I am sure all identical speakers have the same power BUT not the sound effects. It all depends on the receiver they are equipped to.
My receiver, from what I think, delivers perfect sound/bass/treble to these speakers. I LOVE the way these speakers sounds. And it all is because of the receiver I have; I have set the frequence and bass to max and these speakers are roaring in the roam and EXTREMELY clear.

I have been an audiophile for more than 20 years. I have used and tested countless numbers of home audio gear product such as, speakers, amps, equalizers, sound processor and more.
I currently have a Yamaha RX-V661 Receiver running in Multi-channel mode. Front is powered by a Kenwood Basic M2A (220 Watts), Center, Presence, and Surround are powered by separate Kenwood M1A (105Watts) power amps. I have been shopping for speakers to replace the Sharp speakers that I was using for front. I am running Boston Acoustics for the Center, Presence, and Surround. I was looking at the Polk Audio S50, but every article that I read gave them poor reviews. So I kept looking until I ran across an ad in BestBuy Specials that listed these Sony speakers. I read all the reviews, and based on the reviews decided to give these a try. Okay to make this short and to the point. These speaker perform as stated in all the reviews. I cannot believe the clarity of these speakers. They blend good with the

The speakers were rec'd on the day I was told and in great condition. Hooked up same day and am very happy with them. They sound great and add to the listening pleasure. And, you cannot beat the price.

Not much to say. The speakers are great. The sound is crisp, the bass is rumbling and the highs crystal clear. Listening to Hendrix' Axis: Bold as Love and it sound fantastic. You can't beat these speakers for the money. BnB Beatles Depot

These Sony floorstanding speakers are very affordable. You can get a pair of them for $159.99. Most speakers you have to buy individually and are priced at $159.99 each. These speakers are a great bargain and can get the job done for the price that you are paying. They have a good amount of power for the price. The sound quality of the speakers are descent. If you wanted a speaker that had better sound quality you would be paying a lot more for it. I feel that these Sony speakers are a real bargain and worth giving a try. You can even give them a test at your local BB store.

I bought these to replace some beloved floor speakers that had grown a bit muddy over the last 16 years. My wife wanted smaller, but I convinced her that she would not be happy with an all-in-the-box system, since we listen to cd's with our system. These were about as big as she would allow and they had great reviews.
I was nervous about the smaller woofers and the very low price - how is it possible to get quality and power handling for $160? After setting them up, I was very impressed. They look right at home next to our 46" lcd and actually seem a bit more elegant then the last speakers we had. We put in a CARS dvd and cranked it up (a great CD at the beginning to check out power handling and surround). We were blown away - totally shocked. I did not think speakers at that price and with smaller woofers could sound that good.
Bravo to Sony.
If you are a normal listener, not a weird 'gotta get sick to think it sounds good' family, these speakers will be all

I just replaced my 36 year old Smaller Advent speakers (which were re-coned in '90 in case you were wondering how they lasted this long) because I just bought a new receiver to replace my 23 year old Optimus receiver which developed a buzzy hum after all of these years.
Now nothing was wrong with these Advents except the 4 ohm impedance was making the new receiver kinda hot (as they did with the Optimus) and they would click in the safety circuit if I tried to crank them on my new receiver. (Happened just once but that was enough). And besides, I wanted a change.
Now, you may say these Advents are a hard act to follow by the Sonys, and that is true. I was experiencing some 'buyer’s remorse’ at first. But as I experimented with these speakers through my EQ, I was able to mimic a highly similar effect as with the Advents. In fact, if you play around with the frequencies, the sound from these speakers can be astonishing despite their smallish size (for floor speakers that

