I just bought this TV three nights ago to replace my 37" Insignia 720p LCD. What a difference. I had been keeping my eyes on these Samsung TVs for a few years, it was my dream TV. My fiancee and I found this as an open item (mint condition, was only on display for a week, and I was able to purchase the extended warranty) when we walked into Best Buy and the price was unbelievable (hundreds less than the current sale price of $1,700). She told me we should buy it and I agreed. Therefore, we bought it.
When I got it home, I set it up within about 10 minutes of turning it on. The menus make navigation very easy. The picture is bright and EXTREMELY detailed. Movies like the Dark Knight and Planet Earth look stunning, my jaw literally dropped a few times over the course of viewing. Digital broadcasts (don't have HD package yet), blu-ray movies, and Xbox 360 games all look ridiculously perfect. Ridiculous. Standard definition broadcasting, as with all large HDTVs, is not good.

excellent 52 inch lcd. I had this tv for over a month now. I have cable hooked up to it, and even the analog channels look good on this tv. the
hd channels are incredible they look so life like and realy clear, I dont
notice much motion blur or slowness, because it does have the 5 ms
refresh rate. thats good enough for me. so no need for 120hz. the sound
is not real bad, but a home theater system will cure that problem, any one
who sees it just goes wow thats nice. I mounted it on the wall looks sweet.
I would recommend it to any one. samsung is the way to go.

I’ve bought this TV a week ago, and wanted to wait until I got some use out of it before I commented on it. First off, the picture is great and actually turns to awesome when connected to a HD tuner or a blue-ray player. I even connected my PS3 to it and all I want to do is sit around and pick out every single detail that shows up on the clarity and sharpness of the games. The down side of this TV is the sound and the remote. The sound is really bad. My daughter’s 13in little princess tv has 2 times better sound then this tv. Just like everybody else connected a theater system for sound, which is great for watching movies and playing games. But, I don’t need surround sound when I just watching regular tv. When I just use the speakers from this tv, it sounds like an interview on an AM radio station. Changing the sound settings don’t help much. I gave it a "2" only becuae it does have speakers that make a sound. The remote is also a real let down. The functions are

Recently my DLP television went out after 2yrs. Did all the research on LCD compared to Plasma brands. Decided to go with a Samsung which recieved great reviews plus all my friends have this brand. Was going with the 50" plasma that Best Buy has on sale but my living area has alot of windows. I found this 5 series on sale at another electronics store with a great price. So Best Buy priced matched. Got it home easy setup and GREAT picture.... Can't go wrong with this buy...

I reasearched long and hard to pick out a 52" flat screen and decided on this one. I am not dissapointed.
This flat screen has all of the functions that you could possably need with a beautiful crisp pictue.
I was a little concerned about it only having a 60 Htz. refresh rate but havent seen a problem with pictulation. All in all I would rate this TV a 99% out of 100%.

My wife just purchased this TV yesterday for my early Valentines gift, and it is the best surprise ever, I had been looking @ the smaller Samsung plasma that was on sale and would have been satisfied w/that but this TV is OUSTANDING, the "Picture Quality", features and easy setup will have you and your family watching movies in a matter of minutes, don't hesitate like me purchase it I promise you will not be disapointed!

We shopped for awhile before we made our decision on this wonderful TV. It has picture that would be very hard to beat at any angle. I would love to have another one in the rec room. I can't say enough positive about it. And we also commend the Sales Team at the Brooklyn, Ohio Best Buy with no pressure sales and a ton of info about the product.

