I bought this TV about nine months ago and recently, it started to show verticle lines. I called Amazon and they differed me to Samsung. I called Samsung. They were very polite and scheduled an appointment to fix my TV. The techinician had to come back three times to fix the TV. He suggested to buy high priced electronics form big chain stores such as Best Buy, [...] or Sears as they are classified as Class I stores to receive the best quality prodduct. The Class II stores, such as smaller chain stores, get the B quality products and lastly, the C grade products are sold to online clearance such as Amazon. He indicated that majority of his service calls are for the TVs purchased through online retail places. My TV is fixed for now and keeping my finger crossed as I only have few months left on warrenty.

I've now viewed two Samsung LCD tvs including this model. They both have the same disconcerting problem that others may call a feature. Yes, the picture is sharp. However, objects in the foreground are excessively sharp and well defined relative to the background. It makes me feel like I'm watching the program through a cheap digicam. I don't know what you'd call this effect but I can't call it a good viewing experience. Now, that picture 'feature' may be good for football games but not for network tv shows where it's the most pronounced. It's evident to a lesser extent on movies. I would not buy this tv.

I purchased the LN46A650 in December 08 and it is my first flat panel television. I currently have an aging Pioneer Elite RPTV in the den/home theater so this Samsung is for the kitchen/family room.
Delivery: Overall delivery was very good and set up was ok, although the delivery man told my wife he could not connect it to our cable (Fios HD), only to an antenna. Since I don't have an antenna he turned it on to static and was then satisfied it was working and left.
Initial Impression: When I got home and connected it to the Fios box with HDMI my wife's first words were that it just looks so much more high def than our Pioneer HDTV and I agreed.
Physical: I was initially very worried about the red touch of color, but it really is barely noticeable unless there is a back light or a lot of light in the room. The TV is not too heavy and overall has a very attractive sleek look. It does collect dust on the bezel and stand especially, so dust often.

Given an HD input source (i.e., HD cable or DVD/Blue-Ray) the monitor will produce very sharp pictures. Watching standard definition programs, however, is a bit disappointing. Standard def video images appear blurred and there is visible pixelation.
The remote control is easy to use with large buttons and a relatively intuitive layout. Note: the Closed Caption button will only work if the TV is connected to your cable box via the "Antenna" input jack. If you are connecting to your cable system via the component or HDMI jacks, then Closed Captioning can only be activated via the cable provider's remote control unit.
Due to the many connection options provided with this unit, I had to contact Samsung technical support to get a better understanding of the various inputs for antenna, component and HDMI connections.

Its difficult to say anymore over the 800+ fav reviews. But yes, I read most of them, did a lot of research before buying, and finally settled on this TV. It is the best for the money and probably produces a better image than even more expensive models.
Standard TV is great, bluray is excellent - all is mind blowing. Just buy this TV at the best price you can find - stop waiting for better TVs. You will not regret it.

This is our second Samsung LN46A650. Great TV. Price was excellent. I was a little bit concerned purchasing over the internet. Transaction was smooth. The white glove delivery was great. The delivery of this Tv was better than the prior purchase from a well known big bog store.

The first time, i ordered a 750 used model. I had the red cracking issue, even though it was listed used-like new by warehouse. so i asked amazon to return the 750, and purchased a 650. the item was cracked terribly at the corner as if it had been dropped or abused in assembly or xport. i returned both the 750 and the 650 that day.
i was a little cautious on ordering another tv due to my bad luck. but the reimbursement process was very accomodating. it took almost 2 weeks, but credited right back to my card. no hassle.
in the meantime the 650 model had dropped 150ish bucks from 2 weeks prior. i decided to give it another shot.
this time a perfect tv arrived. sound is a little to be desired, but picture and design beautiful. after a little hassle, i am now very satisfied.
i feel secure ordering and returning due to the ease of the reimbursement.

Samsung LN46A650 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color This TV works as advertised. Picture and sound quality are great. Integrates with other electronic products perfectly. It also looks great and is so much lighter than my 42" plasma.

Couldn't pass up on this deal especially with additonal $200 off with 'samtv200' coupon.
Loved the buying experience...no shipping costs or taxes....and the tv arrived in about 4 days in great shape by CEVA Logistics.
Setup was easy especially with the many HDMI connections. The only problem I had was the 'need' to update all my home theater equipment...new blu-ray player, new audio equipment, new furniture to put under lcd.
Love the ease of operating the device and the picture quality is incredible. I am coming from a high end projection tv (about 6 years old) that was HD, but there is no comparison to the new Samsung. Vivid colors, amazing detail and I've even been impressed that non-HD signals are even quite clear.
All in all...a great buying experience....great deal...great tv.

Ordered after reading numerous positive reviews here and have been using the TV for about 3 weeks now. First model showed up with serious picture problems. After 10-15 a large bar of discolored or corrupted pixels would appear mid-screen. Called the shipper, Amazon, and Samsung in order to initiate the replacement process. I have to admit, Amazon stepped up immediately, shipping the replacement TV the next day. Had to wait 5 more business days for the new TV to arrive, but man was it worth it! I use this TV exclusively as a monitor for my PS3 and DVD player. If you are looking for an excellent monitor for gaming at 1080P, look no further. This TV at this price is a fantstic package. Every game looks beautiful and the HDMI to optical audio out works perfectly with my surround sound system. Haven't hooked up an HDTV source, but will eventually and I am confident the image quality will be superb. Blu-ray videos look fantastic, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes for optimal playback of 24fps

This is the first television I have ever brought. Now I have had TV my father would by them or I would get them for gifts, but this is the first set, I have ever brought myself.. I did some research for the top HDTV and this Samsung was #4. Words can not really describe the picture quality, I have Digital Cable and use the HDMI cable and pictuers come across in 1080p.. Man my favorite show is nature and Earth shows just the colors it is like you are right there. You can reach out and touch it.. I would highly suggest this televison. I love the melody the TV plays coming on and going off.. Great number of connections I don't even know what they are all for but I believe any connection I could possibly need is there. The picture is a must see.. If you want a really nice TV you must buy this samsung, everything else pales in comparison.

This product is great. The moment I got it out of the box and onto my old TV's stand, I thought something was wrong with me, like I was having an acid flash back or something. Everything my wife and I watched in High Def, looked like real life. This TV blew the other TV's away at the store, but the feed they use for all the TV's at the displays do this item no justice. I don't even need to use the 120 Hz to have jaw dropping sports dropping experience. We watched our DVR'ed Super Bowl 42, you could see the bacteria in Randy Moss' tears. Spiderman 3..... forget it. The movie that once blew my mind with it's special effects, now looks like a fifth grader made it with his lap top. You have to see it to believe it. It has changed my home theater setting completely and totally. Phenomenal!

