Well, less than six months after making this purchase, here I sit on a long Labor Day weekend with a dead tv. Back in May, I turned it off to go to work one day and when I returned that evening, nothing. No power. A week later, the Samsung tech came out, replaced the power board and left. Problem solved. Now, almost 3 months later to the day, same problem. The tech wont be here until the 10th to replace the power board again. My low rating is not about the performance and picture. That is among the best I have seen. My gripe is about the reliability and the fact that I didn't spend the extra money for an extended warranty. When you spend this much for an item, you shouldn't need an extended warranty, in my opinion.

TV was purchased on 07-15-08 and is used lightly only for cable and DVD viewing. Sixteen days(16) after the initial warranty expired (thank goodness I purchased an extended warranty in June) the TV did what sounded like a power reset and died. I am waiting for the repair folks to examine it, but it looks like planned obsolescence to me. I will post another review after I talk to the repair folks. It was great, while it lasted.

I don't know how helpful a review of a product at this time when it is replaced by new product, But I was helped by tons of review of this TV right here on Amazon.com. So, I thought I should share my happiness as well. I bought this TV in May this year and extremely happy with it since then.

I waited until I had the TV for almost a month to write a review, so I could ensure I had no problems that might occur. The TV has worked flawlessly, the picture quality is fantatstic. The remote is no where near as bad as some reviews have suggested. The price was a great price, no local electronics store or National chain even came close. Also other major web based stores' prices were not as good as Amazon. The White glove delivery was perfect. The driver brought the TV in to the house, unboxed it, set it up attached cables, turned it on and checked many channels. He also asked me to examine the TV from top to bottom for any scratches or flaws. I can't say enough good things about the servcie. I absoluetely love the TV.

THIS IS OUR FIRST BIG PURCHASE WITH AMAZON. THIS TV IS STUNNING. IT LOOKS GOOD OFF AND IT LOOKS GOOD ON ! THE PICTURE QUALITY IS EXCELLENT. THE SOUND IS VERY GOOD. IT IS GOOD ENOUGH THAT I WONT BE BUYING AN ADD ON SPEAKER SYSTEM.THE SWIVEL BASE IS ANOTHER NICE FEATURE.IN HOME WE HAVE NO GLARE OR VIEWING PROBLEMS,AND THE 120 MHZ MADE THE STANLEY CUP SERIES ROCK .ALL THE ACTION WAS A PLEASURE TO WATCH. WE LOOKED AT THE LN52A550, IT'S SOUND IS MARGINAL AT BEST AND THE PICTURE IS NOT AS CLEAN/CRISP IN MY OPINION.SEE THE TV'S AT THE RETAILERS AND COMPARE.I WENT TO BEST BUY,SAMS CLUB, AND SEARS. I BOUGHT THE LN52A650.

Look no further than this TV! I am a Verizon Fios tech, doing installations everyday on tv's, so I've seen a broad spectrum of brands, makes, models, plasma's,lcd's etc. This tv has an amzing picture, and not to be biased, probably the best picture I've seen. Now I'm sure using FIOS doesnt hurt, but even still, the picture is truly breathtaking. I have paired up with a SONY Blu-ray, and SONY soundbar(which has exceeded my expectations also).

I had been looking for a LCD TV for a while now, primarily at the Samsung's and the Sony's. I was looking at the Samsung LED's as well, but they were much higher in price. Then Best Buy put this one on sale. I had to go look, as the sale price was pretty good. Spent an hour looking at it, along with the a850. I almost bought the 850, but then I found out the only difference was the depth of the TV. This one is 4 inches, the 850 was 1.9 inches. The 850 was sale priced $300 more, which wasn't worth it in my opinion. I bought it and loaded it in the truck. As I was on my way home, my wife called and said that the rear projection HD TV this was replacing had just blown up. No kidding. Got this home and plugged it in. OMG!!! The difference was AMAZING! All channels from my cable company look amazing, especially the HD ones. I was all set to watch the NASCAR race, and it got rained out, but the colors on the cars was still incredible, even in the rain. Turned to another HD channel and watched

I used to sell television while in undergrad. When the 120hz models came in I couldn't wait for the day that I could afford one not knowing the prices would drop so fast. I purchased this tv when it was on sale for 1999.00. At that time there was the sharp 52" for about 500 less, but the difference between these 2 televisions was astounding. I went to another electronics store to see if maybe the Sharp at Best Buy just happened to look worst but it was the same there. Sony and Samsung was very comparable but there was a gap in the prices that wasn't reflected in the quality. The HD picture quality on this television is amazing. Non HD doesn't really look that great to me but I have yet to see a flat panel that really impressed me there. Many reviewers complain about the sound, but I am not sure what they are expecting from these slender televisions. I have a surround sound system and I don't use it unless I want the "movie" experience with heavy bass and voices behind me. Otherwise I think

I was looking into buying this TV for myself, then my dads 53" Sony finally went down. So we went to Bestbuy and found this TV on sale for $2199.00 and let me tell you Samsung really impressed me. We connected it to the LG BD-370 he got for his birthday and with component cables not even HDMI and the picture looks absolutely flawless....We watched iRobot on Blu-Ray and it looked great. Has great features like wise & info link via wired or wireless connection to the internet. Even watching The Dark Knight on a standard DVD it looks awesome!! I recommend this TV, and if you can get it on sale again for $2199.00 I personally think it's a great investment.

Overall, this tv is freakishly realistic looking and will truly amaze you. However, because of the delay/lag when playing PS3 and XBOX 360, I am exteremely disappointed. Any games which require any kind of timing (Golf, baseball, first person shooters) is completely ruined because of the video delay.

This is my 3rd HDTV. I put a TREMENDOUS amount of time and effort into researching the best TV and I'm extremely happy with the quality, look and picture quality of this TV. I'm being completely serious when I say that the 120hz Autio Motion Plus makes TV shows and movies Freakishly Realistic looking. Watching Blu-Ray DVD's on my PS3 are amazing. The picture is so clear that it's like looking out a window.

HOWEVER, as great as the picture is and as awesome as these features are, I'm VERY disappointed with a delay that occurs when playing PS3 or XBOX 360. I have a few specific games where it's very important to have excellent timing and because there is such a signifigant delay

I bought this TV about 3weeks ago for $1999.99
My wife and I have been researching/debating etc for about an year now.
She was more into the SonyXBR6 and i was into the 650.
Finally the price made the decision. XBR was about 1200 more at that time.

