im going to make this review short, simple and effective.

Pros: Great remote interface, works with ipod touch/iphone, amazing sound and bass, looks amazing.

Cons: Remote is a little big but not that big of a deal, and if you dont buy it your not that smart.

Better than Bose

When I walked into the apple store, I just knew I was going to get a Bose system to play my ipod on and it sounded OK. But the George was displayed right next to it and the sound system blew Bose away. i also love that I can also listen to the radio as well with a mobile antennae. definitely money well spent

Great Sound And Control

The product is beautiful and most of all it has great and a descent bass compared to some ipod dock within it's price range. It has a good bass compared to the bose. The control is almost just like the ipod (Easy and portable). The only setback I have so far is the remote hangs-up sometimes when i browse especially setting up the alarm. And I hope they have hardware support especially for the remote(I browse a lot) And i hope they also supply batteries for the next 10 years........

George sounds great

sounds great, that's the most important thing. the remote is also way cool - i like to have shuffle on and sometimes just don't want a song so i skip it or i hear something and it reminds me of another song so i search to it and there it is - w/o having to get up! :)

Excellence in table radios

My wife and I love this system! Yes, we looked at and listened to ALL the different table radio models. First, the remote is genius, this piece alone makes the system. Second, audio quality is superb! No, it is not a high fidelity home theater or stereo system, it wasn't designed to replace those systems. It sounds better that most home-theater in a box systems (and you would have to spend a lot to beat the Chestnut Hill Sound George), and it's audio fidelity is much more than what you would expect from a table radio. The sound is very natural, weighty and deep were it needs to be, clear and detailed in the other areas (if your afraid that it will be too bright, see next--->>). Third, if you choose to do so, the adjustability (is that a word) of this system is fantastic. Make the system brighter, warmer, or softer, depending on where you place the system and what sounds best. Most table radios can't do this!!! Superior Sound

I have been listening to my "George" since I got it out of the box 10 hours ago. The ease of set-up and use is a breath of fresh air. Electronics aren't necessarily easy to set-up and get used to particular manufacturer's quirks.

George's set-up is logical and easy.

The features are dynamite. The alarm clock feature has more features than my old alarm clock that I just stored away.

George's sound is great and the remote is completely more functional both in readability and flexibility than any I've used.

I was hesitant to spend $500. on a small system since I already have a large one, but I can crank up George, and still not bug the neighbors while getting a great sound. I now know that because of its sound, portability, and versatility, I will be using George more than my component system.
I am very happy with this system.

Sounds great and works with my iPhone 3G

What a great audio system for iPhone! When you docket the iPhone with George, it will ask if you want to put it in Airplane mode or not. When not operating in Airplane mode, the iPhone can receive phone calls whild being docket on George. My out-of-the-box software version appears to be 2.05.

Customer rep I've been dealing with about iPhone compatibility have been very responsive. I love George's ability to update software/firmware via its USB port. Lots of technology in this audio system, and it probably won't be obsolete too soon due to it being upgradable.

I would like to see full and complete compatibility with iPhone 3G so that I can listen to Pandora, Last.fm, AOL Radio on the iPhone, however.

Great product!!

George is the Best Ever

I purchased this about 8 months ago -- and LOVE it!!! I am not literate when it comes to using remotes and it was easy for me to use the remote on George. I had just purchased my iPod, and since they both work basically the same, it was soooo easy. And the sound is GREAT. Then, just recently, I had a problem with it not synching my iPod. I emailed customer service and within 15 minutes I heard back from them. Their customer service is AMAZING. They did everything humanly possible to get George fixed for me, including having it shipped from Idaho to Boston and back on them -- WOW, if all customer service was like this!!!
I love my George and am excited that he is back for me to listen to. He is on continuously at my house. Thanks Chestnut Hill for making an amazing product and for such great customer service!

george is my favorite audio

i've been using a george for several months now, and have not been more impressed with an audio component for quite some time. i use it with my ipod, radio and even my xm unit (yes that can be done). i use it to wake up with, when i go to sleep and whenever i'm near it during the day. even my wife can use it easily. i'd highly recommend this in place of virtually any similar devices i've looked at. it's worth the price.

YOU HAVE TO GET ONE!

I was going to get a Bose instead of this but I'm glad I gave this a shot. I never thought I'd use this as much as I do. The sound is crystal clear and quite loud. I set the alarm to any song on my ipod-the remote is like having a wireless ipod-it does everything and it has a nice backlight-if you buy this you will not be the slightest disappointed. It really is a great product.

Easy to use, incredible sound

My whole family has enjoyed George - it's easy to use, the sound is amazing, and the remote intuitive and controls all functions. It was better than we expected and our only wish is that we had more for all the listeners in the house.

Great Product & Company

I've got nothing but good to say about this unit. The sound quality is great. I use the iPod interface, the AM/FM receiver, and have an XM-Radio plugged into the AUX input.

The user interface is easy and intuitive. And the system's firmware is upgradable via a USB interface to your Mac or Windows machine.

Lastly, customer service at Chestnut Hill Sound is great! One of my parrots chewed up the USB data cable. I emailed customer support, on a Sunday, and had a response back from a live person within 15 minutes. They replaced my data cable at no charge.

Bought it for my iPod, as an Alarm Clock as well as external speakers to watch movies from a Laptop. Works perfectly. Once had a question and got great and fast help from customer support. very happy...

George

I first read about the George in one of the MacWorld best of show reviews last year. At that time I was interested in the Bose iPOD player as well as the Apple system. After reading the review and raves from MacWorld I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did. First the fact that I have a remote with all the music on display like my iPOD at my fingertips is great. The great sound quality is the highlight of this system. Has the sound of a large system but the footprint of a small unit. The ease of switching iPODs is quick and fast. When my son comes over to visit he removes my iPOD and puts his on the dock and with a short time is playing his music.
Overall I'm very pleased with this unit. Everyone who sees it wants to know where they can get one. I highly recommend it to anyone considering the Apple and Bose alternative.

Outstanding Product

The George Speaker System is outstanding. Beautifully designed, excellent sound, a compact footprint, and an absolutely superb remote control -- one that provides all the information on the remote's display that is contained in your iiPod's display. CHS also indicates on their website that you will be able to "customize" the George this spring with different side panels and speaker grilles.

The only, and minor, problem I have experienced is that -- every once in a while -- there is a delay between the input on the remote and the actual action. So, I may ask the remote to do something, nothing happens, I then ask it again, and suddenly it does whatever action I have requested twice. But this happens only every once in a while, and is a fairly minor issue anyway.

Although the footprint is small, the sound can adequately fill a medium-sized room. Kudos to Chestnut Hill Sound -- a great product.

Spectacular, great-sounding, and beautifully designed!

GEORGE does things very differently from most iPod products. The beauty of the iPod is it's interface, and Chestnut Hill has spent a great deal of time thinking about how users interface with GEORGE. What they've come up with is elegant and allows a significant feature set while remaining elegantly simple to use.

In a brilliant touch, the controls can be removed from the radio and placed in a charging stand. In this configuration everything functions as before, only wirelessly. You can put the radio a distance away -- with your iPod mounted on top -- and have complete control of both GEORGE and the iPod from your nightstand.

The sound quality also differentiates this product. It does not try to hide or gloss over the fact that it is a small box by using electronic tricks. Instead, it packs the cleanest, tightest, and truest sound I've yet heard from a box of this size. The bass is tight and musical, without the BOSE tendency towards flatulent exaggeration.