I usually NEVER do reviews for any of the products that I purchase. However after having this TV, I feel compelled to help other potential buyers with their questions or concerns regarding this product. Three words define this TV… BEST TV EVER! Yes that may sound like a gross exaggeration but I kid you not. This is my second overall LDC HDTV. I’ve been researching different models for the last 3 months. I started off looking at DLPs because of their large screen in comparison to cost. But then when I figured out that it was a dying technology, I quickly changed my mind. When I started looking at LCD’s my main objective was to get one with resolution of 1080p, and 120Hz refresh rate. My last TV was only 720 and the refresh rate wasn’t even listed. After doing a lot of research, I soon figured out that the main characteristic that differentiated a good LCD HDTV from a so-so one was the contrast ratio! For instance, you will see several different models offered from

best tv for the bang for the buck, not bad for 1499. best deal on the market.
samsung should do something about the sound. probably a conspiracy between the tv manufacturers and the retail stores in order to sell home theater. otherwise, great tv, easy to use. remote not as bad as others make it out to be

I researched 46" LCD wide-screens HDTVs thoroughly before this purchase and read all the reviews and comparisons. The Samsung LN46A650, 1080p, 120Hz was everything they claimed it to be, and I am completely satisfied. Better picture than Sony and less expensive.

Upgraded from a 40 inch 720 Samsung to this 46 1080. For those that say theres not much difference its not true. The picture is really insane on the HD channels. Sound quality is average but i havent hooked up the surround yet as best buy allows a return for 30 days and I am on the fence if i should go up to the larger 52 inch. The blacks which seemed to have been a big drawback on the lcd's are not an issue with this set. The picture is adjustable in every way and looks incredible. I wish the remote was programable at least for the cable box but it has pretty direct access to the settings you want to change the most so thats an ok tradeoff as you dont need to use the manual to get figure out how to use the remote to change the settings. While there are many cheaper sets in this size the picture quality on this one is worth the few hundred extra. I had my other samsung HD 40 inch for close to 4 years and never had an issue with it and got almost $400 for it within an hour of placing it

I decided to buy Samsung LN46A650 LCD TV based on the reviews I have seen on Amazon and so far I am a happy customer, the product came in very good packaging and delivered before schedule, as I do most of my purchases from Amazon, will continue to do so in future too...good job Amazon.

Same old story here, I did a lot of obsessive research, combed the internet for months, tracking prices, wandering in to Best Buy and talking to their staff. Last week, BestBuy finally brought their pricing in line with the lowest on-line retailers. I was considering the closeout pricing on the LN46A550 @ $1,199, but the 650 model was also on sale for $1,499. I couldn't keep my mind off the 120 refresh rate and 50,000 to 1 contrast ratio. In the store, I could tell the difference, and I refused to compromise with the 550. Personally, I love the red ToC on the frame. I was using a 32 Sony XBR tube TV from 1999 and I was just ready to upgrade. I was cautiously excited today when I hooked it up, but tonight we watched the NCAA Tournament and it is UNBELIEVABLE. It is just wild to see TV like this. Like all the other reviews, I would highly recommend this TV. I have no issue with the sound unlike some other reviews. I'm good for another 10 years now.

I just got this today and it is awesome. The picture is clear and sharp off some $9 rabbit ears from the discount store. I do not have HD service from Direct TV at this moment but I am certain it will be awesome also. The picture I get from Direct TV right now is better than with my old 32" Toshiba CRT TV. I have a standard definition DVD hooked up to it and connected with S video cable. I set the DVD to 16:9 for the TV and set the output to normal. Depending on the DVD that you are watching it makes a huge difference. Always look at the format on the back of the package of the DVD.
Last thing, this is last year's model and was on sale for $1,499. I love it.
This year's model LN46B650 has a couple of things that do not matter to me and it is a lot more money.

Iv had this t.v. for four months now and let me tell you its AMAZING! My parents have two Sony's. One LCD and one PLASMA both are 1080P and this t.v. blows them out of the water.
It has the clearest picture iv ever seen. BLU-RAYS look so life like it's not even funny. HD t.v. looks great and so do video games as well. The 120 frames a second really shows in sporting events and action sequence's, it makes everything look so smooth.
The features are really nice as well. The INFO-LINK is so cool you can get the weather the news and even check stocks right on the t.v. All and all i couldn't have been happier with this t.v.
When people come over they will not believe how real the people on the t.v shows look and BLU-RAY movies look (HD t.v. that is). It really will blow your mind. Buy this t.v. you will not regret it AT ALL!

I just got this set and I am very impressed with the whole unit. It has great color and I don't have my Fios hooked up yet so it ought to be even better once that gets installed...Considered another brand but always had good luck with Samsung...its up there with Sony so you can't go wrong.....

I upgraded from a 40" Samsung LCD thinking that the difference would be incremental at best. Well let me tell you that I could not have been more wrong! The quality on this panel is the best I have ever seen. The 120Mhz technology adds new life to HD movies, sports, and even news broadcasts! I personally love the "soap opera effect" that people sometimes complain about. It makes me feel like I am watching a play instead of something that was filmed years ago!
This LCD TV runs by Dish DVR, PS3, Xbox360, Wii, as well as my PC with excellent results. The four HDMI ports are essential for that true HD experience. Plus, it is also great to get rid of those bulky component video cables for all my sources! :)
The sound is as good as can be expected from TV speakers. I use the Logitech Z-5500 for my surround needs, but I can say thay the TV speakers do create an immersive effect.

I returned my LN46550 in favor of this model, the LN46650. Why? Simple- motion blur. If you like sports or watch anything with fast motion on a regular basis...do yourself a favor spend a little more and go with this model(it is 120htz insetad of 60htz refresh rate-plasmas don't have this issue if you're replacing a plasma with an LCD)It's good looking too! Glossier screen than the 550 means turn down the lights and draw the blinds...otherwise no complaints...awesome. Won't rate sound other than say I've got an STR DG-820 Sony receiver home theater, so I don't use the TV's speakers...i can assure you they are woefully inadequate...

I have had this TV for about 5 months. I had to check and make sure all detail features before I write any reviews. I am very happy to have one of the best LCD TVs Only $1649.00. Picture quality is amaizing, sound quality also very nice. I Waited a while for a great TV. Finally I got it.

I have to admit when I bought this TV i was a little skeptical because I did not know much about contrast ratios. After the purchase of the TV I was so stunned with the image quality and picture I quickly sold my Samsung 50" plasma to buy a second one of these TV's within only 2 days. Over yes, I was so facinated and impressed that I purchased 2 of them. I am looking forward to saving up for a third.

