Purchased this antenna to receive HD local channels. Was a bit skeptical but for $10.00 might as well give it a shot.
Turned out to be an excellent product. I receive local HD channels in 1080i with excellent reception. I used a $10.00 coupon received from my rewards card so I was able to score two of them for $10.00.

I thought I'd try out an antenna to see what I could get over the air in north Dallas.
Answer: 4 channels (sometimes).
It broke when I moved the antennae, and the reception was pathetic.
Avoid like the plague!

DC - I'm house sitting for my mom while she's out of the country for the next 4 months...she suspended her cable so I purchased a HD Antenna a few weeks ago for her digital TV - I was only receiving 13 channels and had lost hope of tuning in my favorite UHF channel for late night laughs ie, re-runs of Seinfeld, 2.5 Men etc...I was researching the purchase of another antenna UNTIL I read your genius review!!!! I ran the auto program using the cable setting, then ran the auto program using the antenna setting as you suggested...IT TOTALLY WORKED!!! I'm getting 36 crystal clear local channels now!! A THOUSAND thank yous for writing this review!! I can now sleep peacefully after watching late night re-runs of Family Guy - sweet! Or should I say "Freakin' Sweet!" You Rock DC!

I purchased 3 but only had one LCD TV. I hooked up this antenna and was so surprised by the number of channels it pulled in. I just purchased my 2nd LCD TV and did the same thing with the same success. HINT: Scan for channels with the CABLE SETTING (even though you don't have cable) and then scan for channels with the ANTENNA SETTING. I had to do this to pull channels 7 and 9 which are cable channels. Hope this was helpful.

for the first 2 weeks it worked great, but from re positioning & moving the antenna around the little cable wire gets in knots then breaks. must be handled like glass

I am very happy with the antenna. Before the antenna I received only 2 stations after I received 12. I would consider that quite an improvement. For the price, I am very happy with the results

After the digital transition, this antenna only provided me with one local station, namely 4-1, which renders it practically useless! I intend to return it to the store!

I live in the San Jose, Ca area. Bought this to improve pretty good reception from an old tube TV rabbit ears antenna. Returned it. Poor quality. UHF loop did not work at all on its own. Combined RCA 111 rabit ears and UHF loop reception much worse than the reception from the old rabbit ears antenna.

After looking at the 106 reviews I decided to go to Best Buy after work and pick one up. I drove home hooked it up to my 32" Insignia HD television and enjoyed watching the Cubs beat the Sox 5-4 in HD. 9.99!! HD!! This thing rocked, who woulda thought that for 9.99 I can get HD on my television. Buy this, give it a shot! I have satellite and the way they want to nickle and dime for everything, they can forget about it, especially now with this cheap lil wonder.

I bought this because of the price. It didn't work well...My TV is fuzzy and some channels don't come in or they go in and then I get a "no signal" message. I don't have a converter box - my TV was bought DTV ready. I returned this antenna the next day.

I based my purchased on the positive reviews here. Unfortunately, it did not work for me! I had to keep adjusting it and it did not get these channels offered by nearby stations. I returned the very same day. If you decide to gamble on it, make sure the store where you purchase it offer a good return policy; Even then IMHO, it's not worth the time and effort

I originally purchased this product because of all the great reviews I read on here but since the "Big Switch" this product does not pick up as many channels as it did before.

This is the best 10.00 ive spent! No more cable bills, high quality HD tv for free!
I live in NYC, about 4 miles from the Empire State Building where the signals are sent from and this has worked amazing.

This antenna didnt improove my reception much more than the broken one I had before. My tv breaks up every time a car or plane goes by and Im still missing the two channels I wanted which led me to buy a new antenna in the first place. I should have invested the money in buying a better one.

I was pretty surprised at the amount of channels it picked up, in total i think it was around 32+ channels, granted some tend to loose the signal every once in a while and yes there are a couple that are weather channels, but for the price, it's not that bad.

I live in the Bronx, NYC and this antenna is definitely a steal at 10 dollars, way to go bestbuy! I believe I get at least 15 or more HD (digital) channels. I can't wait to see how many more channels I get once the DTV transition takes place. The Antenna is very easy to set up, just be sure to not exert too much force or else it may break. The material feels very cheap (what do you expect from $10??) I get crystal clear reception, the signal is very strong and does not drop. I have very little to zero pixelation and no freezing. I highly recommend this antenna to anyone in the NYC area, it's fantastic; saves on the cable bill for those of us working professionals who work all day.

I bought an antenna at a local dollar store in Phoenix that is very similar to this RCA unit. The UHF loop is shaped differently, and the RCA is heavier, but the reception is almost the same as the one that cost $1. There are two advantages to the RCA: you don't have to screw in the VHF dipoles if you are only going to watch digital, and the RCA has a longer cable, so it is easier to place and adjust in different areas. My advice is to check out local dollar stores if you're on a budget. Otherwise, the RCA unit is fine. You still need to adjust it for weaker stations, but for the most part I don't have to touch the antenna when I change channels.

