Asus - 173" Laptop - 8GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - Black

I bought this laptop in June and the night I brought it home the motherboard died. I returned it to Best Buy and they ordered me a replacement laptop. It worked nicely for a few months; nice performance, very quiet, handled most games on high settings. Occasional crashes, mostly with things like Firefox. Then the hard drive died in November. Best Buy sent the laptop out and they installed a new one through the manufacturer's warranty. Now, just last night, the system started locking up a few minutes after startup. Ctrl-Alt-Del does nothing, the only remedy is a hard reboot. It's totally unusuable. I've had it with the countless issues with this unreliable machine and I can't believe I wasted so much money on it.

Ever since I bought this computer, I have had continual problems with ASUS taking over my computer with their "Live Updates". When they do this, there is no asking permission to modify your computer, it just starts and runs it. Every time it does this, it erases all of my monitor settings, puts the lowest resolution on my secondary screen and wipes out my laptop screen. I have repeatedly contacted ASUS about this and they refuse to solve the problem! It takes over an hour each time to restore the laptop to the way it was before they ran their program. I strongly recommend that no one purchase this computer if they wish to change any of the settings that came with the computer. If I had the money, I would throw this laptop in the trash and purchase a different brand of laptop. I use this computer for photography and cannot afford to have these problems happen unannounced, or wanted.

I purchased this laptop primarily for photo editing. I had the Geek Squad add a 120gb SSD drive, and made it the system / software drive. Start up takes less that 20 seconds.

Bought this on October, shipped it to Philippines and received it today.. Thank god no problems and its in perfect condition. I just tried Planetside 2, it runs around 25-35FPS at high settings 1080p, which is kinda good for this unoptimized game..

Got a surprise when I went to my local Best Buy. Was gonna buy a new laptop from the webstore but went in and found this on the shelf. Price was just what I was looking to pay for it, killer graphics and sound. Windows 8 though is not so great. Trying to figure it out is a pain. This replaced a 4 year old GateWay FX that decided to die on me. I primarily game with this but needed the graphics power for my job. I run a charting and navigation program that is rather graphics heavy and this one runs it with no problems.

This laptop is amazing!!! My dad bought it before I did and he loved it (to play games for his business trip). I bought it the day he left online (none at stores near me sadly), and received it that Friday. Easy to set up the windows and the terabyte hard drive is great for keeping files without worrying about taking up all of your space quickly.

Computer is designed for gaming, but I'm in charge of a graphic design department and ALL of my artists have one of these computers in either this or one of its predecessors. They work lightning fast, upgraded all of them to Windows 8, not a hitch on any of them. Run the Adobe suite of software with almost no problems at all. It's not just for gaming!

If I HAD to put a con, it would be the size, but I wasn't looking for a tiny laptop, I was looking for a gaming laptop, and this fit the bill. I hesitated for some time on this purchase and going this route as I've built computers for gaming over the past 10 years, but I don't have the time for it now. This laptop is the perfect solution.

This is my first Asus computer. I've always owned HP computers. This computer made me never want a HP again. I even got my sister a Asus laptop too! Its a great brand I highly recommend this laptop it's worth the money. I use this laptop for heavy gaming with all settings on high, this video card doesn't even stutter for one second. I also use it for Photoshop and the vibrant colors I get on the nice display are amazing. Recommend this laptop to anyone who multitasks on their computer!

I'm an avid player of The Sims 1, 2, & 3 PC games and I have been unable to find a laptop that could support all three games at the same time, along with the expansion packs, stuff packs, and downloaded content...until now. I'm finally free to move about my house with a laptop, instead of being confined to one room on a desktop! This laptop performs effortlessly while I am simming. I love that the fan is in the back, so I can keep it on my lap. I'm also in love with the backlit keyboard and smooth functioning touch pad. The only negative thing I can say about it is that it is heavy and a bit bulky, but I knew that when I bought it...it's definitely worth it! I highly recommend this product!

Great computer as long as you never move it and have a fan to put underneath to keep it cool. Great for gaming and everything else you need to do with a computer.

This is a great laptop. It's marketed for gamers, but works well for photo & video editing. Good monitor color, easy to hook up an HDMI monitor. I was disappointed to find that Best Buy did not stock the right memory to upgrade to 16 gb at the correct speed, had to obtain it from another vendor.

I would love to give this laptop a 5/5 but the only thing holding it back is the internal mic. I've owned an Asus gaming laptop before and that mic was bad too, I guess it's just a problem with Asus. The problem with the internal mic is that it pics up sound from everything but your voice. you have to speak up just to be heard. For an expensive laptop, this shouldn't be happening to such a inexpensive piece. Other than the mic, this laptop performs spectacular for it's price range. a similar alienware gaming laptop will run you almost $700 more. If you like to game and are looking for the most bang for your buck, it's this laptop. There is very little bloatware and it looks great!

My Son says its the best gaming laptop hes ever had. Its fast and now he can play the newest games and keep up with his friends online. I haven't heard him complain since we got rid of that Toshiba laptop. It cost me 1,500.00 so it better be what he needs. I've never seen him so happy. The Speed and CPU,Video card, mem, overall the best gamer laptop I've ever had.

There are 3 different versions of this computer. The top of the line in which I thought I was buying is not available at Best Buy. I originally wanted the Alienware 18x. Then saw this one and thought for the money this was the way to go. Until I realized it was not the one as advertised on website. I have an Asus touch pad in which I'm happy with so since I was already committed to purchase I decided to stick with it . So far so good, looks cool I like the big screens on laptops and this one looks great! I use strictly for work and internet applications and all is good..