Overall, I really like my choice of this set. I selected it after doing weeks of research, I purchased it just before Christmas 2008 for around $1699.00. Even with the annoyances listed below I would change the selection I have made.
However the annoyances are:
1) Front panel buttons are not distinguishable except to hold a flashlight right up to the panel for examination.
2) When changing channels by pressing the up or down buttons on the remote, the channels sometimes skip over sections or go back to repeat channels that were just sequences though.
I downloaded the latest firmware change from Samsung's support website and then the tv was presented with it on a USB, it stated that it was the same firmware. No present firmware was shown so I assume it was the same as what I downloaded. The date shown in a version.txt file was "2008-09-05".
Note:
I am using this set on cable to view analog, digital and clear qam channels.

I just picked up this television from the Erie PA store on Friday February 27th. I'm very happy that I waited a month to get the television as it was back ordered. After setting everything up the television, it looks even better at home that it did in the store. The blacks are dark and crisp. The initial setup is very simple. Everything is very intuitive. The remote responds better than some reviews of this television say. I also recommend if you have a router within reach of the television and can hook up an ethernet from the router to the television, it's worth it. It's a great feature to be able to watch television and read the USA Today while watching television by using the infolink system.
The detail on the picture is spectacular. I'm a huge hockey fan and hockey looks wonderful on the television. It looks like you are sitting in the arena of the game you are watching. My old 1080i rear projection HDTV didn't look nearly as good for watching hockey in HD.

We bought this tv and moved our 3 year old 42" Hitachi plasma into another room. I never thought HDTV or bluray could look better than it already did. We were absolutely floored when we first watched an HDTV show on it. I read people say that it looks like looking through a 3D window..... Exactly, wife and I had to check and make sure we didn't swallow any "happy pills."
Be sure to check around on the net for current prices though. HHGregg was more than happy to match an online price so best buy was also glad to match that price.

This Samsung replaced a TV that was 14 years old and not knowing anything about the newer HD TVs, I asked all kinds of Questions and to not only the store but to other people that had HD sets.
I chose this Samsung and I am NOT one bit sorry, I am VERY happy with this TV

I bought this tv in May 2008 for $2300 and before I had done so, I researched flat panels for nearly 3 months. I called tech support of samsung, panasonic, sony, and sharp to get all the details ironed out... (dynamic vs. static contrast ratios, mS response time vs. Hz refresh rate, tuner capabilities and all those things most don't understand). I'm pretty sure I also made 8-10 trips to various Best Buy stores to find and talk to the most competent person in the home theatre dept. After all this, an lcd tv seemed to be the most durble and have the most longevity.
The reason I chose the Samsung LN46A650 is due to its picture, functionality, and it looks pretty sweet too! Simply just looking at this tv next to another is a reason to consider it. I had plain-jane standard cable (no box, no antenna) and when I hooked up the tv, it prompted me to auto-program channels, I came out with the standard 60 chs, plus nearly 40 digital music channels and 10 HD channels... This set was on sale in January for $1499 and my wife and I couldn't pass it up. We replaced an old rear-projection tv (RPTV) with this model and were blown away by the picture quality. Setup literally took me 10 minutes. Still trying to get used to the 120hz refresh rate. Can make some programs seem a little strange with the motion, but I'm still tinkering. It does tend to collect a lot of dust, so you just have to keep up on keeping it clean. Love this tv and highly recommend it!

We've had this TV for over 2 months and couldn't be happier! We were torn between the Samsung and Sony and are very happy with our purchase. We saved hundreds for the same technology; the clarity and sharpness is amazing. We usually watch HD channels, but non HD is very good too. This TV offers the best bang for the buck and I know we will be happy for many years to come. Tip: Keep an eye on the price after your purchase. Best Buy issued us a credit on two occassions when the price dipped - no questions asked!

I purchased this television five months ago and I love it. The 120 Hz feature is amazing. I've shown friends and family this amazing clarity during action scenes with my demo choice of "Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift" numerous times. The remote and programming are easy to navigate and customize. I never thought I would own such a huge TV and now wonder how I ever did without. I highly recommend Samsung and this excellent television.

My wife and I have been looking for a new TV that we could put in our den / computer room for the past few months. We picked the Samsang and had the TV mounted on the wall with a tilting bracket. We also purchased two Yamaha interior wall mounted 120 watt speakers and a Yamaha AV Receiver RX -V463 model. We also bought a Samsung Blue Ray player. We had the equipment installed by Best Buy. None of the cables are showing because the Best Buy installers ran everything behind the wall and they also hooked up our Satellite for us.
We are thrilled with everythng. We looked at the Sony TV model which was comparable to the Samsung. They both had 50:000 - 1 contrast ratio, 1080p, 120 Mhz refresher, 46", and 4HDMI. The Samsung has a noticeblle sharper picture and better black and white color distinction. The Sony has better primary colors (Red, Yellow, and Blues). So to pick the best TV is really a viewing preference. Over all, we think the Samsung has a better TV when you total everything.

I have been mulling over whether to get an LCD or a plasma screen, and in the end no matter how many people you talk to or how much research you do, there is no correct answer. I choose an LCD TV since it meet my needs (eg gaming, movies, PC connectivity, etc without the fear of burn in). In the end, I am very happy with this purchase. The picture quality is crystal clear, and the sound quality is quite good as well. The 650 series also recieved some top notch reviews from consumer research, CNET, as well as sound and vision, so it's not just a run of the mill LCD TV. It's a little bit more on the expensive side, but believe me it is worth it, regardless of what my wife says :)

This TV is amazing. My boyfriend and I have it and we love it. We have owned it since Oct 08. The picture is amazing, the colors are clear and vivid, low glare. Actually, I am spoiled by it. I can't watch a regular TV anymore. Sports on it are awesome, can't wait to see the Sox! Upgrade your cable package to HD and you are golden.

