Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV
Pros: gorgeous picture
Cons: maybe we should have gone bigger???
Last week my partner and I purchased a 60" sharp aquos quattron super mega 3d LED blah blah blah. After spending countless hours fine tuning and watching HD channels, dvds, etc we agreed it best to return the LED and revert back to our 2.5 year old 42" sony LCD (which btw delivered incredible picture quality so I blame marketing for killing LCD fluorescent but that's not why we are writing this review). However, once we got a taste of 60" we found ourselves in search of an affordable alternative after hearing from numerous sources we would not have the soap-opera/uber-2 dimensional pop-up story book blurring for which LED is now famous. The answer = plasma. At our price point, the Panasonic GT @ 55" seemed like a good fit. We spent about hours and hours researching the plasma models and decided on the GT over the ST. Out of the box, without any calibrations we watched True Blood/HBO via Dish Network HD and were blown away. After, threw in the 2011 Star Trek DVD (not blue ray, just DVD) and flipped the switch to activate the THX factory calibrated settings. LOVED IT!!! Have watched the battle scenes a few times and there was NONE of that funky uber-2D we encountered after spending so many hours calibrating the sharp LED. We are VERY HAPPY with this purchase!!! You would be too!!!

Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV
My Fiancee and I bought a LED TV before and had to return it because we kept suffering from eye strain and headaches. We replaced it with the Panasonic VIERA GT50 series and couldn't be happier. The action is smooth, colors are vivid and consistent all in a sleek, thin package.

Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV
Pros: The picture quality is excellent
Cons: The sound quality is average
I researched plenty of TVs before buying the Panasonic GT50. You should do the same, but consider the following points. You should not base your decision on picture quality at the store, many of the TV settings have not been tuned properly and the bright lighting in store favors the brighter TVs which is not always the best picture quality. For 3D viewing note that only active 3D platform provides true 1080 definition. The Panasonic glasses are expensive, but note that Samsung & other glasses work as long as they are marked with "Full HD 3D" logo. This logo represents an industry standard that is displayed on TV set as well. The BB salespeople weren't aware of this standard and indicated the glasses wouldn't work. For more information on this standard see following link: http://www.fullhd3dglasses.com/index.php/press/january-10-2012-panasonic-samsung-sony-and-xpand-3d-explore-firs/

Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV
Pros: Picture
Cons: nothing so far
The standard picture mode is too dark for me, but the THX Cinema mode is just outstanding. I was a little concerned about the brightness of our room and glare, but it just hasn't been a problem.

Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV
Pros: Amazing picture on regular and 3D pictures
Cons: sound, but it's fine for me, will connect up my amp eventually
The picture is very very wonderful, especially set on "THX Cinema" I purchased Spears & Munsil High-Definition Benchmark Blu-ray Disc Edition [Blu-ray], and tweaked it a little, but I feel that I could have skipped that. The colors are so true and the skin tones look so realistic. The 3D is great, the glasses fit over my glasses great and are comfortable and cause no discomfort as they say "active" glasses sometimes do. The plasma is a little hotter than my old LCD but not so much that it bothers me. I couldn't be happier with this tv!!

Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV
Pros: Outstanding picture quality, 3D is great also, Internet access
Cons: Using the Internet can be somewhat awkward at time using remote provided
Overall a great addition to our home theater system. Picture is excellent, sound is great with surround sound system. #D to a little getting used to, however it also works great. It would be great if there would be a keyboard and mouse that could be used when on the Internet (I am not aware there is one that will work with this model). We are extremely pleased (at this point) with our purchase.

Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV
Pros: Great picture and 3D ability
Cons: faint humming sound
This is a great TV you will not be dissappointed, the 3D quality is outstanding and is the reason we purchased, but the 2D quality equally amazing, we use the Samsung rechargeable 3D glasses, which work great with this TV, the less expensive battery operated version did not and we returned them. I didnt think 3D would be so tollerable or clear, but I was very happy to see this crystal clear picture in 3D. I've yet to use any of the Internet features, this is just a bonus.

Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV
Pros: Picture Quality, Appearance
Cons: Speakers
The TV looks stunning and the picture quality is even better. I am very satisfied with my experience thus far. I found it very easy to change the picture settings that were provided and find a very quality setting, works well in my room even with the windows open. I haven't tried to calibrate the picture settings yet, but will once I approach 100 hours of viewing. The picture to me seems much brighter than the st50 version of the TV and since I found this TV on sale for less than the st50 I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV
Pros: The Picture
I have had this Plasma for a few months now. The first thing I was impressed with is how slim this TV is. It is much slimmer than any other Plasma's that I have looked into before. The picture quality is amazing. I have a room with blackout curtains and the blacks on this screen are incredible. All of the capabilities of a Smart TV only add to the value of this purchase. A free application is downloadable for your smartphone and I can control everything from my phone, including web browsing and pushing content to the screen from my phone.

Panasonic VIERA TC-P55GT50 55-Inch 1080p 600Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV
Pros: The picture is really just amazing and I got all of the apps that I wanted except the SEC Network and Shutterfly
Cons: One software error with the smart apps. All else exceeds my expectations
I recently purchased a Samsung UN55D6900 LED TV and used it for 44 days and was generally pleased but judder was an issue and I became very concerned that I would find myself really upset when football season comes around. I noticed that action scenes suffered on the LED. Took it back at the last minute and I couldn't be happier. This Plasma is amazing and does not appear to suffer from lots of light as I have it in a well lit room with large windows. I do not see any issues with glare either. I have not used the 3D as the glasses are very expensive but on the positive side Panasonic went with a common standard and I suspect there will be multiple options for less soon. Watched Avatar in Blue Ray the first night and it was better than the Samsung LED, action scenes were smoother and dark scenes had more detail. I am currently using the THX mode for the TV which has the brightness I likeand the tones look very good. There is a THX bright room mode that I have not had to use. By default the TV is set to standard mode and that really is not bright enough for me especially after having the LED for 44 days. Sound is better than the Samsung as well. I could not stand the remote on the Samsung, too much tech, lacking on ergonomics and was very slow to respond. The Panasonic remote is basic, easy and ergonomic in comparison to the Samsung-- I much prefer it. For typing I use the droid app wich works quite well when using the browser. Not as many apps as the Samsung but better movie apps, vudu, amazon and Cinema now are on the panasonic. Amazon is what I have used in the past through a roku, also a great device. The one Software issue is that when I'm in Netflix and hit pause if I leave it for a few minutes and hit play it will close the app and viera tools and I must restart the TV to get back to netflix. I suspect it will be fixed by a software update so I'm really not that worried about this. Bottom line I thought I would prefer an LED and in the end for one hundred less I ended up with a plasma that is far superior.