We were so excited about the TV that we could not wait for the BB guys to deliver it after 3days, so I rented a Uhaul and got the TV home right then

Hands down, i think this is one of the best LCDs in the market. We have a PS3 and after we got this TV, we have been buying lots of bluerays and renting BlueRays from Blockbuster regularly. Great for gaming, really rich blacks and other colors.

The only con is the sound (not good for movie watching) and the not so responsive remote (i can live with that)

I know, i could have waited another 2-3months to get an LED, but when we know that OLED's are already here (not the bigger sizes), i thot , spending about 3500 for an LED is not worth it. Instead buy

This LCD is totally awesome. The picture is crisp and clear and awesome for an xbox 360 with its 120 hertz processor. I have yet to see any lag on this screen. It also looks gorgeous in a bright room where most LCDs have a bad glare. It has all the features you will ever need and unlike most tvs the sound quality is even good. If you buy this 52 inch badboy you will not regret it.

Had this for 3 weeks and continue to be amazed at the superb picture quality. We 'feed' it Dish 500 HD and it's like looking out a window...super sharp, brilliant colors, couldn't ask for better. Very black blacks are possible, as are white whites. Motion Flow works really well too. Oodles of picture settings, but you don't need to adjust much, if any to get a great picture.
Just buy it, you won't be disappointed.
My only gripe, is the audio output to my home theatre...is fixed volume, which means I need to use 2 remotes...my source (whether it be DVD, or Satellite) and the one for the 'receiver'. My previous Sony had variable output..so could run it with just one remote. A minor pain, but certainly not a reason to look any further....this TV is awesome.
Tried some photos from a USB 'thumbdrive'....awesome, finally a TV that displays pictures in HD too. A notebook computer drives this as a giant monitor too with excellent results if you're into slide shows, power point, etc.

I just bought this TV and I feel like this was a great investment for our home theater. Picture quality is tops and it has very nice features.
You can view the picture from all sides of the room without any problems. We hooked up our Playstation 3 to it and it is awesome to play video games on it and to watch blu-ray movies on it. The picture is so clear, you feel like you are part of the movie. The only regret I have is I wish we could have afforded a bigger TV.

This TV is an upgrade from a Sony LCD rear projection....
What a difference!
Vivid colors, deep blacks, excellent contrast, superb detail...the best electronics purchase I have ever made.
I also have it connected to my computer for a second monitor, it's great for displaying pictures and home movies.
I have owned it for about 3 months, and enjoy it every day.

Excellent picture quality! Blacks are great (for an LCD). 120hz is amazing. Excellent number of inputs. Great contrast. Wiselink is a neat option. Infolink is too. Viewing angle is excellent. Very satisfied with this investment. No problems since my purchase, 6 months ago.

If you have lamps on the opposite wall, they may reflect on your screen durring dark scenes. Speakers are weak. Personaly not fond of red bezel.

I waited along time before I pulled the trigger. I checked around both here and at consumer reports and both gave it a remarkably high recomendation.
Set up was a breeze and sometimes I catch myself thinking that I'm looking through a window instead of watching a tv.....and I have YET to get an HDMI cable!! what are you waiting for??!!!

Incredible tv! The picture is clear and crisp and the HD is unbeatable. I am very satisfied with the samsung TV and highly recommend to anyone who likes to watch television. The only problem was the delivery. Even though the TV had been delivered to the area, it was not delivered to my home for several days. I stayed home from work on the date it was supposed to be delivered (estimated) and that did not work. I recommend you wait for a call to confirm the delivery date.

Before finalizing my HDTV purchase, I first made some careful studies regarding which TV will I be on. What kind, ideal size for viewing with respect to room size, brand, features, specifications and price; etc. So far so good, I landed to this masterpiece work of art. Specifically with the best deal and at most reasonable price of the unit compared to most leading brand carrying the same specifications, I finally awarded my self this good choice. The picture clarity is awesome, the sharpness, the contrast are excellent for this Samsung LCD HDTV LN52A650AF1. I am happy to tell you that my family love the outstanding performance that this unit offers. I thank Neil of Best Buy and associates for their helpfulness during the buy processing and delivery , and for the future...the calibration.

I absolutely love this television. I don't know a lot about the technical side of televisions, but I do know a good tv when I see one, and this is it. The HD channels are crystal clear, and the sound quality is fantastic. The menu is really easy to navigate through as well. I would recommend having someone come and calibrate the tv from the factory settings. It made a huge difference in picture, and looks even better than before. I would highly recommend this television to anyone in the market to buy. It does have a slightly reddish frame, and I think it really adds style and makes it unique.

I'd been watching the prices on this TV for awhile after reviewing ConsumerReports reviews on LCD tvs (and this Model was their #1 in the 52" category). I'm happy I decided on this TV.
Great Picture, Lots of inputs and lots of options. Default settings on this TV appear to be great.

Pros: Great Picture, Lots of video inputs, swivel stand.
Cons: None noticed so far.

I debated about as long on whether or not to write a review as I did in picking out this TV. I wasn't sure there was much more I could say about this TV, but there were a couple of points I wanted to hit.
I bought this TV to replace a Toshiba Rear Projection Tv. I had the Service plan and Best Buy gave me a no lemon on the Toshiba, so I set out on trying to find the perfect TV. I was looking at and had my heart set on the Mits. with the sound bar. After reading reviews on this TV, I realized that I should concentrate on finding the right picture, because they make surround sound for sound. There is about a $1000 difference between this TV and the Mits, so I could get a really good sound system for that price.
I set the TV up and man was I blown away. The picture quality outstanding. My wife commented on the fact that she felt like she was there watching it and not watching it on TV. I have it hooked up to Dish Nework HD with Monster 800 HDMI cable. I only have the Samsung UpConvert

So I went to buy the LN46A550. And thats what I did. The problem is they sold me the floor model which was this TV. The sales rep and manger never noticed they actually sold me the floor model of this TV. I paid 899 for this 2200 TV. Some times its your lucky day. I guess the 46 was all sold out had been moved and replaced with this one and no one changed the price tag below the TV. So they sold it to me thinking it was the 46.

I have played my PS3 and watched DVDs and Blu Ray on it. It is like watching TV or Movies like they are being filmed before your eyes. It is definitely worth the money. I was lucky that the mistake was in my favor and was already purchased by the time they caught it.

Want a great TV buy this thing.

This tv is great!!!! I did the research on this tv and many other tv's and for the price 1999.99 you get alot of bang for your buck..

