Don't know if it is the fault of the transmitter or the fact that there are no free stations in our radio area, but there is flip-off of the music at random and lots of static. Clarity is definitely an issue. We will keep trying as the concept of using the connection to car of the ear-piece plug is very appealing - less fragile.

I think FM transmitters are a crap shoot. Some will work better in certain cars and certain areas. This one did not work well for me (04 Mustang, South NJ). Someone else I know had this one also, and it didn't work well in their Mazda Tribute or Toyota Camry. The signal was very static-y on every single frequency I tried. I eventually bought one by Monster and I love it.

This has been a lifesaver! I have the little ipod shuffle and this works so great with it! You just plug it into the headphone jack of your ipod, plug it into the cigarette lighter jack and then tune it to a low frequency that doesn't come in very well and voila! Your Mp3 music plays through your stereo for continouos music action!! This doesn't charge the little ipod shuffle but I have noticed that my ipod doesn't need charging that much anyways. And when it does, I just hook it up to the adapter I bought, (also by Griffin :) and plug it into the wall for 25mins.
I have noticed that since I travel so much some radio stations end up coming in while I am driving. It is very easy to find another station and sync up this device while driving. A must have, especially for the tiny ipod shuffle!

It's great not having to have any batteries for the transmitter OR the MP3 player. Works fine despite crowded NYC airwaves. Only thing lacking is an on/off switch; I have to pull it out of the lighter socket to keep it from draining the car battery.

I love this transmitter! When I first got it, I was disappointed that it seemed like you could not transmit in the best frequency of 87.9, but then I figured it out:
To change it to international mode (with the frequency 87.9 and so forth) all you have to do is hold the preset button for about 15 seconds, and the US will start flashing. Then you just hit the plus or minus to change to international mode, and voila! You now have the much coveted 87.9 frequency!
Since this transmitter will always be usable for any future mp3 player that I can imagine, (they are all going to have to have headphone jacks, right?) this means:
THIS IS THE LAST TRANSMITTER YOU WILL EVER HAVE TO BUY!
End of story. Get it. Now.

I purchased this item to use with my Zune. I originally ordered a different item (not from amazon, but only b/c they didn't have it), after waiting for more than a month for it to be shipped, I looked into this transmitter. I like that it's almost 1/2 the price of the other transmitters (that don't have chargers included),and it finds the stations for me. I like that if I drive into an area where the reception will be better on a different station, it changes to that station automatically. You just have to adjust the car radio to match it. The sound is wonderful, crisp and clean! The only negative that I've found is that if your device has no battery life, it won't play until you let it charge for a bit.
Excellent product for 1/2 the price.