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS STUNNING. The picture is so clear you might not want this TV. Once you watch something on this HDTV and then watch a regular TV you’ll say to yourself, this is a waste of time. The picture couldn’t get any clearer or sharper. Sure Sony has a great picture, but at a maximum price. And with the “Touch Of Color” frame that it has, it looks classy, not some plain black frame. If you do get it, get a HMDI cable to connect for the best possible picture. It will blow you away. At first I had the regular cable signal from the Comcast box and the picture didn't really look HD , but with the HDMI cable the picture is GREAT!!!! I COULDN’T BE HAPPIER WITH THE SELECTION.
Oh and if you get a Samsung Blue-ray player with “Anynet” connection, the TV will switch over to the player input automatically when turned on, and also when you turn off the player it will change back to your cable input automatically, really convenient no more manual

I just had this set delivered from BB on Friday. The delivery guys unpacked it and set it up on top of my entertainment center. They arrived on time and were polite.
The set itself looks gorgeous. HD cable looks as good as it can. Blu-rays via a PS3 look absolutely amazing. Gaming on this set is very good, just make sure you research the options to avoid/eliminate input lag if you encounter it (avs forums are great option). There are lots of options for adjusting the picture settings, but out of the box I liked very much what I saw and haven't changed them-Though I do plan on getting professional calibration in a month or so. Plenty of connection options. I think this set is probably my favorite entertainment purchase I've ever made and I've made plenty.
The Toc bezel is a nonissue. The "reflective screen" some people mention is also not something you notice unless you look for it, and my room has a lot of light in it. The remote is also a nonissue. It's a remote. It's

I did my research on this t.v. and went to several other competitors and this LCD was by far the best for its picture and quality. No one can beat Best Buys price or quality. I would recommend this t.v. to anyone.

I originally purchased the samsung 550 series model, but after having it for a week or so I noticed a thin black line going across the bottom of the screen. I took the tv back and decided to pay a few more bucks and upgrade to the 650 series, $400 dollar difference but well worth it. The 120hz plus auto motion is incredible. Its a whole different experience watching movies and sports when this mode is turned on and you can adjust the auto motion from low to high which is nice. The touch of color is nice also. Its not very noticeable unless the room is pretty bright. I'm not really sure why people complain so much about the sound. The sound is fairly good considering how thin the tv is. I just wish my cable company had 1080p instead of 1080i, from what i've read 1080p is better. If you are looking for a great tv and don't want to spend a ton of money, this tv is perfect

"After a month of research I decided to go with the LN46A650 and I couldn't be happier. I've had this tv for about 2 weeks now and I have absolutely no complaints, in my opinion there isn't a television out there that can beat this one in picture quality and price. I highly recommend that you get a sound system to connect to your tv, w/o it the sound is just average. The picture with the AutoMotion Plus is so real looking on this tv, it might take a lil bit to get use to but well worth it. Xbox 360 with HDMI and Blu-Rays are amazing with this tv. Almost real like picture, and i couldn't ever watch regular tv again. Getting pumped about watching the Superbowl on this thing. Samsung couldn't have done a better job with this tv, all around excellent."

Believe me when I say I researched this purchase, my wife has been saying for 2 years that we need a nice big flat panel, but I waited and waited to find just the right unit. I was sold on the Sony DLP's for a long time and had almost made up my mind to go that route when I expanded my options to include LCD panels.
I am very glad I started researching LCD's for home use. I was once again thinking about the Sony's and very much liked the Bravia engine, but when I read review after review on this and other Samsung LCD's I decided to take a closer look.
Here is what made my decision to go with the Samsung easy to make. The same warranty, better side-by-side image comparison with comparable Sony and 120Hz refresh all for a great price of $1549, to get the comparable Sony would have set me back an additional $300 at the time.
Setup of this LCD was a snap. I have digital cable and a home theater AVR system so I used HDMI and of course run all audio through the AVR.

First, the picture is great. The anti-judder technology creates a superior picture that makes HD look even more HD. It has made watching movies, college football, and my X-Box 360 even more enjoyable. At first, I was worried that the red ToC would be distracting, but it is really hard to notice. I was also worried that the more reflective screen would be distracting, but this again is really hard to notice even when there is a lot of light in my living room while I am playing a video game with darker screen contents. I have never had a problem with random shut downs as some others have written about. Also, the remote's wheel is a little easy to over-steer, but you can always just click up-down, left-right to avoid that.
Overall, I wished I had bought this TV sooner. It is great for movies, TV, and video games. You will not be disappointed.

This television is amazing. It was not too heavy but it was awkward enough to need 2 people to move it and carry it. The picture is great and crystal clear when watching Blu-Ray and HD programming. If you dont have HD programming on your cable or satellite, the picture is blurry almost like watching a 3-D movie without the glasses. It gave me headaches. But once I got HD installed on my satellite, everything even non HD channels were clearer. I dont have any problems with the sound. It is pretty loud. Around 15 - 20 is perfect in the room I have it in. It goes up to 100. I love this TV. Its great!!!

Bought the LN46A650 two weeks ago and are thoroughly satisfied. The Samsung website has all information for obtaining service should you ever need it. When I registered the TV they emailed me an acknowledgement and extended the TV's warranty for 3 months just for registering.
Was not aware the TV had several sound adjustments (Sound equalizer). Don't remember seeing this in my research. I read reveiws and made several trips to stores to view many brands before purchasing. The more I read and compared the better Samsung looked. When I found it was $650.00 off while checking BB on line I called the store even though it said on line they were out of stock. I've had this television for one month now and overall I am very pleased. The picture is just amazing, very bright with vivid colors. Watching a dvd (especially a Blue-Ray dvd) is a thrilling experience. Likewise, channels that are broadcast in high definition, also look phenomenal (FoodTv, Discover, Science and History Channel are standouts). I have found that channels that are not broadcasd in HD look very bad and I've had problems with setting ratio aspects on some channels but I realize that this is not an issue with the tv itself. The setup and menus are very easy to follow. Like some other reviewers have mentioned, the sound is not that great so I purchased a sound system to go with it and actually turned the sound off the tv because it interferred with the sound system speakers. Now, I just need a good international remote (I'm now using 4!).
The delivery service was fine. I received the set exactly one week after I ordered it. I received a call one day prior to delivery telling

I recently returned a vizio 120hz 1080p for bad quality picture (blurring, picture would sut out and volume would go up) it was horrible but I returned it without issues to costco
Then I bought a toshiba 1080P without the 120hz thinking it may not be a big difference. picture was good on hte toshiba but it looked grainy and did not look as good as the vizio's fast action for movies and ps3 and xbox 360 games.
I finally decided to fork out the cash I should have in the 1st place and go with a top of the line samsung or sony. Sony was way too much and I didn't like the cons in others reviews. samsung;s only con;s in reviews said people dont like reflections (which is not an issue for me)
Pros:
-Price (went back to bestbuy to receive new lowest price of only 1449)
-Picture quality (best contrast and brights and sharpness I have ever seen It's like you are really there)
-Features - allow me to change settings or use default settings that work great

