Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: sounds good, looks good, inputs for just about anything
Cons: Nothing at this time.
I have always liked the yamaha name. Had a older receiver (5 or 6 years old) from yahama and had no problems with it. Just wanted to get a updated receiver with the hdmi pass-through. I have Klipsch floor tower speakers, Klipsch center with Bose surrounds and I can tell a big difference from my old receiver. Sounds great. Just need to upgrade my sub. Not impressed with the Bose sub.
The manual comes on a cd-rom. That will be a plus or minus for some people. It is a plus for me. Set-up was farely easy for me since it was basicly the same as my older one.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: Sound quality, elegance of the interface
Cons: Some learning curve to get it all working
My last receiver I bought in 1987, a JVC, and used it well. I wanted HDMI inputs and additional outputs, so finally upgraded. It took some time to get used to the programmable nature of the inputs, but now I am thrilled to have evything working so well.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: Ease of Setup, HDMI ports
Cons: Nothing to report at this time.
I purchased this receiver along with a plasma screen for Christmas. Had a Sony Receiver for ages and I am very happy with the quality but it didn't have HDMI. Talking with several Best Buy Reps on the different receivers, I opted for the Yamaha due to ease of setup. My speakers are a combination of Klipsch (front L/R), Cerwin Vega (sub), Polk Audio (center), and Panasonic (rear). I am not disappointed. Crystal clear quality. I can hear water dripping in the background.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: good price, great sound, plenty of features
Cons: No zone 2 volume control
I bought this to upgrade from another amp. I wanted a HDMI amp with multi-zone capability, and an IPOD dock. Very easy set-up. Instructions are on a CD, there is no book. If you want to use the multi-zone capability there is no volume control if you use a IPOD for the second zone. However if zone 1 and Zone 2 are the same input, you can adjust volume.
To have volume control in the second zone you would need a simple two channel amp for that zone.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
I purchased this to accommodate a new LCD HDTV and stream uncompressed and Dolby from my Blu Ray. Receiver is easy to use considering how much it does, and it sounds great. My only issue was that it didn't pass audio from AV1 when combined to Audio1 for my son's Wii player. Software said it was ok. AV2 and Audio2 worked.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: Easy set up, passive HDMI
Cons: nothing so far.
I love this receiver! I bought a Yamaha for a friend's Birthday a few years back and we really love the DSP and the pass-thru Hi-Def video (I tend to avoid S.D. video whenever possible, so I can't comment on any up-conversion tech). This model goes a step further with all those features + passive HDMI; All of my devices are plugged into it; PS3, Xbox, Mac mini, Cable box, I don't even have to turn the thing on to access my stuff! I'm not really concerned about attaching my iPod because my music also resides on my PS3's 320g hdd; however, for some that may be an issue. Yamaha requires a separate dock for 'Pod connectivity; If that's a deal-breaker for you, then look elsewhere. The receiver's on-screen menu is the icing on the cake; a child could navigate it. Overall... I'm more than satisfied.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: Outstanding sound. Great price. Easy access menu.
Cons: No manual. New unit so reliability is a question mark.
I bought this unit to replace a 2 year old Harmon Kardon AVR 354, that was having input switching issues, and the audio wasn't coming on when the unit was initially turned on, and power had to be cycled to get the audio to work. I was looking for an equivalent power output receiver, and after a lot of reviews shopping, settled on the AV-667BL.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: On screen display is the best I've seen on any receiver!
Cons: No paper manual, auto setup still lacking
My old receiver was a Harman Kardon AVR 635 that cost more than twice as much as this Yamaha. After years of freezing up and loosing settings I wanted something reliable with HDMI support that can match the great sound of the HK.
I bought this receiver blind based on reviews which I normally don't do but Best Buy has a good return policy so what the heck. Listening tests in their sound rooms will never let you know how it will sound in your room with your speaker setup.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: Easy to set up, sound
Cons: Automatic Speaker Setting
I bought this receiver based mainly on price and customer reviews, as well as the Yamaha brand recognition. I am very pleased with the set up and ease of operation. This unit provides so many functions I couldn't possibly utilize, but the capacitity is there for future add-ons. The sound is spot on and so crisp with so many sound aspects to choose from. The only problem I had was with the Yamaha automatic speaker adjustment. It kept "erroring" several times that I gave up. All of the speakers were working and wired properly since I was able to adjust the speakers manually. And I love the ability to scroll the functions on the TV monitor, especially with the added IPod dock. Awesome!

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: multi room, power, function
Cons: have not found anything.
I had worked in car and home audio install for 15 years and needed to replace my deceased pioneer receiver. we needed a reciever that had speaker outputs for more than one room, because our old one had an A-B speaker selector and our second set of speaker were on the wall in the kitchen.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: The Quality for the Price
Cons: Needs a better Manual
Great product, but make sure you have someone who knows how to handle AV equipment present. There is no manual, its only available on a CD provided, and its hard to search for what you want.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: Sound Quality and Feature Set
Cons: Additional Charge for Ipod dock and no paper manual
Bought this unit yesterday after a month of research. So far, I am VERY happy with the purchase. Set up was relatively easy, especially with the auto calibration feature on the unit. Sound quality is excellent, and it pushes my new Energy Take Classic 5.1 speaker system flawlessly!

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
Pros: Features and 6 HDMI / 2 Comp Inputs
Cons: Okay Pass through with Comcast box
I did major research and this one fits my main 3 Requirements:
1. HDMI pass-through (while it's off)
2. TWO Component INPUTs, not 1. Upscale my older XBOX360 (non HDMI) and Wii to 1080 P
3. 3D and Audio return, I have Samsung internet TV that benefits the Return since it can download movies.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver (OLD VERSION)
I've always been impressed by Yamaha products and this receiver is no exception. It's a 7.2 channel receiver that packs an insane amount of features into a modest price. Before I made the purchase, I called Yamaha's customer service guys and asked them a few questions and they were able to answer everything for me. I got right to a person who spoke English and they knew their products (and actually said they had a full lab for testing stuff). So I bought the receiver and hooked it up to my 3D TV setup, along with my Wii (component), X-box 360 (HDMI), DirecTV DVR (HDMI), Yamaha YDS-12 iPod dock and 3D Blu-ray player (HDMI). It was easy to install and I still have plenty of HDMI inputs left for future expansion. I ran the YPAO auto setup and it was over before I came back from getting a snack in the kitchen. It properly detected all of my 7.2 speakers and everything appears to be working as intended. I must say that I really love the onscreen GUI menu. It's an animated display that overlays on top of whatever I'm watching, including the 3D content from DirecTV and my BD player. I wanted a receiver with a powered Zone 2 so I could run a pair of speakers on my porch and this receiver handles that task no problem. Setup was easy, I just followed the PDF owner's manual that came in the box. I haven't tried the HDMI Audio Return Channel yet, but I do plan on using it in the future.