The remote is useless!! You can't program any other electronics with it. You can how ever use it for samsung products dvd players etc.

The frame is easily scratched when trying to wipe clean.. I used a lint free cloth and still managed to leave very fine scratches.

Bought this TV at Best Buy, Morehead City, NC on sale at a great price of $2129.00! about 30 days ago....I am stunned at the picture, absolutely stunned, and so are my family and friends. This is my first LCD HD TV, and I know I made the right choice. The 120 HZ picture is unbeatable...crisp color, and I haven't even mentioned that it even looks better with the Playstation 3 Blu Ray!...incredible. I also purchased a Yamaha Receiver, and some Polk Audio Surround Sound Speakers, and I am set!

I've had this one for about 8 months now. It has the touch of color border and nice stand. The picture is very nice and setup was simple.

Works very good with my Xbox 360 and cox HDTV service. Menu system is a bit spread out and PIP is not a easy one touch to access. You have to access deep into the options menu to turn on PIP, I wish the had it on the remote. The wheel on the remote is very under-sensitive. You have to spin it nearly a whole revolution to move through one menu option. Very nice if you like to get your thumb into shape.

I'd recommend getting a nice universal remote because this one though stylish, is useless.

Besides that, I love the image this TV produes, which of course is the most important thing.

After purchasing and returning the pn50a650, I picked this model up in search for a clearer HD picture with more life-like viewing. My choice was definately a good one! Plasmas definately have better color but this picture is so worth the minor difference. Beautiful television all around...love the trim and features.

After extensive research on the various flat-screen televisions, my wife and I made the decision to purchase the Samsung. While we were going back and forth with the model, we eventually decided upon the 650, and what a great choice it was. The TV was very light for its size, so my wife and I brought it home from the store and immediately set it up on the stand provided. I began watching some of the local HD channels and could not believe how clear the picture was. I am definitely no A/V expert, but being a gamer and IT professional, I was equally impressed with the various inputs and built in features of the television.

Well worth the investment!!!!!

We got an LN52A650 in November, and just love it. The best TV we've ever had. I'm pretty picky and there is nothing to complain about with this TV.

I went in looking for a Sony because of the brand name, but kept liking the picture on the Samsung better. Took my wife and son in and they both picked the Samsung also.

Looked at the LN52A750, but we really like the ability to swivel the stand, so we got the 650.

The picture is fantastic. We play dvd's on the xbox 360 and they look great. Can't imagine what a blu-ray would look like. Even the old video tapes look good on it.

We have it hooked up to a Yamaha home theater system for sound, so I don't know what the TV speakers sound like.

I have copied some of our Yosemite vacation pictures to a USB drive and displayed them on the TV. Very easy to do and they look great.

I'll echo what Kib59 said about Harmony remotes. It controls everything except the Wii (but it turns everything else on for

I bought this excellent TV about a month before Xmas 2008. It is almost March and I still at stunned at how great the TV is every time I turn it on. Although I quickly hooked the TV to a surround system, the sound that came with the TV was good. I think the sound question is silly though, why would you want to live with any TV sound when you can enjoy surround sound?

I really like how Bestbuy kept matching their own lower prices. I went in twice after I bought the TV and Bestbuy kept refunding money as their prices dropped. The final lowest price I saw was $1999.00. I think I paid about $2700 originally so getting $700 back was nice.

I bought a HarmonyOne remote as well to control everything (TV, receiver, bluray, Comcast box,ps3(get the Nyko dangle), DVD player, VHS, Ipod). It is excellent and easy to use. My wife even knows how to watch the TV with this remote. I put the other six or seven remotes away!

I have had no buyers remorse about this purchase at all.

I've been doing research for a couple of months now. Looking at different websites from J&R's, PC Richards, and Amazon. I finally looked at BestBuy and Cnet and also read reviews from both websites and I actually read them in and out.. I was goin for the 46inch and decided might as well go all out and purchase the 52inch.. TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS I DO NOT REGRET IT.. My girlfriend had a face while i was purchasing the Tv, as soon as we arrived at home and i set it up that face went from upset to an amazed look.. The Picture is great the sound is good but with a great surround sound will make this the perfect purchase.. MY ps3 looks awesome on it.. If your looking to purchase the 46in wait two more week and save for the 52inch.. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

This is the best TV I have ever watched in my life. The picture is so crisp, especially when watching HD movies either on HD channels or Blu-ray. It's almost like you can reach out and touch the characters. Even regular DVDs look good. The 120hz makes all the difference, looking back I'm so glad I sprung the extra $50-100.

I don't know anything about it's sound quality, mine is hooked up to a surround system, and it's good.

The remote wheel does take getting used to, but if you don't want to spin it you can click up and down/left and right, but the wheel is way faster.

My Xbox 360, PS3, and cable box plug into the back and I only have to change the input on the TV, and not my receiver anymore, it's awesome.

Buy it.

"I tend to put alot of weight to the Consumer Reports ratings on alot of products I buy. In particular, the 52A650 was top rated by CR in 2008 within the 52" LCD class.
At 1080p with Auto Motion Plus 120hz processing, the picture is one of the best I've seen with an LCD. Great for sports viewing! Even the picture presets are right on the money, I wouldn't recommend changing them. At this point, I'm only using component video connections, which only delivers 720p picture quality and its still fantastic. I'll upgrade to HDMi soon!
The 'touch of color' red pigment in the TV frame is barely noticeable in a dark room, the set looks great in my living room.
This set has an abundance of connections (HDMi, Component Video, Composite Video/Audio, TosLink, PC Input, S-Video and headphone jack). Plenty to choose from.
This TV is very energy efficient compared to most similiar LCD's at this size (Enery Star Compliant). Its also pretty lite at about 76 pounds (97 pounds with stand).

Bought this after doing some research and comparing. Came down to this or a Sony of equal features and price. I could not be happier with my decision. Picture quality is unrivaled and when matched with a blue ray player, be ready for friend's mouths to drop in amazement. I have mine wall mounted, and to be honest, the TV's speakers are not that bad. Not sure why so many reviews have made them sound so bad. Like many others, if I am into a big game or movie, I go with the surround sound, but it is not because the TV speakers are so bad, it's because surround sound is that good! The ToC (Touch of Color) looks great. Sets it apart from the plain looking cabinets most other brands/models have.
One comment on the remote for this TV. The click wheel type control on it is not the best, however, I use a universal remote most all the time so it is not a big deal. So just a heads up on the remote, but this should not discourage anyone from purchasing this AWESOME TV!

