For the longest time, I resisted Apple, but honestly after ordering this little device, I have thought twice about my opinion of Apple. I don't think I have ever had an mp3 player as nice as this one.
You have to go through itunes to add music, but itunes is amazing in regards to how it organizes your music. I would highly recommend this product. Overstock's price is great, and the ipod came in perfect shape!

pros: it's very cheap and well worth the money. it was in great condition when i received it. just a few scratches that they couldn't buff out at the refurb plant i assume. there was a deep scratch on the touch wheel that is bothersome, but it's just aesthetic and you can't feel it without trying to and it doesn't affect the operation at all.
cons: there are no cons with overstock or the fact that it's a refurb at all. but the 160gig ipod classic is so large with such a massive OS running, that it takes a few seconds to respond sometimes. you usually can only scroll 4 or 5 lines at a time quickly, the picture previews of the music and videos bog down the system too much for it to be a good design. but in the grand scheme of things, it's great. i'd recommend to anyone. and i already have to multiple people.

I quickly outgrew my 80GB iPod, but hesitated to buy the 160, primarily based on the convincing and negative review of:

I finally went ahead and purchased a 160 from a store that did not charge a restocking fee and that I could return without shipping.
I experienced none of the difficulties that James, and others, reported.
I was able to sync about 90 GB of data in approximately three hours. I've had no difficulty with songs skipping during playback, and although I haven't tested this yet, it appears that the video out connnectors are there and functional.
There are some other features that I hadn't heard mentioned that also make the upgrade worthwhile.
The first is the change in the display. The iPod now uses a two line display for many items with the first line being a larger, bold font. This is great for navigating while driving. It's *much* easier to read.
Next, the iPod now supports nested
