Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen
I was somewhat concerned when I ordered this remote about how easy it would be to setup and if it could truly replace my existing remotes. It arrived yesterday and I am thrilled. The software provided is very intuitive and after entering in the model numbers for my components and having it walk me thru the sequence required for the various activities it just worked as advertised. I had one function that I use alot on my DISH remote that wasn't mapped initially (the DVR button) but it only took a few seconds to create a soft button for that feature. This remote rocks!!!

This is a long review, intended to provide more current information and ideally give some insight about using this remote in real life circumstances.

I don't agree with the few folks who gave this a poor review and rating. Of course, they were representing their opinions, as entitled, and I am doing so here. Sometimes people review similar but different models or brands, and to be clear, I am giving my opinion of the Harmony One universal remote. This is an amazing set of technology, and clearly the best universal remote I have evaluated, used and owned throughout the years. Sure, one can usually find some negatives if determined to do so. For me, there are none. Yes, it would be great if it did Bluetooth in addition to IR so I wouldn't have to manually press the power button on my PS3/Blu-ray console, but it doesn't and I knew that before I bought it. And, as of this writing, I am not aware of any reasonably priced consumer universals that do both.

To the person's review that

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen
I was very excited when I received the Harmony One. From everything I read, and from friends who have older Harmonies, I expected this remote to handle all our needs; well it almost does.

The setup for this remote is fairly simple; you just connect it to your computer, via USB, and run the Harm ony software. The setup is fairly intuitive. Simple questions are asked to determine which devices should be on or off when you are trying to accomplish a task. This runs smoothly unless you have dial-up. On dial-up updating your remote can take 7 - 10 minutes. This can be a hassle when you are initially setting up your remote and trying to fine tune the custome features.

I love that I can set up custom buttons that will do anything my previous remotes did. The LCD screen is nice except I find myself having to be careful which area of the screen I touch. It is very easy to hit the wrong button.

There are a couple of things about the remote I do not like.

First, I do not like the layout

I've owned 5 and currently own 4 Harmony remotes. Yes, I like them and this One is the best one ever, IMHO. Is it perfect, no, but none are. It's so close to perfect that I can live with its minor faults. I'm not going to give a full review, others have and have done admirable jobs. What I'd like to do is aim those that want to take the remote further to some really helpful web sites. First there's RemoteCentral, lots of good information to be found there. Second and my personal favorite is AVSForum. Find the remote section and you will find the One and other Harmonys discussed. Last and certainly not least is IconHarmony. There you will find TV Logo icons reimagined by a graphic artist specifically for the One. Oh, the "Favorites" feature. That's where the fun begins. He also made graphics for the screen saver. All three above are dot coms. Hopefully you will find great help and support at these sites.

I love my Harmony One remote. It is high quality and elegant. It feels great in your hand. The software makes it easy to setup and gives you enough low level control to tweak it for complex setups (i.e. make techno-geeks like me happy). It took me a little while to recognize the difference between activity mode and device mode. Once I did I was really able to use it to it's full potential and save tons of key strokes on the remote. I try to explain it below. I highly recommend the Harmony One. Below are my comments and observations on the remote.

- My Setup: DVD Player, Ultimate TV (DirecTV DVR), VCR, DVD Recorder, Archos TV+ (DVR), Receiver, TV

- Some of My Activities:
-> Watch Ultimate TV: Turn on TV and Receiver, Set Receiver to Sat Input for sound, Set TV to correct Video Input. Ultimate TV is set to remain on at all times.
-> Watch DVD: Turn on TV, Receiver and DVD player. Set Receiver to DVD, set TV to Component input. Note when switching away from this activity the DVD player

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen
Synopsis: Very Good, but not perfect. Does what it advertises very well. Will require some aptitude/patience to program correctly. Expensive and possibly fragile (i.e. not kid friendly). Overall - maybe the best product out there in this price range.