I researched for a few months before settling on this Samsung and I am glad that I did. Out ot the box, the picture is excellent with an LG blue ray player, standard dvd looks great and even SD signal looks good. I have it hooked up to a surround sound system so did not buy it for the tinny sounding speakers, but who does? Set up was easy, the picture is excellent and it is just a sharp looking television. Go get one!

This Samsung LN52A650 has the best picture by far! I originally bought a Sharp Aquos LC52D85U due to the free Blu-ray player and good price ($1,699) I returned it within my 30 days, due to having a grainy image (even after calibrating) So after some more internet surfing and a couple of more hours looking at LCD's and Plasma's. I couldn't take my eyes off the Samsung due to it's fantastic picture, but I did not wan't to shell out $2,700. I also wasn't too crazy about the red trim (TOC) So after about 5 days of more (researching) this baby dropped to $1999, so I headed down to Bestbuy and picked it up. The (TOC) touch of color trim actually looks really nice in my house. The picture looks awsome and I have a fair amount of light coming into my family room (no glare issues) This unit is the highest rated 52" lcd on the market and now I know why!

Stop reading reviews and just buy it already!! I read review after review after review and finally bought this TV. You will not find a better television out there in this price and size range.

This television will BLOW YOU AWAY!!!

Of course you will want to hook it up to a good surround sound system to match the sound to the high quality picture. Who really buys these tv's for their speakers anyway?? It's all about the crystal clear picture.

I never write reviews, but since everything I read allowed me to buy with confidence, and since I am not at all happy with a feature, I am compelled to write.

First, this has the absolute best picture you can get. The black light is terrific, no more dark scences not allowing you to see what is taking place. Watch Dark Knight or any batman movie and you will see everything in every scene, crystal clear. Sports are fantastic to watch especially fast moving sports like hockey. Blu-Ray-forget about it..... it is so clear, and bright it looks better than realism!! (be careful- I thought a few actors were beautiful until I saw them on this TV) If you want the best picture the Samsung does it.. Forget about the Sony or anything else, they really don't compare!!

Now the bad..... most of the reviews complain a little about the sound, but say its liveable...We'll I disagree, its awful. My wife told me to take it back because she couldn't stand it. Every sound stage, and changing

I bought this TV three weeks ago, and WOW what a picture! We have been looking for about six months and researching a great deal, for a quality picture in an LCD TV. We decided on a 46” Samsung but when we went in to buy it, this one was on sale for just $200 more. I’m glade we made the upgrade to this one. When paying a Blu-ray disk on the Panasonic DMP-BD35 player we have, and an Ultra Hi Speed Monster cable connecting the two together it looks like you can climb in the TV. Add the Onkyo TX-DS595 5-1 receiver and Jamo speakers( A few years old. Super sound but no HDMI connection). Watching the Super Bowl, felt like we were there in the stadium during the game. WOW what an experience. We are very happy with our purchase.

This is by far the best T.V. I've ever owned. Im glad I bought it when it was $1999.99 it was worth every penny. Picture is perfect. Blue-ray's are mind blowing. Gaming on it is awsome. You must use HDMI cables with this T.V. anything less is a waste. It has 3 ports in the back and one on the side. I hooked it up to a samsung surround sound system model # HT-TZ512 with a fiber optic cable and its like being at the theater only a much better picture. I mounted mine to a T.V. stand model # BBXLS52VS with a floating arm and it looks great on it. I would most definitly recommend this TV to everyone. Id wait til the price went down again but as soon as it does dont hesitate and grab it.

The picture looks like someone is holding a video camera and you are watching it on the screen. Some movies look like a soap opera. It does have a bright screen and I do like the angel viewing. Still deciding if I made a good choice for a pricey tv.

I've been looking for an HD tv for about 3 months now, and finally found the one that was meant to be. Especially when you see the $2,700 tv on sale for only $1999, you just can't pass it up. Now I've been reading the reviews of other BB purchasers, and took in consideration of the "lack" of audio excellence that this tv has, but you know what, I didn't spend 2 grand for awesome audio, I spent 2 grand to have the best picture quality out there. In my personal opinion, the audio could use a little boost, but for the picture that you receive with this particular televison, the audio is just a little detail. I'm not buying a Bose surround system, I bought a Samsung 52A650 HD tv. So if you feel the audio sucks, I disagree. For what you get in the total package, its worth every penny I spent.

I honestly feel frustrated just because i've done so much research for the past few months and i finally found what i needed which is this LCD TV your looking at. I was very desperate to buy so i had to borrow some money from my family and bought this LCD TV about 3 weeks ago...and guess what? I totally loved it ... The only thing that is so frustrating about it is.. that 3 weeks ago i've purchased it for $2,400 plus tax... and now they are offering at $1,999.99 this is ridiculous...i should of wait and save $400. oh well theres nothing i can do about it now but my point is that with this price it's really a no brainer. You've noticed that the review rate is the highest and there is a reason to it. Buy it ASAP otherwise the deal will go away.

I bought this TV shortly after christmas after extensive research and hunting for the perfect TV. I really wanted a plasma for the wide-angle viewing and "better" picture, but preferred LCD for the longevity, power use, and availability. I ultimately went with this television and have loved it. The picture is absolutely incredible, to be honest it's picture is nearly equivalent to that of high end plasmas. I have had many tech-nuts over for games and many of them think that this tv is a plasma, even after I tell them it is LCD. I could not be happier with it.

My two issues - which aren't really - one is the remote takes some getting used to, it has a spin wheel like an ipod to run you through the menu items, however you can push it also if spinning isn't your thing (its not mine). At times it is rather annoying, but really not that big of a deal.

The other problem I have is I don't think the sound quality is all that wonderful, but, thats what a bose surround sound system

This is my 4th 50" plus TV in as many years. I also have an industry leading front projector and I'm very particular about my video. This tv fits the bill in all categories. I thought for a long time whether to choose it over the 46" and I'm very glad I did. The picture is just stunning, it is a very handsome unit and this is the first time I've spent over $2K on a piece of equipment and didn't have some buyer's remorse. I threw the box away the second day and sent in the rebate form as well without any regret b/c I know it's a keeper.

I recently brought this TV for my room and it's my 6 TV I have brought for my room.

I have had it for close to a year now, and what can i say?

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST TV FOR YOUR MONEY.