I've had these speakers for at least two months, but up until about a week ago, they were in storage at a friend's house. Six days ago, I took them out of the box and hooked them to my decade-old Sony STR-AV210 stereo receiver. I listened to them hooked to this receiver for two days, then hooked them to a Sony STR-K700 for the next four days (the receiver which comes in a HT-DDW700 home theater in a box). For comparison, the STR-AV210 puts out 45 x 2 watts, while the STR-K700 puts out 85 x 2 watts at 0.7% THD (when in 2.1 sound output; the 5.1 configuration obviously puts out less power per speaker). Also, when hooked to the STR-K700, the speakers were accompanied by a Sony SA-W2500 10" powered subwoofer, since the crossover of that receiver is preset at what I believe to be 120 Hz.
First, I have pushed these speakers to levels high enough to cause me moderate discomfort at their volume, and have not noticed any audible distortion. The sound from these speakers is quite clean and

I have had no complaints at all about this. College student who wanted decent speakers for not a lot of cash. College students tend to go pretty hard on their stuff, but these have held up and held their own. Granted they will not hold up if you have Snoop Dogg drop in like in Old School (consult Speaker City for that), but these things look really clean and put out a great sound. I had it hooked up to our flat screen tv for extra sound quality from the tv, and it worked perfectly through the receiver. I would highly recommend these. I'm sure you can find better quality out there, but not for this price. Very happy with this purchase.

I just received these speakers and I love them. I also ordered a Sherwood 200 watt receiver. I have a 24x36 Family Room w/ a vaulted ceiling and a tile floor. Regular tv speakers just echoed in there, but these speakers w/ the built-in tweeters allow movies to be clear and the larger speaker produces pretty good base, enough to feel it in the floor. I am thinking of adding a self-powered sub just for the extra effect. Overall i would def. buy these speakers again. For the price they really are a bargain.

I bought these to add to my family room t.v. for those moments I just need to crank it up (music video, American Idol song, awards show, etc). They are hooked up to a Harmon Kardon receiver which is about 10 yrs old, but they get the job done. They definitely serve their purpose.

I bought these speakers on 4/17/09 and chose super saver (free) shipping to save 40 bucks. They shipped on 4/20/09, fedex overnight and I got them 4/21/09. That's fantastic! The speakers themselves were just the right hight for me and they sound fantastic, but also important to me was that I owned a 5.1 surround sound system with all black Sony speakers exactly like these - so everything matches perfectly. I can't say enough about the sound quality either. Music, sports, movies, everything sounds great and they accentuate the subwoofer quite well by spreading some of the bass around a bit. I would highly recommend these to anyone, even the price is right - two speakers for the price of one of some other brands.

I agree with previous favorable reviews. These speakers may not equal the sound quality of much more expensive models, but they come close enough to make the price difference to step up unreasonable for most people. The following review is intended for those trying to select between Sony models. In January 2008 I bought a pair of Sony SS-B3000 speakers from Amazon and was pleasantly surprised with their sound quality when use with a subwoofer and center channel speaker. I used them as floor standing speakers with homemade stands. Today I received a new pair of SSF-5000 speakers and I've spent over 4 hours doing A/B comparisons with the SS-B3000 units. My conclusion: the SSF-5000 wins out narrowly by placing the tweeters higher (closer to ear level). Otherwise, both excellent pairs of speakers produce similar sound: clear, crisp and with more volume capacity than my 18x30 ft. family room requires. I am particularly impressed with the tweeter quality during classical (Beethoven and Tchaikovsky)

I been waiting to write this until I got some use on 'em. Well. I was watching Jazz At Lincoln Center with Wynton Marsalis tonight and realized I had waited long enough. I am completely pleased with these speakers. For the price. I did not wait until the end of the program to write this review. The Jazz at Lincoln told me every thing I needed to know about these speakers. Sounds just great.
I listen to allot of Classical, even more Jazz and then Rock, Country and others. The violins, cellos, stand up base etc bring out the best in these speakers in my opinion. Vibes also.
Plenty of base ! Sounds great at low volume. I had it fairly low and my girl friend kept turning it down because of the excellent punch these speakers have. She loves Wynton so it isn't like she didn't want to hear more. I don't even have them hooked to the larger receiver that I bought to use with them. I bought these to use with my sherwood receiver, these are perfect speakers to chill and listen to music, also pretty good for movies. They do lack a little treb but it really some times depends on the receiver(my receiver is 50 per channel i think so thats probly why) the bass is pretty good as well they can make a few things rattle in my house, but if your looking for earth shaking bass GET A SUB, All and all these speakers have done their job, and still do ive had them for almost a year and a half now.

