The Grundig Satellit 750 is now available. Forget the negative comments. This is my third shortwave radio and by far this one is the best .I really like it very much.I had my doubts after reading the other reviews. The owner's manual is easy to understand but could include more information. A listening guide is a must to help identify stations .It's a nice radio .The overall reception is good .The control knobs are on the small size and the volume knob is on the left .Other than that I am well satisfied with it as a shortwave listener.

The radio works fairly well on AM and Shortwave. FM performance is quiet good. SSB (Single Side Band) performance is very poor. Good candidate for the $199.00 class but at $300.00 it is just not worth it to me. For the same money you can have two Grundig G5 radios or a good used Sony 2010. In the future companies like Kiwa may elect to offer some improved filters for the radio. If so, that may make it more attractive to the Dxing and SWLing community. On the other hand, that adds additional cost to an already overly priced radio for the level of performance offered.

I just recieved my satellite 750 and fired it up right out of the box.Spent the whole evening checking it out. I guess the first reviewer got a bad unit, but Grundig has a one year warranty on parts and labor. I've been waiting months for this to arrive and I am very pleased. This is an upgrade from a Eton S350dl which is also an excellent unit.
The 750 has the rotating ferrite antenna which works great for late nite AM.The tuning control has a nice feel to it and will loop around once it gets to the top of the band your on so you don't have to tune all the way back. You can also tune by the keypad or the up-down buttons.Nice well lit lcd and signal strength meter.
I don't know what the first reviewer was expecting{although a working unit would be nice]I'm sorry he got a bad one but that happens with anything you buy these days.
You read reviews and research the hell out of a product and you get people that hate it and those that love it.I'm glad I bought this radio.

Once the name GRUNDIG stood for quality and performance in shortwave receivers. Sadly we see yet another example of a poorly designed outsourced, Made In China item. After waiting for 3 months for the Chinese to ship to the US ( btw- the ads for this receiver came out almost a year ago). It is a far cry from the Satellit 600 that preceeded it. The 600 suffered from the typical ker chunk sound heard when tuning it, however the performance and sensitivity was very good. The Sync lock was removed from this 750, so there's lots of shortwave drift. Mine arrived and right out of box powered the 750 up and guess what?? No Signal...Only a mototboating sound on all bands due to a faulty IC. Battery door is cheap, fits poorly and will be prone to break. The controls have a very cheap feel to them. Also be aware that these new models have a higher than normal battery drain even when powered off from the clock display which stays on all the time. Eton's other models use a second set of AA battereries