We starting toying with the notion of buying an HDTV around December 08. Researched with consumerreports.com. Samsung was by far the highest rated. 3 of there models are in the top five. Actually #'s 1,2,3. We originally wanted a 7 or 6 series. But were told that due to the high gloss finish of the screen, wouldn't work in our media room because of the large picture windows. So the sales associate recommended the 5 series beacuse of the matte screen. It had pretty much all the same fatures of the 6 and 7 series. Just not the 120hz refresh rate. But that only affects bluray and certain shows on tv. The 550 was on sale for 1899.00, but they price matched to another retailer for 1699.00!!!!! Plus a free calibration and a $200 gift card to NFL.com. Could it possibly be any better!?!? The most bang for the buck. The best investment ive ever made. The best TV ive ever watched or seen. Also the XBOX 360 is unreal with this TV. Insane graphics! Just go buy it already!!!!!!

Been watching this TV for around a year, reading customer reviews and comparing it to other similar TVs. Saw it drop in price so figured I would take a closer look and watched the set beside an LG, Sony, and Insigna. I was sold on this set but let my wife make the final decision. After some time she selected this Samsung as well stating that the screen did not show as much glare as all the others. Also she liked the detail of the screen (Discovery Earth was playing on each set). I must say that we have another Samsung model TV (56” DLP) and while I have not set to two sets beside each other even our children agree this 52” LCD is better quality.
Now, the audio has been pointed out by others as not so great BUT not sure I would expect much from LCD TV’s today. They are made to blow your socks off with surround and in the next couple of weeks I will buy a sound system that will support that. What I can say is that the audio is absolutely acceptable for general use

I purchased this tv for my husband, who insisted on the 52" model. I thought that was too big and wanted 46". The tv is for him, so I got the big one, and I couldn't be happier. It is like a home theater, rather than just a big tv.We got a Samsung Home Theater System with it and that just put it over the top. The picture is beautiful and can be adjusted to your preferences on brightness and color, among other things. It was also a very reasonably priced tv, compared to others. We just love that thing all around!

When looking for a TV at the store the feeds dont do any justice to any television. Be prepared to be blown away by this one when you get it home. When we buy a TV of this quality we want to get the full effect. HD from Cable, Satelite, etc. Sound from a good quality digital surround system. This TV delivers on picture and external sound. The picture settings and calibrations are exceptional. Do the research and check out the AVS forums and get the calibration setting for this TV for FREE. www.avsforums do search for the model number of this TV calibration settings. You wont be dissapointed! I was always a Sony fan but now I go for the best, Samsung for TV, Panasonic for Blue Ray, and Pioneer for Audio. Great Job Samsung and Best Buy!

I'll admit.. I had reservations about ordering a 52" LCD Television off the internet. My biggest concern was shipping. In the "old days", you go the electronics store then begrudgingly call a friend who has a pickup and ask to borrow it for a few hours. You and the salesman throw the TV in the back, strap it down.. pray it doesn't start raining, bring it home and have someone help to unload it. Whew!
Not the case with Amazon.
I was amazed at how wonderful the entire transaction took place. After deciding on this model, I placed the order. A few days later, I received a pleasant call from a freight company in my nearest metro, Cleveland, OH. The nice woman on the other line confirmed my address and scheduled a date and time for delivery.
That Friday, a friendly driver showed up, unloaded the TV, and brought it right into my place. Being somewhat cautious, I asked if I could inspect the TV. The driver happily opened the box for me and we made sure everything was A-OK. The TV

This TV is great. I am really glad I took the dive. Everything is perfect. Only one problem: the sound quality. I think instead of speakers they cut the bottom out of 2 tuna fish cans and ran a string between them and stuck them into the speaker holes. My wife knows nothing about, nor cares at all about audio, video etc. Her first words when we turned it on were "Wow, that sounds awful". I adjusted all of the settings. Adjusted the built in equalizer, no go. Ran right out and bought the Sony sound bar. Problem solved. This should'nt really be a problem, though. Most people do buy a surround system.

I had no problem with the tv. It is great so far. Glad I went this route and saved a few hundred bucks on taxes. The only issue was the delivery. This company used a delivery service CEVA. If you track your shipment you can actually schedule to get your product sooner. I found this out by tracking my shipment and calling the place. They gave a 4 hour window, and was 30 minutes passed the 4 hour window.

