Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
I would like to highly recommend this player. However, do be careful when buying a refurbished player that you are getting a Version 2 and not a Version 1, especially if you plan to add more memory to it. I originally purchased a refurbished player (e280), not realizing that there WAS a version 1 AND a version 2. There was never anything written ANYWHERE (even on the Sandisk website!) about there being two versions. The big difference is that with the Version 1, you can only add a maximum of 2 GB. I wanted to purchase the e280 which has 8 GB, and add an additional SD card with another 8 GB, giving me a 16 GB player. AMAZON was really great about taking back the Version 1, and then I found a refurbished version 2 and purchased that instead. I also purchased an 8 GB SD card, and upgraded to a 16 GB player. Then I purchased a wall charger, an car charger, a crystal case, and a cassette adapter for my car stereo. The total cost for everything, including shipping was only $117.00. I was HAPPY

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
I have never used one of these things, and even I was able to upload album after album. It just loads anything that I have stored in the library of the Windows Media player. It came with software of some sort, but it wasn't necessary to load it. It is easy to use, and it holds a lot more music than I would have expected. I am very glad that I bought it.

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
This refurbished Sansa came with earphones, a computer charger, and a media converter cd...Everything has worked well and the color and screen quality are excellent. The price was REALLY good for an 8GB because i had bought my old Sansa e240 lil monster for around $70 and it was only a 1GB brand new, it still works after 2 years, but i needed an upgrade. This mp3 player displays videos with good picture quality...it is a small screen, but the graphics don't freeze up or show the tiny "grids"....The player collects dust easily and the metal backing shows oily spots from holding it too long, so i would suggest having a cover to protect it from scratches and having to be wiped clean after every use. It is a really cute device to carry around, my brothers say it looks like a phone. The black is sleek and it is just soooooo awesome! I personally Love Sansas so i have vowed to never buy an Ipod. They are so much simpler to convert videos and photos (which have impressive display quality also)

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
Product is compact which is great. Battery holds a good charge and lots of songs. I misjudged however and i should have ordered a larger Gb. But I have almost 2000 songs on the MP3.

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
My wife had washed my original mp3 player when I had left it in my pocket of my pullover. It was a 2gb Sansa and had been working fine. I was hesitant in buying a refurbished item but everything works great, I have a mp3 that is 4x bigger that my previous mp3 player and it was about $50 dollars cheaper than the the prior. I would highly recommend this product to others. This mp3 does everything that it is suppose to do and does it well.

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
This is the worse mp3 player I have ever had. I received this as a gift and only had it for a year. In that year I had to call support every time I had deleted songs, and they could never fix the problem long term. I have also sent it in and still had troubles. This mp3 player is more trouble then it is worth, I will never buy a sandisk product again.

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
We bought this to replace my daughter's 40gig iPod whose hard drive crashed after a year (wasted $250). The sansa has flash memory so there is no hard drive to crash. The sansa can record songs from the radio (ipod can't), she can use it to listen to electronic books from the library (ipod can't). Its a nice size unit that appears very durable and looks brand new, except for the "REFURB" stamped on the back. Its nice to be able to drag and drop music and not have to sync it on with a separate program. The music sounds great, the earbuds are a nice quality for being stock.

She was very happy to get this inexpensive replacement.

We have three of these in our home. They can be purchased for a lot less than list price. Expansion slots for micro sd cars make the storage capabilities virtually endless. The video quality is excellent, as well as the audio. Ease of operation makes it even possible for my old timer husband to listen to his favorite 60's rock bands, and my 10 year old daughter can navigate this with ease. If you are wanting a high quality device, without the outrageous price the 'popular' brand charges (You KNOW what brand I am talking about) this is the one you want. Much smaller and lightweight than it looks online. I have had the first one for over three years, and am getting ready to purchase a fourth one for my youngest daughter's birthday present, as she keeps taking mine !

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
I do not have much experience with reviewing but decided to give some of thoughts on the Sansa e280 v2.

I have owned the e280 for about a month and it has not given me any problems at all. Maybe the reason is that I do all my album creating via WMP11 and take the time to carefully edit the ID3 tags to make sure everything is correct. Then it is a simple matter of dragging and dropping folders from my computer's hard drive to the Sansa using Windows Explorer.

My music preferences are classical and easy listening. I have loaded complete operas, symphonies, musicals, etc. to the e280 and its interface is ideal. I simply select Album and choose my selection.

The earbuds which came with the unit are excellent but I purchased a pair of Sonys as a spare which are even better.