When it comes to LCDs there are better TVs, but Samsung pretty much gives you the best bang for your buck and a certainly a better image than cheaper sets. To get a significantly better picture, you're going to be looking at a Pioneer set which costs thousands more.
One thing I quite like about Samsungs is that they have decent presets called E-modes (entertainment modes). E-modes include sports, cinema, TV, and gaming. They do a decent job of adjusting the TV settings automatically for your intended usage.
Something to consider: this TV has a glossy screen. Glossy is a great way to enhance contrast, but also makes the screen more reflective. If you're in a room with lots of sunlight, you might consider a 550 series TV, which is not glossy. Otherwise, it's not likely to be a problem.
This is a fast TV and great for gaming and sports. Movies look gorgeous in full HD. Sound is just OK, but really if you're setting up a home theater, you're probably going to have

I am a huge HD fan! I bought a 32 inch samsung for my bedroom, not knowing i'd be moving out soon. So when i did move out, and mounted my 32 inch on the wall in the living room, I laughed! I immediately started my research for a bigger and better t.v. I could easily write a review that is at least five pages long explaining my intensive research on t.v.'s that I have looked at and read reviews, and the whole nine yards. And I mean the WHOLE nine yards! So long story short, I settled on this one. When you read over 500 reviews, (yes, I read at least that many) and the only negative reviews you can find on this t.v. was when it first came out, and had a firmware problem that caused the t.v. to shut off, (which obviously can be fixed and was fixed by samsung) then you know you must have come across a pretty nice set. I went to my local best buy and purchased this t.v. I got home and mounted this t.v. on the wall praying that this t.v. was for me. Oh yeah! Did I forget to mention, when I went

I bought this TV so I could move my 46" Sony S class TV to the family room. My main criteria were 1080p and 120hz. This TV had both but more importantly, it had nearly universal positive reviews. I find it helpful to read the negative reviews and this specific model has almost none. In fact, the only negative reviews focused on what appear to be initial production issues. The most recent negative review was written in March of 08.
I compared this to the Sony XBR6 since they were on display side by side in a local Best Buy. Both my wife and I preferred the Samsung picture and we're both Sony snobs.
I've had the TV for four weeks now and it is just fabulous. In an attempt to provide some negatives, I'll offer the following:
- Speaker positioning (TV back) somewhat diminishes the sound
- TV controls are almost impossible to locate unless in the brightest light
- Out of the box, the TV makes an annoying chime sound
- Not overly quick to change resolutions

I've read reviews and talked to several knowledgable people (geeks are good folks after all). I my view, this set won hands down. I will be renting Blue-ray and standard DVDs via the mail so I don't need premium movie channels. I have ordered a HD satellite service upgrade and I will not be using all of the set's capability. It doesn't matter as the set is perfect for our needs. Now my wife wants to replace the old 32" CRT set with the LN32A450 model in the sun room! Perfect! She can watch her stuff in there and leave me with the big tv watching the important things like sports and blood and guts movies.

This thing is absolutely amazing...I had a 42 inch Sony projection tv...bought it from Best Buy in '01. It was still working great but we decided to upgrade. For months I researched various TVs and just kept coming back to this one in particular as my favorite even though some others were '"less expensive". As soon as I got it home, I all ready noticed a huge, huge diference just on the picture from the satlite receiver and I don' t have HD (yet). However, I did couple it with a Sony upconverting DVD player and I was blown away!!!!!! The movie Transfomers looked ok before but I could not get over the fact it looked like I was right there. Best picture on a TV I have ever seen. 1699 was a steal!!!!

Tough to get these sets. Seems that they sell out within a day or two of arrival at the Best Buy stores in southern california. Just got mine 4 days ago. Had it up & running within the hour. Watched high def channels and the week-end NFL play off games and was absolutely astouned by the quality of the picture. Had read reviews about the audio being sub-par, but my set got plenty loud and the surround set was good stereo. Of course, to watch a blu-ray DVD, you would want to add a home theatre system.
Hooked up my computer and internet and all went well. Nice little program that gives you headlines, weather, and stocks that you can watch while watching tv programs. I have worked in broadcasting and owned many tv sets, but I was shocked by the incredible picture this set puts out. Purposely passed on the 46" 750 model because of the bed press about reflections around the edge of the screen. Saw that at a friends house - it was true. So opted for the 650 & have no regrets. When I first started looking at HDTV's, it was very confusing...720p, 1080i, 1080p, 60 Hz, 120Hz, etc...and in the store, the picture on ALL the sets looked almost identical...how does one choose?
So I started doing my homework, checking reviews on web sites such as Cnet.com and (above all) reading reviews (like this one) written by actual Consumers.
After extensive research I decided on this Samsung LN46A650, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The color and picture clarity is superb. There is absolutely no "picture blur" when watching football or basketball games. The Sound is better than on other TV's I've owned.
There are more "customizable" picture, sound, etc. settings than you can imagine, but, other than setting the clock, I haven't had to change a thing....tint, color, etc. was great right out of the box.
I found a door-buster price at a competing retailer, and Best Buy price-matched it, so I feel I got a really good deal on one of the top-rated HDTV's out

After looking at all the tv's in several stores we settled on this tv. It has all the same features as the more expensive series 8 samsung. It is just not as thin. With the furnature we have it on, the thickness of the tv body did not matter. The sound is great and the picture is the best. The viewing angle is great from everywhere in the room. Over the holidays we watched football and this tv made it better than being in the stadium.
I see some people have marked down on the PIP and other things but I dont understand what their probmem is. The pip works great and I know of none that work this well. You always have to have another tuner to do PIP and since this tv has both digital and analog, it uses the analog for PIP. The sound is great but as with most tvs, have at least a cheap home theater to run the sound through to make it seem like you are at the game!

This television has changed the way that I will look at TV's for the rest of my life. If you want the top of the line picture, you should buy the LN46A950 for about $4,000. If you want the second best picture on the market, you should buy this tv for just over $1,500. If money is not an issue, you might be able to find a better television. There isn't a better tv on the market right now for the money. This will not change until the 2009 models come out with a newer techonology than LED backlighting and 120hz. I have had this tv for about 6 months now. I have had no problems whatsoever. The only issue that seems to be universal with this tv is the sound. The speakers are not very good for this tv. I would imagine, though, that most people willing to spend upwards of $2,000 for this tv are planning on buying surround sound for it as I did. It has a PC input if you want to surf the web on a huge screen. It has 4 HDMI hookups which I still cannot use all of. I have a PS3, XBOX 360, and HD DVR

This is a fabulous TV. To those of you that mentioned that the picture is so clear, it looks like you're watching the movie being made, that's because you have the 120Hz Auto Motion on. This should only be turned on when watching sports. If it's on while watching a movie or TV series, it looks more like a video shot "behind the scenes" or like a soap opera. Definitely NOT how the producers had intended the show to appear.
It would be helpful if there was a one-button on/off switch for the auto motion (120Hz) instead of about 6-7 key strokes but I'll live with it.
The only complaint I have is with the PIP. Why do they bother putting it in? It only works with analog TV broadcasts and you can't swap the main picture with the sub-picture. It could at least let you tune to two different analog broadcasts and then swap. Totally worthless.