I'm really not sure how much better a Universal Remote can be. Once programmed, it controls all my devices (Toshiba DLP TV, Sony AV Receiver (about 5 years old), old Sony DVD/CD player, and my Brighthouse Scientific Atlanta DVR). I thought I was stuck when I realized my PSP3 (mainly used for Blu Ray DVD watching) could not be controlled with this device (PSP3 is Bluetooth instead of IR). Then I read about the Nyko Blu-Wave controller (available here on Amazon for $13) which has a tiny USB "dongle" that plugs into your USB port on the front of the PSP3 and controls the PSP3 with IR instead of Bluetooth). The Nyko seems like a perfect solution except that you cant turn the PSP3 on and off using the IR remote. I found this to be a minor problem.

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen
I have to say that this is one of the more impressive, user friendly pieces of A/V equipment I've ever come across. The button layout and touch screen are logically laid out and easy to use, and the choice to include a rechargeable battery was an easily overlooked, but very user friendly decision for a device that would have the potential to burn through AA batteries at a great rate. Programming the remote is a snap using the supplied software, and it's ability to control multiple devices in multiple locations makes it truly useful across a variety of functions, as well as adaptable enough to change with your needs.

All that said, unless you are running at least a HDTV with digital cable or a dish, a DVD player and a receiver, I'm not sure it would be the right way to go. The power of the remote is its ability to combine multiple step processes (i.e. play a DVD) into one click of the button, but if you are running a dual TV DVD player, you don't need that kind of functionality. In

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen
This is one of those things where you really want it, but cannot justify getting it. If you have a bazillion remotes, I highly suggest this.

This is my third universal remote. The first two, I just gave up on. Some things work, some don't. Or you have to remember certain key combinations and do a ritual dance for it to play a DVD, or massage it on it's left side to turn on Tivo, etc. This is as simple as ONE button for whatever you want to do. And it's not even a button, it's a touch screen and you feel like a Jetson using it.

If you have the technical patience of a wet rag, all you have to do is let your computer do the work. You answer a few questions along the way, and everything is constantly updated online. The remote adapts to old and future electronics. It will not become obsolete! And say you have to do a trail of button pushing to play a DVD... i.e. turn tv on, turn to channel preferred by dvd player, turn on dvd player etc... well, you literally touch one thing,

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen
A year ago, I purchased the Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote Control and have liked it so much that I had determined to buy a second remote this year in order to have one upstairs and one downstairs. Although both the Harmony 880 and the new Harmony One each control many devices (I currently have 14 devices configured on each), it became tiresome to have to go to a different floor of the house to grab the remote for the other level. Then Amazon Vine received the Harmony One remote from Logitech for review, and I was thrilled to be able to review it.

The Harmony 880 and the Harmony One are very similar in functionality and programming. Both are programmed using a USB interface to your PC and the Logitech Harmony Remote Software. Both can handle multiple devices with considerable ease, allowing for most users to configure every remote-controlled device in their home. Both remotes can `learn' from the original remote if you are not able to configure a device using the model

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen
The introduction of the new Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote has really raised some eyebrows and produced a lot of chatter in the electronics gadget market. Once you see this remote and try it for yourself you will understand what all the buzz is about!

The Harmony line of universal remotes has become the most popular among average consumer grade remotes here in the U.S. Although not cheap, the Logitech Harmony series offers great functionality, easy computer-based programmability, and stylish looks at a somewhat affordable price. I already owned two other Harmony remotes, including the Logitech Harmony 550 Universal Remote and the Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote Control, before deciding to buy the new Harmony One. The 880 model has proven to be a wonderful but somewhat frustrating remote to own. It has very small buttons, a smallish color LCD display, and I had problems with the charging feature working properly when sitting the remote in its charging

Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen
Having owned multiple A/V Receivers which comes with their own "univeral" remotes capable of controlling other devices (e.g. TV, Tivo, DVD player) in my home theater setup, I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get myself a real universal remote/toy. Like everything else in the past, I did extensive research at several websites and read reviews when one was available.

I was looking at the Philips TSU9400 Pronto but felt it was too expensive for what I needed to practically achieve and required in-depth programming skills that will may take too much time to learn. Next choice was the Harmony 890 which had the RF capabilities. But I really did not need that option. Next was the newly released Logitech Harmony ONE. I always wanted a touch screen remote which adds to the WoW toy factor. The Harmony 1000 had the touch screen feature but I felt the shape/size will not feel good in the hands. Reviews for the Harmony ONE at several forums and websites were positive. I like the piano black