After going through the gamut of antennas for my new 13" Sylvania digital TV set I had almost given up and was ready to return the TV set. Every one of the four "super-duper" antennas I had purchased (some with electric "boost") did not provide a good picture. In frustration I went back to Antenna Web, entered my address, and noticed the column titled "compass heading"....DUH! It seems that no one has emphasized the fact that the digital signals are far more sensitive to direction than analog signals were/are. I took my RCA ANT111, faced it toward the south (towers were at 177-181 degrees), went through the channel setup and voila - perfect pictures on every local channel. The towers are 22 to almost 24 miles away, if anyone wondered. So the last expensive antenna I purchased is going back to the store for a refund. The RCA ANT111 is perfect for my needs.

My main complaints for this antenna is that the reception is mediocre. I only live 17 miles from boston where fox is broadcast, and I can barely get it. There are a few channels I don't even get. Then there are a few channels it seems to have trouble locking into and the picture will randomly go from good to bad, or even to the point where there is no signal. The other problem is that it is very cheap and flimsy, the dipoles bend under their own weight, and the base is too small, it can be easy to knock it over.
All in all while it isn't great it really isn't that bad and gets great reception on many of my channels

I paired this with the Insignia NS-DXA1 (Zenith DTT901) converter box and this combo is working great. After checking out AntennaWeb.org, I found that based on my location all I really needed was a small multi-directional antenna to pick up the channels I wanted. Hooking it up was a breeze, and I only really had to play around with placement and position of the rabbit ears for a minute or two to get all my channels clear and crisp (the signal strength feature on my converter box made that easy, too).
I'm picking up 12 channels right now and maybe I could get a few more from further away (according to AntennaWeb there are a couple more channels about 100 miles away) with an amplified multi-directional antenna but for now I'm happy with only spending ten bucks.

The antenna did not pick up all the channels I wanted. I was looking for channel 44.6 and it had no signal at all. 4-11 came in great but gets interference when the dog pass by. I live in a condo next to the parking structure and the tv is on the opposite side of the window so maybe that's why it didn't work for me. I ended up returning the antenna and was going back to get an amplified one.

We decided to get rid of cable this year (darn this economic crisis) and purchase this antenna as a cheap way to keep our HD channels. At $10, we weren't expecting much, but we were wrong. The channels come in clear and we just wish we would've done it sooner.
The few criticisms I have is that from time to time you'll get a bit of pixelation as a result of interference in the area. I live in a 5th floor walk-up in Manhattan and I think that's really good for reception. However I conviced my dad to buy an antenna in Hillside NJ so he could get rid of his satellite box and it didn't work so well there. He now uses it as an FM antenna instead. At $10 it was worth the experiment.

I get great reception with this antenna which was used before connecting to a converter box. Since connecting to a converter box I still get great reception. As with anything else when the "ears" are fully extended you have to be careful that the unit doesn't fall. Put it in a good place on stable serface and no trouble. I've had both of mine for almost 1 year now and have had no problem with either.

I live in Seattle proper and this antenna did not work for me. There were two network channels I could not receive, neither via analog nor digital signals.
The good news is that RCA has another model (ANT121), which is only about $4 more, but has far better reception. I am very happy with that product.

I couldn't get any channels from the APEX 250A DTV decoder before attaching this antenna, but was able to get 6 channels after. When I plug the antenna into the TV directly, I was able to also get a much better reception. Overall, I'm happy with the price I paid for this and how well it performed. Installation was pretty easy.

I read the other reviews and gave it a shot. Cord is only 4-5' long so make sure length is enough to get to your converter before buying it. This is only antenna I tried so can't say for sure that I'd get more channels with a different one. Channels I do get are crisp and clear even though I am not using the component video/audio out. I'm using with a Tivax STB-T8 digital converter which was top rated in Consumer Reports so that may be helping too. Channels I get (3-15-09) with antenna facing West include : 2-1 KCBS-DT, 4-1 NBC-4LA, 4-2 WX+ NR NBCLA.COM, 4-4 USN, 5-1 KTLA-DT, 5-1 THIS TV (MOVIE CHANNEL), 9-1 KCAL-DT, 24-1 KVCR_HD, 24-1 KVCR_1, 24-3 KVCR_2, 24-4 KVCR_3, 28-1 KCET-HD, 28-2 KCET-OC, 28-3 KCET-Vm, 28-4 KCET-W, 30-1 ION, 30-2 qubo, 30-3 IONLife, 30-4 Worship, 34-1 KMEX-DT, 44-1,2 KXLA-DT, 44-3 Sk-DTV, 44-4 LSTV (Little Saigon), 44-5 RKTV, 44-6 IAVC, 46-1 KFTR-DT, 50-1 KOCE-HD, 50-2 KOCE-OC, 50-3 Daystar, 50-4 KOCE-SD, 56-1 KDOC-HD, 56-2 KDOCSD1,2, 57-1 KJLA-DT, 57-2 LATVNET,

I live in a house with aluminum siding and I tried it on the first floor where I have my HDTV. I also tried to place it next to the window. Unfortunately it had no digital reception and the analog signal reception was terrible. I probably need a roof antenna. Until then I will have to keep paying for cable. All these people with positive reviews can not be wrong, but that was my experience.