With only an 8" driver for the bass it can be a little disappointing without a powerful enough amp. I recently purchased a pair for a quick fix to replace a 25+ year old pair of Dahlquist monitors. Powered by a Denon amp, these actually have a surprising amount of bass although they lack a little bit in midrange presence. Only 88db sensitivity, but still efficient. With my amp, I actually can give myself a headache with the bass, but your mileage may vary.

I recently purchased a 50 inch Plasma TV and was using my older surround sound system with it.
Tho it was ok I just wasn't happy with the sound that I now had with such a great picture my Panisonic Plasma TV gave me.
So back to Best Buy I went.
I picked up a Sony STR-DG820 receiver, these speakers, and matched them all up with a Sony SAW2500 sub woofer and a Sony SSCN5000 center chanell speaker to keep evything on a equal par.
Took the new system home, pulled out the old surround sound system and set up the new system to my TV, combined with a pair of Bose speakers I recently purchased and set them up as my back speakers.
I followed tips from other reviews and tossed out the included speaker wire and opted for 16 ga. wire to get better sound.
I then used the automatic calibration system that comes with the Sony reciever, then plugged in a Iron Man Blu Ray on my Sony PS3 and WOW!
I was blown away. What a differance. Its better than what I remember from the sound

I have a 5.1 system with Infiniity speakers/ Onkyo receiver that was capable of 7.1, bought these to finally utilize the full system capabilities. Hooked them up with the supplied speaker wire, put the system through the auto set up mode and I'm not dissapointed at all. These Sony's compliment the other speakers very well. They may not do well as stand alones but can certainly hold their own as part of a complete system. Web site states that warranty is 1 year, paperwork in box looks like they have a 2 year warranty, kind of an added bonus.

So far these speakers have been great and I'm glad i added them to my home theater setup. The highs are crisp and clear with powerful mids. The bass may be fine if these are just being used for music but I highly recommend a subwoofer if adding these to a home theater. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

I bought these after several of the woofers in my 4 year old Wharfedale Floor speakers had finally blown. I know these don't cost nearly as much, but I was expecting to be satisfied compared to my old speakers, which were ancient, and contained multiple 5 1/4" drivers.
The first thing I noticed after hooking them up to my Harman Kardon AVR130 receiver is that there was NO BASS. None whatsoever. These have 8" woofers but where was the bass??? At first I thought I may have wired them up backwards. No such luck for me.
It's probably due partially to my room design, but the Athena AS-F1's I replaced them with sound PHENOMENAL in comparison to the Sony's. And, because I got them when Best Buy was clearancing them for the AS-F1.2's, they were not even twice the price. I find it interesting that the Athenas also have 8" woofers, and are rated only 5hz lower in bass response than the Sony's, yet the Sony's don't produce any. Even towers with smaller main woofers seemed to have more

I bought these speakers along with Sony's center channel speaker. And I have to say wow!!! I can hear a lot more detail in my movies. Especially in the mid to high range. With only having an 8 inch woofer, the bass will not shatter any windows, but it is not bad. To get the true surround sound, you will need a subwoofer. Overall, I am very happy with them and would recommend them to anyone who wants good sound. And is on a budget.

This review is coming from an audiophile. These are not audiophile grade speakers, but for the price these speakers are an absolute godsend.
They produce a nice full range of sound, a little weak on the low end, but that can be fixed with a subwoofer, or placing the speakers in the corners of a room.
The sensitivity of these speakers is also low compared to some other floorstanding speakers out there. For those of you out there who do not know what the sensitivity rating is, basically the higher the rating the louder they can play using less wattage. So I had to boost the power going to these to match the rest of my speakers. This shouldnt be a problem for the majority of you.
I am using these in my home theater room. They create a very big sound and get the job done better than any bookshelf speakers that ive heard.
Bottom line: Buy these speakers if you are looking for a good full sound at a reasonable price.