I'm a Sony Playstation 3 user. I use this TV to play my PS3 games and my Blu-Ray movies of course. I put on Kung-Fu Panda and was just flat-out astounded because of the picture quality. It really felt like I was in the same room with the Panda on the TV! Now here's the thing though -- I put on Eagle Eye (Blu-Ray), Troy (Blu-Ray), and The Dark Knight (standard dvd) and was just blown away with the picture quality. HOWEVER, the thing that SOME MAY FIND REALLY STRANGE is that when you're watching the movie with this tv, it literally feels like you're watching the movie LIVE -- as if you're watching as the movie is actually being recorded. With that said, it may not feel like an actual movie -- just depends on how you look at it really. I'm not sure if it's the 1080p resolution, the hdtv setting, or what, but using my PS3 on other hdtvs, the picture couldn't get any clearer (at least with this price point). Gaming -- no problem so far. The thing that I love about this tv is the contrast ratio

Samsung cant be beat this year--neither can Amazon. After a month of research on flat screens Samsung is on top. Ordering on Amazon was better than ordering from a neighborhood store because it is delivered INTO the home, put in place, and operation tested. Not only did Amazon have the best price to begin with, shipping was free without tax. FIVE STARS to both

My first LCD flat screen and I could not be happier. I have always enjoyed watching TV, but this television takes it to a new high. I chose the 650 over the 700 and 800 series due to the picture being equal quality. Watching football games gives you the feeling of being down on the field. The picture is unbelieveable. As far as sound goes, if you have purchased an LCD flat screen, you need a surround system to go with it. It provides that theatre feeling in your own residence. The employees at Best Buy were a tremendous help and not overbearing. I enjoyed talking to them about the pros and cons of different systems. Watching television has never been better.

I had been wanting a big screen LCD for a while, I have researched different brands and sizes. I was trying to find a LCD in this price range that had better reviews than the Samsung, I didnt find anything. These reviews saying that the picture looks better than real life, and how it feels like you are actually on set filming the movie are all true. My HD cable box running Component video even looks great. With the Blue Ray and all HDMI hook ups, the picture in 1080p 25hz movie mode looks silly good. If you are trying to decide between this model and the A630, dont save the $200, go ahead and fork it over for this model, you won't be sorry!! I really think this TV and model are on the edge of the best quality with out going over into the super spendy models. (The picture isnt going to get better unless you spend much more money)

I purchased the Samsung 46" 650 about a month ago, the picture on this tv is amazing, the quality rivals that of more expensive sets that i have looked at. while the picture is amazing, the sound is good as well, but could be improved, the addition of a small sub to the unit would be a nice addition.
Playing PS# and watching Blu Ray Movies is just breath taking and makes these activites much more enjoyably.
now the Cons:
Switching between Input sources takes a few seconds, while this isnt a problem just a minor annoyance when you wanna watch tv NOW! lol
The remote leaves alot to be desired. the ipod style click wheel is a great idea, if it worked better, it makes navigating menus a bit tricky at times.
All in all this set gets 5 stars, the value is unbeatable, the picture is AMAZING and i couldnt be happier. you will not be disapointed in this TV, its a Great Buy!

This LCD tv is the best I have ever seen. My son owns a Sony and even he admits this tv's picture is clearer and the color more vivid. If you want the best tv in the under 1800.00 price range, look no further. This one will knock your socks off. I bought it for my hubby for xmas and he said football has never been more fun to watch. Consumer Reports rates this tv best in its size and price range....now I know why.

This TV is definately worth the price if this is your market range, by that I mean if you can jump up to this level it will be worth it and you will not be disappointed. Pair it with a blu-ray player and its really gets good. Not so crazy about the red frame, it takes some getting used to but the picture makes me forget very quickly. Another note, the TV seems to look and appear "larger" then its size.

I just got this TV for xmas, I don't have the HDMI cable yet nor do I have HD service through my cable provider. I will have both on Monday though. As of right now, playing games, I notice the game playing gets blurry (lag feeling) at fast movements especially on COD4, but I just played Pure and it looks good and that is a really fast game. I have digital cable right now and my HBO channels look awesome, so I know it's capable of some fantastic viewing. I don't notice much difference on my basci channels between my 37' Tube TV though. So I'm hoping with the HDMI connection and HD service that I will notice a big difference and make my wife happy, Right now, she isn't $2000 impressed with it. I gave it high ratings above though because I'm hoping for the best. I'm still getting the settings setup for gaming and the 120Mhz figured out.

I'm a gamer and have been looking to upgrade my 32" Samsung for a few years. I bought this tv a few days ago and have been completely satisfied. I play a lot of NHL09 and I can honestly say that this tv allows for smoother, more precise gameplay. The resolution and brightness of this set is the best that I have ever seen. Our LN46A650 was delivered this morning. I had been given a three-day window for delivery, and I picked the 10 AM - 3 PM window today. The delivery service was on time, the box was well-handled (I watched the whole process), and the white glove service was as advertised. The TV was unboxed, set up, examined, connected, and turned on. The remote was checked for function. The delivery person even put the packing box in our garage.
The TV itself is in no way exaggerated in these reviews. It looks great, even though our HD isn't being installed until tomorrow. The closest I've been able to come is to hook up our Wii and DVD player using the component video connections. The picture is nothing short of amazing. Audio will have to wait, because the Toslink fiber audio cables aren't here yet, so I have to settle for the regular RCA L & R audio hookup. I have Bitstream audio from the DVD player, but that has to be channeled through our receiver, which I'm not going to set up until the HD DVR is

I test multiple flat panels prior to purchasing the Samsung LN46A650.
I found the picture quality to be the best 1080 P for the money. I
tested the following, Panasonic TH-42PZ85U, Sharp LC46D65U
and the Sony KDL-46W4100 in my home, using a Blu-Ray with
the same DVD. Colors seemed to be more vibrant with the Samsung,
whiter whites and deeper darks. This TV is a great deal for $1600