I bought one of these antennas for my 22" Vizio LCD HDTV because I don't have cable. I live 28 miles from the broadcast towers, in a 1st floor apartment. I hooked this antenna up (setup was a snap), and at first I couldn't find anything. Then I put it on the top of my window and I found the local CBS affiliate in HD and the local NBC affiliate in HD. Plus an extra SD classic movies channel. I live in an area with no line of sight but the channels I do get are amazing in HD. I hope after the transition reception will improve a bit. Hopefully anway.
You know what's weird? This antenna picks up signals BETTER then an amplified unit. At least the one I tried anyway. If you live close to the towers this is all you'll need.
Put me down as another believer! This little guy works great!

I cannot believe the number of channels I can get with excellent reception. It isn't what an amplfied version would be but for $10.00 its worth every penny.

After returning another antenna costing 5 times as much, this device provided excellent reception (including HDTV) and worked very well with our newly purchased converter box. Easy to install, and does not take up the space that some of the models do. I would highly recommend for use in any metro area.

Put me down as another converted non-believer.
I have never written an online review before but I felt I should confirm what a great antenna this is.
I first tried an RCA flat antenna that cost $29.95 and was never able to bring in a channel that would not break up. I then tried a Philips indoor/ outdoor antenna that cost $38.95. It was better but not 100% satisfactory.
I live in the sticks here in Maine, surrounded by high hills covered with tall trees. The nearest tv transmitter is 25 miles away and the farthest is 53 miles way. All channels come in with a great picture and great sound.
I could not find this antenna at Best Buy but the big W store had them in stock. Please try this antenna before settling for a much more expensive one that will not perform any better.

I bought a cheap RCA one and was unahappy with that as it didn't receive channels properly and thought of buying a little bit high priced one. Bought Philips for $37 and it's ok. It's not doing anything better than a $10 philips antenna. So, I bought this one(I already saw great reviews for it in bestbuy.com and was looking for it) for $9 in Walmart and it is working very fine. I am very happy with this and it's cheap.

I need a converter box and antenna to get HDTV (don't have cable/satellite service). I already had a "powered" antenna that i purchased at Radioshack but it wasn't giving me all the channels I received previously.
After researching HDTV antennas on amazon I thought I might have to spend $40 - $100 per TV, but after talking to one of the BB emps who was using this little antenna and get all the channels i thought I'd give it a try.
In short, it's fantastic.I'm 3 miles out of downtown Boston and now pick up all the stations. I think I may need to play with it a little, but almost everyone came in immediately. I now have two of these - one for each TV.
I'd suggest you just buy one. They're priced right, BB has a great return policy if it doesn't work, but if you look at all the reviews here, the good news is that it JUST WORKS.

How is this antenna rated so highly? Don't be duped like I was. I came here and read the reviews and was excited that I would only have to spend $10. However, when I got home with the antenna and set it up I only was able to pick up 4 channels with it, and I live in the middle of Minneapolis. I just got back with a new antenna that was $10 more dollars ($20) and I am picking up 24 channels, with 10 HD channels - all crystal-clear quality.
Trust me, taking a gamble on this antenna is not worth it. You have to figure that most of these reviews are from people who were so surprised that for $10 they could get PBS in HD, so they decided to tell us all about how great it is - NOT TRUE.

Great value for the money! I recently canceled my satellite service and needed an indoor antenna for my HDTV. You don't need an expensive HDTV antenna. This one works just fine. I do have some pixelation at times.
Overall, this is probably the best $10 I've spent in a while.

I saw the reviews for this antenna on this site and decided to give it a try for my new Sharp LC-32SB24U 32" HDTV (Awesome TV by the way). In about 5 minutes, I was able to tune in 14 HD channels, many in 1080i or 720p and the picture is AMAZING!! The analog channels look horrible, but I don't care about those. Anyone looking to get OTA HD channels, give this one a try. For $9.99, it is worth a shot.

Where I live here in Texas is between Austin (40 miles north) and (San Antonio 30 miles South). When I bought this I all ready had an Ant outside about 15 ft up.(Antennas Direct - Multidirectional Outdoor HDTV) I'm getting 39 channels out of San Antonio. Out of the 39 channels 17 are digital.
When I hook this up I not only got the channels out of San Antonio I also got channels out of Austin.I'm getting ABC,CBS,FOX and all the others like I getting in San Antonio.
What I like about this is some times when the Spurs play in San Antonio they start to play on the channel and time that takes over what I wanted to see. So now I can watch it out of Austin.
For what I payed a one time payment of 9.99+ tax is better that the one I paid 80 dollars for outside.I wont be going back to cable or Sat any timee soon now.

I bought this antenna with a pessimistic thought. I have to say, I will not be returning this! The digital reception is excellent. I had one 'weak' signal and then I extended the antenna and signal was strong once again. Just try it, seriously SRSLY!
I mean, it's only $10 and if it doesn't work, return it.

After reading all these reviews here, I was still very skeptical but I was like ...'what the heck'... it's only $10. Boy! was I pleasantly surprised. The picture quality rivals those of expensive HD cable services. Thanks RCA, Bestbuy and all those who posted honest reviews.