1. Excellent Value
2. Beautiful in HD
3. Sports look fantastic
4. Movies on DVD or Blue-Ray look breath taking
5.Best TV you can buy
6. Relatively Underpriced I would say
7.TV lovers in the house? WILL BE WOWED!
8. Be prepared to brag to neighbors and friends, although the beauty of this television basically does all the talking.
9.Gret Investment
10. Runs perfectly, warranty not even needed.

With accurate color right out of the box, this 52" LCD may be the best on the market at this price point. yeah the SONY XBR's are good too but they cost more.

Read the CNet reviews, and if you look closely there is a link to the CNet preferred settings for this model.

While professional ISF calibration is always a good option, you can get pretty close to the standard without it.

Bottom line: All of the better displays on the market today cost more. (e.g. Pioneer Kuro, etc.

Great pic. Had the Sony 52, Sharp 52 and this is the best deal for the money! Plenty of HDMI inputs, 120Hz does a great job. (I've also had the 60Hz 46") I switch TV's about twice a year, it's a habit..........but I get to play with alot of new tech......next is the 850 series

This is an awesome TV. The picture (in HD) is amazing. I was a little worried about buying it online but it arrived earlier than expected and in one piece. Amazon.com had, by far, the best price anywhere. I would definitely recommend this TV to anyone looking to upgrade to a flat screen LCD or Plasma.

As many of the reviews indicate, this an outstanding set. You will likely not be disappointed with a series 6 ("6"50) or higher Samsung purchase.

HDMI input with bluray impeccable.

Alright, here are some things, in my opinion, that could use improvement:
DTV tuner:
1. Picture fade in and out of scenes during football playoffs showed pixellation weakness with 1080i and 720p OTA. Signal strength was medium, I have yet to see any set get better then medium either way. The showrooms just don't show you this, they feed the same signal to every display set via HDMI or component, this does not show the set's true capability unless you are using it just as a dumb monitor, that is, attached to your digital box via hdmi.
2. Channel changing could be processed faster. But don't give up picture quality for it.

Picture Aspect Ratio Control:
3. More picture control would be great. How about drawing custom frame sizes so you don't get fat faces on older or independent

I bought one of these from the store for about 2100.00. Great price and the picture on this is simply amazing-almost too clear (HD images take a while to get used to because of the clarity).

Two days after having cleaned the plastic touch of color frame gently with the monster cloth that Samsung recommended (no fluid, just dusted it), I noticed fine scratches in the frame. If you have a lot of light in the room, this frame will be unforgiving in terms of dust and it is very prone to scratching. I am returning the set and going with the Sony XBR6-entirely because of the frame issue. If it scratches after a day or two of use, I am concerned about what it will look like in a year. If you buy this one (or any of the high end Samsung's b/c they all have this "touch of color" thing-be very careful about how you dust the frame. I still don't get what caused it and Samsung could not tell me (everyone swares that they have not heard of this happening).

This T.V. was a great purchase for me. I orignally was undecided on what T.V. to get after all the research I had done. The Best Buy Salesman talked to me about the T.V. which was on sale that day for $1999.00. What he said was convencing. The T.V. Is everything he had mentioned and more. Football games are great picture but what really got me was the T.V. shows that are and are not in HD. The 120 mhz Makes them look like they are moving right in front of you. Glad I bought the T.V. and had great service. What more could you ask for.

Pros
* Absolutely fantastic picture quality
* The Picture Mode 'Just Scan is awesome. It automatically fits image to full screen
* Looks beautiful. The red tinge gives a very classy touch
* Lots of connectors
* Bestbuy delivery folks were great. They came home, opened it and placed it on the stand, connected it

Cons
* Many features like TV tuner, PIP, fav channels etc are worthless as with a TV like this, you most likely subscribe to HD form Cable/Dish provider. Hence all channel control happens at the set top box and none of the TV features can be used
* The picture slideshow via USB has a memory effect. If you plug in your USB with pictures, then change the directory structure in the USB to add more photos or delete photos, the TV does not recognize this. It tries to open photos under old directory path resulting in 'No photo found'
* The wakeup timers only work with analog TV channels and not HDMI or component video input choices

Conclusion:

Let me first say that I only buy Sony products. But after all of the research I settled on this Samsung TV. Boy am I glad I did.

Setup was easy (go to CNET for LCD TV calibration recommendations). Blu-Ray is fantastic! There is no other TV out there for the same price.

I bought this tv after reading several reviews (both professional and customer) and then watching the prices for some time. All I can say is that it is as though a filter or haze has been lifted from my eyes - this picture is unreal!! The color and definition is extraordinary. I paid Best Buy to come set up. The guy was great and gave me lots of information and even made some adjustments to better optimize the viewing. I am still debating about paying for their professional calibration service. I honestly can't believe it will get better than this. It feels as though you can walk right into the screen. I have a large two story room with floor to ceiling windows and noticed that during the day there is a reflection on the screen. I knew this was going to be the case, as I had read about others mentioning it. I actually really like the red tinge to the edge - also something that was mentioned by several people. I think it makes it a bit unique. The swival is fantastic. Blu Ray discs are unbelievable

I read alot of reviews and forums prior to purchase. I was going to go with the 850 at first then changed to the 750 then finally to the LN52A650. There was no picture quality difference between the three models. Out of the box factory default settings were awesome. Can it get better with professional calibration? I will find out after the holidays. If you are on the fence, jump off and get this tv NOW!

Great sharp picture.. HD is just mind blowing. Reg cable signal does'not do this set justice. Color is accurate and clear..Set up was easy thanks to easy menu and input set up. I have installed many tv's (plasma's and lcd's) and this one is right up there. I choose this samsung over the Sony bravia, not because of the price difference (sony's $400 to 600 more) but this samsung 650 has an edge in picture quality. Blue Ray is mind blowing. As far as sound quality, I gave it a 4star, only because the speakers could have more watts and better quality. However, this doesn't matter at all, as I have a good surround sound system, which totally eliminates this aspect. Why would anyone not have a set running on SS is beyond me. I reccommend this Samsung650 to anyone who wants a great picture at a decent price

My husband and I thought long and hard about this purchase. We read many comments that were very helpful to us. I hope these notes will help others. The Samsung LN52A650 is a beautiful set. The "touch of color" was a concern, but the accent is absolutely gorgeous. One important feature we considrerd was the expected life of the cold cathode flourescent light (CCFL) and ease/cost of replacement. Samsung engineered this set so that the flourescent backlight is easily replaced. We expect to replce it within 3-5 years. The order/purchase through Amazon was flawless. Excellent price, service and delivery. We have been viewing our new tv for two weeks, and we are blown away by the vibrant colors and features this set provides. We hooked up our sound through existing home theatre (Onkyo amp and speakers, Infinity subwoofer, LG DV/VCR player/recorder). Sound and picture is remarkable. There is no going back to regular tv. HD content channels are the only way to appreciate this set.

