Western Digital My Passport 1 TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - WDBBEP0010BBK-NESN (Black)
Western
- WDBBEP0010BBK-NESN
Pros: Plenty Of Storage, USB 3.0 very quick, compact, great looks, fast read and write
Cons: USB cable is specific for 3.0/2.0 so if you loose it you have to buy a specific one
Bought this for my self after i had a external hard drive quit on me. I love the western digital brand great brand. Love the design on the hard drive looks really nice and clean. The usb cable works 3.0/2.0. On 3.0 on a netbook on a 5400 rpm internal drive i was getting rates upwards of 40 megs per second i average between 15-17 compared to 8-10 on usb 2.0. Great little hard drive very portable and plenty of storage. Love the features and the software (i dont personally because i use it for both pc and mac) But would def recommend it to anybody looking for a good 1tb hard drive for on the go.

Pros: Easy to setup and use and compact
Cons: Software is a little funny but is not needed.
This was recommended to me. I was skepitcal but once I got it home and plugged it in, it worked perfectly. Make sure you do the updates before you do anything else. You will need to run the updates on all the computers you connect it to. After that drag and drop your files or use the software which will search and backup everything it thinks you need backed up.

Pros: Easy to install
Cons: there is nothing wrong with it!
It is very easy to use and I bought it to save pictures and found that it backs up my computer whenever I want.. once a day once a week or once a month I have the choice to decide that's what I love about it..best thing on the market for any computer!Recommend very highly and worth it!

Pros: Good price, works well after reformating for iMac OS X
Cons: Had to reformat it
The product came formated for PC not MAC OS. The package says its compatible and it is but I had to get it in the right format. Not all users would or could do this.
...
Pros: Easy to set up and use
Cons: Nothing if you need a back up dive for a home computer this is it
Very easy to set up and use. I got it to back up my laptop and it did it easily and there's still a crazy amount of space left for other things. I highly recommend it!!!
...
Pros: No major setups, FAST at UPLOADS from storage, and mass storage into device.
Cons: Initial backup (from another mass storage to this device) was slower than I liked.....
...about 200 Gb of data transferred from another [few years older] WD external memory to this one took about 4.5 hours (using a newer ASUS Ultrabook running Windows 8).
...
Pros: Easy to hook up and install, easy to figure out (just plug it Ito laptop), works fast, good price
Cons: Needs a case to protect it.
Couldn't have gotten a better deal! I'm not smart with this type of technology and I had it figured out in less than five minutes! Plug in, copy files/movies or whatever, and paste. Done :)
...
Pros: Portable, fast access
This is a simple, easy-to-use device with lots of space and good performance (which can be stunted by your computer). Because I travel a lot, I wanted something small and light with lots of space and this has worked out perfectly.
...
Pros: Good price
Cons: PC to Mac switching
I thought I would be able to use this with PC and Mac. You can, but you have to reformat each time, which will wipe the device's memory. Can't just transfer files between Mac and PC and the device quickly.
...
Pros: basically plug n play. ready to go right out of the box and very compact.
Cons: Haven't experiemced a single negative yet
The unit was priced very well compared to other units of the same size and specs. Like I mentioned before, it was basically a plug and play device, ready to go out of the box.
...
Pros: Easy To Install, Fast, Highly Compatible, Integrated Software, Quiet, Reliable
Runs silent, runs deep.<br >Purchased to upgrade to latest device for more storage. As a writer, I can't afford to lose any data if my main drive locks up or hiccups.
...
Pros: USER FRIENDLY!
Cons: USB cord that comes with unit is a little short.
I needed a unit that I could use to backup my entire computer (750gb hard-drive). I don't have it full and probably never will fill it but I don't have to worry that I'll run out of room on the portable/external since it's 1TB.

Cons: Locked itself so I cannot retrieve backup data.
Three days after backing up all of my data, this drive started asking me for a password to unlock the drive. I never set up a password and so I could not unlock the drive to use it or even see what was on it. I called WD support and they sent me a new USB cable - of course, that did nothing to solve my problem. WD support does not have any means of resetting the drive. They told me I would have to click on the drive option to erase all of the data and start over. This drive is presently at a Data Recovery vendor. The internet is full of similar experiences as mine for this drive - too bad I did not investigate before my purchase.
...
Pros: nothing unless you want to loose your files quickly
Cons: the whole experience of having made the purchase
Transferred files from PC to WD external h/drive within hours of doing that a code showed up that indicated machine was in trouble and was aborting. Completely shut down, couldn't proceed. Called WD hotline, spoke w/rep who tried to talk me through a process. It didn't work machine was faulty and now data wasn't retrievable. Still trying to resolve problem after 3weeks from purchase

Pros: Great instructions to reformat for Mac
Cons: Some difficulty with early on instructions
I purchased this preformated for PC; sales agent said it was easy to reformat for Mac. I did have to do a bit of investigation on-line for Mac instalations; but once I found the instructions, the formatting was a snap. I think anyone coud do this just short of the very computer beginning.
