Please read to the end for resolution. The fax itself is just what I wanted. What I didn't want was to stop set-up to drive to Walmart at dark thirty to gat a USB cord that was supposed to be with my package to complete set-up. So I didn't spend $61.80 total. I spent another $21.65. When I logged into Amazon for their packaging review (I bought machine from Amazon) they indicated I had no recent orders. Therefore, I couldn't quickly ask for help. I found an Amazon customer service number online and called. Rep. Belinda, in just over a minute, apologized and promised to refund my credit card. I looked the next morning and it has been credited plus 35 cents (rounded off by rep) This was amazing service for a disgruntled, crabby customer. Good job and kudos to Amazon. And I'm back to doing my stuff with my new fax/copier/scanner/printer.

I love this 4-in-one. Easy to instal, use, quality b&w prints (which is what I needed for); compact. Love it and would highly recommend to anyone who does not need to scan from a book or non-lose page format.

I bought this maybe six months ago at Office Max. I got it running with Vista perfectly able to fax, scan, and print, because there was software available for Vista 64 bit. Windows 7 is another story. Windows 7 is already released and HP says they won't have the full capability software for all printers until January 2010. So for about 2 1/2 months you are limited to the printers capability of all the features. You can fax through Windows built in fax, but you have to have a server for it.

Since I am home and no server I can't use fax until they come out with the software for Windows 7. Otherwise everything else works fine on it. I do recommend getting this, but for people buying new computers built with Windows 7 already be cautious that you won't have full functionality of the printer. If I knew the printer companies waited so long to get software out, I would of stayed with some other OS until then. I think these printer companies are the last ones to keep up.

I purchased this all in one to replace an older Lexmark printer and I'm very happy with my purchase. I did "a lot" of research and read a lot of reviews. They are so helpful. I feel I got an excellent buy through Amazon. The HP all in one is much smaller than the Lexmark, quieter and very cost efficient when it comes to replacement cartridges. The print quality is excellent. I had a little difficulty in the set up because of the DSL modem, use of a filter, etc. but I am very satisfied with my HP all in one.

After having good experiences with HP products in the past and considering the initial inexpensive cost of this all-in-one printer, I went ahead and made the purchase. When the product arrived it was fairly easy to set up to my Dell laptop and it was compatible with VISTA. Both were concerns after reading some of the reviews, but didn't seem to be a problem. After having this product for a year, following are the pros/cons I have discovered: First issue was that the toner is only good for about 200 pages, at that. This meant that I was purchasing 2-3 catridges a week. You also have to align the printer every time you change the cartridge, which in my opinion, is a complete waste of toner. Tried looking on the internet to find a way to turn this off, but to no avail. Customer service was also no help - from what I could understand. Next problem is that sometimes it pulls several pages through at one time causing the printed page to be split up among several pages. You either have

We purchased this all-in-one printer based on the customers' review: it is a good quality printer for a good price. I also like the phone part - no need to leave the office to make a call or answer the phone.

We have used the product quite a few times. Clear copies, fast faxes. Have not used the scanner yet. We saw the HP at an Office outlet and the price was $25 more. Thanks, Amazon

This printer worked well for the first 8 months, except for getting frequent error messages when trying to print - it said it was not connected even though it was clearly installed properly. That meant stopping in the middle of a project and reinstalling it over and over. HP sent out updates twice, which were supposed to correct this. Then suddenly one day it wasn't able to save scanned documents in PDF or any other useful program. After 11 phone calls to tech support staff (yes, 11!) with varying degrees of competency and English ability, and approximately 9 hours of my time wasted, they finally and reluctantly connected me to someone at the management level. This person agreed that it was pointless to continue troubleshooting the issue, but that it couldn't be HP's fault, so it had to be my computer causing the problem! Note: the most experienced tech person I talked to had already told me it was definitely HP software, not my computer. HP asked me to download the software onto another

I bought this when my other HP printer started not working at times and I could buy this one cheaper than the ink for the old printer. That is insane. This is a decent printer for the price but the scanner quality is poor. I have not used the fax feature yet so I can not comment about it. It is user friendly but they could have added a back-lit LED display for more ease of use. The whole unit is amazingly compact with good software that comes with it.

