and I love it. I had considered the 1100 but jumped on the 770 as it was only several dollars more. The 770 is actually smaller than the 1100 and performs just as well. Picture quality is top notch, startup and shutdown is quick and it looks nice in black and silver. A few differences are the 10MP vs 8MP, the slight size/weight drop of the 770, the color schemes of the 1100, and more importantly, the better battery life on the 770. If the price difference is still negligible here on amazon I'd say you can't go wrong with the 770.

Canon PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital ELPH Camera - Silver
I upgraded from an SD1000 and I have found many improvements. First, the image stabilization works great. I can take clear shots in much lower light than previously. Second, the 10 megapixels provides a much larger image compared with the 7.1 megapixels of the SD1000. Picture quality seems comparable; I haven't noticed additional noise. Third, the battery life is significantly improved. All this in a camera that is approximately the same tiny size and light weight.

Since I use this camera for long hikes on the Great Wall of China, having a viewfinder was a priority for me to enable use without the LCD, which dramatically improves battery life. You can find some sample photos at the Great Wall Forum, and over time I will be adding many more.

The weaknesses of this camera are a weak flash, not a very wide angle lens, and little control over aperture and shutter speed. All these disadvantages are of course expected in this type of camera.

RTFM! I highly recommend reading the instruction
