Hp - 17.3" Pavilion Laptop - 8gb Memory - 1tb Hard Drive - Natural Silver
Hewlett Packard
- m7-1015dx
Pros: Workhorse
Cons: Price.
This is as good as everyone says in these reviews at Best Buy and at other sites where its listed for sale. Was looking at other laptops for less than $600 but decided to get more of everything for a little more. Didn't want teh 17.3 screen but really like it. Especially when having lots of files and pages open. IE 9 is still slow so downloaded Google Chrome. Much better. Have a NetGear N300 on my desktop for wireless connection to a Verizon JetPack and it drops signal occasionally. The built in LAN/Wifi on this has never lost connection once to the JetPack. A little touchy on the pad for zooming in and out but you get used to it. Pad can be turned off when doing heavy typing.
Refurbished or not- make sure it is checked by you and sales associates before you leave the store. Check all keys, lit keypad, screen and functions with logging on as well with the fingerprint verifyer.
Have been well pleased with service at our local store in Wooster, Ohio with various products purchased the last couple of years However, I was ready to buy this online on a Saturday evening but decided to wait until Sunday in order to have a fellow computer geek take a look at it. The next day they raised the price $50! Searching online it was advertised at another Micro store Center for $150 less. So went there and bought it in person. Not sure why Best Buy raised their price but maybe its the good reviews. Didn't want to purchase from them on this item for that reason alone. Could have asked for a match price but why didn't they lower it by $50 instead of raising it in the first place????
Otherwise, great product and am well pleased.

Pros: Speed, Storage and ease of use
Cons: N/A
I am a heavy laptop user. I have had my laptop for 8 months now and liked it so much I purchased 3 more for the office. Dependable, fast, more than ample storage space and great reliability. A GREAT value for this size of machine. Also Best Buy has consistently beaten other retailers even NewEgg, HP and even Costco.

Pros: Lots of ports, powerful, thoughtful design, great keyboard and sound.
Cons: No esata (but UBS 3.0 just as good), screen is only ok but bright. No blue-ray.
As a testament to the design, I no longer use my quad-core desktop - this thing is great. I really like the bright backlit keyboard (letters are clear), but the arrow keys are a little small, but full sized numeric makes up for it. Trackpad is nice, but not as usable as say a sony where you can do scrolling on the trackpad. Multitouch allows zoom. Whole aluminium thing is very nice and lighter than expected for the size. Its HUGE.

Pros: Long battery life, quick processing, easy to use, great audio
Cons: BIG. Did not upgrade well to Windows 8 (initially)
Having been through my share of laptops in recent years, my biggest complaint has always been when they pitch something as a "Media/Entertainment" style computer and the audio and display are garbage. This behemoth of a computer has saved me from those troubles and helped me in more ways that I can count right now.

Pros: Reasonable price, beautiful display
Cons: Incredibly poor build quality
Had really been looking forward to receiving this computer based on the specs and reviews here. However, as soon as removed from the box, found that the service cover on the underside of the laptop had not been installed properly with one edge not even secured. Don't understand why it would have even been placed into the box in this condition.

Pros: great display, sleek silver finish, beats audio, easy to set up and use
Cons: Battery pack sticks out a bit awkwardly
The laptop has a big, great looking screen, and the Beats audio gives it excellent sound. Other than the battery sticking out on the bottom a bit more than I would like, this is a terrific, easy to use laptop with a good deal of power to boot.

Pros: Looks, Performance and price point!!!
Cons: I only have one :P
In love with this laptop. Own a late 11 MacBook pro for work and this thing blows it out of the water at a 3rd of the price!! I still cant get over how cheap this was. last year I bought a 15'' dell with i5 and paid 1100 for it and this thing is way way beyond what that is capable of. Highly recommend this device!

Pros: Good price
Cons: Screen is a bit delicate to open
Computer worked fine straight out of the box. A RAM upgrade to 16 GB was done and really helped spped things up. Screen display is bright and easy to view under most lighting.

Pros: Easy to set up, lots of tips from HP
Cons: Tons of features that might not be so easy for a beginner
I use this computer primarily for online classes, and it has everything I need and more. I also use it for music, and it has an awesome sound system. I love it!!

Pros: Third Generation i7 Ivy Bridge Quad Processors, 17 Inch Display, Beats Audio, 3 3.0 USB Ports, Backlit Keyboard
Cons: Battery failure (plugged in, not charging)
As far as the money is concerned it's a good laptop with 8 GB of RAM and the 3rd Gen, i7 quad processors make it really fast after you get the BIOS update. My laptops are mainly for gaming and this one is fairly decent but really can't handle Skyrim on ultra settings. Other games it has no problem on their highest settings. The 17 inch screen is great for watching movies or gaming but I run a highspeed HDMI cable to my flatscreen and it handles the second monitor support greatly. The audio support could be better and tends to be tricky if you are running multiple audio components. The biggest gripe is with battery not charging when plugged in. The only true fix is to manually calibrate the battery since it's a problem with the motherboard and not the battery or the charger.

Pros: Performance, resolution, screen size, backlit keyboard, battery life
Cons: Nothing
I’ve been in technology since the late 80’s and this is the best laptop I ever used. Some won’t like to hear this, but it’s on par with some of the high end Macbook pros. You don’t get all the software you’d get with the Mac but this is less than half the price. HP copied all the Mac touchpad capabilities which are awesome. Lots of people want smaller screens these days, but I love the 17 inch screen. I also love that it has two internal drive bays. I added a $200 256GB SSD drive as the primary and made the 1 TB drive a data drive. Checkout youtube for the installation instructions. Super easy. This thing screams after that change. Startup including the fingerprint logon is less than 20 seconds. Close the lid and it hibernates in seconds. BUY THIS!!!!

Pros: Cost and Battery life
Cons: The speed.
When I bought this I got it for multi tasking, which it does fairly well, but not as well as I expected given the amount of memory it has. But I can upgrade to 16 GB of RAM, so that should do the trick. However, the audio is the best I've heard on any laptop ever. The screen is very nice, and the look is excellent. I also love the fingerprint scanner and the touchpad. It also has all the ports I need, but wish it had a blu ray drive/burner. The battery lasts forever though! I typically get about 5-6 hours out of it. It is supposed to last up to 9.5 hours though.

Pros: Battery life, processing speed
Cons: Mouse pad buttons not sensitive
Large laptop, lots of keyboard space and viewing screen
Stays cool, lots of storage space
Mouse touchpad works well, but the click buttons with it do not...the wide button needs to be pressed just in the middle to register a click; if you click to one side of the button, it "rocks" off the click.

Pros: Battery Longevity
Cons: Performance
I bought this laptop to replace my primary machine, my Asus G73JH. Even though the specs show it as an i7, and the clock speed is 700Mhz faster, it runs more like an i3 processor. My 1600Mhz Asus can run rings around this machine.
>>>
Even with the HP stallware removed or disabled, this machine is bottlenecked, I'm going back to my old machine.