I am extremely pleased with the clarity of reception from the RCA Basic Indoor antenna, which in addition is inexpensive. We live in Mclean, Virginia, and was able to get the major networks (NBC,ABC, CBS, PBS,and FOX)all very clearly and without cable. I use this antenna with the Samsung LN19A331 HDTV (located in my bedroom), and selected the Antenna option on the TV's menu options to be "Air" vs "Cable". In addition to adjusting the rabbit ears on the antenna, I also found adjusting the connection cord of the antenna to the TV to be helpful. Prior to choosing the RCA Basic Indoor antenna, I did try the RCA amplified antenna and another amplified antenna by Phililps, but for my location, neither measured up to the RCA Basic Indoor antenna.

I purchased this antenna because it was inexpensive and there were great reviews for it on this site. I had high hopes, in my area, depending on the time of day and weather, I could pick up PBS in HD without anything hooked up to my TV at all. I grabbed this antenna, and now I can get PBS whenever I want it, but no other channels come in. I don't purely blame the antenna, as I'm a ways away from a large City. Grand Rapids is about 40 miles away, and they are the closest place with a lot of stations. That being said, there is an ABC tower about 2 miles away that my antenna will not pick up.
I'll be keeping this thing around for when the digital switch happens, maybe I'll get more signals then.

I got this antenna to use in my bedroom. I did not expect it to work so well since it was only $10. I was really surprised when it not only pulled in a few local translator stations, but also pulled in NYC stations from 70 miles away! If you're looking for a low-priced antenna that works well, BUY THIS ONE!!

Ok, this antenna worked adequately but did not pick up all the HD channels unless I put aluminum foil on the UHF loop. After I did that, it picked up all denver HDTV programming. Sounds silly, but it worked. I just took a sheet of the ol' reynolds wrap and put it completely over the UHF loop as a sheet. I didn't "wrap" the metal antenna, I draped the foil over the loop itself. Reception isn't perfect with this method, but it works. No aluminum, no reception at all for channels 12.x. Aluminum=reception

Okay so i too debated buying this over some $50 gizmo. after I read the reviews I rationalized it as $10 i could "throw away" if it did not work. I attatched this to my 22" Vizio 1080P on the 2nd floor.
I assembled the antenna in about 30 secs!
This thing comes with a coax which I attached to my TV.
I used my TV setup features to scan for stations.
(this step is very important and I worry that some folks who did not have success maybe skipped this step)
I live next to a small airport and so i was concerned this would not work!
I got 18 analog and 36 digital stations without even pulling out the "ears"! Could not be happier !

I have been wanting to try hi-def over the air just to see if it really compares with cable. But I also didn't want to pay much just to try it out. With a recent purchase of a HD TV I thought this would be a good opportunity to experiment and found this very inexpensive solution.
I was FLOORED by the quality! I switched back and forth between our basic cable (no HD) and the antenna (HD) and the comparison/contrast was obvious in favor of the antenna.
I live on the west side of Albuquerque and have a clear view of the broadcasting antennas on the mountain peak, about 17 miles away. Albuquerque's air is clear too (by the way, Albuquerque has some of the best weather in the country). I spent all of a few minutes adjusting the antennas to get good reception on nearly all digital and analog channels. This was located on the 1st floor of a two story house at the interior of the room located away from the mountain peak.
If you're looking to get rid of another monthly

This antenna is a lifesaver! With my old antenna, I could get 1digital channel and I was convinced I'd have to get cable come February.
But! This antenna is amazing. In combination with my Insignia DTV converter, I now get 30 channels with reception that is 10x better than I ever got. Amazing, for $10.
Afterthought: The only downside might be the durability. One of the metal prongs keeps falling off, but I could always tape it. I wouldn't let this keep you from purchasing.

Since the whole world is going digital in February '09, the marginal performance with analog transmissions will be irrelevant. As a digital antenna it is incredibly good and at under ten dollars an extraordinary value. I use it on a small TV in the basement, where signal strength is weak -- no windows, thick concrete walls. Yet the pictures from digital transmissions are crisp, clear and brilliant.
I was, frankly, astonished.

Picked this little gem up on Friday, hooked it and a converter box to my 16 year old 13" portable and it gives a better picture than cable. Wife did not like the arms fully extended so I pushed them nearly all the way in and the picture did not change. I have the antenna behind the TV so you have to look hard to even see it. I do not get as many channels as I did with cable but the 16 that I do get are crystal clear and free. Occasionally there is a little digital flutter when first selecting a channel but it goes away in a second or two. Overall a great deal for the money.

Best product ever! Don't underestimate it's ability by the price, this antenna picked up ALL the digital local channels in Chicago. I used to have an RCA amplified antenna and this little guy did a much better job. All channels come through with a strong signal. You can't beat this product for the price. I live in the city and you know what cities can do to TV signals, well nothing stood in the way of this. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Oh and this little guy is connected to a 46" Samsung LCD HDTV and looks perfect! I can't praise it enough.

Easy to assamble.
Receives 27 Digital channel versus the 2 channels I get with my building's roof top antenna's.
Everything that the box says the antenna can do, is true.
Recommendation:
If your converter box has a way to measure antenna reception strength, use it to find the best location for your antenna. Then run the channel scan.
The first time I ran the scan without doing this I got 23 channels; then I reposition the antenna and reran the scan and go 27 channels!

