Got this to replace the Seagate hard drive that came with my computer, which I bought in 2005. Easy installation and partitioning. Had it for a month and it has worked to perfection. Have no complaints. Did lots of research before buying and Best Buy had the lowest price. I ordered it online and picked it up at the store the next day. Couldn't be happier with Best Buy prices and service. Just ordered an external hard drive from them because once again Best Buy had the best bang for my buck.

This drive added the capacity I need for my old computer that was getting full but the installation software would only copy all the partitions from the existing drive when I only wanted to copy 1. This made my installation difficult.

I am not a techie and this was recommended by a fried who is. He thought this had a good value and we decided to use a second hard drive because I upgraded my operating system and we were afraid I hadn't backed up everything to my external drive and guess what. I hadn't. That was a very, very good suggestion for the money.

So, when you are installing a hard drive, you put the drive in and you throw in the CD, which is the road to disaster here. The CD is for a monitoring program not for installation. It is possible to waste a fair amount of time learning this little fact. Maybe they just wanted to force me to read the paper instructions? Still, it would not hurt to name the software so that its function was clear. Or label the disc "not for installation." On the one hand it was clearly my mistake, on the other, I am sharing because I am sure others will make the same mistake.

The drive seems to be OK. The biggest issue I have with Best Buy is on the web they say it has a 5yr warranty. The first time I went to the store the ones they had only showed 1yr warranty on the box. I wrote Best Buy and told them of the discrepancy but never changed it on the web. I went to the store a second time with the numbers shown for the item on the web and matched them to the one in the store. They were exactly the same and the sales persons there could not explain why they where advertised as 5yr and the box said 1yr. Just by chance I was looking around in the store and was looking for Western digital hard drive with a longer warranty and of course they were out of stock but I saw the Seagate drive and looked to see what the box said. The only one there had 5yrs on the box so I grabbed it while I had the chance. Before you buy find out what the box has on it or you may not get what you think for a warranty. I read where the 5yr ones are Pre flood drives and the 1yr ones are post wherever they are built.

I Needed a replacement drive for my Win7 desktop. This drive comes with software that makes it easy to copy all the old data including my win7 OS to the new drive. There were a few glitches. Such as the firewall would not enable and some games that didn't transfer properly. I download the missing files from Microsoft to fix the firewall. Then I reinstalled the games. no futher issues so far this month.

Seagate makes some nice drives, Less failures then the cheaper brands at least for me. Install is easy as Sata cables are a snap to install and the cages on my new PC are very simple to install into.

Power adapter cable that comes in the box really came in handy. Comes with SATA cable as well. I was replacing a failed drive so I didn't need it but nice to see it in the box.