This is my 3rd Samsung TV purchase within the last year. I bought this one to replace a 4661 (46"). The upgrade was immediately apparent. The picture quality is great, right out of the box. Not only is the picture strikingly clear on HD channels, but it also gets much better reception quality on the analog channels vs. the older model.

The only small gripes that I have are that the screen reflects much more glare than the older model, and the sound quality is not very good. The bass is not very strong and there is an occasional issue with a change in sound, much like listening to stereo that suddenly changes to mono (I know that dates me). I had the same sound issue with the 4661, so it may be a source issue. (Samsung customer service responded to my e-mail to call them and run tests with them on the phone. We will see how that goes.)

I researched larger TVs (46"-52") for a long time and feel that the best TVs, especially for the money are Samsungs. The latest issue of

The picture is very impressive. I have been looking for over a year at LCD's, Plasma, Sony, LG, Samsung; a severe case of 'analysis/paralysis'. It's like we have been watching TV through a haze for the past several years. The detail in the picture from Directv and Xbox 360 is awesome.

I find the sound from the TV to be on the weak side (bass) but 99% of the time we listen through our receiver.

Upgraded from an older Samsung plasma TV 720P 60hz to the Samsung 52 120hz . I did a lot of research and was between the Panasonic TH50PZ800U (great TV, but I wanted an LCD) , Sony XBR (picture was not as good and the cost was much higher $2400 vs. $1895 for the Samsung). CNET reported that the Samsung had one of the best (if not the best) LCD pictures they have ever tested. I finally settled on the LCD for it's picture, versatility (play games, computer, picture etc) & I'm so glad I did. This TV is amazing! The set up was incredibly easy (use Rocketfish cables it does make a difference!) The sound on the TV is really just ok, but I hooked it up to a Bose system with Rocketfish digital coax & it's amazing. Don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed.

White glove delivery was Stellar, Could not have been any better from start to finish. Two men in a truck. They put shoe footies on so they would not track dirt in my home.
Samsung has it all with their TV's. Only wish was that they had a SD card slot. Other than that the 6 series is perfect !

What else can I say
Good job Amazon !

I've had the Samsung TV for a week now and I love it. The picture quality is incredible. My Xbox 360 never looked so good and HD broadcast are stunning, standard DVDs also look great. I have a room with west facing windows and was concerned about the reflective surface on this TV. After viewing the TV in my room I no longer have this concern. The screen is so bright and clear the only time you see any reflection is when it's off or the image displayed is very dark. Only thing less than great is the menus that move a bit slow. The remote gives you most of the functions without going into the menus so it is really not a big deal. Bottom line, the Samsung 650 model is the best bang for the buck.

This tv is incredible. If you have been waiting to buy an Big Screen 1080p HDTV, DO NOT pass this deal up. I have been researching tvs for quite sometime now and this one has far surpassed all of my expectations. The picture is incredible and the sound, while leaving a bit to be desired, is much better than some of the lower models made by Samsung. Nothing a home theater system can't resolve though. All said and done, I have absolutely no regrets buying this television, it's fantastic!

I owned 46" 630 model for few weeks and decided to switch to 52" 650. I am really fortunate that I took this decision as 650 is far superior in picture than 630.I do not believe the processors are same. The common complaints that I found on internet are Glossy screen and Red frame. I think both are very unture. Red frame is not even noticible and glossy actually gives it the ultraclear look ! 3D effects in 650 are far superior and the picture is so clear that even the reflections on contact lens are distinct something I did not notice in 630. Aliasing is much better in 650 . On stretching 4:3 to fit the screen, I rarely see the zigzag edges that I noticed in 630. Colors looks far more real than the earlier models. By the way,do not try upgrading the software at it has the latest 2008.9.
I highly recommend buying this TV and I think this is the best value for money especially with excellent service from Best Buy and very compititive price.

The biggest advice that I can give anyone who wants to purchase this t.v. is to get it here at Best Buy. I did not and I soon found out the value of buying from them. I bought from Electronics EXPO who informed me latter that they do not accept returns for any circumstance. In other words all sales are final. My t.v. did not work right out of the box and expo did not care and I had to call Samsung myself. In about a week Samsung came out and fixed the problem and the t.v. is now astonishing. But do not try get this t.v. somewhere else, the service and the return policies offered at Best Buy more than make up for money you might save elsewhere, plus Best Buy price matches. Do not go anywhere else, and may Electronics Expo go out of Business!!!!!!!!

After several months research we decided to treat ourselves to this awesome TV as a Christmas present to our selves. We already had a 37 inch Samsung 1080P HDTV in the bedroom and it looks great. So, we knew we would go with Samsung, without a question when we decided to replace our old 1080i Rear Projection tv in the family room.

This TV blew us away! I can't comment on the sound as we are using a Yamaha digital receiver and a bose speaker system to push the sound. The picture on this TV is outstanding. So real and life like it took some getting used to.

The set up was very easy. We ran an HDMI cable from the cable box to the receiver and then from the receiver to the TV. From the time we got the TV home and out of the box until we were watching it was about 5 - 10 minutes. Very easy - plug in the power supply and HDMI cable and we were off.

Love it!

I too am one of those buyers that do 6 months research before buying. This is the perfect television and the best 2K I ever spent. I literally don't go to the movies anymore because it doesn't compare to this TV. If you are shopping TVs and want to treat yourself, this is the final word and the definition of "worth every penny."

Also, BEST BUY is the ONLY place I would ever make an electronic purchase after my perfect experience at their store...The most amazing, polite, and pleasant people I've ever met in a retail store...The most fairly priced protection plans...and amazing price match guarantee plan!

P.S. The only time I've ever called a corporate office to praise their service.

The picture is unbelieveable, especially with Blue Ray DVD. I had a smaller 720p LCD Samsung and my wife always said she couldn't see the difference between standard and HD (even though it was obvious). When I brought this home, she flipped out over how much I paid (even though it was very reasonable, about $2K + tax). That night we watched a Blue Ray DVD. She was amazed how it looked. Said it was like being in the first row of a live play. Forgave me for spending the money.

I've read some comments that the sound wasn't great. I though it was fine, but I combined the set with a Bose V20 sound system anyway. Now it's really sweet.

