World of Warcraft: Mac/Windows
This game is pure garbage until from start to finish. While the game is easy enough for anyone to play (including people that aren't 13+ years of age as the game suggests). The cartoony graphics are fun to look at and the weird little dances the avatars do are amusing to watch, but why should that really matter. I've played lots of video games and have better features to rate on a game on than cheap graphics and ease of play. To start off my complaints I'll mention this game is extremely buggy. Bugged mobs and quests scattered all over the place, and every time they patch it they create 50 more bugs to patch the next time around. I feel so sorry for the people that gave good reviews to this game, because I have no doubt in my mind they are already addicted to this game. Hell, almost everyone on campus I know that plays this game isn't satisfied with a few leisure hours of game play. Most or them play this game for hours each night to level their character to 60 (70 if you have the

My friends had played this game for a month or so, and I finally gave in. So there I am, a tiny little level one without the slightest idea as to what the hell I was supposed to do. Luckily, the beginning levels do a good job of teaching you how to play the game and at the same time make you feel important to the workings of the world. That's part of what makes this game so great, you feel like an important hero, but at the same time know you're not the only one out there. In fact, the farther you advance in the game, the more you start to work with those other people, making you feel more and more like a soldier or drone than a hero, which kind of took away from the fun of the game for me. Also, the world and scenery are perfect. Its familiar enough for you to relate to it and make it believable, but different enough to make you feel like you're in a whole new fantastic world. They also give you enough rewards along the way to keep you leveling to 60, like my favorite, the mounts. i had

Sadly, even though the game itself is great, if you're going into it with an idea that you'll be entering a different fantasy world be warned - it's exactly like real life, only more so in many respects. Both myself and my fiancee experienced almost nonstop incidents of harassment, sexual harassment, foul language, blatant racism, psychotics who've made the game their only interest in life (and believe the game belongs only to them, and you HAVE to play their way or they'll dog your every step and insult you constantly), on and on and on. The Blizzard game managers exercise almost no control over the situation, and do pretty much nothing to help players having these problems. Usually the only solution they offer is to recommend changing realms (for a $25 fee per character, gee thanks), change your character's name to chase the harassers away (for just a $10 fee per character - what a bargain!) or for you to put offending players on 'ignore'. But we found all realms equally bad, and after

This is one of the most widely played MMORPG's. I have a 63 undead warlock. The past summer and fall has been spent doing nothing but playing this game. If your life includes socializing, responsibility, employment, children, romantic relationships, friends, pets, or family... then this game is not for you.

If you're bored with life and need something time consuming to replace your existance with... then this game may be for you.

Highly addictive, incredibly time consuming, 4 and a half stars.

World of Warcraft is a fun game for a first-time MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) player and for certain kinds of gamers. We'll refer to World of Warcraft in the abbreviated form "WoW" from here on out.

Before examining the Pros and Cons of WoW, there are a few things to keep in mind. First of all, know that WoW is not accurate when it comes to Warcraft history and background. This probably doesn't matter to the casual player or to younger gamers but to fans of the Warcraft RTS (Real-Time Strategy) series it can be very irritating. Second of all, keep in mind that WoW is very much a beginner's game in the sense that it's the first MMORPG that most people play. As such, the game includes a lot of children, teenagers, casual gamers and a higher percentage of trolls (griefers who like nothing better than to bother other people) than other games do. In short, the percentage of serious gamers is a bit lower than in other games in the genre. That having been said, we can

The game is beautiful...
The game is addictive...
Buyer Beware, the game will suck you into its clutches and refuse to let you out again.

That said, I love World of Warcraft. Just beware, Blizzard's idea of an average player's playtime is something similiar to a normal person's idea of an average part-time or full-time job.

Not just the shorthand title of the game, but also my thought while playing it. I honestly didn't think I would like the game after seeing friends play it, but now it is my main past-time in the house. If you like RPGs, and especially fairly open ended RPGs, you'll like this game. Couple it with a 60 day pass from here, and you can't lose. The cost isn't bad, and constant updates and add-ons to tailor the game how you want to play makes it perfect. My Tauren Druid and Undead Warlock are now mastering this player vs player world!

I resisted this game for a long time. I didn't like MMOs. I had played Ultima Online when it came out, thought it was awful; tried some EverQuest, didn't care for it. So I figured Blizzard's attempt suffered the same issues (namely, for me, annoying people), and was just something that could annoy me while waiting for a new, proper Warcraft/Starcraft/Diablo game. So, for about a year and a half I scoffed at the game and shook my head disapprovingly at people who were getting hopelessly addicted.

Then one lazy afternoon I was bored and got a free 10-day trial from my brother. See what the sensation was all about. At first, I remained skeptical, and annoyed at the levelling process (mostly because I had no idea what I was doing. Read a manual? Are you kidding?). But once I progressed and got into it, there was no going back. They had managed to fix the things I disliked about UO and EQ, add their own substantial contributions to the genre, and not only that, capture the rich world of Blizzard's
