Pros: Easy Setup, Easy To Use, Fast Operation, Multitude of connectivity, Two-sided printing
The major factors that contributed to my decision to buy Epson WorkForce 635 was its two-sided printing capability, multitude of connectivity options (USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi b/g/n) and alleged fast printing capabilities.

After using my new printer for several days I can attest that Epson WorkForce 635 is a decent multi-function printer/scanner/copier/fax as long as you stick to mostly black-and-white documents. Text documents come out fast and crisp and it does print in color as long as you're not picky – colors will be there but they may or may not resemble what you see on your monitor. For instance, I've printed an image with some flowers on it and yes I could recognize the flowers but the color rendition was half off.

The big plus for WorkForce 635 is its multitude of connectivity options: USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi b/g/n. Wireless set up was easy and simple – it found my wireless router (Netgear WNR3500) without any problem and all I had to do was to put my password in and done. Once I installed Epson software on my laptop, it printed without missing a bit (and seemingly not any slower than printing over USB from my desktop). I also tried fax capabilities and it worked like a champ.

However, not all is good with WorkForce 635 as printing text. Scanning and copying quality left much to be desired. My 5-year old Dell 922 had an above average scanning capabilities but WorkForce 635 is quite the opposite. I tired scanning in a document with yellow watermark passport-like background but all I got was something yellow – no watermarked background at all. Pretty much the same happened when I tried to copy the aforementioned document – for the life of it, WorkForce 635 could not copy watermarked background it just printed out. Yes, that bad.

Another word of caution – if you are adventures enough to attempt driver update please be attentive to the pop-up dialogs and list boxes. The update utility may confuse the lights out of you by not selecting EPSON WorkForce 630 Series as the installed printer (it selects something else by default) and you will need to scroll down (which is not immediately apparent) to find EPSON WorkForce 630 Series.

In summary, Epson WorkForce 635 is a good text printer and fax. It will also do OK for undemanding color prints but copying and scanning is not its strong suit.