Great performance for the price...disclaimer: I can SEE the towers over the trees from my 2nd floor so I'd be appalled if it didn't get good reception! Got this as a back up to our Dish VIP722 when it's either loaded down with DVR events or if we have a weather disturbance I can switch to HD locals...frankly, over-the-air looks better than the locals over Dish (less compression) so when I'm watching the locals I'll most likely use the antenna! So glad there's an option at this price point.

Amazing price for the quality. I didn't belive it could be so easy to leave Cable behind. This product just plugs into my Dynex "32 Flat Panel HDTV and I have over 39 channels to watch in High Definition. Wow

VERY easy to assemble and it does just what it's advertised to do...pull down off-air HD channels. Tried this antenna on all three of my HD TVs and it works great! The HD channels come in crystal clear with no issues. What more can you ask for?

I purchased this antenna for the TV in the basement. I did not expect the picture to come in as clear as it does. It looks like I have cable TV in the basement. I get all (five) local channels for our area. The antenna is connected to the DTV converter box.

I live around DT Seattle and the products works great for my HDTV with digital tuner.
If your TV has digital-to-analog TV converter box or a built-in digital tuner, this product works great.
The analog channels' quality was not so good. So, if you still want to use your analog TV set, I recommend you go get digital-to-analog TV converter.

I live in a NYC high-rise apt. w/o a master antenna. I have thus been a cable slave, because analog reception is impossibly bad. But I have 2 digital TV's, and all you need is this cheap antenna to pull in all free HD broadcast digital signals. Digital is an either/or proposition: either you get it, perfectly, or you get nothing. Time Warner Cable charges $55/month for limited basic cable for one set. Really?? How did that happen? Meanwhile, more and more shows are available on iTunes or rental DVD or right on the websites of these channels. So what am I paying for? Goodbye to cable, at least for now. Maybe when they offer really good value, I'll go back.

I sold my amplified indoor antenna thinking that I'd never need a TV antenna again. Well, I did, and bought this. It works just as well, no amp required. I left off the rabbit ears since I only watch UHF channels so the antenna is nice and compact. If you can't use an outdoor antenna, start with this one. Mine is plugged into an AutumnWave USB HDTV tuner which I also recommend.

One great little antenna! I got this because I discontinued my Direct TV and didn’t want to spend a lot of money for one of the amplified ones. I did have some reservations as to how well it would work with the analog signal but decided to try it anyway. I have a mountain between the antenna and the TV towers located on South Mountain about 15-20 miles away. The signal was OK for most of the analog channels but there were a couple that were still fuzzy for this antenna, guess it was the mountain in the way but I learned to live with it. Then I got the Insignia NS-DXA1-APT digital converter box, hooked it up to this little indoor antenna and WOW!! What a difference!!!! This little antenna works so good with the converter box it is fantastic!!!! I went from 11 channels to 28 channels and they are all perfectly crisp and clear and the sound is great!!! Even the ones that were fuzzy are perfect. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money for an outdoor antenna or one of the high

I purchased three of these RCA antennas and they work perfectly. I'm able to pick up over 20 over-the air broadcasts (digital and analog) with this antenna. All the television stations are located within 36 miles from my home. All the antennas are connected to televisions on the second floor of my home. I use two of them with a Digital Stream TV converter box and the other one connected to a 19-inch LCD HDTV. I would recommend this antenna--there's a reason why I own three of them!

I read all the reviews yesterday before deciding on this purchase. I'm too cheap to pay for Time Warner cable that should be free in the first place and I'm certainly not going to pay more for an antenna that does the same thing as a lower priced model. This little beauty was very simple to hook-up (no instructions necessary) and pulls in all the stations that I wanted and then some! I'm watching the Olympics Closing Ceremony and OMG...I feel like I'm there!!! The TV that I purchased to pair up with this antenna is the Insignia NS-LCD22-09. The two together do an awesome job.
Also, if you haven't explored the pick up at the store option, I recommend it whole heartedly. Although I had to drive to two different Best Buys to complete my order, I was back home in just over an hour...piece of cake!!
I'm a happy camper with this purchase.

This unit works much better than I had thought that it would. I read all the spec. on what type of antenna to use in my area & it said that I needed an Directional Outside Antenna. Where I live we are prone to lighting strikes---an outside antenna was out of the question. This one works great!!! I mounted it on a pole behind the TV & made the pole where I could rotate it. Now when I wish to watch the one station that it didn't get it comes in fine. I see no need for the higher price models.

I bought this for use with a conversion box and a 15 year old tv. It was simple to set up as the coaxial cable is in the box. As many of the other reviewers said it works very well.

i bought this model and another rca "amplified" model (ant525 i think), and this small, light and cheap model was the big winner.
this $10 unit pulled in 5 channels initially, the other "amplified" unit only pulled 4. i hooked this unit back up and scanned again to pull 7 channels, all the ones we were looking for.

This very affordable digital antenna does a heck of a job picking HD local channels. My satellite provider does not have locals in my area (Indianapolis). I live 11-17 miles from the broadcast towers and have no landscape or building obstructions to interfere with the signal, so I went with a passive (versus a more expensive amplified) antenna. This antenna picks up CW, PBS, FOX, CBS, NBC, and ABC in HD with a signal strength of 77-98% (avg. ~88%). I have this antenna setting behind my 50" Panny Plasma (obscuring its massive ugliness) and connected through a ViP 722 (allowing the recording of OTA signals onto the DVR). The only cons (as previously mentioned in other reviews) is the size of the antenna (bigger than 3' x 3' when extended) and the short length of the coax connection cable (~3'). Overall, this antenna gives a big bang for a small buck.

