I used this garmin right out of the box for a cross country trip from Alabama to Wyoming and found it very useful. It allowed me to be aware of many museums and local restaurants along the way. Visiting some of these "finds" made the trip outstanding.

Great piece of equipment! For the price there is no better piece of equipment around! I highly would suggest it to all of those looking for a gps unit.

I have used many GPS's in the past. However, the NUVI 670 really shines. It is easy to see, voice is easy to follow and it has a lot of usefull features like: Money convert, Audio Books, different views, etc. I picked this one becuase it came packaged with USA and European maps. Using it in France was great. Being in a foreign country and having something as powerful as this product really helped make my trip go smooth. I never got lost! I uesed the product everyday.

The Garmin 670 is extremely simple to use. While the menus are laid out in a logical fashion, unless you use them often (and I do not), when you need to find a feature, it often takes some time to figure out how to tweak the unit. That said, as long as you remember that you can always back out of menus and will never cause harm to the unit by selecting the "wrong options", moving around the menu system is fine. I cannot imagine a more user-friendly system, even after having tried other manufacturers' units.
Before buying this unit, I had used a smaller Garmin with voice output and had appreciated the way it worked. Since my ownership of this unit, I have identified a few weaknesses that should be mentioned. First, the FM traffic information is relatively poor, even in a large city like Los Angeles. Another issue (and this is more a matter of mapping software imperfections), the unit bases route selection on an algorithm involving both road size and shortest distance. In several instances,

The Garmin NUVI 670 is a nicely packaged GPS unit. With his unit I was able to determine shortcuts to destinations that I had previously visited and now get there in less time. The accuracy of the time t destination is very good.
The bluetooth function on the 670 works seamlessly with my Treo 650. and I hav talked/called through my 670 on numerous occasions.
I like having the rechargeable batter optin an have taken my 670 on hikes not only to listen to an audiobook, but also to navigate by hiking. Soon I'll be using this item on a regular trip to Romania.
Probably my only negative comment is the sound quality through my car's speaker system-I have to increase the volume on my radio to hear the directions recommended by the 670.
I've ownedGPS products from Garmin and this unit is the best so far!

A best buy in full-feature "pocket" GPS navigation systems. It just seems to tell you everything you ask of it: What's the address? What kind of restaurant? What hotel? How much farther? When will we get there? Are we there yet? All based on your continually recalculated rate of progress. Wow!
Very helpful: voice tells you not just where and when to turn, but AFTER you turn, how far and in which direction is the NEXT turn. A great safety issue in an unfamiliar area, especially in heavy traffic.
One bit negative: "detour" info isn't necessarily accurate or up-to-date, but then neither are DOT broadcasts.
I've already enthusiastically recommended NUVI 670 to several friends.

We bought the Nuvi 670 after doing a lot of homework that included hands-on testing at the local electronics chain store. It is extremely easy to use and hasn't failed to get me to my destination during the three weeks that I have been using it. I haven't had the chance to use it in Europe yet, but happily paid slightly more for this model because it came equipped the maps of Europe in addition to the maps of North America.

After extensive research I settled on a Nuvi 670 over Tom Tom and other solutions. I wanted the 670 as I do a respectible amount of interntional travel, and this model has the European maps bundled. I also wanted a Bluetooth interface for my phones.
I'll have a better view of how good the european maps are in a couple of weeks when I take my trip to Brussels, Belgium
So far:
Routing - No compalint. I upgraded(free) the 2007 US maps and use it everyday (why?). Since the 670 comes with traffic allerts I can quickly reroute between home and office if I need to; either automatically or manually. I've used it in Hawaii (2week vacation) and the routes are it selects are quite reasonable.
Bluetooth - Excellent...does the job..clear voice and decent speakers. I'd like to see it handle multiple phones a little better as I carry two with me.
Screen quality - In the sun and at night very visible.
User interface - Very good. One thing that pains me is the simple fact that if you switch between to

This was an addition to my trusted Garmin eMap. I purchase the Garmin Nüvi 670 because I wanted to stop paying a daily fee to U.S. car rental companies for installed GPS systems (the eMap does not do street navigation instructions) , and the fact that we are taking trips to Europe early next year and I wanted a walk-around street guide GPS for mainly Paris and Berlin.
The Nüvi 670 was received November 1st and I immediately went to the Garmin web site for registration and updates (there were some). After local get-acquainted and try-out use, the first real test was on November 11th when we flew down to Miami and drove to a week long holiday in Key West.
Admittedly a simple trip for a GPS but it was important that the Nüvi 670 worked out-of-the-box as advertised. On the way back there was a serious freeway back-up about thirty miles from the Miami airport. This was the first opportunity to use what is now my favorite urban-area feature of the Nüvi 670, the Detour function. The Nüvi 670 quickly

This is one the most useful purchases I have made in a long time. Travel in the US and Europe is now stress free. There is no need for maps, no need for directions from gas stations or people who do not speak english. I recommend this unit to anyone who travels in the US and Europe. One of the best investments you will ever make.