Sony Has suprised me once again, As a musician I always look for products that would satify both my music and senses. Sony and i go back almost 10 yrs and as their are many other companys that have exceptional products and can prob by pass sony in some levels i would still hold them at a high level.

I needed a new pair of speakers for a room I just wired to my stereo but I didn't want to spend a lot. This was not a home theater or primary music room and I just wanted nice background music for this room. I bought these Sony speakers exclusively because the price was right.
What I got was a surprisingly nice sounding pair of speakers. Really excellent high frequencies and all important mid-range. The bass is a little unrestrained and lacks the tightness of a sealed enclosure, but it's adequate for balanced listening. The in-line speaker arrangement delivers great stereo separation and imaging.
The bass port (hole you see neat the bottom in the picture) is designed to allow the big 8 inch woofer plenty of air to travel without creating a vacuum. If you listen to music with the bass cranked up, this is an inexpensive way to get some serious volume without a lot of amplifier. With a better amplifier you will need to adjust or equalize the tone to get a natural sound.

I got these speakers as my fronts to replace the lame stock ones that came with my reciever. They give a much richer deeper sound. Yes they are not the same as the 1000 dollar range speakers, but to be realistic this is a great pair to buy for movies and music. I can get much higher sound at a lower volume. It gives a decent amount of bass, and they are very clear. Keep in mind you need to move speakers around a bit and adjust the settings to get the best sound from any speakers. I am considering getting another pair for my surrounds haha. All I need now is the center speaker from this series and I'll be set. Oh and another set of these towers for my surrounds :)

These sony speakers sound amazing for the money, crisp highs and very decent bass they thump real good with the right music. They also look very nice imo, for the price nothing out there can touch them. Overall i'm extremely happy with these speakers and would recommend them to anyone looking for some new speakers at a great price. Way to go sony you got a winner here.

First off, these speakers are nice because you can buy them as a pair. Just about every other floor standing speaker you'll find has to be bought separately. So, this means that these speakers will cost you less. Also, I thought the low price would mean they sounded terrible, but I found that the sound quality is great for the price that you pay. Sure, these speakers can't compare to the high end speakers, but for most people they will have no complaints. One thing that could benefit these speakers is a subwoofer, but that is entirely up to the individual. Overall, it's a smart purchase and I would recommend it to anyone.

I just bought these speakers a couple days ago. The sales guy talked me into buying some speaker cables and the banana plugs, and the checkout guy talked me into purchasing Best Buy's warranty, so I kinda went overboard. These speakers sound amazingly awesome for the money. However, like most electronics, these speakers do need time to warm up before they really get going. Many people wrote that a subwoofer is also needed to get that heart-thumping bass, but I find that these speakers perform very nicely with/without the subwoofer. I guess it depends on what mood you're in.
I suggest purchasing a pair. They meet all expectations at this price point.

I purchased these speakers from Vanns (an Amazon partner) a couple of months ago for the unbelievable price of $ 99.00...yes the price has gone up, probably for a reason. These are excellent speakers. I use it for my HDTV entertainment system as my front speakers. I have a Yamaha Sub Woofer as well. My impressions are that these are the best speakers on the market for anything under $ 300; at least the ones that I've listened to. They are truly full range speakers producing excellent treble, mid-range and bass (bass is excellent, but I would still add a sub to really rock the room). The black finish matches everything else I have for my entertainment center (including the Yamaha sub). It produces a rich full sound even when cranked up enough to shake the room (neighborhood). I'm using 14 gauge wiring instead of the 20 it comes with because frankly, it can handle it. Be aware that these are pretty large speakers (over 3' high) so they are true floor speakers, you won't be able to

I have an older yamaha 5.1 set up at the house. Nothing fancy at all. These speakers add a nice kick to the system and also a more sophisticated look. I am very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend to anyone that doesn't have the budget to spend $500.00 or more for some speakers.