Based on the reviews I had read prior to buying this product, I had thought I was getting a really good bargain. And yes, I do have more now than I had before, but I get two channels that are very fuzzy. One that is very very fuzzy. And one that you can almost hear something going on, but you can't see anything. I do get PBS on one channel, but it's not any that shows up on any of my TV Guides anywhere I can find, so I don't ever know what's going to be on that channel. Basically, like I said, a few channels I can hardly see are better than no channels at all, but I defintely should have spent the money and bought one that was a little better

Ive read reviews about this antenna after searching for antennas for my new hdtv, and decided with 100% great reviews and only a 10 dollar price tag, i would purchase this antennal and i did.
When i got home, i was excited. free hdtv over the air! i pulled the thing out of the box and was surprised how simple it was to set up.
I set it up and connected it to my hdtv which has a built in tuner, put the antenna near my window (im on the second floor, too) and turned on my tv for it to auto tune.
And so i waited about 20 minutes for it to sort through every possible channel my tv is capable of pulling in (which is over 100) and was depressed to find it only pulled in 11 channels, when I know for a fact that many more than that are broadcasted in my local area alone, not including national broadcasts.
I was also very upset to find that the signals it pulled in were so disguisting i couldn't bare to watch it!

Because of costs and the fact that we don't watch much TV, our family recently decided to jettison satellite and go back to the venerable over-the-air broadcasts. I have a standard definition TV, so in anticipation of the change to DTV, I purchased this antenna alongside a digital converter box.
I decided to take a chance on this little unit because it was the least expensive out there, figuring it was worth a risk before I started sinking more money. As it turns out, the RCA antenna works great -- we have about 11 digital channels in our area and this device brings in all of them, even with the antennas fully retracted. What's more, the picture is fantastic (satellite-quality) and our digital tuner reports that the signal strength is quite strong. I had to do very little manual adjusting to make it work.
Now, a disclaimer -- we live about 15 miles from a mid-sized city, so our location is pretty close. That said, I'm glad I took my chances with this little item before I started

I talked to Best Buy employees, friends, and read many reviews on this website and others trying to get a feel for the best antenna. I couldn't get any strong conclusions, so I went to Best Buy and bought the RCA ANT111 for $8, the Terk TV5 Amplified Low Profile Antenna for $45 and the Terk HDTVa Antenna Pro for $60. I set up the antennas on my Plasma TVs (Pioneer Kuro PDP-5020FD and my Pioneer PDP-5010FD) and my 6 yr old Projection TV (Hitachi 51SWX20B). I live in a townhome in the middle of downtown Atlanta. The Hitachi was in the basement, and Pioneers were in my 2nd floor living room aligned vertically . (I happened to have two since I was returning the 5010 for the 5020 and the guys coming to pickup the 5010 had not come to pick up the TV). So - I used this opportunity to test the antennas. The antennas all did horribly with the Hitachi. I don't know if it was because of my television or the location (in the basement). Upstairs, things were better. The inexpensive RCA did not pull

I purchased this after having bought the $39 one for my second TV. It actually works better and has better reception. I bought it due to the reviews and they were right on. Because my current TVs are analogs (have to wait on the digitals) I purchased the converter boxes (also through BB), and the reception is great. There are just two stations I wish I would get (CBS and NBC) that I don't, but maybe after everything goes to digital I'll have better luck.
I used to ride a friend of mine who had an antenna vs. cable, but with the high cost of cable I was forced to go antenna...and the picture is just as great.

I bought this $10.00 antenna to use with a new 26" HDTV in my bedroom. While I was initially skeptical as to how good this thing was, it met my expectations as it pulled in a boatload of channels via the set's internal tuner, including over-the-air HD channels, both local and national. I was highly impressed with how well this antenna works for the price. My own gripe is the short, thin cord which can't be detached in favor of a longer, thicker, standard coaxial cable, otherwise, this was a good buy.

This was one of the biggest wastes of time in my life. I live in a old brick building that was built in the 1800's. I was able to get only one channel(FOX) and even that one channel was horrible to watch. I can;t make out half of the things going on because this thing gets ZERO reception. I would strongly advise anyone thinking of buying this to think again...spend the extra money and get an aplified unit.

After trying multiple antennas, all of which were more expensive than this one, I am happily using this basic antenna. Receives excellent HDTV reception within 20 miles of TV towers. HD picture quality is noticeably better than HD picture provided via HD cable, which I would not have believed without seeing. Like any antenna, reception is sensitive to aiming. I followed recommendations from antennaweb.org to properly aim it.

