I wanted a portable bootable external HD without any external power source (not even USB) for my Powerbook G4 aluminum (Tiger) and this LaCie Little Disk 160GB FireWire 400 works perfectly.

I have used LaCie drives since the mid-eighties and have never been disappointed with product quality or service. The Little Drive 160 is no exception. About the size of an old-fashioned cigarette case and weighing-in at roughly 7 oz., the drive runs at a fast 5,700 bps on Firewire or slightly less on USB 2. It is beautifully designed and unusually quiet. While it may cost more per GB than the competition, it is a LaCie --which means product quality is better than average, that bundled software for either Windows or OSX/Mac is useful, and that service and warranty are both superior (2 years on this one). The package includes all necessary cables and a case.
As with most LaCie drives, this oe is formatted in FAT code, which means that it's plug-and-play for either Macs or most PCs. It is also fully Leopard-compatible.
In a crowded marketplace, LaCie remains at he top of the heap. Handsome, efficient and versatile -- and also perfect for travel with a laptop, the Little Drive is a little