I used this right our of the box for a 700 mile trip. It is very intuitive and easy to use. The travel and bluetooth functions are very handy. I was blown away when it told me to take a route that didn't make any sense. I ignored it and found myself in a traffic jam a few minutes later. It tried to help me avoid the jam!
Unit does not provide lat and long or compass heading in degrees which would be helpful at times.

I bought this GPS device to replace my TomTom Navigator that runs on my Palm TX, which is no longer supported and the maps can't be updated.
The maps and the POI's in the Nuvi 670 are up to date, which I like. There's nothing worse than choosing a restaurant in another city and it not been there.
I travel to Canada and Europe occasionaly so I appreciate the 670 having maps to cover these areas. I like the the spoken directions that include the street names. The traffic warnings work, although when travelling on the interstate the alternative route can be longer...
The Nuvi 670 is easy to use, partly because it has fewer customization choices than other devices. Overall, it works well, and I would recommend it.

Excellent choice.

I am very impressed with the Garmin 670. I took it on a recent trip to the middle of nowhere in Holland and could not have gotten around without it. Everyone was surprised at how accurate and complete the maps were. Several people had used other devices that could not compete. I have a GPS on my phone (with voice directions) which works very well, but the screen size on the Garmin made that preferred over the phone.
It is very easy to use without needing to read the manual. The smart type feature was very much appreciated. Some Dutch locations consist of loooong words, that I didn't need to completely type in! Voice directions are easily understood, and the battery life was great. The AC plug comes with adapters, which was very convenient. Initial synching with my phone was flawless, but I could not resynch after that initial transfer. I don't know if it is the device or my phone (I suspect the phone).
I did notice that the device needs to be very far forward on the dash to get its initial

We purchased this unit for local navigation as well as for use during an upcoming trip to Italy. I can't say how it will work in Europe but it is very accurate and easy to use in Missouri. The blue tooth phone feature is really nice, safe and simple to use. I use it exclusively for telephone calls while in the car and have used it as a speakerphone in the house. The only thing that didn't work very well was the dash mount disc. The sticky pad did not hold up and I have to use the windshield mount. The unit itself is great. The price is a little high so I don't know anything about cheaper models. I do know that friends who have purchased $250 dollar models of non-garmin units believe mine to be much easier to use.

Very nice navigation system...easy to use...I have been using it without reading any instructions. The screen is great...I can see it even when there is a lot of sun. The bluetooth feature would make it freeze but I called Garmin's customer support and they walked me through updating the software and it works great. The only thing that I think that they can improve on is the voice as it is not the most pleasant one that I have heard. You may also be interested in buying the friction mount if you will be using it in a minivan or car with a windshield that is deep since it is hard to keep sticking the suction cup mount on everytime you want to use it.

It's amazing to get a piece of leading edge technology that works the way it's suppose to! I was impressed from the moment I turned the unit on. My friends are as amazed as I that the unit acquires a good sattelite signal while indoors. It worked fantasticly in Europe in pedestrian mode and makes getting around a lot of fun and naturally, Overstock made it well worth the purchase with their pricing policies.

Garmin has developed the perfect GPS system for those who travel to Europe a lot. I have not had a chance to use it there yet, but around home, it has been extremely useful and deadly accurate. Highly recommended and packed with features.

Top of the line GPS! Only real problem with the NUVI line from Garmin is that you cannot customize a route with stops on your computer and then upload it to the GPS/Nuvi.
You can't even add "waypoints" with your computer since they don't give you the computer version of the software (Mapsource) only the GPS version.
But Overstock pricing took a little bite out of the shortcomings.

Haven't used the product for long, but besides good routing, here are a few things I found amazing:
1) It worked well in the woods: kept us from getting lost while frolicking in a state park on Cape Cod! Seems like every path that has a name is in its database; and the precision is < 10 feet, as advertized.
2) In preparation to a trip to Greece we used it to find all the places of interests -- must be a breeze to navigate there. So, if you ever travel to Europe, do yourself a favor and get Nuvi 670 -- if you use the European maps at least once, it will pay off.
3) Very good quality speakers for a device this small.
A few minuses:
1) Does not seem to work well in Downtown Boston -- but then, nothing does.
2) FM transmitter is not good
3) JPEG viewer does not scale the pictures properly -- as nonessential as it is.
One funny thing:
The speech synthesizer seems to use third party software: it says "Storrow Doctor" instead of "Storrow Drive". Will Garmin take a note that Dr. usually means "Drive"
