Polk Audio PSW10 50 W RMS Woofer - Black
You Simply Can Not Beat This Sub-woofer At Anywhere Near This Price. I Was In Search Of A Musical Sub-woofer To Fill Out The Bottom End Sound With My NHT Super Zero Mini Monitors. I Love These Speakers, They Sound Very Natural And Throw A Huge Sound-stage, However, Aptly Named; Zero Bass Giving Up The Ghost At About 80hz-90hz. This Is Getting In The Mid-bass Area Of Music And Most Subs Just Don't Work Musically This High In The Frequency Spectrum. Let Me State That This Is Not Made And Doesn't Function Extremely Well As A Home Theatre Sub, I Use It While Watching Movies, However Isn't It's Strong Point. Don't Get Me Wrong, It Sounds Good, But While Playing Music, It Just Shines! Quick Response, Bass Drums Sound Clean And Tight, Bass Guitars, Lower Male Vocals, All Sound Natural And Amazingly Realistic. It Has Been Very Hard To Match A Sub To My Little NHTs, An Energy Es-8 Was The Closest I Have Ever Come To The Sound Quality Of This Polk, At More Than 3 Times The Cost, And The Polk Blows It Away. Hooked It Up, And Played With Placement And Volume. After Working It In For About 12 Hours Playing Music And Movies, The Sub Disappeared, Close Your Eyes, No More Speakers, I Had An Orchestra In My Living-room. I Have A Wide Range Of Musical Tastes And This Sub Could Produce Classical, Jazz, New Age, "techno", And A Lot Of Metal, Yes My Audiophile Friends, This Sub Played Metal And Classical Without Breaking A Sweat, Sounded Natural And Realistic The Whole Time. To Sum It Up, Unbeatable For The Price, You Just Can Not Find A Better Sub For Music, If You Pay 5 Times As Much On A High End Sub From A More "audiophile" Grade Company, You Can Probably Beat It. Remember, Not For Home Theatre. Thank You for reading this review, ~Rick

Polk Audio PSW10 50 W RMS Woofer - Black
I wanted to reduce the clutter my speakers imposed in our living room. I have a very excellent subwoofer that I paid about $600 for but I wanted to hide the subwoofer in the wall where I had the depth. Unfortunately, the sub I had used a downward firing woofer with a rear port - not gonna work. For $100 I thought I would take a chance after seeing the strong ratings and seeing that some reviewers were serious audio lovers and not just using it for TV. This unit was used in exactly the same setup as my older sub and I could not tell any difference. Very tight and fast which is what I look for, not "boom-boom". Because the Polk is 1) small and 2) both the woofer and the port are on the face, it met my criteria. Last night I cut the hole in my wall (after much anxiety) and also took the opportunity to run my speaker wires in the wall (about 2 ft of space in this wall due to a built in fireplace). I spray painted the front black to make it less intrusive (I hate silver - hence the 4-stars for appearance). I will need to make a custom grill cover but acoustically it sounds the same. WAF just went up a couple points for sure. Buy this and a pair of Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 SE's and you will have a phenomenal system for under $500. [...] You will here guitar and piano to make you cry. I don't know how Polk can make any money on these unless it is on volume. I am sure they must sell a bunch 'cuz it's that good.

I wanted a little more impact out of movies in my home theatre and saw the Polk PSW10 on your site. I currently have a Energy ESW8 powered subwoofer, but this product lacks the low end impact that I was looking for and that is why I purchased the Polk. From the moment I connected the subwoofer,I have been very pleased with it's features and performance. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to improve their sound in their system.

I recently had a Sony 100 watt subwoofer. Not very good quality, but I had a really limited budget when I bought it. So when it died I started checking Craigslist, Best Buy and a the lot. I happened to check Amazon and boy am I glad I did! This is a great sub for the money. I am using it in my home theater matched with Bose 201 fronts, Bose VM-100 center, and Infinity rears. I have a small movie room and this sub is perfect for it. The quality of construction, sound and proven durability of Polk Audio products (as I learned from other reviews and listening to them in the store) made this an easy decision at $89. I can't believe the quality for under $100. I listened to much more expensive subs and am happy to say this this one performs as well or better than most of them! Obviously there are bigger, better subs out there, but you can't touch anything like this in Best Buy without spending 3-4 times as much. I have never owned Polk Audio products in the past, but when it comes time to get some more gear, it will be on the top of my list. Great performance for anyone wanting a quality subwoofer while not breaking the bank.

If you're looking for an affordable sub that performs well for a decent surround sound setup, this is a great option. You won't find a better quality product in this price range. It definitely has plenty of power for my system, which includes an Optimus center channel and rear speaker and large three-way front channels. The auto on feature seems to kick in quickly enough that I don't notice a delay if I'm not looking for it. Bottom line, if you're not a finicky, high-end surround sound connoisseur, this should be what you need.

This subwoofer sound is exceptionally great. The subwoofer itself is kinda big, but I was still able to conceal it.

Polk Audio PSW10 50 W RMS Woofer - Black
Pros: Build, Black vinyl styling, wide frequency range
Cons: Boomy/Sloppy at times, hard to find sweet spot on volume dial, a little large
I purchased this sub several months ago, and at the time I guess it was 50% off. I only paid $99.99. I had initially gone in to get a Sony. I think the model was WA-2500. However, for the same price I could get Polk Audio's name. So, being somewhat label conscious, I sprung for the PSW10.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: The Sound
I purchased this sub and took it back after a few days.. I found it to be harsh and abrupt...there was nothing smooth about it at all. It reminded me of those darn cars driving down the street pumping the bass and all you get is vibration and BOOM! I took it back and purchased the $99 Sony....don't let the price fool you. The Sony was a lot more blending and smooth..nice bottom end.

Pros: 2 minutes to set up!
Cons: Nothing
I purchased this sub to replace an Acoustic Research sub. This sub is without a doubt a lot better then the one I replaced. I am using it with an Onkyo 7.1 receiver, A Bose VCS-10 center channel, Bose 301's for fronts and Bose 141's for surrounds. NOW I have a killer set up! This sub is easy to hook up and it does rattle the windows! The only thing I can say is go ahead and buy one, you WILL NOT be disapointed with the sound or the appearance!

Polk Audio PSW10 50 W RMS Woofer - Black
Pros: Great fit & finish, easy to set up and adjust
Cons: It is not best of breed, not much output at 40 hz, but again - grest value for $200
Once my DIY bandpass sub gave up the ghost, I contemplated finding the right replacement driver or a cheap temporary active sub-woofer. I was very pleasantly surprised with this little sub. I am driving a line level input through it and using the on board crossover set to around 120 HZ. the bandpass sub was stashed behind my entertainment racks but honestly this one is cute so I left it out in the room to corner load. I am a recording musician also and I find that when I play back my DAW-recorded 4 string bass tracks (Low E = 42 Hz) it sounds very natural and not stressed (I'm not claiming this to be pro audio, however - just for lower volume monitoring!). Movies and music sound natural and full. This is no longer a temporary replacement - I've lost interest in fixing my DIY sub altogether! Buy this, just remember that a sub-woofer is intended to add low end feel that is hard to localize. Some users don't get that. This sub, set properly, is a delight.

Polk Audio PSW10 50 W RMS Woofer - Black
Pros: sound
Cons: should be 150 not 200
What the h is an "lfe" input? RCA cables are the way to hook this up and you don't need to get a Y connector it won't make any difference. You can if you want but you won't hear any difference in the sound. It is not stereo it is mono.
