I bought this as a compact travel camera to supplement my older Nikon SLR. I wanted something that would could take good casual pictures when carrying the Nikon would be a hassle. I am disappointed.

I bought this at Mother's Day knowing that I was taking a vacation in Scandanavia & Russia in 7 weeks. I used the lead time to learn to use the canmera. The photos from the trip came out great. This included shots of fireworks, a laser show, lots of beautiful buildings, scenery and nice shots of friends. This camera is a keeper. I agonized about getting an SLR because I missed my old Canon A1. This camera has manual settings too and its not heavy or bulky to carry. I miss the viewfinder though.

I used it primarily using &quot;intelligent auto&quot;--true point and shoot. I loved the zoom feature! I was amazed at the quality of the images even if it was zoomed at max.<br ><br >I wanted to explore more how to use the special technical features but it's not on the manual that came with it. I presume it's in the cd but I didn't get a chance to look at it and download the file. It should have been printed out as part of the manual. Why do we have to go the extra mile to get it? <br ><br >Word of advice to new users: if you're going use it to take vacation photos, play with the camera first before you go so you're not fiddling with it on the spot. You might miss the moment...

My only con with this camera is battery life seems short. I believe this might be due to the fact of the GPS takes more battery power. Otherwise this camera is great and it atleast 20 times better than my old Lumix TZ5- Get this camera, was a great deal @ JR.com. I will be back for sure.

The range of focal lengths, from 24mm wide angle up to 20x (or even 40X)zoom makes this a great all around camera. It is small and portable, but takes fabulous images.

Picture quality absolutely convincing, intelligent recording mode (point &amp; shoot) produces good to very good results (exposure, sharpness). Zoom a little rough (too fast), GPS useful, but sometimes (as expected) a little off (use GeoSetter for subsequent correction). Touch screen function for focusing useful, otherwise rather superfluous. Good menu structure, but partly too many &quot;clicks&quot; to the desired function (especially GPS). The USP: downloadable maps for GPS function - the GPS positioning can be checked / corrected already at the camera. Clear Cons: No external charger (optional accessory). Overall, strong buy recommendation.

Using camera for first time on trip overseas. Camera is one of the fastest of it's type I've ever used. Auto focus is amazing in accuracy and speed, much better than the Nikon S9100- it was the worst camera of it's type I ever owned.<br ><br >Zoom on this camera is also the other main attraction, it's fast and relatively clear regardless of focal length.<br ><br >The disappointment is image noise. At full 100% crop, it is much noisier even at 100 iso than my 3 year old Fuji. Very disappointing in that regard. Am considering the Panasonic DMC-ZS15 if print quality on these images once I try it is too bad.

I purchased this to use for SCUBA diving, and it worked GREAT (housing required of course). The picture quality was amazing. The camera is easy to use and the zoom is quite impressive. You can even zoom while using the video feature.