The picture quality on this is amazing. Everyone that has seen it has only one thing to say. It is so pretty. It is nice that it has 3 HDMI inputs so I didn't have to buy a hub. The sound quality is good for a TV, but not great compared to external speakers. My only complaint is that it takes a little long to turn on. Not incredibly long, maybe like ten seconds. Overall this is a great TV. I would definitely recommend it.

Side by side with the 650 and 750, there's no difference in the pictures to my eyes.
They have a few more tiny bells and whistles, but not enough to justify the extra price.
.
The upper models for $$$ more have 120hz but I couldn't see it.
Go with the LN52A550.

Well I couldn't afford a Cadillac so I got the Cadillac of televisions. The LN52A550 is a beautiful television that produces rich colors, deep blacks and has an imperceptible motion blur. The set itself is gorgeous with a thin black bezel and hidden speakers.
Depending upon the room its going in, you'd be much better with this than the 650, the screen has a matte finish that doesn't reflect light and the 120 Hz is nothing more than an overrated selling point.
The only downside is the speakers leave something to be desired. The set was built to produce world class picture, if you can, splurge to hook up a receiver and speakers. If not check out avsforum to get the speaker settings that make due for time being.
All in all, you will be thrilled with your purchase of this gorgeous tv.

If you have an outside antenna the only way to put channels in is to do and auto scan. When you do, it erases all previously programmed channels. This is a serious flaw for people who use an antenna because a weaker stations have to be picked up by turning the antenna rotor. Other t.v.'s have a manual scan to do this but this one does not.
The onboard sound is not good at all.
There is no guide function. This is very helpful because you can look at the upcoming programs on each channel thoughout the day. Don't be fooled. The info button only shows the program playing at the time. Other much cheaper T.V.'s have all these features.
I called Samsung and they seemed to not think it was a big deal but when you pay $2000.00 for a T.V. you would assume it had all the great functions a $500.00 T.V. has.

I recently bought this TV from Amazon. It is simply awesome! Great picture (way better than I expected). I visited Best Buy and CC a couple times to look at it and I thought the picture was 'average'. Once I got this home and hooked up some HDMI cords (which I also bought online at amazon), the picture was absolutely amazing. Watching nonHD sources is not awful, but it is amazing to see the difference.
Couple things to share:
1. Buy your HDMI cables online and early. Dont spend $40-60 in a store when you can get decent cable online for under 10.
2. Call CEVA as soon as you get a tracking number to schedule your delivery. If you wait they will send you a letter basically saying that you need to call them. This will take several days away from your viewing enjoyment.
3. Surround sound is a must! The speakers are not good for anything other than watching TV late at night when you dont want to wake anyone up. Watching a movie with nothing but the TV speakers would be torture.

After only two weeks of ownership, I had to write a review and let others in doubt know how amazing the picture quality is on this TV. Never having been a fan of LCD TVs, I have been in the plasma HDTV camp for about 5 years. After purchasing 3 Panasonic Plasma TVs (including the 65-inch TH-65PX600U monster) and one Samsung 50-inch plasma, I saw my parent's Samsung LCD and was blown away. Now, even their model is blown away by this one in picture quality.
After applying the settings found on the AVS Forums, the picture on this TV is amazing. I've really become a Samsung LCD lover now.
Also, the delivery by CEVA was not too bad. I got it one day early.

Amazing in every way!!! Picture quality is just incredible. I chose the 550 series over the 650 or 750 because they both have a glossy screen that reflects everything. Lots of windows in the room where I put my 550 and no reflection issues at all. Also with the 550, I see no ghosting when watching football or the olympics, and the reds are great. I can't see any reason to pay the extra money for the 120HZ and "fuller reds" of the 650 & 750 series. I combined the new TV with a Samsung HT-Z510 home theatre system (not then available thru Amazon, but $399 at Circuit City) They work very well together and the sound is excellent.
Amazon white delivery service was also just great. Delivered and set up in 5 days.

