I bought one of these and had the problem where it would not read the disc, so I returned it and got another one. This one had the same exact problem. I recommend that you do not buy this product. JVC's customer support wanted me to pay to ship this to them so they could take a look at it. I returned the second one and will not buy a JVC share station again.

First unit I purchased was defective in that it would not recognize a disk. I purchased a second unit and had the same problem. When I contacted JVC they told me they were having quality problems with the unit. I would not reccommend purchasing this product.

We bought this for our physical education classes and it worked fine, but there was one major flaw. It is quick and simple, and easy to do. However, if you're interested in this, be very careful about the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R. This will ONLY use DVD-R discs, and that format does not work in anything we have, so for us, it is basically useless. Our computers don't read DVD-R, three brands of DVD players don't read DVD-R, but this product will only use DVD-R discs, which will not play in anything we have. If you have a DVD player that will read DVD-R discs, then it should work just fine. But all our computers, burners, and players will only read DVD+R, and this product does not use DVD+R discs.

I have had the Everio G for a year now. I had tried many ways to figure out how to get my movies on CD. I asked around, people kept on shrugging their shoulders and giving me lousy answers.
Here is the correct answer for the Everio, get the share station. It is really cool. You just edit your movies on the camera or on the computer and send it to this burner.
You have a couple of options. One is that you can plug the burner into the camera and burn movies from that device. The other option is that you can plug it into the computer.
It is very quiet. I was nervous that it was not working because it was so quiet, but it works like a charm. I would recomment CD's that have CD-R on them because these work best.

I'm not sure why everybody is complaining. This device works perfectly in the way it supposed to! Its task is creating backup copies of your footage from 60Gb GZ-HD7 hard drive. The unit is very reliable, works in tandem with the camera which allows select shots and combine them.
You don't have have to have it as Everio offers many ways to backup the footage, but this is one of them. As the description states it is not designed for making DVDs to watch. For making DVDs connect your Everio GZ-HD7 to general DVD recorder with audio-video interfaces. This unit connects to camcorder via USB. I am very happy with this my purchase!
