Ink Guzzler

I was excited about this all-in-one based on reviews, but I quickly discovered that its scanner--though entirely decent--had a smaller scanning bed than my 5-year-old stand alone scanner (so much for getting rid of that). The far bigger problem is that it goes through ink carts really fast and will refuse to print if it feels unhappy with its ink levels. I don't know what a better inexpensive Mac-friendly printer is, but I'm pretty sure there's got to be one and I wish I'd found it before I'd voted with my dollar.

not bad for price

Printer hooked up easily with my MacBook Pro. Also, works perfectly with my airport which was important. Quality leaves a lot to be desired, but for the price of shipping vs. what we paid for the printer, it wouldn't be economical to return it. The fax works fine although we haven't figured out how to have it NOT answer the phone short of unplugging the phone line. All-in-all a good printer for the low price.

Great Machine for the price

This is a fantastic multifunction machine! It prints beautifully, and is not nearly as loud as my last printer. It makes great copies, and scans nicely. I have not yet used the fax, but I am sure it will work well also, as the other aspects of the machine are great. I have had it running for two months and have not had to replace the ink cartridges yet. I have ordered the injectable ink refills, which were not nearly as expensive as the cartridges, so time will tell as to how long the ink lasts. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive small office multifunction product.

Canon MX300

I use my MX300 for printing, scanning, and faxing. I haven't used it for photos and do not plan to use it for that. The MX300 was super easy to install. It works great - only issue is that the cartridges are expensive and the MX300 uses the ink fast. I have owned the computer about 4 months and have just had to install the 3rd set of cartridges. The cartridges are PRICY for such an inexpensive printer - thus - though the MX300 works well, I may have to buy something else within the year.

Gave up and sent it back after 4 calls to canon.

Printer and copier worked great. Fax would disconnect line during voice phone calls. The first repair tech told me this was a known problem. After 4 calls to canon , I was told to leave the machine OFF so it would not disconnect the line during voice calls! What a wonderful fix for the problem! Gave up and sent it back.

Fantastic printer for the price, just a tad too bulky

Extreme value for the price. Prints quickly, although about 1-2 minute load time after pressing the power on button. Only complaint is that it takes up half my desk space.

Easy to use inexpensive printer/fax/copier/scanner

I am happy with this printer/fax/copier/scanner. It was easy to set up with my Mac. The print quality is good.
I will try to do an update later on about the other functions. It is not too heavy; but it is wider than my eMac (Mac computer.) I ordered a USB cable too; so I was able to hook it up when I got it. I am happy with it.

Good for basics

I've owned the MX300 for about two months now. If you're sure about your priorities, this MFP could be fine for you -- it is for me. I mainly print text documents of 5 pages or less for my own use -- I don't need the best text quality. I also wanted the ability to fax, but I don't need to fax more than a page or two every week. I receive a few pages a week as well.

Overall, the MX300 was easy to set up. I wasn't sure how well it would work with my single-line digital phone from Time Warner. The instructions were of little help with fax setup, but it wasn't difficult to figure out, and it works well. Fax quality is very good, very legible.

Photo output is mixed. The smoothness and color is good --it's just that the color is really not accurate at all. Color scans also have this problem. If you can calibrate your monitor to the printer, you can get better color, but I find color is pretty far off from the originals. So if color isn't that important to you, photos are fine.