I had a Panasonic 42" but decided to upgrade to a 50+. I researched for a few months and narrowed it down between the samsung lcd, panasonic plasma. After visiting the showroom and seeing them side by side there was no contest. I took the Samsung home and the install was a breeze. Turned it on and I was in heaven. I've not seen another as bright as this one. I actually take it off of dynamic mode at night because its too much. I would recommend this tv to anyone looking for the clearest picture without paying $4000+.

I've been lusting after a HDTV for years and after getting some money back after closing the construction loan on my new house, I decided it was time to get one. After throughly researching 50+ inch LCD TVs in my price range, an older discontinued 52inch Toshiba REGZA was the only one that really appealed to me. But when it arrived three weeks late and damaged, I decided against having a replacement TV shipped to me (which would likely be shipped and delivered by the same morons who broke this one) and asked for a refund. I went back to researching TVs and eventually decided on the Samsung from amazon. The specs were better than the majority of others I'd looked at and it was $172 cheaper than the REGZA I was returning. Plus, it came with amazon's white glove service, which I would have gladly paid more for after what I went through trying to get the REGZA delivered and returned.
The guys from Eagle called me the day before they arrived to set up a time to deliver and then arrived 15

My recent purchase of a Samsung 550 series LCD TV has been a fantastic buy. I debated on purchasing the 550 series or one of Samsung's 600 series. After viewing both TV's side by side I could not distinguish the difference. I viewed fast action scenes and could not detect any edge blurring. The 550 performs fantastic in my room that has a great deal of sunlight. Amazon is the only way to go. They had great pricing, very professional delivery, and the TV showed up at my house in half the time they promised it would. I'm very pleased with the product.

I went through 2 other big screen TV's before settling on this one. First, the Samsung 46" 120 hz model. The 120 hz thing looks way too weird - almost like everything is a soap opera, so I took it back. Then a 50" Samsung Plasma TV. The colors were nice but the response time was way too slow for games like DDR or Guitar Hero, so I took that back. Lastly we ended up with this model. You can get more screen for the same price and it works great for games and movies and normal TV. Settings are easy to customize, nice big size is really great to watch movies on. I can't think of any downsides to it.

I bought this T.V. several weeks ago , and I am very pleased with the quality of the picture. The colors are rich and natural. The blacks true black and the whites are pure.A samsung Blue Ray dvd player came with this T.V. where I purchased it, and watching the movie in hd was excellent. The only Complaint I Have Is the sound quality. It is very poor. Because of that I Cannot Give a rating of 5

It took me a long time to decide between this one, the 6 series and the 7 series. What really did it for me was the matte screen. They say the super-glossy screen of the 6 and 7 series helps the contrast, but I stared at both TV's in a Circuit City for a long, long time (a total of about 4 hours of time between about 6 visits at different times of the day/night) and I simply could not see the difference in that respect. What I could see, clearly, was my reflection in the 6 and 7 series TV's, but not in the 5 series. Though I did like the appearance of the 6 and 7 series better, the 5 series simply performs just as well IMO, costs less and doesn't have the irritating reflective screen.
HD looks breath-taking, SD looks good too and gaming on this bad boy is fantastic. It'd be nice if it had a DVI input instead to use as a PC monitor, but VGA is good enough. Still can do 1080p over VGA, the colors look great and it makes a fantastic PC monitor.
Just so everyone's clear, the 5 series

I love the TV that I purchased from Amazon. It is great and the picture is amazing. You cant and wont go wrong with this LCD. However, I will never purchase from Amazon again. First, I was told and promised that the unit was in stock and given a ship date and then a delivery date. The LCD shipped out 2 days later than the date I was given. I was still promised by CS at Amazon that the TV would arrive by the given delivery date...guess what? it was 2 days late arriving as well. Then I had a delivery set up for between 11:00AM and 3:00PM (they said they needed a 4 hr window and if the driver would be late, that he would call to inform or see if it would need to be rescheduled). The driver did not show up until after 5:30PM and NO call to let me know. He was then to unpack the TV and remove the trash. Nope, didnt do that either. I will never buy from AMAZON AGAIN.

