The sound quality is good but the speakers are way too big. I have had a problem with my receiver. I just got it installed yesterday and the best buy agent who installed it said that one of the ports for the speaker is not working. Also the satellite agent was not able to get any reception from the HDMI. So I am waiting to see if this too is a problem with the receiver. I plan to call amazon to replace the receiver.

I read the other amazon reviews for this product, and I agree on most, specially those that rate it between 4 and 5 stars. My only gripe is that when I received it and installed it, after two weeks of enjoyment it stopped working; concerned, I troubleshoot and went online to see if other people had experienced the same problems I had (the system stopped sending HDMI image and sound to the TV, from HDMI input signals), and it resulted no solution existed rather than send it back to the original seller or to Onkyo themselves; I had to go through the (awesomely simple) amazon returns process, and after receiving the replacement, and setting it up, everything worked perfectly and I'm the happy owner of this great system.
I know it's not a high-end system, but for the budget I decided to spend in a HTIB system, and at the time of purchase, few options are better than this. I'm very satisfied with the functionalities, it's very future-proof and I happily recommend it to anyone interested.

First, I am very satisfied with the whole process of shopping through Amazon.com. Great reviews provided for the products. I purchased this product after a great deal of research on multiple sites, including Consumer Reports. I had never heard of Onkyo before, but I liked their extensive HTIB packages. I settled on this one because of the many features, including the speaker optimization. It was great to watch the price change almost daily on amazon and I ended up paying about $50 less than when I originally decided to buy and overall saved $200 off retail (not to mention no tax or shipping). Now to the product. Everything arrived intact via CEVA delivery and within timeframe promised. Setup was easy with exception of hooking on the speaker wires without banana plugs as due to the number of speakers, it was very cramped to insert the wire into the connectors on the receiver. In my final setup, I attached banana plugs to the wiring. Comprehensive remote provided with the receiver.

Pros:
- Solid Onkyo product with good sound. Sub-woofer is especially good.
- Receiver is very full featured. It comes with a calibration mic so the system adjusts itself to the layout/arrangement of your viewing area.
- The receiver supports newer HD surround formats that BluRay discs will support.
- Good upscaling dvd player, upscales regular DVD's to 1080p. Also plays mp3 CD's fine.
- The Ipod dock allows you to control the Ipod from your receiver's remote. The Ipod dock also supports video out from the Ipod.
- One major point for me was the discrete components i.e. distinct receiver, dvd player etc. You can get cheaper Sony, Panasonic units for around $500 where many pieces are integrated into one box. If one piece breaks (DVD players often go first), you pretty much have to toss the whole thing. I've heard those units also have proprietary connecting wires to the speakers. With components, individual parts can be used longer especially great receivers like this one. Yes, this Onkyo

Installed the system Sunday listened all day. Used it for about 2 hours Monday also with no problems. Tuesday I turn it on and within 1 min. it turns off and go's into standby mode. I turn it back on and hear a snap crackle and pop and then smoke. So now we will see how they support there product. We have read nothing but great reviews so hopefully we just got a defective unit...

this is a Seriously good product. i have owned it for 3 months now.
the issues with running Hot is real.. as yet i am not sure what to do about it... i Did put the A/V unit in a open Air cabnet. that helped somewhat...
i Do listen at High volumes, this Obviously aggrevates the Heating issues.
After about 2 months, the speakers Quit. i bought KLIPSH B-3's at BESTBUY to replace the Onkyo units. the the Onkyo's Speak effecancy is Low, somwhere in the mid-80db for 1m ,1 watt output.. seriously Low...!!
the Klipsh speakers on the other hand, are Very high sensitivity, High 90's 1m @ 1 watt input.
besides the Onkyo speakers, that i Fully take responciblity for Blowing up, This system ia great Sounding, with the New speakers,(klipsh B-3), this thing really rocks now...
Read the instructions carefully and you should haven't have any issues with setting up this system.
i had none. i will say, keep the booklet in arms length until you become
very familar with the a'v unit.
all in all, i find

I have mixed feelings about this product. I think the sound is OK, however I can't really judge it because the speakers have a comically low sensitivity rating. It is no wonder the product description does not include this info. The rating is 78db. making it a major power drain. I would have done much better getting different speakers and receiver separately. For every 3db. lower rating, you need twice the power to drive it. With a sensitivity rating of 91db. the Infinty Beta speakers would be 4 times louder than the Onkyo speakers at the same volume. Which means you drive your amp one fourth as hard and have much cleaner power. I have to put the receiver up past half way just to here the signal (pathetic). I have the Infinity's on order and will be throwing away these power draining Onkyo's when they get here. I can't recommend this package.

