It's funny to read some of the reviews complaining about the slowness of this computer; I purchased it with my girlfriend basically for her. On the first time start up while Windows 7 goes through its motions, she complained it was slow. When we uninstalled Norton and installed Kaspersky, she complained it was slow. These are fairly data intensive and processor intensive tasks (the initial setup and uninstall/reinstall prcoesses) and these tasks even slow down the fastest of computers. Anyhow, as soon as we got it up and running, it has been an absolutely stellar little perfomer with plenty of RAM for multitasking and a convenient HDMI port which we've already plugged into the big screen in our bedroom to stream Hulu (well, until the Roku we bought arrived!).

I bought this laptop about a week ago and I love it it's fast and efficient highly recomended if you're not looking to spend much on good quality has built in webcam and microphone

It had been a while since I was on the market to purchase a PC. I happened to settle on this one only because of the low price and decent reviews. I also visited the Best Buy store not too long before closing time, so I tried not to linger with the sales rep. Told myself I'd get it and try it for myself.

I bought this laptop as a second laptop to have at home to browse the internet. There seemed to be something wrong with the dvd drive. It took quite a few tries to start loading the Kapersky disc and once it finally did load, it took a long time to load the program. This is a very slow laptop and took forever to load pages, kept freezing up on me and I have high speed internet. The touch pad wasn't centered and was more to the left.Also the dvd drive took a long time to start loading other dvd movies and I had to keep taking out the disc and putting it back in the laptop to try and get it to play the dvd.It was frustrating having this laptop. I ended up returning it to the store. My advice it to spend a little more money and get a better laptop,especially one with 4GB or more of memory.This laptop was slower than my netbook.

The laptop uses the AMD Dual-Core Processor C-50 which has the Radeon HD 6250 graphics accelerator integrated on the same chip. The design provides the best performance possible with long battery life. In fact the processor draws only 9 watts! The whole point of this design is to provide a general purpose laptop that can surf the net, play videos, use email, word processing etc. while draining very little energy from the battery. I bought this laptop for my wife who loves it! Weve played numerous movies at 1020P flawelessly without freezing or dropping frames. The Windows Experience test ranks it at 2.8. That's good enough for an highly energy efficient laptop.

This is the best laptop I have ever had for the money....I've had approx. 7 over the past 5 years and this one beats them all hands down....even the more expensive ones. Keyboard is the best; most solid feeling and better than most out there. The only drawback is the sound: it only has one built in speaker that doesn't sound very good....but you can get an external clip-on set for a laptop for around $30.

Please be informed that this notebook computer has only 1.0 GHz (1,000 MHz) processor speed, and this processor is based on a 8 year old technology (in 2003, it was 1.0 GHz average) . It is not 1.5 GHz, 2.0 GHz, or, most common now, 2.5 GHz. Even a tiny netbook with Intel Atom processor to be much faster than this. Expect it to run 2 to 2.5 times slower than a Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium, Intel Core, AMD Sempron, AMD Athlon/Turion II, and AMD Phenom. Putting in more RAM will NOT increase performance. It takes forever to install and uninstall programs.

In one sentence (albeit a long one): For those looking to have a laptop around for general music streaming, school/office work, or internet browsing this laptop serves as an "HD" netbook option in laptop form.

I picked up this laptop for a friend of mine who needed a basic computer. This Gateway laptop has really impressed me for the price point. It is quiet, has a sharp screen and the battery life really is 4 hours plus. The profile of the laptop is also very sleek. I had my doubts because of the price, but after using this thing for a full day I am quite impressed.

I bought this when I saw dual core processors. I didn't realize they were 1 gig and this was similar to a netbook but full size. Thought about returning it but when I started playing with it it works great. I skyped with my kids while at work, watched a streaming movie from netflix and the screen is crisp and bright. I would not use it for gaming but for most other uses a great laptop for the price. Glad I bought it.

I have been looking for a general use Laptop for some time, but didn’t feel like breaking the bank to get one either. I wasn’t familiar with the new AMD CPU in this unit but after a little research found it was dual core and held up well in most tests. When I saw this go on sale at Best Buy this week I had to give it a shot. The screen is very crisp and clear, bright colors, keyboard and touchpad are very responsive, and the PC itself is quite snappy. No real delays when loading programs, processor held up well to initial setup and light application use. It also has a nice software package included along with Free Antivirus from Best Buy. HDMI out is definitely a plus, but I consider that standard now. Your not going to do any "real" gaming on this PC, but for the price it is a steal.

When I first saw a $349 laptop advertised I thought the worse. No power, lousy graphics, and pitiful hardware. Well, I was wrong. This processor is new from AMD and for the overall price, I was impressed. I even connected the HDMI cable to my flatscreen to watch videos........flawless. That being said I had to take away a star since it probably can't handle the rigors of intense gaming or heavy multi-tasking...........but for $349.........who would expect that. A great buy!!

I was looking for another computer just to have around the house, and im not a gamer so i was not looking for anything top of the line. This liitle guy has quite alot of features and it works rather well. I brought home and 15 minutes later i was on the internet. I could have been on sooner but I was meesing with main page things. At first I was skeptical because there are no reviews on it tell now, but i think who ever buys one will be impressed as long as you are using it for the basics.