At less than $50 each I was not expecting a whole lot of performance, but I was pleasantly surprised. These speakers will really put it out there. They are small enough to fit into any size room yet are very impressive to look at. Driven by a Sony stereo receiver (125W X 2)they will fill even a large room with superb sound. They would make a great rear channel in a surround system. Firm base (without "booming"), clean midrange and very crisp highs, what more could you want!

Well I'm not an audiophile, but this definitely beats my 30 year old 2-ways, weighs less and cost about the same as I paid back then.
Hard to see how anyone could be disappointed.

Im giving this 5 stars because Im rating it for what it is. They are economically priced speakers that deliver excellect sound for the value. Compared to the Klipsch speakers they don't have the same quality of sound, but then again, you have to pay substantially more for those.
They are great for music, games, and movies. I highly recommend these speakers if you don't want to spend a lot of money and still get great sound.

I’m very happy with these speakers. I was using 2 shelf speakers and a sub for a 2.1 setup but the sub crapped out and I was never happy with the sound. I think the shelf speakers had too much bass which conflicted with the sub and they never sounded good together.
In an effort to simplify my setup I decided to ditch the sub and shelf speakers for a simple pair of floor speakers and a 2.0 arrangement (I’m too lazy to run cable for a 5.1). I bought these purely based on the user reviews and I’m really stoked about them.
I watch movies, play Xbox and listen to lots of music on my system but not at a high volume. I have no idea how these sound if you crank them way up because I advocate reasonable volume levels in order to protect hearing. At a reasonable volume these speakers have strong bass, nice mid and clear highs.
For a buck fifty you can beat them.

i honestly just hooked these up 20 minutes before writing this review and already im impressed. currently playing some dave matthews band and it sounds amazing. for the price you cant go wrong, ive never been a big fan of sony due to complications to a receiver i purchased awhile back but these speakers make up for it. im running the pioneer vsx-917v for power now and it brings the best out of the sonys. they handle some volume as well. very pleased. do recommend you run with a sub,and may i suggest the kilpsch 12" 650watt ;-)

The look, sound and fuction of these are the best I've owned to date. Prize was a no-brainer. I listened to music (jazz, classical, and old school R&B), I was amazed at the wonderful highs and strong lows. I heard things I had not heard before. But the best was yet to come, movies. I have a 5.1 setup and not until I combined these with my Klipsch center and front speakers did I understand what true 5.1 should sound like.
Do yourself a favor, when these are available, get a set you'll be glad you did.

I purchased Sony speakers from Best Buy in Clarence, NY. I had just bought a 50" LG Plasma TV and it is gloss black and on a black stand, and I had these huge Pioneer light wood speakers. They had good sound, but were 20 years old and I know I didn't spend a ton of money on them. So I was mainly looking for speakers that would look good and not take up so much space. I was pleasantly suprised at the Quality of the speaker and was very happy with the sound. My stereo is not the greatest surround system, it was an inexpensive Sony 12 years ago, (not a 5.1 system), so these speakers were a perfect match. I really don't listen to music very much, but the sound when watching an HD broadcast on TV is fantastic. People can't believe how cheap they were when they hear them.

I bought these speekers because I wanted a good Home Theater system without braking the bank. I got 4 (two pair) for under $300.00. They are definitely not the best speekers made. But for one fourth the cost of the best. They're a great deal. Very crisp, clean sound. Good bass and treble. Not as loud as some speekers I've owned. But I didn't expect that. I've been a professional DJ for about 30 years. So I know a good speeker from a bad speeker. And I know a good deal from a bad deal. In my carrier I've owned countless speekers. Both pro and home. And considering the cost.....This is as good of a "Speeker for the money" I've bought. If you don't need a pro sound (AKA Bumping loud, fill a huge room sound). This is as good of a speeker deal as I've found.