I've had the television (Samsung LN52A550 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV ) for a while now, and I must say it's the best TV I have ever had. The first time I saw a Samsung LCD TV was at my Son's house. The clarity was so impressive and the colors so crisp and clear that I decided right then, I had to have one. One thing I did do was to obtain a DVD that instructs you on how to properly set up the TV. It comes with some colored filters to maximize the colors and contrast as well as clarity. To sum it up... The Samsung LN52A550 is well worth the money. You won't be disappointed!

We purchased this TV for lounge area in MBR. We agonized over 46" versus 52" and are extremely happy that we opted for the 52". The picture is wonderful and the swivel base allows us to angle TV to either sitting area or bed. Very happy that we opted for the matte screen rather than the polished screen on the 650 and 750 as our room is very bright. We paid $1809 which was a very fair and competitive price at time we ordered and received $100 credit when the price dropped four weeks later (within Amazon's 30 day price protection window). We are in remote area of NM yet the set was delivered and setup in just 4 days.

Picture absolutely stunning. Vibrant colors, crystal clear HD output. Even SD Channels are nice. All I have is ordinary Philips VHF/UHF Antenna I got from RadioShack and I am able to receive plenty of free-to-air HD Channels. The only issue sometimes I face is remote not responding promptly when I click buttons. I have to move my hands here and there especially Volume button to make it work. I think a decent Universal Remote Control will solve this problem. Other than that its absolutely gorgeous. Really Love this set.

I have no complaints about the television, but about the Samsung company itself. People who purchase from Samsung need to read this review to know the nightmare that may be in store for you should something go wrong with your new television. I would STRONGLY urge anyone who purchases a product from Samsung to make sure you purchase the extra in-store warranty that guarantees immediate exchange at the store you purchase it from in case anything goes wrong. That way, if the tv breaks, you don't have to deal with Samsung Customer Service and can simply get it exchanged at the store you purchased it from. We purchased the 2007 model of this t.v. on December 23rd, 2007 and it broke within a month of us buying it. The LN52 A550 is the model t.v. that they will be replacing it with after 8 months, yes, you read that right, 8 MONTHS of wrangling with Samsung Customer Service department. We paid for a $2,000 television and got to actually watch it with enjoyment for about a month before these

I have had my TV for nearly a month now and I love it. I am coming from a 27" CRT TV, so of course, I'm going to be impressed. However, here are a few things I would like to pass along to those of you in the market for a new flat panel TV:
* LCD versus Plasma:
If you are having a hard time deciding between LCD and plasma, LCD has nearly caught up with plasma in terms of being the better flat panel TV. You still pay a bit more for a comprable LCD though. If you are hooking up a PC to your TV, will be pausing live TV, or anything else that keeps the picture still for a while, definitely consider an LCD as plasmas still have their problems with ghosting. I was in a Circuit City recently and looked at a new plasma TV with all the "anti burn-in" technologies built in. After accidently leaving an image on the screen for 4 hours, there was obvious "burn-in" on the screen.
* Screen Size:
I originally started looking at 42" TVs, but realized that the picture quality is so good on HDTVs that you

When matched with TiVo HD, Time Warner HDTV service and a quality HDMI cable, the result is stunning for HDTV channels. I find myself mesmerized by the output quality, and I don't want to go back to watching regular tv channels (even from cable). Regular (compressed) channels from Time Warner are unimpressive (they look filled with noise). Blueray is phenomenal.
Even compared to my 47" Panasonic plasma and Sony 32" LCD which are about a year old, this unit's display of colors, including blacks, is far superior.