The all in one HP J-3680 is an excellent compact machine. I previously owned two other all in one HP models and they performed excellent. I would purchase another model in the future. The seller also was excellent, it shipped and arrived on time and in good condition.

So the printer is great except for one thing. The only way to scan and photocopy items is by feeding them through the printer, this means that it is impossible to photocopy a page from a book or from a notebook without physically ripping the page out. As a student, this is a total bummer to me. Other than that, I haven't used all the tools like the fax yet but it seems to be working well. My other issue is that installing it to my laptop was a huge pain. My laptop kept trying to automatically install the hardware but it couldn't locate the info from the internet, then when I tried to install through the disc it kept giving me problems. Eventually it worked though.

HP J3680 Officejet All-in-One Printer I have had HP printers for years and been very happy. However, this one just isn't compatible with my Dell. Would print, but scanning was not to be. All I got was error messages. HOURS of working with support (support???) yielded nothing. Printer wiped out my restore points too. Returned it for refund. My employer purchased a HP C5540 all in one for me at work. Piece of junk too. Have to constantly reinstall software for it to scan. HP is great for printers, but all in ones - bad as far as I am concerned.

Just got the item a week ago, thinking there's just a few negative review and a lot positive review proves that the printer must be good. Forgetting same people were voted for Bush 2 times.:) Anyway the printer is the worst i've ever had, don't get fooled by pics the phone feels like a toy phone and plastic is really bad quality if you accidentally hit it or drop something on it would be broken for sure. My printer also kept giving "out of paper" error and it started right out of box i was unable to print one single page, never encountered such thing and even being a tech savvy person i was unable to solve it. I tried to fix the problem, i've found HP product support page and read it, i think they must be a bunch of idiots because their advised solutions were "plug off the power cord" and "try a different another paper brand" of course they didn't solve the problem. All the American companies has a serious problem with making something cheap yet solid. I will never buy anything from HP

My printer arrived in a timely manner. From then on, everything else went downhill. When I tried to use it, it does not work. I was getting "Paper Jam" errors even though there was not any paper. I didn't even get a chance to complete the installation process because of the stupid "Paper Jam" message.

I spoke with HP's (outsourced) customer service department, and they went through all of the troubleshooting steps that are also posted on the website. I should note that the kind of paper that I use doesn't matter when I get error messages before I even put a paper in the machine. I went back and forth with HP's customer service department, and they confirmed what I already knew... that my printer was in need of a replacement.

They were to send me a replacement printer. I got a confirmation e-mail, telling me that my printer would be sent out. However, the HP website had an old address. I sent an e-mail to HP, and I received a confirmation that they received my new address. But,

I had to give this printer one star so I could post the review. It deserves no star.

I bought this printer after reading the glowing reviews here. I feel like I have been duped. The first of these printers that I received would not work properly. It would feed through one piece of paper all the way, then a second sheet halfway and stop. No troubleshooting for this problem was available in the online manual. Assuming I had bad luck with a lemon, I returned it to the store and got a second. During the installation process, I received an error message that the faceplate was not installed and to reinstall it. It was sitting firmly in its place. I called customer support. After 2 hours on the phone with them, the face plate issue was resolved, but the scanner would not work. Figuring I could live without the scanner, I carried on. After printing 4 short documents, the paper feed problem that the first printer had reared its ugly head. I am returning this printer and will never

Does a decent job with clear print. Only issue is that if you want to highlight something, the highlighter smears the ink, otherwise it is AOK.

I almost did not buy this printer because of the reviews, and it's not the best printer/fax ever, but it is the best thing you'll get for this price, it was easy to set up, it did not come with the usb cable but I bought it for $8.23 after taxes, and it's a very nice one (I don't know who's the chump who bought it for $40), the quality is great, it's not laser so it's not super fast but it isn't slow either. I'm very satisfied.

This multi-purpose piece of equipment is high-quality and very affordable. Unlike some other low-cost printers, the cartridges are also very affordable.

Print times are extremely fast, as are scan times. Voice clarity on the phone line is excellent.