These are the speakers I use to listen to music, play videogames, and watch movies. Speakers are very important & not many brands out there come close to the performance of these speakers for the price range. The bass is full & clean. The 3-way design makes highs & vocals crisp and clear. All types of music comes out very impressive. Sony made a clean design with these speakers. The size is good because it doesn't take too much space. The one thing you'll notice 1st is the big quality sound. I am very happy with my purchase & you will be too.

After receiving a new 50” plasma TV and Blu-Ray player for Christmas, it was time to make the old TV room into a theater…I knew that I needed to replace my oversized KLM bookshelf speakers with some real sound…but, I wanted to keep the price reasonable. Besides, the room is 17x11 so I didn’t need anything too big.
I started my research online and came across these speakers. Many of the reviewers noted lack of bass but I think that everyone, like me, had one in their arsenal. Mine is an 8” Sony that has plenty of kick for this space and probably a whole lot more. Of course, I wanted to hear them so I headed off to Best Buy, where my wife bought my new equipment.
In the set up that BB has at the store I visited, these speakers are next to some JBLs (3-way Stage) and Klipsch (not sure which model). The Sony’s really don’t stand a chance next to these guys and I almost walked away. But after the sale rep left I opened the cabinet and tweaked

I am one hundred percent satisfied with these speakers. They are being powered by a sony str445 receiver (80 watts per channel) and I am absolutely thrilled with their performance. They have excellent bass response and lend themselves well to movie soundtracks as well as guitar hero/rock band parties. However be sure to use adequate wire diameter when hooking these up. They come with wire but it is very small (24 gauge or so). I am using 14 gauge, which according to various resources (crutchfield faqs and such), is ample size for that wattage.

I'm an average user, and needed new Surround Sound speakers, but I didn't want to break the bank. After careful consideration, I found here at B&H the following set-up:Sony SSF-5000 floor speakersSony SS-CR3000 center and rear speakers, andSony SA-W2500 subwooferYou could pay a lot more for big name speakers than the $500 these Sony speakers will cost at B&H, but you would be wasting your money. I am very happy with this purchase, and for me, that's saying something!

this is a great speaker for the price that you pay the sound is crisp and clear on music and movies they are great on a suround sound system when you use them as (front) speakers. there sound just gets better when you order the hole bravia packeg which has a center speaker suround and sub all of them togethers is very inpresive.

I compare this speakers with equivalent JBL, Klipsch and others and they sound as Good with a much better price. Will recomend to add a SUB to your set for better BASS.

I bought these at Best Buy based on the reviews at Best Buy.com. I am using them for audio system only. Hooked to Yamaha receiver. Giving me all my Yamaha can dish out. Which is more than my 17 x 17 living room can take. Clear, crisp reproduction. Plenty of bass for this large room, will rattle the windows in our 100 year old house. My wife actually prefers the taller, thinner black to the older woodtone we had before. You will be doing yourself a favor if you give these speakers a try.

I bought a pair of these for my brother-in-law for his b-day.. I was expecting OK quality, as I've always heard sony doesn't make very good speakers.. lets just say i was wrong. You can blast the heck out of these things with almost no distortion.. enough power to wake up your neighbors 2 floors above you. Sound is very clear and crisp with plenty of bass. I liked em so much I ordered a pair for myself when I got home. Best $150 I've ever spent.

I bought these speakers to replace an older pair that had run their course. I paid more for the others and these are better speakers. They may not have every feature that the high end speakers have, but if you are deciding between these sony's and a more expensive brand I am going to bet that if you pay twice as much for the others they won't be twice as good. If you have a subwoofer the bass isn't even a problem.

These Sony speakers are just the right price and sound just like the way more expensive ones. You can have the look of them covered or without to show the woofers, great look. Play some Led Zeppelin on them and judge for yourself. They sound way better than my surround sound system I had and cost much less. Turn em up and rock out

Let me just say these speakers are an incredible deal. I purchased a pair to use as rear speakers, as I already have very large front channel speakers. I am very happy with the frequency range and clarity of these speakers. They really completed the soundscape I was looking for. I would recommend these speakers to anyone especially for surround purposes.