This TV was apparently a lemon. It was purchased by my in-laws and they only had it 8 days when the power supply blew. We are still waiting to have it fixed, but it was a good TV while it lasted. I have done a lot of research and cannot find a trend with this model. I personally have a LN52A650 and love it. It has a great picture, especially with HD sources.

This is my first HD TV I have purchased in my life. I have been having this TV for 2 weeks now. There are no dead pixels. The picture quality and colors are great! The sound quality is average. There is no bass and/or treble controls on this TV. The sound on this TV is loud enough for a small room. If your room is really huge then it might not be loud enough for you. I would recommend for you to buy a home theater system for this TV to get the full amazing sound experience. The screen barely has any glare on it when I open all my windows when it's sunny outside. Standard and high definition channels look amazing on this TV if you use a HDMI connection. I don't see any ghosting when I play my video games or computer games. The menu system for this TV is very user friendly. I wish Samsung made bass and treble controls available in the menu options like the Sony Bravia TVs. Overall this TV is great!

Purchased LN52A650 from Circuit City and returned it for LN52A550 from Amazon. Since my purchase from Amazon, the price dropped twice and I requested adjustment and received credit for the difference totaling $102. Amazon has a great price and excellent customer service.
As far as the TV is concerned, it is absolutely amazing. I'm watching Euro 2008 Italy vs. Spain as I type this and the picture quality is stunning. After experiencing both TVs, there isn't that much of a difference in picture quality between the A550 and the A650 model. In fact, I would say they are equal. The A550 model has less reflection compared to the A650 model. This was one of the reasons why I decided to go with the A550 model (The other reason being the price). The sound quality was horrible when arrived but after adjusting it with the setting recommended in this thread it made a big difference. It is not the best sounding TV out there but it is more than adequate.

I've been researching for months now and finally decided on the Samsung A550 series. I just got the TV 2 days ago, my first HDTV. I was originally planning on getting a 46" but couldn't find the deal i wanted so i ended up picking the 52". I was kind of nervous since i'm getting a larger sized TV than planned and might be overwhelmed with the size (9' viewing distance). When we got it set-up it was awesome. It was big but not overwhelming. The size was just perfect and couldn't be happier. I liked the matte/semi-gloss screen because i have 2 big windows behind the couch directly in-front of the TV and no glare at all even with the blinds open. This is one of the main reasons i opted for the 550 series. The viewing angles are very nice too since i have a love seat and a recliner chair on the side of my living room and it can be easily viewed without any problems. I didn't have HD service yet, so i just hooked up indoor antennas to pick up OTA (over-the-air) channels and the built-in digital

Got this set after my 56" dlp was worked on multiple times, and not able to be fixed correctly. Although it is smaller than the dlp I had, I like it better and don't notice the size difference. It has the typical Samsung quality, and little extras like the start up/shutdown sound, and the little blue accent light sealed the deal for me (I love blue lights, and sound confirmations). The price on the tv when I got it made it an even trade for my dlp at $1899.99. I am very happy with this tv.

I bought this TV after reviewing various televisions for months. The picture is amazing! I had read about glare problems with older models but I have this TV in a bright room with absolutely no problems. I don't understand anyone that buys a tv this expensive and doesn't have it hooked up to surround sound.
I would recommend buying the TV from Amazon and not another company thru Amazon. Two days after I ordered from Amazon, they dropped the price and offered a free Tivo HD box. I called Amazon and they shipped me the Tivo and credited me the difference no questions asked. Since I couldn't use the Tivo with satellite, I sold it on Ebay for $198. Amazon has credited me $100 so far.

Just received Samsung LN52A550 52" LCD model, and connected HD camcorder thru HDMI and picture quality is excellent, also set up to view HD & SD channels off-air antenna for broadcast and was amazed how vivid channels displayed. Sound was decent, but recommend Hi-Fi surround sound system for overall satisfaction. Did my research comparing many different LCD & plasma brands and this was the best price for the normal features it offers with this particular Samsung LN52A550 52" model, very pleased with purchase from Amazon.