Like the rest of the TV buyers out there, I did an enormous amount of research on different models, makes, styles, etc. and for the money; you will NOT find a better TV. The picture is absolutely amazing. Standard def is okay, but I do not look at those channels any longer. Just about every major channel out there has an HD broadcast as well, so there really isn’t a need to look at SD any longer. As far as the sound, all I have to say is this, if you are going to spend the $$$$ on a big screen HDTV, PLEASE come out of your pocket with money for a decent sound system, I think that the reviews about the sound are ridiculous. Why would you pop some pop corn, turn the lights off, slap in a movie in your Blue Ray player (which is a MUST if you have an HDTV), and watch your 1080P TV while you listen to the sound through the built in 3” speakers? Just don’t bother watching this TV if you’re going to use the built in speakers. Keep it in the box until you can pick up a Bose

I searched and read reviews until I got purple, I got on cnet.com, consumer reports and they both rated this model Samsung as a good buy. I purchased the LCD with the glass front and it looks better then a Sony plasma my bestfriend bought for 3 times the price! My first experience with an HD TV and once your connected to HD cable, you wont go back! I got the Samsung BD-P1500 Blueray to go along with the TV and they both work together as one! I am so satisfied with the purchase and also the value! Now waiting for the USB wireless driver to connect the infolink part of the TV to my router....AWESOME!!! Bestbuy did me right!!!!!

After thorough research, I bought a top end plasma TV. After setting it up, I was disappointed and returned it to the store. I decided to go with one of two LCD's - this one or the Sony equivalent. The customer reviews of this tv were better, so we bought it. Right out of the box, the picture was stunning! Even the SD channels look like they are in 3D! You do not need to be an expert on tv's to set this up (although I have other flat panels and am experienced), and the picture is incredible. The rotating dial is similar to an ipod's, but easy to use, and the remote is laid out very well. The number of settings you can adjust is also great - as I can choose to modify advanced settings, or leave them as is (either way the picture is excellent).
I am indifferent about the red border, but I do like the swivel stand. The tv is beautiful, and I highly recommend this tv for anyone looking to buy a high quality tv for any quality of picture. The blu-ray videos are the best!

I wanted to upgrade from my 37" Vizio. Originally got the Samsung 50" Plasma but returned it when I read that the burn-in issue was still a concern. After much pondering and assistance from the Best Buy rep, I decided to spend a little more for quality. I am so glad that I made that decision because this Samsung is AMAZING! The picture quality is so realistic that it looks like the actors are right in my living room. Anyone looking for a great LCD, this is the ONE! You will not be disappointed, I know I wasn't.

Initially I was going to get the Samsung LN52A750 figuring it was more of an “updated” version of the 650 series. The difference between the two is the 750 series has wireless connectivity and some kind of preloaded software and two small subwoofers on back. However after referring to Consumer reports which stated the 650 series sound was better then the 750, I was back to the 650 series because it does have the internet connectivity (just not wireless) and the preloaded software useless for me! And all other specifications are the same as far as the picture goes…Full 1080P/I 120 HZ etc… Now I purchased this Samsung the day before Thanksgiving and I’m still learning about it and trying to utilize its endless features. This TV will not become obsolete for a while its ahead of the technology that’s out there as of yet. The sound is fine I don’t know why some of the reviewers are negative about it. Unless they have a defective set, or possibly if it

When wathcing hd programming or blue ray movies, it looks as if you are watching from you front window. Once you get used to the remote dial, then there are no problems with the tv at all.
Amazing picture with playstation 3 and xbox 360.

Best tv i have ever owned, makes my other hd tv's seem out of date.

Like most others, I love this TV - picture is the best I've seen on any TV, and I did a lot of comparison shopping before deciding to order this one from Amazon. Like a few others here, I read the reviews from Consumer Reports and CNET.com and others, all of which gave this TV a top rating.

I can't comment on the built-in speakers, since I run the sound through a home theater system.

Regarding the glare issue: I've noticed a bit of glare, only when there's a light source immediately behind me (so that the face of the TV acts as sort of a mirror) and only when the video being displayed is dark. People have different tolerance levels for this type of thing, but I really don't think it's a big deal - it's no worse than any other TV I've owned or seen in a retail store. The TV is on a swivel stand. When this happens, I swivel the TV an inch or two to the right or left, which solves the problem.

By the way, the viewing angle of this LCD TV is great - much wider than most other

I had a Hitachi 57 inch HD projection screen TV, I thought the picture was good for HD,the brightness went out so I needed a new Tv . I went to CC,BB and Sears looking at the sets and for a deal. I narrowed it down to Sony XBR6 and the Samsung 650 52 inch .After reading all the reviews and readers comments everything kept pointing to Samsung. I was still stuck on Sony until I saw the Blu-ray on the Samsung I asked the sales guy to put it on the Sony not the same. I couldn't believe what I was missing out on with that Hitach also. After 5 days of analysis paralysis I purchased the Samsung 650 yesterday. I could not believe it. My teenage son put his madden 09 in and jumped up and hugged me. Even the Surround system sounds better I can't believe it Beautiful picture.
SAMSUNG WINS !!!!!!!

Ok, so I had the money and was in the market to buy a new HDTV, take into fact that I have owned 2 LCD tvs, my brother has had 3 HDTVs and My father 2 LCD tvs. So after looking at all the Tvs that were 52" LCD I ended up purchaseing the new Sony Bravia 120hz tv becuase in the store they had it looking better than the samsung and at 200$ more, even thow I was planning on getting the 650 I ended up with the Sony (I think they had settings down on the Samsung to push the more expensive sony), after getting it home and hooking it up I noticed that the colors were dull, even when I hooked my Xbox 360 up I was stunned that my old Vizio looked better. Well later that night my brother came home with the LNA46650, the color difference was insane, I took the Sony back and purched the 52" version of the Samsung ( being the bigger brother why not get the bigger TV haha). I must say that it looks amazing, the Xbox 360 is great, like I have an advantage in games becuase of how smooth it runs, and my

Never bought a TV.....ever, granted i'm still just a year out of college, but I got a new job, and with it came new rewards. That being said, I went out in search of the perfect tv for my lifestyle, and after so much review and research of all different brands I could never be more happy than I am with this TV. It symbolizes my own success, and I'm proud when people walk in my house and say wow....that's a sweet tv. LOL. Thank You Best Buy employees for helping me make this great decision. ITS A GREAT VALUE/GREAT QUALITY/LOVE IT.....It's tough to leave the couch with this tv.