I am very well pleased with this product.

Print quality is very good, not the fastest in the world but great quality. Havent figured out nor needed to figure out how to fax yet and never need to scan but the features are there and hell, I only paid $59 for this thing. Great bargain!!

I was not happy with this product. For 30 years I have been using refills and ink to keep from spending good money on replacement cartridges and ribbons. These printers seem to have a chip or something that does not allow them to be refilled. I purchased 4 on sale. I will throw all of them in the dumpster if I can't find a way to refill the cartridges.

If you are a pro with products like this, its a no brainer. But, if you are the average Joe, it takes a little time to familiarize yourself with its dynamics.
Be prepared to do what is necessary to become a pro using this machine. Only then will you appreciate its usefulness, diversity and performance.
After using it for a short time just having the all-in-one feature is quite rewarding. My first HP product and, so far, HP is for me.

Ordered online from BBuy, got it set up, then realized I needed to buy a USB port to connect with my computer. This info should be given at purchase time, especially online, and why isnt a vital component included in the package? This changes the price, as the USB port is 40 dollars. Make sure you add this to the price when considering value.

I can't even write a review on the performance of the machine. I bought it, and it the FLIMSY plastic BROKE whilst I was trying to install the ink cartridges...I regret buying this product and actually doubt that I will be buying an HP printer again.

I took a while to set up since I had to buy ink and a USB cable as I thought it came with the printer, I would have liked to have had this made clear to me before and I could have bought one with everything included but I set it up last night except the fax because I now have to buy a spliter but it seems to work when I used my phone line for it instead of my laptop, the printer is a bit loud but works great the ink cartridges a tricky to put in but got them in eventually just be careful not to touch the gold part and the ink nossles and dont tilt the printer with the ink in in this will damage it, other than that the machine pretty much tells you what to do, I had trouble finding instructions to connect to a laptop maybe I am a dumb blonde LOL hope this helps all

I bought this printer around a month ago and so far it has been great. The setup was very easy for both the printer and the fax. The quality of printing is very high. I wish the printer had at least 3 different volume levels. It only has a very quiet or very loud ringer volume for incoming calls. But that's really not that big a deal, but rather a preference of mine to have a medium volume. The built-in phone is also nice to have. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product so far.

I bought this product becuase I needed a scanner with automatic document feed; I have been thrilled with how easy it was to set up; I can now scan 20 pages at a time, and turn into a pdf document within just a few minutes. Have not had one jam in the month that I've had it. Color prints are very nice. Great deal for the money!

I have not had this printer for very long, and it is not my primary printer. I purchased it because I was looking for a printer that had a copy function that would copy legal size paper and had an atomatic document feeder. The price on the newer ones with these features are out of my price range and the ink is more expensive. I have always enjoyed my HP products so that was another +. The fact that it can be used as a fax, copier and auxillary printer for the low price I paid makes it a winner in my book.

Reserving one star only because I just got the printer today so can't speak to long-term performance. Print quality is exceptional; made a copy and couldn't tell it from the original. Phone feature is a bonus; faxed with no problem. Scanner works fine and though I liked having a flat glass surface (last machine) to scan smaller items or a few things at once, I find the feeder brackets on this machine are great for getting things centered, so that's a big plus. Local store had this printer for more than I paid including shipping; glad I bought it on line. Easy to set up; software easy to install. Good deal!

I bought the HP J3680 for my small business. I needed dependable printing of invoices and mailing labels, plus the ability to copy and scan. I also wanted a printer I could take on the road if I had to. The HP J3680 fit those requirements like no other printer I could find. On top of all that, I found a great price on Amazon.com

Caveats: I've used this only for printing black and white text.

Pros: Compact. Easy setup (Mac). Built in phone. Ink available everywhere. Takes up very little space on desk. The copier has many features to customize your job. The menu prompts are easy to follow. The phone (yes, even a phone!) has good sound.

Cons: Printing not the fastest, but the quality is exceptional. Cartridges are a bit finicky when being changed, but you'll get the hang of it once you've done it.

Bottom Line: I'd buy it again. Very nice for the start-up small business or general home use.