My only complaint is that I wish it had a bit more volume headroom. On some low-recorded classical tracks, it is just loud enough at max with the 16 ohm earbuds. With over-the-ear 32 ohm headphones I just cannot enjoy

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
I bought a Aim 2GB MP3 Player/ FM Tuner/ Voice Recorder from Overstock and I returned it the very next day I received it! I wouldn't be able to figure that thing out in a million years!
Then someone recommended I just get an Ipod, but an Ipod doesn't come with FM or voice recorder (and that is specifically what I wanted) ... So I took a chance and bought this Sansa e280. (I wanted to save some money and buy refurbished because I never had any problems with refurbished in the past)
Within 1hr of taking it out of the box I had already downloaded songs, listened to the radio and made a quick voice recording! It is so simple to use (even for someone in her mid 30's!) There was one small problem I was having, but I called tech support (TOLL FREE!) and they helped me right away. (Very professional and friendly support ... and FREE!)
In addition to the features I wanted it also has other features that I am so excited about. You can record from FM, you can download photos and short videos, you

I am so glad that I opted for Sandisk. The 8 gig player that I bought plays FM radio where as the i-pods don't. But what really impressed me is the capability to record off the radio. The station that I listen to plays Fusion for 1 hour on Sunday nights, and I can capture all of the wonderful (World Fusion) music they have to offer.

I am very disappointed in this product. Less than two months old,and it has failed completely. I can not even get the unit to boot up. I am trying to contact Sandisk, to see if there is anything that can be done.

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
After my second ipod died on me in less than a year after it was purchased/replaced, I decided I had enough of apple products and became determined to find the best player for my needs. After some research, I discovered that Sansa 8gb has a good combination of features/price and memory capacity of the device is about what I need (I love to shuffle through my music, but I don't need all my collection with me 24/7)
The good things I love about my Sansa:
-ability to drag/n/drop files from PC to the player. No more syncing!
-user-friendly interface
-one mighty battery life - it indeed lasts for quite some while.
-the idea of actually being able to replace the battery without going to the store and paying a lot of money seems to be very appealing
-price price price - I got mine for 125$ in September, now it's even cheaper! A great value indeed.
-expandable memory. I don't need that yet, but I might
However, there are some small issues that bother me as well:
-the screen is simply not bright

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
Before purchasing this device I downloaded the Sansa E280 user guide from the Sansa website. The user guide has clear instructions on how to set MSC or MTP USB connection mode. Really simple. Just select Settings/USB Mode from the main menu. Piece of cake. A child could do it.

That is, a child could do it IF THE F*****G Settings menu had a USB Mode selection. Which it doesn't.

Sorry - didn't mean to shout.

I sent the device back this morning, along with the nifty base station that I was going to use to hook up the device to my home stereo.

Now, just to be clear: I was able to find out that there is a magic handshake that will allow you to set MSC mode: everytime you connect to your PC, put the device in LOCK, and hold down the left-nav button while you are connecting the device to your PC. So simple even an ambidextrous ape could do it, BUT WHY WOULD HE WANT TO???!!!??? Why the f**k would Sansa ship a device that has to be used in that way?

Oops, shouting again. Sorry.

Anyway, I sent

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
At the end of last year, I was looking into purchasing an MP3 player. I did a lot of research into them and found that there were not many contenders that shine above all the rest. The two choices that I was left with ultimately were the Apple iPod and SanDisk Sansa.

I purchased this item about 3 months ago and I must say that I could not be happier. I use it every day and no other words could help describe it except perfection. SanDisk truly thought of everything when designing this product. It has a beautiful sleek exterior that not only is very attractive, but also very durable at the same time. Many of my friends who have purchased and iPod complain about the touch-sensitive wheel and after a while certain buttons and functions cease to work from continued use. The construction of SanDisk Sansa far exceeds that of the iPod in that nothing is touch-sensitive and every function has its own button or wheel. I expect that my Sansa will outlive any iPod on the market!

The storage

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
Granted this device will have problems on Microsoft operating systems, but that's common place for almost everything associated with MS. Putting that aside, this product has tons of advantages over most others. Drag & drop works perfectly on GNU Linux & Mac (and windows if set to USB mode), its easy to reformat/repair file system (under any OS), self resetting & takes a census of its content (which yes does slow down the reboot, but well worth it). The sandisk e280 isn't dependant on software or a specific operating system. It works best (for dragging and dropping from a file manager) using the USB mode (works better than using the MS protocol setting on MS systems). So it can go from any USB capable OS to another without skipping a beat (pun intended). If your current OS fails & takes out the Sandisk's file system, no problem, run over to any other computer (& and OS) and reformat it, then reboot and you're good to go. If you have a Linux or Mac machine, you can use the file manager

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
The main purpose for me to buy this product is The Teaching Company courses that comes in CD format. I figured that would be a piece of cake to convert them into MP3 and listen to them in my car or at bed time. False. I just cannot organize the MP3 into any playlist that will play them in sequence. Picture this: I am in my bed listening to a lecture 20. After the player finish it, them it jump to lecture 1. Crazy. The same for the Bible. Organizing it by books and chapter was a major task and at the end, I got a huge album calle NVI Biblia comprising all the books and chapter. I could not, for example divide them into albums called Genesis and Exodus and the like. I had to record them using a ackward scheme, like 01 Genesis 01, 01 Genesis 02, 02 Exodus 01, etc., to represent Genesis chapter 1, 2, Exodus (The second book) chapter 1, etc. for which I had to rename every track in the collection of 70 CD times 20 tracks per CD for a total of about 1400 new names. Painful!

Also,

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
I bought this MP3 player to replace my Creative Zen Micro that died on me. I was leaning towards the Creative Zen V plus, which is comparable to the SanDisk Sansa e280; however, there are several reasons why I chose this player. I figured a review was in order after working with the player over a 3 month period.