Having gone to demo after demo of multiple HTIB systems ranging from $200 to $2000 and making side by side comparisons of Audio and Video output using the same source disk, I have to add my recommendation to this system. The sound is outstanding in all aspects. For the price you are going to feel a great deal of satisfaction in what this product has to offer. Every positive thing that has been said in previous reviews is absolutely true and may I add one more small piece of information regarding the quality of his system.
The A/V receiver has a Faroujda DCDi Chip in it. This is technology that as of recent was very expensive and found only in high end equipment. Generally the Faroudja technology does incredible things to improve the image output of your DVD or other source. I took a 1080P 42" LCD TV with a Blu-Ray Disc player and placed a 1080i 55" LCD Rear Projection TV with the HT-SP908 System next to it. I played the same movie on both; one with a Blu-Ray player (w/Blu-Ray Movie) and

This is by far the best Home Theater in the Box you can buy. Unlike most HTITB, the Onkyo 908 comes with a "real" receiver, the Onkyo 605. I decided that since this was my first attempt at building a home theater in my family room, I'd go with the simple all-in-one solution. I am very pleased with the purchase. The speakers are great, and the receiver has all sorts of neat features that are detailed in the product description. The best function is that everything I plug into the receiver can be passed through one HDMI cable to the TV. My Xbox 360, Wii, Cable Box, DVD player, and iPod are all hooked in. Having the "real" receiver makes upgrading the speakers in the future an easy task. Heat hasn't been a problem for me as I have it in an open air TV-stand.
Some Pros:
-Best Home Theater in the Box out on the market (My opinion)
-"Real" receiver
-Ease of setup/installation
Some Nitpicking:
-Comes with terrible speaker wire (Most do, just go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy some)
-No ability

I am one of those people that will hem and haw over a purchase like this for a long time, and that is exactly what I did. I read reviews, write ups, specifications, you name it I read it. I had settled on two other systems before deciding on this one because of its power, versatility and its compatibility.
Setup - You will find that running the speaker cable (if you run it behind walls) is the hardest part of the installation. Once all of that is completed the rest is a breeze. Anyone that knows anything will tell you to run at least 16 AWG speaker cable instead of the wires they provide for you. I ran 14 AWG cable and the difference it makes is something that you will notice, especially if you compare the wires side by side. I would also recomend getting a decent Sub-Woofer Coax Cable. Hanging the speakers on the wall is a breeze. You do not need brackets or hangers of any kind. Simply mark the wall where the wire should come through and use an anchor and hand the speaker using the

I've been a big fan of Onkyo since I bought my first Onkyo receiver and CD player back in 1994. This is my third Onkyo purchase and an upgrade from an Onkyo 700 I bought about five years ago. I bought this HTIB because it had everything I was looking for to go with my new HDTV. I wanted HDMI switching, low profile speakers I could mount on the wall, a powered subwoofer, a DVD player with HDMI and to improve the whole sound experience. This package had it all and at a pricepoint well below the systems I was trying to put together by hand.
Being experienced with Onkyo and setting up HT systems of my own, I had little trouble getting this system setup. I wanted to "do it right" this time so I bought banana plugs to terminate the speaker wire (I did not use the wire that came with the system) which makes it SO MUCH easier to install. Besides the speaker connections, I have an HDMI cable going from my cable box and another from the DVD player into the Onkyo receiver and an HDMI out going

I purchased the Onkyo SP908 for Christmas for $737 and I waited a couple weeks to review after having a chance to really test it out. I have PS3 hooked up via HDMI and this thing sounds amazing! I hooked up the system using the wires the system came with and it still sounds fantastic. The blu-rays played with uncompressed sound thru this system sound incredible. Watching movies like Pirates of the Caribbean and Black Hawk Down is like being in the theater, let alone watching it on a HDTV. Also the IPOD dock included is pretty awesome, you can control your ipod from the 605 receiver remote control. The speakers are heavy which is good; heavy magnets inside mean better sound...etc. however they are still small and easy to move around. The sub sounds amazing with a knob to adjust its strength. All in all, I couldn't be happier with my purchase and I give this system a 5/5 stars and would highly recommend it to ANYONE!

I wanted the best home theater possible for under $2000. Ifirst purchased the Panasonic plasma 42PZ77U at $1300. Thismeant I had approx. $700 left for an audio system. Since Iwork in the audio field, this was a difficult decisionbecause I know what pure 20Hz-20KHz sounds like and I workwith professional audio gear on a daily basis. While I wastempted to purchase 7 Mackie 824's ($600 per speaker), anindustry standard in audio recording, I would have needed asecond mortgage and it would definitely be overkill for asmall room. I also needed something simple enough for mywife to use. I began exploring home theater packages. Thereare many brands available, including Bose. I'm not going tobash Bose, but simply give my honest experience with thesesystems. I currently had a 5.1 Cambridge Soundworks systemthat I purchased many years ago when home theater was justtaking off. I paid about $400 for the system and it servedme well for 6 years. With the big move to high def and 7.1,I began thinking