I purchased this after reading the many favorable reviews. I previously purchased the more expensive, powered, amplified antennas. I also brought separately a powered amplifier. Neither one of those products were able to pull in the FOX channel. Analog was always "snowy" but I could see and hear the channel. Upon taking this $10 gamble by purchasing this cheap, rabbit ear model, I was surprised that it did indeed pull in the Fox channel with amazing, HD clarity. Something the expensive models couldn't do. Just be careful with the rods. It did not take much to bend and break off the upper part of a rod. Even with part of the rod missing, it still works great--better than analog ever did!

and just got a 61" hdtv for my master bedroom and i don't want go the cable way ( when free air is there ) When i got the new set home all i had was a old somewhat broken amplified rabbit ears, When hooked up pulled in no less than 16 stations in the area wow most HD great picture. But i thought a antenna made for a HDTV might improve it Oh well that is what i was hopeing after trying many different angles and positions i only found one channel with this RCA antenna. :>( " I am happy that i only wasted $10.00 " I will use it on a old radio i have at work so it wont go to waist . Final note you can't alway's go by the reviews!

I live in a very congested part of Chicago. This is the third Anteena I tried. My father gave me an Amplified Anteena which worked well for him at his office in Merriville IN but it did not work in my apartment. The salesman at Radio Shack suggested I buy a newer Amplfied Anteena which was only slighlt better I recieved 6 stations. Many people seemed to like this anteena which was only $10. I thought it was worth a try. I now get 24 Channels and saved $25.

Amazingly, like something out of "Being John Malkovich" or some other absurd comedy, these little rabbit ears -- yes, rabbit ears of all things -- enable reception of stunning, crystal clear, beautiful HD broadcasts that put even my Blu-ray player to shame.
Yes, you need an HD television to enjoy this aspect of the antenna. Otherwise you'll only get the often spotty standard-def signals. If you still have an SD set then this may not be the best thing going.
However, if you do have HD -- wow! I got this antenna for $9 at a brick and mortar store and still can't believe my good luck.
Okay, there *are* some minor quibbles:
First, the cord isn't that long, so you're limited in how far you can move the device away from the tv. Second, the antenna isn't very pretty. Third, occasionally the picture can break up depending on weather conditions.
But, for pure bang-for-the-buck, you just can't go wrong.
I live in a suburb of Atlanta, a bit removed from the major stations in a hilly area,

After reading all the hype around this cheap-o HDTV antenna, I decided to risk losing my hard earned $10. After setting up my HDTV, I connected the RCA rabbit ears to the back panel. I did a channel search, and was surprised to find that I received 50 channels in the SF Bay Area. When I put the batteries in the remote and did a little channel surfing, I was a little disappointed in the results. Yes, the flimsy RCA antenna did manage to lock in 50 channels- but the quality was very poor. Blocky pixilated images, freezing, and drop outs in the sound. I adjusted a few controls on my TV - noise reduction to max, and a few other minor tweaks. I was getting good, strong signals- but there was a catch.
Certain channels only came in if I adjusted the poles a certain way- one straight up, one bent all the way down. Also, the direction I had it pointed in really changed how strong the signal came in. At one point, I had it sitting on my sofa to get a certain channel to come in. I finally

Used it successfully with a Zenith DTV converter box on a 20 year old JVC. Was even better with a one year old Toshiba.
Now we don't have rabbit ears from the old set elevated in the kitchen.
Thanks to all posters for steering me towards this antenna.

Needed an antenna for the upcoming 2/09 conversion for one of my sets. Picked up the converter and was asked if I had the appropriate antenna...didn't know for sure, but didn't want to spend a bundle. So the associate recomended this as a reliable, low cost antenna. Bought it....hooked it up with the converter...BAM...in came nearly 30 high quality signals..some from stations (analog) that were fringe and snowy...that now come in crystal clear.
What a treat....getting more than what you expected!

Moved my 42' sony lcd rear projector tv to our main room and I couldnot get local HD with my old Samsung HD receiver. Didnot want to by new receiver , so i looked at getting a inexpensive antenna. I had bad luck with others, sa I was skeptical until I read the reviews. I bought it on 4-08 and set it up .My samsung receiver all the HD and digital channels in the Chicago area except for Ch 2 and CH9. I receive about 10 HD chaneels and for the most part they come in fantastic. I have it sitting in front of the tv connected to an amplifier connected to my receiver. It amazes me that this inexpensive product performs so well. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs to get free HD signal. Best $9.99 Ispent at Best Buy.

I just recently canceled my cable and was in the market to shop for some antennas so I can just watch free local TV and the major network channels of ABC, FOX, CBS, NBC and etc. I was more than impressed with the clarity and reception this thing provides. I liked the antenna so much, I threw away a set of rabbit ears and bought another one for my old school 1986 RCA TV that chills in my retro theme room. Buy it, worth every penny! You don't need to buy the more pricier ones! I will vouch for this antenna with 100% satisfaction!

Thanks to everyone who wrote a review on this antenna.
I have just purchased an HP system with a digital TV tunner. Been wanting to use Media Center to record HD programing, but rabbit ears didn't get me a signal. I thought I was going to have to spend at least 70 bucks to an antenna to capture a digital off the air signal.
Nope, this little baby gets me 12 channels of HD, 10 very strong signals, 2 just below that. Now I can record on my DVR that's on my TV and on my PC.
Great deal, great price. Buy this, if you don't like it, return it. It's only 10 bucks, can't get any better than that for HD programing.

I hooked this antenna up to a DTV converter box and was amazed how clear all local channels (6, 10, 23, 47, and 53) came in! However, after several minutes of adjusting. I just barely picked up distant channels, such as 18 and 43, before they began to pixelize and finally got a 'no signal' warning. If you only care about local channels, this antenna is for you. If you want to pick up more distant channels, I suggest you get a stronger antenna.