Hands down THE best picture quality for the money! I chose this set over the Sony Bravia with 120Hz and the Sony XBR4 series. The picture quality is simply amazing...with the 120Hz turned on it really is like watch HDTV through a window it can actually be a bit distracting at times. I really like the red "Touch of Color" but I could be biased as it nicely matches our mahagoney colored bedroom furniture:)
The picture of this TV far outweigh the few cons I have mentioned. The sound from the bottom firing speakers is definitely lacking...sounds thin and hollow. Older Sammies had a lip to deflect the sound forward and I think that would help, but I just hooked up a set of my own stereo speakers. The wheel on the remote isn't terrible, but it's kind of clumsy and awkward in the menu system...easier just to use the directional clicks of the wheel. The only real annonyance I have is the set's speed at changing resolutions. When changing our HD cable box from a channel in 720p to 1080i

To give some perspective, this is my first big screen TV and my first LCD TV.
I knew LCD's pixels don't switch (refresh) as fast during camera movement and get the "shakes," but the effect is worse than I imagined, even with the 120Hz setting set to "high." I watched the Bourne #2 and #3 movies and it was very noticeable because of the filming style (tight shots with lots of camera movement.) I'm sure sports will be much the same. If this really bothers you, than I would suggest a plasma or DLP. I got LCD because the technology is more mature and I expect the TV to have more longevity. I haven't bought a TV in 20 years and hope to have this for the next 20. We'll see.
The looks of this TV are really nice, at the expense of speaker placement and switch visibility. The sound is okay at best, although I have it turned off completely and use an A/V receiver. The control switches on the TV are nearly impossible to see, but the inductive touch switches are pretty cool. Neither

This is my second LCD. Both samsung. The picture quality is by far the best I have ever seen. I was one of those guys Sony or Samsung. Both very well built LCD's. What made me take the Samsung home was PRICE , AND CONTRAST RATIO. The most surprising thing is when i took it out of the box and descovered how light it was. Easily a one man job. All your friends will begg to come over and watch the game or a movie or anything thats on TV. LOL. So quit reading and join the club. You will smile ALL THE WAY HOME. :)

I spent several weeks going to Best Buy during my lunch hour trying to make the right decision. I started looking at the entry level 60hz TVs, but after a few visits, I quickly learned that 120hz is the only way to go. I originally wanted to only spend around a $1000, but I definitely have no regrets in spending a little more.
I probably made at least a dozen visits before making a purchase, and each time, the Samsung A650 had the best overall picture by far. With 1080p and 120hz Auto Motion Plus, this TV clearly separates itself from anything else in its price range. Even the sound, which every flat panel TV struggles with, is very good. The speakers are on the bottom and are adequate. Of course, adding a surround sound configuration of any type will definetly add to the overall experience.
Go ahead and grab the Blu ray player at the same time. I guarantee that you will not want to watch a regular DVD again.
Also, five stars to the staff at Best Buy for helping

Bentley or Maybach? U make the choice. For an entire year i had gone back and forth between the Sony and Samsung. I finally settled on the Samsung 550 and took it home. Then i saw that the 120hz 650 was on sale for a few hundred more and all i can say is WOOWW!!! This is absolutely the best picture i have seen. Especially for the price. Trust me it is well worth it. The picture is soo clear, it truly looks like you are watching real life(with hi-def reciever of course). I watched an old movie on cable(The Godfather III) on cable and i swear i felt like i was at that opera with the Corleones! And the sports???? Unreal! You will feel like you sitting courtside-nuff said. If u are a sports fan, this is a must have. Trust me , u will love this tv.

Gotta start with the picture...stunning, amazing, fantastic, unbelievable. I bought the TV last night along with a PS3 and Dark Knight on Blueray. I was blown away. My girlfriend actually had to leave the room because the Joker so real that it was freaking her out. You really feel like you are in the movie. Even when the TV is turned off it looks incredible. This set is worth every penny and with it being on sale right now for $500 off, you would be crazy not to to pick one up. So stop reading this and go buy it!

Outstanding HD TV. After debating over this, a plasma, and a Panasonic (LCD and Plasma) I went with this and have not been disappointed AT ALL. Well worth the extra money to upgrade from the 4 or 5 series to the 6 series

I originally bought the LN46A500 model and was very disappointed with it, so I returned it and based off of the great reviews given to this T.V., I purchased the LN46A650 model instead.
I can not begin to describe how much better this T.V. is than the LN46A500 model. The difference is like night and day. I couldn't believe how much better the picture on this T.V. looked. I guess the 30,000 more in contrast ratio really helped. The auto-motion plus 120hz technology really does make a difference also. It looks like everything you watch in HD is live and happening right in front of you.
The picture on this T.V. is unbelievable. It's hard to believe that there are T.V.'s that are more expensive and supposedly look better than this one. The colors are very bright and crisp and jump right out of the screen at you. It feels like your watching everything happen like it's live right in your living room. If you're big into sports and action flics, the auto motion plus 120hz technology

WE HAD A 37IN TOSHIBA (37AV50U) GOOD TV BUT THIS SAMSUNG BLOWS IT AWAY!!!!!!!!!! HD IS STUNNING WE CAN'T GET OVER HOW AWESOME THE PICTURE IS.SD IS ALSO VERY GOOD MUCH BETTER THAN MOST. THE FACTORY SETTINGS DEFINITLY NEEDED SOME TWEEKING THE COLOR ON OURS WAS VERY GREEN. MY HUSBAND WENT INTO THE DETAILED SETTINGS AND FIXED EVERYTHING AND THEN THE PICTURE WAS AWESOME. MAKE SURE TO TURN THE SURROUND SOUND ON ONCE YOU DO THAT THE SPEAKERS SOUND MUCH BETTER. WE ALSO LIKE THAT IT HAS A SWIVEL STAND. HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST PURCHASE WE HAVE MADE. ALSO BEST BUY SAID IF THE PRICE DROPS FROM NOW UNTIL JAN 24TH THEY WILL CREDIT OUR ACCOUNT AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW WE BOUGHT IT FRIDAY AND THE PRICE DROPPED $100.00 ON SUNDAY I CALLED AND THEY SAID JUST TO BRING IN RECEIPT AND THEY WILL CREDIT OUR ACCOUNT.

First kudos to Best Buy as their knowledgable staff and customer service that is customer focused assited me in buying the right TV to meet my needs. The picture quality of this set is terrific. The HD programing display is fantastic, and I had some concerns about non HD which were quickly erased. Since I use a surround system I cannot properly evaluate the audio. The remote is full of usefull features and is very easy to use as was the set up and installation. So far I have nothing to complain about.

Great black levels. Impressive control of the picture via user settings. Sound is adequate. You have to spend quite a bit more to get better performance.

