I got a Wii this past Christmas, and I love it.First off, the wiimotes. The wii comes with one, and I got another from buying Wii Play. They're wireless controllers that can sense where you're pointing, and how you move the controller. So when you play baseball, it know when you swing, and when you play bowling, it can tell if you put some spin on it. I really like that you can turn the Wii off via the power button on the wiimotes. Also, the wiimotes have little speakers for sound effects, and they rumble. For example, in bowling, it'll "ding" when it's your turn, or it'll make some noise if you mess up in Guitar Hero.
The wii is based around "channels". There's the Disc channel, internet channel, wii shop channel, news channel, weather channel, and some optional ones for free from wii shop. The internet, weather, and news run on wifi, which is very simple to set up (in options).
A really cool feature that the wii has is "Virtual Consoles". You can buy Virtual Consoles
