Unfortunately, I am forced to pay more to buy the HP brand ink refills. I tried the OfficeMax brand ones but my printer has trouble recognizing the ink levels and therefore rejects them. I guess this is the only way to go.

I can't believe that a company would send an expired item. Portable Guy was the company that sent me 2 HP 96 Large Black Ink Cartridges. They were already expired 3 months ago. And I don't accept explanations that they MAY be good for any time past the date. I have contacted the company and am waiting to see what they will do for me but this is no way to conduct legitimate business. I would never order from Portable Guy ever again. Even if they fix this it is an inconvenienceOriginal HP 96 Large Black Ink Cartridge in Retail Packaging I don't need to deal with.
