I am a brazilian writing in English about a Toshiba Satellite U305 13'3 laptop! I just got it from Amazon. My first "Amazon product". I did a long journay to chose this machine. The candidates were: Vaio, HP, Mac and Toshiba. I tooke the best cost-benefit relation. The laptop is very nice looking, inteligent project and VERY LIGHT. Even more than the others I was comparing with. Hardware is great! But I must say I am very afraid with its software. Going through Internet wireless is an advanture. I got some problem downloading a Microsoft programm and sudenly the machine got off. The only solution was to reconfigure it to the original version. But still I am not so sure I have the problem solved. I hope yes! It would be terrible having to send it back to the US! For you folks living in the States it is no matter at all. You get all the assistance. But for me down here in Brazil a machine like that should not at all have any kind of problem. I hope it will be so. Second point to coment: Amazon

I just bought this computer (for 750 at Office Depot) and have been happy so far. I chose it over HP models because I have had bad experiences with HP and HP customer service in the past (why don't they send recovery disks with their products!?) and have heard good things about Toshiba from computer repair people (who had seen comparatively more Dell and HP computers coming in).
The keyboard does flex noticeably more than other brands, but it doesn't bother me at all when I am typing.
I do not know if this is a Toshiba or Vista issue, but my DVD/CD drive could not be found (Code 39). This was fixed by deleting a couple of files in the registry (sites online explain how to do it). I was not very happy about that problem, but again, it may not be Toshiba specific.
The blue LED lights on the computer annoy me (the word "Satellite" and power indicators), but the addition of extraneous bright lights to the computer seems to be a fad now, because other brands have them too. If anyone
