NIKON D5100 16MP Digital SLR Camera

This is my first DSLR camera...I have had so many point and shoots and I finally decided to take it to the next level and I chose this camera. I love everything about it and I have so much more to learn!

I upgraded from my Nikon D40 to the Nikon D5100. This camera is awesome. I love taking pictures and this makes me want to take more. I bought a screen protector to prevent scratches on the screen if I don't rotate it in every time. It has great sound quality for videos No disappointments.

Typical of Nikon's quality products in photography. Many accessories and lenses available, and good technical literature and instructions.<br />I highly recommend the 5100.

Awesome. Amazing camera. Wasent sure if i would be able to use all the features or if i would become overwhelmed, but was able to quickly learn all the tricks!! Love this camera!!!!

User manual is ok, but I recommend purchasing the Nikon bag with the Nikon School video. It is a good bag and the video is very helpful, or just get the video.

Highly recommended for a DSLR camera, lightweight, and efficient. Picture quality and color clarity is fantastic. Did a ton of research prior to purchase. Will add to lens collection over time but this is everything you need for a photography hobby.

This is my second Nikon. I started with the D60 about 4 years ago but decided to upgrade to the D5100 for its HD movie and night vision and Im glad I did. The D60 was a great introduction into DSLR photography and I sold it for a decent price to acquire the D5100. The photos Ive taken with the D5100 are clear and sharp and Im sure the more I use it , the more I will discover what an awesome camera it is. I originally looked to Ebay to buy a used D5100 but when I compared prices with what they were selling for on Ebay and then buying a new one from Best Buy, the choice was clear. It was better to just buy a new one. Best Buy has lived up to their name and clearly had the best buy.

This is such a great camera for the money. The processor is equivalent to the higher end Nikons. We upgraded from the D40 - which was a great beginner / family unit. Definitely worth every penny. Initially looked at the 5200. There was less use for the flip out screen when compared to the processor and other features.

I received this camera for Christmas and I love it! Great for photography and videography, this camera is so easy to use and very versatile. Also, the flipping screen on the camera is very useful for viewing and storage. Furthermore, it can be used with accessories such as an external microphone, flash, or GPS receiver. This camera is excellent!

The D5100 is an awesome camera, that can also take HD video. We are expecting our second child soon and wish we would have found this camera before our first was born. No need to drag around a camera and camcorder to capture those &quot;can't miss&quot; moments.

I bought this camera to take pictures. I have had professional training with photography as a part of my commercial art degree. I bought this camera to have at special occasions and vacations. This camera is the best purchase I have made. One reason for this particular model was for low light capabilities and video. Took this to Disney World and was able to get every shot I wanted. Even videoed the night parade with ease. This video came out great and in commercial quality. One thing I would suggest is a mono pod and a tri-pod depending on what you are shooting. The VR works very well as well. Nikon makes great stuff including optics. I had a hard choice between this and the Cannon. After much research I found that the low lighting and video recording was far suporior to the Cannon model.

I bought this camera for my wife since she has wanted a dslr camera for years and she is loving it. Has been taking some photography classes and is taking some great photos of our family!

I purchased this camera on sale after black Friday after returning a faily expensive point and shoot camera. I was not happy with the pictures I was getting, blurry, always needed a flash and the flash looked terrible etc. I was very happy I returned it and spent alittle more on this camera. I still use the kit lens that came with it and am more than pleased. After reading through the manual I want out and shot some photos and it's just amazing how high quality they are. Even when I am just holding the camera up with no tripod I get very sharp photos with bright vivid color. If I'm not sitting perfectly still the vibration reuction on the lens seems to do a great job. The flash works very well and the camera uses it very well, none of my photos taken with a flash are overly bright or anything like that, the pictures come out well lit and nice. I have taken pictures of my animals running around and it gets great action shots of them, with very good detail.

Great camera bought it to start working as a night club photographer and for food and drink shots and I couldn't be happier I don't plan on making this my main source of money so this equipment gets the job done at a reasonable price... But for night club shots I do recommend the 35mm dx prime lens and the sb700 flash to go with it...

I have always loved Nikon cameras and admittedly I did not compare this to Canons. I had a Nikon 8008 SLR and loved it (and wanted to use those lenses). I have also had multiple Coolpix cameras. I have never had one I didn't like but admittedly I have always liked the Nikon menus. I debated the long zoom SLRs but really like the interchangeable lens and flexibility of DSLRs. This camera is a tad loud for wildlife, although I am just learning to play with the quiet shutter feature but it doesn't seem much quieter. This camera is awesome, I don't know if I will ever know how to use all of it but my wife and I are trying. If you want an extremely impressive DSLR that makes you feel like a pro and gives pictures that make others think you are a pro, go for it.