What a great television! It was easy to set up, the picture is awesome and makes watching sports like being there! I got this 52" Samsung HD LCD TV for my birthday and my wife pointed out I got an inch for every year! The best present ever!

We love the tv. The picture when in HD is fantastic. The only drawback is the sound. The speakers are in the back. We had to hook up extra speakers in order to hear it. Over all we are very pleased with our purchase.

I bought this TV from Amazon a few days ago. CEVA delivered the TV to me 2 days ago well before the delivery commit date. CEVA service is good and I am completely satisfied with the delivery. There is one problem though. I did a mistake by not picking up the Special promo of Tivo DVR at the time of the order. I realised it later and called Amazon. There is a weird and laughable procedure to get the DVR added to my order. Amazon asked me to cancel my order and reorder the TV again with special promotion. I could not cancel the order since the TV is ready for shipping. Amazon representative told me that I have to refuse the TV when CEVA delivers it to me. I asked them why can not I ask CEVA to stop the shipping right away. Why should I wait unitl it is delivered to me. After a few conversations, I called up and asked CEVA not to ship the product to me. CEVA not willing to do it until they get the confirmation from Amazon :-) Again afte a few calls, Amazon asked CEVA not to ship the product.

A while ago I got a Philips 52PFL7422 LCD from Costco. I couldn't get the Philips to look right, even after adjustments using DVE, so decided to return it and get a different brand / model.
After some research and in-store comparisons, I decided to get the Samsung LN 52A550. I checked Amazon and the price was less than I paid for the Philips, and I trusted Amazon, being a satisfied customer of theirs for years.
From the start the Samsung was MUCH better than my previous set. It had none of the issues I had with the Philips. I was surprised how well the colors and black levels looked before I did any tweaking. Wanting to get the best picture I could, I set all the enhancements off and used DVE (Digital Video Essentials) to fine-tune the set. The result was a great picture, not overblown like store displays, but not dim or washed out either.
To summarize, here is my opinion of the pros and cons of this set.
Pros:
1. Great contrast - adjusted backlight, contrast and brightness so

The picture is stunning! What a great model. I switched to this TV from the 50" plasma due to some image retention issues that worried me they would become permanent. Never could I be happier. I can play my Xbox all day, and watch widescreen movies without fear now. The only issue which is fixed by disabling the energy saving feature of the TV is that which the TV blocks IR signals to my cable STB. It only was for the first 5 minutes or so of being on, but has been noted to be a flaw in some Samsung and Sony LCDs and Plasma tvs. After I disabled the energy saving function all returns to normal and everything plays nicely. So don't let that scare you away from this TV, but I wanted you as a consumer to know this before you bought this TV and thought you got a lemon. Other than that small hiccup the TV rocks!

I did a lot of research by going to local stores and reading reviews. This TV has an extremely sharp picture that rivals TV sets costing $800 more. Once I adjusted the sound (which made a significant improvement), I bought the Amazon suggested Pearless tilting mounting bracket & hooked it up to my stereo system. I had considered the 46" but for less than $300 more I got the 52"...I could not be happier with my purchase!

I first bought a larger 61 inch Samsung Television but it was too big for my living room. I wanted something a little more mute that wouldn't dominate my room. I did a weeks worth of reasearch and took the original tv back and fell in love with this Samsung right away.
This TV has great features and a great picture. I do not consider myself a expert but i have done a lot of reasearch on tv's and liked everything about this one.
I really liked the 650 model but could not see the justification of paying 700 more for a tv with interenet and a slightly higher contrast ratio. Plus i would have a tough time getting a ethernet cord to the back of the TV in my household.
This wound up being the best choice. Love the Samsung brand and love this tv even more.
If you are in the market for a television i would highly recommend these new Samsung line of televisions. Just so happened that the 550 was the best fit for me.

