Activision Guitar Hero Rechargeable Battery Kit
If I had to buy this, I would be very, very disappointed. It came with the bundle I received for Christmas, so it does get its use, but these things hardly stay charged more than a week.

If you play it constantly and recharge it daily the battery pack does ok. It's rated at a pathetic 680mAh. For reference, standard AA rechargeable NIMH batteries are about 2000-2500. They lose their charge so quick (all batteries do when charged, these just lose it extra quickly). So if you used it a few days ago, even for 30 minutes, DO NOT expect it to be charged enough to even turn on the guitar. It probably won't have any charge left.

It's ok to have a few on hand as long as you charge them before you use it, otherwise you're going to pull it out and wonder why it's dead, resulting in getting out the regular batteries anyway.

This device is not worth the price. Having received it in the bundle I do use it, but if I had the choice to buy it separately I never would have.

The Guitar Hero Recharge Battery Pack Kit offers an alternate solution for powering your wireless GHIII controller.

The kit consists of a proprietary battery pack (i.e., you can't use it in anything else) and a charger. Both items are very compact - barely bigger than a Zippo lighter. The charger connects to your Xbox via any USB port. I was surprised how quickly it fully recharges a battery pack - from totally dead to totally fresh in about two hours - since it doesn't plug directly into the wall. Also, your Xbox does NOT have to be powered on to charge the battery pack. A fully-charged battery gives you about 10 - 12 hours of play.

My only question is how necessary it really is. I get great battery life using regular alkalines despite playing a few hours just about every day. So it may be months until I recoup the cost of this kit vs. the regular batteries I would have been feeding into the guitar. Plus, this rechargeable pack goes a noticeably shorter amount of time between