I would never have tried this except for these reviews, so thanks to everyone who posted here. I wanted to get rid of cable, but had tried an expensive indoor antenna with poor results. I took it back and got this antenna as a last ditch effort to get free TV. I'm glad I did-I get the channels I really wanted, and the picture quality is excellent. I'm within ten miles of a transmitter, but in a hilly area so I wasn't expecting such good reception.
Bottom line, I spent 10 bucks and don't need to pay for cable any more-what's not to like?

I read such great reviews on this antenna that I wanted to buy it but first I hooked up an old pair of rabbit ears and I pulled in 22 digital channels most of which are HD including all the networks (crystal clear). I was still curious what the antenna at Best Buy would do so I went and bought it and hooked it up (easy) and let my TV reprogram all the channels and I still got the same 22 digital channels as the rabbit ears. I live in the metropolitan area of Kansas City so I guess rabbit ears is all I need to receive my HDTV channels. I will return the antenna to Best Buy although it works great if you need it but try rabbit ears first if you have a pair lying around.

After finding out i couldnt get an hd signal because of where my townhouse sits in my complex. after reading the reviews i decided what the heck for 10 bucks what can it hurt. i went to my local bb and inquired about hd antennas of course the sales associate recommended the $50. but i picked up the $10. i got it home and hooked it up to my directv dvr reciever and wow it really works. i now get local broadcast hd channles. and the standard def now comes in quite cleaner. and my other satelite channels actually look better which was nice surprise. so buy it whatve you got to loose. if it doesnt work for you hey return it. but it was nice $10 investmest for my 50in pansonic plasma. i gave it 4 stars because it most the most attractive but ive got it sitting on the floor kinda hidden behind my stand with the antennas down and it wouldve been nice to have a thicker coaxil cable, but for $10 hey not bad.

I was tempted to buy a more expensive Antenna, but I decided to try this out and it works perfect. I receive all local channels now in HDTV - most at 98% signal meter which is outstanding from what I hear. It does pick up normal channels as well as HDTV stations.

Read the great reviews for this antenna and wanted to start out on the cheap side to get a feel for the HD antennas before spending some bigger cash. I have an LCD. Neighbors spent over $80 for an HD antenna but I get the same great picture and all the local HD broadcasts, except maybe one or two stations less than they do. But at this price you really can't go wrong. I live about 7 miles from the 3 local stations. It pretty much picks up the HD stations without any adjusting. My only problem is that you can't adjust the antennas all the way down so they don't look so obvious by the tv. IF you're looking for a really good but very inexpensive first time HD antenna-this one is the one to try.

I use mine on the main level of my house, and it works fabulously. I get several of the local channels and in HD without continuing to move the antenna.

This is the 3rd Antenna I've tried. I had an old one that I've used and it worked well. I then bought a Phillips amplfied antenna and that was the biggest piece of a junk ever. Then, I bought this, and I double the amount of digital channels I receive and the only analog channel I want to watch, I get in almost perfect reception.

This is my third indoor HD antenna. The first two went back. The Terk that looks like a Chrismas tree and a 60 dollar powered RCA antenna. Horrible reception, especially for the price. I ended up with digital cable. Don't have digital cable anymore and my HDTV was sitting there only showing grainy basic cable.
Well, I saw the 30 dollar RCA they had advertised on sale and decided to come on this site and check customer reviews. I noticed that this antenna had a really good reviews and people raving about how great it was for the price. I figured "what the heck?, it's only 10 bucks." Bought it and hooked it up and MAN! All local HD channels, crystal clear. I must really rave about this product also. I'm sitting in Englewood, OH in a snowstorm watching crystal-clear HDTV with a 10 dollar antenna that's 10x better than the 60 dollar amplified one. Great Day!

I just bought this last night and hooked up to my Dish receiver. It works well and captures the main channels (fox, cbs, nbc, abc) and a few others. The main channels look good, though there is occasional distortion/tearing in the other channels. It was very easy to install - just hook up to the back of the receiver.
I live is Davis, CA and we are ~15-20 miles from the TV stations, but terrain is relatively flat.
For $10 this is a great product and gets the job done. I would definitely recommend it.

When I first purchased this product, I was expecting to receive about 5 channels. When I hooked it up, I actually got 12 channels. This is free tv! For $10 this is an amazing antenna. I would bet this works just as good as many other antennas much more expensive than it. Definitely buy it.

I thought i'd start with this one and work my way up until I found an antenna that worked. To my surprise, I didn't have to look any further. For the $9.99, this thing works **GREAT** . I get awesome reception for my local HD channels. Whether your reception is good or bad will depend a lot on where you live, but if you live in the city, or close to it, this is where I'd start! hooooahh!!!

I needed this to pick up HD stations over the air. I have the antenna hidden behind my tv out of sight and it works GREAT!!!. I live about 30 miles outside of SLC and get LOTS of great HD stations thanks to this inexpesive beauty.

for $10 what can you expect? not too much and you get what you pay for. if you live in the city it would be awesome, i live in a main area but not really in a downtown. i got some stations, but no fox or nbc :(