I finally stepped into the modern world for TV's. I held back until they fixed that "Darned Motion Problem". I'm as techno-savvy as anyone but held out on the TV until I found the 6 series Samsung. Went through all to plasma/LCD gyrations, size calculations, yadda yadda yadda.

I have standard cable and found I get a bunch of digital stations, plus music channels and a half dozen local HD stations too. Now I know why they keep raising std cable rates-with a built in tuner, you don't need digital cable!

This thing set up easily and pretty much plug and played out of the box. Oh, and it was so easy to get this monster out of the box too! Light enough for my wife and I to easily lift onto the mount.

As for quality of image-None better. We were able to see this one side by side with it's competitors. Hands down, no comparison. We do like the touch of color because it's just a little different from all the rest. Haven't noticed any problems with glare in our bright

We did our homework and this was the best of the best. We almost bought
the Sharp 65 Aquos at 2x the price but after reading hundreds of reviews found that this was the ONE. No comparison and we looked at all models. The only other TV that equals or surpasses the quality is the Pioneer Elite Plasma.

I have never written a review before, but, relied heavily on them to make my purchase that I wanted to help others decide if I could.

I originally bought the Samsung 46" A550 model but the sound was so horrible we had to take it back. I was so reluctant to get another Samsung after this experience but we just couldn't find another brand that had the same excellent picture. And we looked at them ALL!

So, we decided to get the Boston Sound Bar to help out with the sound. That is when we also decided to get a bigger screen and went for the 52" A650. After reading this sites reviews and others, including Consumer's Report's #1 choice we thought we couldn't go wrong with Best Buy's 30 day return policy. Turns out it wasn't needed. After hooking the new one up, we realized that the 46" A550 speakers were defective since the speakers on this one was much better. Better, but not at all what a $2,300 tv should sound like! That is why I won't ever be giving this tv a five star rating.

I don't know if anyone has been paying attention but in the last year or so the picture quality of LCD displays has gotten exponentially better. This 120Hz model has a phenomenal picture. Everything is way sharper and Samsung has increased the contrast so the blacks are really black and the picture pops!!

I used to think that the plasmas had a sharper picture and I am a video gamer and faced the burn-in issue. I was sad that the LCDs couldn't keep up image wise.

Those days are gone...check out this TV in a store...it is amazing. Make sure you check out the 650 series 120Hz model!!!

WOW! What a picture. This is my first LCD after much research and viewing. I looked at all the reviews and found it's Consumer Reports #1 recommendation and the best LCD screen they've ever rated. Got it one week ago, calibrated it with Video Essentials (a must for any set, you'll get longer life from it), connected HD over the satellite and Blue Ray and I am impressed. The color of this panel is truly amazing, no motion blur, great response time and viewing angle is pretty good. Sound is decent for TV but movies you'll want a surround setup. I have it table mounted for now but plan on wall mounting soon. Every input you would want and more. I have a Panasonic LCD 720P HD projector as my main HT setup and this set just kills it and my PJ looks pretty great.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for the best out there now and I've looked at a lot of the sets in my quest for a killer display. Get it NOW!

We just purchased this TV and had it installed by the Geek Squad because we purchase a home theatre from Samsung along with it. The install was easy and fast and they even explained the remote control functions for us. The Television is beautifu with a stunning picture in HD. Can't wait for more HD channedls to appear on our cable. We did purchase another 32" for a smaller game room and it is just as beatiful.. Also, dealing with Best Buy was a great experience - they have a very knowledgable staff.

Absolutely amazing. Picture quality is unreal. Looks incredible, too. I'm definitely the envy of my friends right now. The only thing I don't get is why it never seems to register 120hz. This might be my mistake. But every time I watch HD channels, or play a blue-ray on my PS3 it always says that it is at 60hz. And I have the 120hz feature set on the highest setting. I might have to call customer service for this.

But other than that I have absolutely no complaints. I do reccomend that if you don't have surround sound, invest on it. Audio is a huge part of the whole experience.

I did all the research, read all the reviews, found the best price here on Amazon and pulled the trigger. Delivery was on time and flawless. As reported by everyone else, the picture quality is nothing short of phenomenal. One thing to remember is for DVD movies to turn off the "auto motion" setting otherwise it looks like you are watching videotape recordings. I watched Iron Man and the characters looked unnatural, then I switched off the auto motion and it looked the way a movie should.
Bottom line, there is a reason everyone is handing out 5 stars. They don't regret this purchase and neither will you.

I purchased this TV from Amazon just over a month ago. At first I was hesitant buying from Amazon in case I needed to return for any reason, I knew it would be a hassle (reshipping the item and all). So I went to my local Best Buy and Circuit City where the TV was $700 more and asked if they could match it (it would be easier to return it there if need be). Best Buy would only come down to $100 over the Amazon price, and then you'd have to add the 10.25% Chicago tax, which is another couple hundred dollars (Amazon had free shipping on this item). Also, Amazon dropped the price $127 AFTER I ordered the TV and BEFORE it had been delivered. After calling their great support line they were kind enough to reimburse me the $127. I have absolutely no complaints in ordering from Amazon.

I did a lot of research using several websites and publications (CNET.com, Consumer Reports, etc.) and this TV always ranked in the top for 10 for 50" and larger LCD TV's. Then I went to the stores in

If you’re looking for an outstanding TV that is going to make people drop their jaws. Then you’re looking for this TV. I researched LCD TV's for a year before I finally bought this magnificent display of excellence. Seriously, I can't say enough about this TV. My only suggestion is to get a PS3 and watch a blueray film. You'll never want to go out again. HDMI cables are a MUST.

WARNING: after buying this TV,all other TV's will become unwatchable!

I'm one of those geek types who has to research research research before buying a sourdough bagel, so you can only imagine what went into my buying this amazing TV. Over on the avsforum.com this Samsung is very highly regarded, preferred slightly over the Sony 120hz LCD equivalent. The main argument seemed to be about the glare from the shiny Samsung screen vs the matted Sony. Shiny = reflection, matted = less vibrant picture. But almost everyone who had compared the two side by side (people actually buy two TVs and then return one! I know!) sided with the Samsung as the much better picture with much darker blacks (the contrast ratio of this TV is much higher than the current competition).

I considered the 750 model also, but was a little concerned about the so called 'halo' effect where people had complained about light leaking from the screen, through the frame and making little light patterns on the outer edge of the frame. I never actually saw this in the store, and it apparently