I own two sets of these speakers, love them. Great clean sound. Good for games, movies, and even tv.
The bass is there and better then the subwoofer that I commented on from Sony but still a good floor speaker.

I just baught these speakers a few months ago, and they are really awesome for the price you pay. The only down side on them is they dont really kick like I would like, but over all they do sound good. To make your system maybe a little better, adding a sub may help. But overall, I really reccomend these speakers.

I purchased these for my basement to hook up to my Sonos system. I really didn't need to spend tons of money on a pair as these were simply for parties (ie. background music) and not for "listening sessions." But I was blown away. They are not only perfect for cranking loud dance music, but I have also thrown some jazz and classical at them and they are extremely clear and balanced. Just how I like my music to sound. They don't thump, but in my opinion, a pair of speakers like this shouldn't.
I highly recommend these. Take your time and listen to some other high end floors and you will come back to these and wonder why they are priced so low.

I bought these to replace a 20 year old pair of front channel speakers on my theater set-up. I chose them for two main reasons: a) the Sony name b) they had 8" woofers like the speakers I replaced. The sound quailty is clear across the whole range. The treble is crystaline, and the bass is not even remotely muddy. The only drawback is that the bass does not have as much punch as my old speakers did, and sometimes it gets a little burried behind the mid-range. I've never needed a sub hooked up to this particular system, but I am considering purchasing one to get that punch back. The speakers also have a very focused "sweet spot." This means that they are great for a home theater set-up. If you are looking for something that will fill a larger room with sound from your CD player, you may want to keep looking as there is a considerable difference if you venture too far outside of the "sweet spot." Overall, though, for a home theater set-up, these are great front channel speakers for the p

The speakers look and sound great. They are plenty loud and powerful. For the money, you can't go wrong with these. They can handle a lot of volume without sacrificing sound quality.

A couple months ago, I decided my replace my aging Sony cube speakers with a mid-to-upper range system. I walked into Best Buy with the mindset that I needed JBL's. I started listening to them and was impressed but started thinking about the amount of money it was going to cost. I started looking at other options and these Sony's were next to them. A buddy and I swapped back and forth from the Sony's and the JBLs, which cost 2-3 times more. Neither one of us could figure out a difference. I actually found the Sony's to give a fuller sound. Needless to say, I walked out with a pair and have not though twice about it. The money I saved allowed me to upgrade my center speaker which is also a Sony.

My Father In Law was wanting a pair of speakers, so being the audiophile that I am he wanted my assistance. So, after driving to several local areas to compare quality and performance. We came back to Best Buy and purchased this pair. Extremely satisfied. In fact these will be the ones I will purchase in the near future for my personal use.

We received these speakers as a gift and they are totally awesome. We enjoyed them so much that we are adding to this set with a front speaker and two bookshelf speakers to create our own surround sound.

This set of floor speakers is actually quite powerful and robust. When searching for a set of floor speakers, I wanted something that'd work well, but that was relatively cheap. Since I didn't feel like paying up to $1,200 for floor speakers, this was a reasonable alternative. When I set them up and lit them off for the first time, I was impressed. While the bass is not earth-shattering, it is sufficient. Feel free to crank the volume without fear of loss of tone or sound quality, because they can handle it. So for personal use and small parties, I would strongly recommend considering these floor speakers.

Forget all other audio companies. Sony will always have the highest quality products for the best prices. 3 foot high towers for $50 each??? They must be pretty mediocre right? Wrong. These speakers are wonderful.
They have a full, bright sound and can get as loud as you possibly want (and louder) if you have a decent receiver. There is a great distinction between the tweeter, mid and sub. These are the best speakers I have ever owned.
The only thing wrong with them is if you love extreme, rumbling bass, they might not meet your standards. But a good active sub woofer is a must for any good sound system anyway.
