This is just a small warning before buying this game. My husband recently got this game for the PS3, we installed it and had been playing it for several hours but when we turned the system off and back on the message 'data corrupt must restore hard drive' greeted us. This game ruined our hard drive. We don't play a lot of games or 'hack' into our system and when we phoned the game store they said they had 5 other people call in recently. I wish they told us before we bought this game.
So there's a warning to you guys, the game is good - if you can get it to play. After reading forums some people say the game only freezes or stops their console from reading discs any more. By the way, Xbox 360 also has similar problems.

Nowadays in gaming for a verification of quality all I have to do is look for the little R* symbol on the bottom right hand corner of a game box, and automatically I know I'm in for a heckuva ride. So naturally I approached GTA 4 with a built in optimism, and I'm happy to report said optimism is still, after all these years, greatly justified.
I think the thing which makes me leap towards all of R*'s titles is the promise of a game possessing a new a unique storyline with the characters to match, and GTA 4 delivers that in spades. In the past the protagonists of each of the GTA games have been cold (Claude in GTA III), ruthless (Toni Cipriani in LCS), hypocritical (Vic Vance in VCS), Twisted (Tommy Vercetti in Vice City), and even sympathetic (CJ in San Andreas) but in the case of newcomer Nikolai 'Niko' Bellic we have a character who is quite tragic and surprisingly endearing whose motives and actions are wholly justified by the knowledge that he is a man with a past which has been tarnished

Ok, I know that GTA IV is the big thing out at the moment, and some of the praisers are fanboys (what franchise doesn't have them though?), but this is seriously a great game. I have found that there is merit to both favorable and unfavorable reviews, but overall it is a very enjoyable experience.
If you've played and even remotely liked GTA before, the review ends here. Go out and buy this game immediately. If not, you probably have a pretty good idea of what to expect, so here are some points to consider:
First, the graphics do indeed suffer a bit, along with the framerate, especially noticeable at high driving speed. The game runs natively at 640p so upscaling to 720p would probably be your best bet. Often the game is pretty dark, and changing the brightness/contrast only helps a little.
Some people complain the gameplay can be repetitive. Yes the missions generally involve the same common themes like playing hitman or delivery man, but I guarantee you, you will never experience the