This TV is wonderful, my first generation HD-ready CRT RPTV finally bit it. I wanted to wait for the full digital switchover to occur before I bought my next tv, but it was not meant to be. After much research I chose this unit as it has a wonderful price/performance ratio among the top tier, 1080P candidates. I was looking for a good 50ish inch tv going into a very bright and sunny room for 70/20/10 TV/xbox/movie duty. $$$ / square inch cost of this unit is excellent, not much of a surcharge over the 46 inch unit which is nice. I did the audio and video tweaks outlined in AVS forum, the tv is just plain awesome.

Just got this TV a couple of days ago. It has an awsome picture. Very sharp 30,000:1 contrast ratio and a 5 ms response time for watching sports or action movies. Was hessitant about going with LCD at first because of hearing about the blur you get with sports and fast motion. NON-EXISTANT on this TV! It also has a matte finish on the screen so you don't get those annoying reflections that you get on plasma. Samsung has stepped up and really made a highend tv at an affordable cost. WOULD RECOMEND TO ANYONE WHO IS CONSIDERING A NEW TV!!!

Finally jumped from 36" screen to this 50", so we're VERY happy with picture size---buy big!! Picture is clear and haven't hooked up to our cable's HD feature as yet; don't think it could get much better with it (a friend has & don't see much difference). Have only had it 4 months, so no problems at all yet. Looking to purchase another smaller HD for another room & will go with a
Samsung again, I hope (they're quite a bitter higher priced than other models in the smaller (26") sizes.

I had narrowed my choice for a new tv to either the Panasonic 50" plasma or the Samsung 52" LCD. My daughter has the Panasonic which is a very nice set. But due to the brightness of the room, I decided on the Samsung. I've had it set up for the past week and all I can say is this is an amazing tv. Regarding the price, local big box stores are selling this for $2799. I paid $2338 at Amazon on April 2 and due to the 30 day best price policy, to date I have received $120 in credits to my card. If you're in the market for a tv, I cannot say enough about the Samsung LN52A550P or Amazon.

I was trying to decide between this, the samsung 71 and the sony xbr4. Though the sony was a bit brighter, it could not keep up with the richness of the color on the samsungs. I wanted the 120Hz (A650), but its really mostly marketing, the real attribute that you want to look at is the response time and this one was 5ms! That is why you don't see any motion blur on this LCD. I would recommend the latest samsungs including the 650 (if you can afford it), but the price difference was close to $1000, it didn't justify me paying that much more just for 120Hz and a more reflective screen.
The screen is very nice, not very reflective, but has some gloss to it to bring out the deep blacks.

Short and sweet review: ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS LCDTV. I am technical expert and have seen and setup many lcd and plasma hdtv's and if you are thinking about this latest offering from samsung, then look no further. It is that good. 1080p via blu-ray or hd dvd players is breathtaking, when the tv is set up correctly and tweaked. NEVER use the factory default dynamic settings. Those are for store displays only. USE A HIGH QUALITY HDMI CABLE from monoprice.com and you will be blown away. MOVE OVER SONY, SHARP AND TOSHIBA! Get one of these puppies while they are hot and for a hot amazon price of $2300 ( what I paid)with free shipping and no tax. You will not be disappointed!

Just got this TV a couple day ago and it is by far the best TV purchase I have made. I did a lot of research first and decided on a sharp 52d64u before this television. Bought the sharp and had to take two back do to banding and dead pixels. I decided I didn't want to deal with Sharp anymore so I took a look at the samsung. Ended up being a bit more than the sharp, I had a good price match on the sharp, but is worth every penny. The picture is great, even right out of the box, no banding or problems, just a really great uniform screen with huge detail in HD. The brightness and contrast ratio are great, and the black level performance is awesome. The screen isn't matte, but it also isn't shinny like the 650. It is a blend of the two finishes, much like the Sony XBR4. I have really enjoyed this TV and put its performance up their with the XBR, but for a cheaper price, and in my opinion, a nicer design. Overall a great TV with a great in depth picture.
