Easy set up and yes it does have a tuner.

I spent months trying to find a VCR/DVD combo with a tuner that didn't cost more than my tv. 3 months on-line. Buying on line was hard because many nits claim to have a tuner, but a picture tells me what I need to know--Is there a button to change the channel on the front? That confirmed the tuner claim. Out of the box. I didn't even read the manual. One cord connection to cable. Plug it up. Menu-set the time, channel setup done. Put a tape it in. Watching my soaps--then I got the manual for the tracking instructions.Less than 8 minutes. Bought a brand new DVD put it in. Plays perfectly.
Con: I prefer to not have the time/channel display on my screen and pressing display shows the count on the box if a tape is in. Also does not tell how much time is left on tape. That's why I gave it 3 stars for features.