Note: This review is based off of the "older" model of the Sansa e280.

Pluses
-Long battery life! (20+ Hours, depending on usage and settings)
-Vivid color LCD screen
-Sleek design
-Solid Construction
-Expandable Memory
-Excellent Radio
-Voice Recording
-Video/Image Playback
-Great Audio
-Easy Firmware Updating

Inconveniences
-Wheel feels loose
-Screen goes completely dark without Backlight
-Hiccups or hesitations between tracks in albums
-Buttons can be difficult to press
-Lengthy Boot time
-Volume resets after booting (edit)

Cons
-NO Organization Software!
-No AC charger

This player really offers a lot to users who are looking for a decent player, even though it has a

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
The first thing that disappointed me when i got this player was that you cannot keep your own music organization. It's as if you are listening to your music though media player since everything gets filtered into artist, album and such. If you have folders in My Music that you personally created ofmixes you're going to have to create playlists for the player, which causes it to freeze meaning you have to wait as patiently as possible for the player to gather all the songs. As a whole it's a slow functioning player, maybe the 2gb one is faster. Also, even with updated firmware sansa has problems displaying album art. Maybe it's just my luck that my player is messed up because a friend's sansa displays art for the same songs....not all sansa are created equal. To justify that, when it comes to voice recording mine is horrible. It records in low volume and there is this ongoing motor sound that is recorded each time. I guess they couldn't create a clean functioning device. A friend's player

...as at least one reviewer noted, I've also had the problem where midway through a song, the player seems to grind to a halt. If I hold down fast-forward, I can still hear the track (at increased speed, of course)...but nothing seems to be able to make the player "wake up" and play the remainder of the track.

However, this peculiar playback problem seems to be file-specific, and has occurred fewer than 10 times. So far, I've transferred about 4,000 songs to the Sansa (at one time or another). So it's not a disastrous failing, merely a rare nuisance.

Strangest of all: the halted playback occurs on more than half of the .MP3s (or .WMAs) ripped from different CDs by the same artist! It's as if there's something about his music the Sansa doesn't like. I've tried using different programs to rip the tracks, and it doesn't help. Very odd.

Another complaint: when playing CDs which run continuously, with no silence between tracks (Sgt. Pepper being an obvious example), the Sansa hiccups;

I was sure my next MP3 player would be Nano but when push came to shove I couldn't purchase it. Instead I got the 8GB Sansa for a fraction of the cost of the Nano. It has a user replaceable rechargeable battery, an expansion card slot so I can add even more storage to it, and a bigger screen all for about 2/3rds the price of a Nano.

You can drag and drop your music to the player directly from your desktop thus bypassing the need for iTunes or even Windows Media Player (which the Sansa works with if you want to use music management software).

Perfect? No, but the flaws are few. I was dismayed at how complicated it was to set up playlists but that's been solved for me.

[...]
I just arrange my music in seperate folders in the MUSIC folder, run the program and playlists are created for each of my folders.

My only real complaint is that I've used iPods and like how the buttons are integrated into the ring that controls the menus. On the Sansa you have to move your thumb off of the

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
I already owned another MP3 player by the same company and I was very happy with it but I was troubled because I had music electronic books and messages all mixed up on one music player. So I bought an 8 GB with video and I was able to separate out all of my music from all of my speeches and sermons and messages. I was also able to separate out speeches given by ministers and sermons and other electronic books onto one device and leave the other device for music only. I'm very happy with the company and I even had to invoke the warranty on my 4 GB and they honored it without too much difficulty. I highly recommend this brand of MP3 player over the other ones because of the value and price, usability, and aftermarket products that are getting better and better. Plus it's the only one that has the ability to upgrade to a higher capacity. I have a 2 GB micro sandisk in my device and it affords me more space than I could imagine. So there you have it: value, ease-of-use, versatility,

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
I have used the Sansa e280 MP3 player for a little more than a month now and I am favorably impressed with it. It is a good looking player, small enough to carry in a shirt pocket and it has an ENORMOUS capacity for a player with flash memory. The sound quality is very good and about what I expected out of a top quality machine like this. The ear buds that came with the player are a little better than the "El Cheapo" buds you usually get with most players but if you are an audiophile or a bass-head then you will probably want to invest in a better pair.

Of course this player does more than just play music. It will also display pictures and play videos. I only use mine for music but it comes with some sample pictures and a video. I played those and found them to be very good quality. Even though the display screen is larger than most, it is still a small format and will only show so much detail. This player can play only one proprietary format of picture and video but it does come with

Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3/MP4 Player - Refurb
I was really excited when I first got it because I have had allot of good experiences with Sandisk products, and I figured a company that specializes in data storage would have a great product. The price was just right and all the features were great until....the thing kept putting all of my music in an Unknown file that every time I tried to access it with would display BAD TRACK and then freeze the device. I even tried deleting all of the music files and starting over, but they would not show up on the computer to delete. My last device was a Dell DJ and I liked that I could delete songs directly from the device. I hate this player and will be sending it back! I may just have to bite the bullet and get an Apple.
