i had last year's version ($100+/-) and got it stolen. This is just under $80, pretty much the same model with fancier ear buds and a "noise canceling" switch. That feature is like the 'ole "Loud" button on older stereos, or "Overdrive" on your car (just keep it on and leave it). I don't even care that it's also a video player, I'll probably never waste the space on this device to download AVI videos or clips. I've got 920 songs on mine and that's good enough for me... for now i guess. I manage my playlists on Widows Media Player and haven't had any problems. Besides the few pointless extras, it's a fun, fairly priced little player. It's durable, but keep the Walkman screen protected, because it does scratch easily. thank you for the fast delivery!

The walk man holds most every thing I have as to songs. The tuner works great. Would buy the walk man over an ipod any day. The noise canceling ear buds work as advertised and are comfortable while working out or motor cycle riding.

Bought this unit for a friend. It was on sale and was much cheaper than the equivalent Ipod. Now that i have used it, I would pay the full price and more! It is so much better than the Ipod. Navigation is simpler. The sound is better. Screen is crisp. Battery life kills the ipod.
The only thing that it does not have is the touch dial, but the simpler navigation makes up for that. AND it has a radio!!!
I honestly cannot see how the ipod competes with this product... reading all the reviews, it seems like you have to try one to know what you are missing....
27 March 2009 - Note, This is 4 weeks after the original review. I have bought a unit for myself as well even though i have another mp3 player. This player is incredible. I have tested the Noise Cancelling mechanism on a train by simply playing the music so low that i could not hear it. The earbuds muffled some of the ambient noise but when i switched the noise cancelling system on, I was blown away. Apparently there

I've been using this player for a month and just love it so far. I've gotten numerous compliments on the player at work and it's always funny when I tell people it's a Walkman since most remember the old cassette tape players and didn't realize there was a mp3 player version. I work in a warehouse handling boxes so I also bought the armband to go with the player and couldn't be any happier thus far.
The Good:
Sound quality: As mentioned before I work in a warehouse that is also very loud and the sound quality is amazing. Even more impressive is that I only use 1 of the earphones since I need one ear free to hear fellow employees.
Features: I primarily use the "shuffle all" option of the mp3 player at work but it also comes with a time machine shuffle, a radio that you can preset your favorite radio stations, picture viewer, and video player. I bought this to work with Audible Audiobooks I planned to buy from Amazon and then discovered that it wouldn't work with your Audiobook supplier - Audible. I thought mp3 was mp3 and apparently that is not so....

this one is a keeper for me. everything is just great in this player. it's my first one and I found it very easy to use, even without reading the manual, file transfer is by drag and drop in windows media 11, very intuitive and super fast. the sound is superb, and you have various enhancing options, starting with an equalizer. functions and menu are easy and the upper right button offers contextualized options. the earphones come with 3 sets of earbuds, i found them very ligth and comfortable, beeing able to use them for three straight hours with no discomfort. and the noise cancelling feat works just great. highly recommendable. keep in mind, though, if you have a very large music colection, that 8 gb may not be enough for you.