I have been looking into buying a new TV for a while. I have been living with a hand me down 27" TV from the early 90's and it finally died on me. After reading multiple reviews on many TV's I decided on this one and could not be happier. I am going out today to upgrade to the HD cable box but I feel I don't even need it. I can't get over how clear the picture is even without the HD box. I wanted to reach out and touch the people on TV. So far I am so happy with this TV. I just can't get over how easy it is to set up, just to plug in the HDMI cable from the cable box to the TV and "presto" the TV is hooked up.

It was easy to hook up and picture was great after some fine tunning. I do not use the speaker on the TV because I have surround sound system. The remote is big and sluggish reaction time, I changed the batteries but that did not help. Other then that it is a great TV.

I had another HD TV prior. Compared to this picture, I am soooo glad the 2.5 yr old 37 inch Vizio died. I love the fact it is 120Hz, Geek squad set it up for me and adjusted the speed and it feels like it is in 3D sometimes when there is a lot of movement. The picture is amazing! It is so real, then hooked up to the Blue-Ray I bought it blows me and my family away! It's like realer than real if that makes sense. The sound is good to me but I did hook it up to my 3-2-1 Bose. I did not have it in the budget but glad I took a leap of faith by reading other reviews on this TV. I would highly recommend to friends and family. The only downsize is now we are watching a lot more TV!

My wife and I recently purchased this model as an early Christmas present to ourselves. set up was less than 15 minutes. I did a lot of research and read hundreds of reviews, and knew thiis was the model I wanted. The picture is so good its almost scary.Color better than real life. I also got this tv at a steal,Best Buy price matched competitor. I have been a Best Buy customer for a few years, but now am sure to be one for life! I am now shopping for a sound system to go with it. You will not be dissapointed with this LCD or the service Best Buy offers. Enjoy!

The component jacks & the menus don't seem to match up, meaning if your DVD player is plugged into one set of jacks, the labels on the jacks don't seem to match the source selection menu.
The picture and sound are excellent and I have had no problems with this TV. This TV was my first foray into HDTV. I did quite a bit of research into features and quality of picture, and this won hands down.

I had been researching 40"+ LCD TV's for a few months and was narrowing my focus between this one and a Sony. The Samsung actually scored better in several reviews and it was cheaper than the Sony. I was going to wait until after Christmas, but then saw it online mid November for less than $1800 and decided to make my move. It's very easy to hook up, I definitely recommend HDMI cables, but don't overpay for them. Definitely do your research. I didn't realize that it had the wireless capability to connect to my home network, allowing the TV to be used as a monitor and stream video to it from my PC! How cool is that?!

This is the 2nd HDTV I have owned my first was an LG Plasma, this is my first big LCD TV and I got a steal on this TV when it was onsale for under 2000, at the time I bought it this TV was selling for 2399, I got it for 1899 on sale. The clarity is amazing on this TV in HD, Blu-ray is perfect and Xbox 360 is great as well. Standard picture is a bit grainy but still a great picture. I will for sure by another LCD from Samsung when I decide to upgrade. I totally recommend this TV to anyone who is looking to buy a high end 1080p LCD.

This was my first flat panel TV. I won't kid you... I EXPECTED A LOT from this TV. And frankly, it has blown my socks off. If this TV was HALF as good, then I think I'd still be satisfied. This picture & brightness is just amazing.
What's more (and here's the part that REALLY surprised me) it makes even non-HD broadcasts look better (even when displayed in full screen).
The controls on the front of the TV are very fancy and touch sensitive. The problem is... you can't see them to touch them.

Did some reasearch and the Samsung stood out for picture quality and the hookups were great. The HD Picture quality made the wife's jaw drop to the floor, she could not believe the difference. The 120 Hz was one of the features we were looking at and the Football games , what can I say TOTALLY AWESOME......I would highly recommend the Samsung to all my friends and family.

My first hdtv, but I've seen many and researched hard. Much more bang for the money than Sony Bravia & others. Easy to use controls help navigate screen use for sports, movies, gaming. Colors are vivid, blacks are true. Very easy to set-up. I do not use the speakers, but instead put on a Bose 3.2.1 on and it sounds great. Tv shows the dvd's, cd's and everything well on the tv.

This is my first HD tv, so of course it has the best picture of any tv I've owned. The colors are vivid, the picture is so sharp. What detail!
My only complaints are 1- The wheel on the remote is too sensitive
2- It takes too long to pick up a signal after
being powered up. ( Even if the cable box is
already on.
Other than that, I love it.

The LN46A650 is indeed a beauitul TV, with full HD capability, and amazon offered an unbeatable price. BestBuy, Costco, even Circuit city could not come close to the price Amazon offered. So for starters, you know that the price is a bargain and cant be beat. But what about the Tv itself and how does it compare to other brands and how does it compare to other models within Samsung?
Well, during my research, my price budget was actually around 1200, and I was looking towards getting a toshiba of the same size 46" that offered a gaming mode and it seemed to lure me in. But after comparing both TV's, toshiba just wasn't worth it. Yes of course samsung was more money, but you get what you paid for. And since this is an investment that you will enjoy over the years to come, you don't want to go cheap but you do want to have somewhat of a flexible budget. I spent 300-400 more in order to get the 46A650 which offered just simply much more. 50,000 contrast ratio, 120Hz, a beautiful viewing angle

If your looking to upgrade look no further I was a die hard plama user because picture quality after seeing the contrast ratio and the semi glossy screen i was sold. I get the best of both worlds picture quality of a Plasma and video gaming of an LCD watching movies in a whole different level with the 120hz. A must of for anyoning looking to upgrade.

This was my first HD TV purchase and I couldn't be more pleased. The picture quality is great, and I have yet to change my DirecTV box to HD. The XBOX and DVD players look great.
Surprised that the remote is not Universal with all of the other accessories out there. DirecTV remote picked up the TV right away though.

Films that are shown at 120hz look like video because our brains process images at the equivalent of about 60hz. Film has traditionally had that "dreamy" look because it was shot at 24 frames per second, which introduces motion blur, (many things in life move faster than what 24 frames per second can capture as a still image). I was just looking at this TV and other 120hz models at Best Buy. They were playing clips from "Pirates of the Caribbean and Speed. The picture was razor sharp, but it was TOO sharp. The movies did not look the way they looked in the theatre when they were projected on film at 24 frames per second. The lack of any motion blur was unnatural. In case you're interested, the reason why your computer screen will flicker and you will get headackes if your refresh rate is set below 60 hz is also because your brain processes images at the equivalent of 60hz. Wagon wheels appear to spin in the opposite direction when they are spinning around at the equivalent of 60hz because of this reason, also. As for the TV, I have to go with a 60hz set. I could never watch movies on a 60hz set.
