Garmin nüvi 3790T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
Pros: Acquires Satellites Quickly, Compact, Easy To Read, Easy To Setup, Large Screen, Reliable Performance, Simple Controls
The only slight negative are no included hard copy of other than the quick start manual. It only took me minutes to locate the online version, though. <br ><br >Good back-up for cycling unfamiliar back roads.

I like this product. Frustrated by the lack of instructions that explains the features. I had to go through each menu to find out how to get what I wanted from it. I still don't know how to search for a restaurant or service along the route without starting over. Or how to add a stop enroute. I'm believe these are possible, it will just take trial and error to discover.

Garmin nüvi 3790T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
Pros: The Applications, Views, Ease of Use and graphics
Cons: Pop-up Advertisements for Livewire links to traffic.
This Garmin Unit is the excellent choice for business and personal use. For those who need quick access to locations and fast uploads on highway exits, this is the choice you want. Remember your older products that gave you a GPS indication too late after you passed by? This one has multiple prompts to guide you through, to ensure you make the proper turn-off; so high speed traffic will not cause a mistake. The Voice Command is an excellent hands-free application to allow you to find a location, while driving. SAT Links are quick, even during inclement weather! Also, the alternate view application is a great feature for different approaches to your targeted location. The City view of large building structures for 3D precise locations is also an added plus. Don't forget about the Safety Stops and Speed Zone Camera features. These camera zone warning features are worth the price of the unit. The Safety Stop Camera, indicates what intersection will photo-license your tag if you go over the indicated stop line. The Speed Radar Cameras photo-license your tag, while driving through restriction areas. Knowing when you're approaching either is a must to avoid costly tickets, giving you optimum visual display and audio warning on approach whenever you are over a designated speed. If you need to drive busy city streets, this feature is a must as well as for long distance highway traffic. This 3790T is what will keep you moving safely and keep you out of trouble ;).

Garmin nüvi 3790T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
Pros: You can actually save money using it.
Cons: Takes some effort to setup.
The functionality is excellent; no longer do I have to guess which way is the best route for gas mileage. I also purchased the ecoRoute HD which plugs into my vehicles OBD II connector (On Board Diagnostics). This gives any diagnostics information (if required) as well as more accurate fuel economy readings and all engine gauges. An example of my savings is: There are two routes from my home to the Interstate; one is slightly further, but has fewer stop signals and speeds limit of 65 mph vs. 50 mph. I have always thought it was the most economical route. However, after checking both routes with my ecoRoute HD connected to my Garmin nuvi3790, I found it was costing nearly $1 more (round trip) taking my preferred longer route. Just that one finding will pay for the GPS and ecoRoute HD in less than two years. The nuvi3790 is easy to remove from it's windshield mount and it fits into your pocket so it can easily be used with the Pedestrian option for exercising (walking/jogging distances) or walking sights in cities. I would suggest the leather case accessory also.

Garmin nüvi 3790T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
Pros: Great featuer set, nice size.
Cons: Buggy when it works.
I've been a fan of nuvi for years and the feature set on this model are outstanding. However, I've had bugs with it crashing, losing maps and the inability to update software. I'm on my third one since July and it's starting to act up.<br />Maps are not as up to date as my iPhone apps.<br />Software on this version seems buggy. Likes to take me up residential back streets with lots of stop signs no matter what method of navigation I use (fastest, shortest or economy).<br />I still use this for keeping track of my time traveled but always use an iPhone backup or another GPS.<br />Tech support has bent over backwards to help, but so far I've yet to have this work properly long enough to trust it outside my local area.

Garmin nüvi 3790T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
Pros: Slim new design, crisp clean picture, fluid movement
Cons: Speaker on unit and mount not so hot.
I replaced my burnt out Nuvi 350 with the new 3790T about a month ago and i have been very happy with its performance. I love the new slim design and the updated features from my outdated model. The built in bluetooth is nice along with the voice command feature to keep you from fiddling with the device while driving.

Garmin nüvi 3790T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
Pros: Everything
Cons: Dont use pedestrian mode so I cannot speak to it.
I am replacing a Nuvi 780 and have owned 4 Garmin units now. For my money Garmin is the only way to go. While I would have prefered the 3790LMT the 3790T fills the bill with a quick lifetime membership to maps available on the Garmin home page for under $100. This is a feature rich unit. Works flawlessly with my bluetooth phone (IPhone). The voice command function takes no trainining I can find and works everytime I ask it to do something. It finds addresses and businesses and stops routing all without touching it at all. Yes it finds things behind you if you ask like for all gas stations but it is certainly easy to specify one thats ahead of you rather then behind on a trip. The screen has incredible resolution you have to see to believe compared to other highend models. The voice that gives you directions is clear and distinct, much better then earlier models. I find the daytime screen a bit jumbled with colors so I selected nighttime view only which shows a black background with the roads and route clearly marked for me. I could not be happier.

Garmin nüvi 3790T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
Don't buy this unit! I've been a loyal Garmin customer for over 10 years. Garmin advertises that its products are fully compatible with Mac's. I bought this GPS because of the city explorer maps and the glass touch screen. I registered it at the Garmin site and was offered a software update. That was it! The latest version of the software isn't compatible with a Mac. After paying $25 shipping to exchange units, I tried again; it failed again. Only then did Garmin admit that the software causes a problem with a Mac. From blogs, it looks like part of the code doesn't install. Now my computer won't recognize the Garmin when I attach it. Garmin customer service assigns a new person every time I email, and no one will take responsibility. Very frustrating. The screen is gorgeous but not worth the trouble, especially at this price.

Garmin nüvi 3790T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
Pros: Compact, viewable in bright daylight, fast routing
Cons: Long pauses between accepting touch-screen inputs. Unwanted ads.
I have owned and enjoyed using a Garmin StreetPilot C550 for several years. Nuvi 3790T is greatly improved for metro navigation, but not as easy to operate as the StreetPilot. The most irritating aspect is long pauses between accepting touch-screen inputs. You have to leave it alone and not touch the screen or it resets its timer and extends the wait! Then there is no indication that it is ready to accept an input. Annunciation is really improved and intersection assist is great. Very compact. I hope it is as reliable as the C550. I have not yet used the voice command or travel planning features.

Garmin nüvi 3790T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
The navigation in my 100k + (but 2004) car is.. so-so, no hand-off (voice recognition) and cell phone not hands. I've had Garmin & To-tom gps units and have been happy with both. A friend recently bought an 2011 BMW x5 as well as a 2010 Mercedes E350 (both the same week (( must be nice))) and I was impressed with the phone-gps-google maps traffic etc electronics... This unit looked like a solution. A lot about this unit is amazing and near perfect. It looks kool has a well made feel, the screens are bright and graphics outstanding... But most of the stuff out there ---including things for half this money are that good.. I really wanted hands off phone and that's sort of IFFy , because the voice recognition is iffy... which when I pop it into my Ford F-250 only mounts in a postion that I kinda have to stretch to reach.. The bigger immediate disappointment was the routes this thing was selecting Whew... iffy ---a few times the routes it choose made no sense --getting it to use the route I was traveling (and I know is best ) was not easy to sort out. The voice works near 100% when it is basic commands.. and you can actually choose some of them, which is kool as it makes them easier to remember and feels custom --- but the recognition on phone numbers was / is crap... my buddy is from Cheq Republic and that system gets it even through his somewhat thick accent. It is too frustrating to be called acceptable. Would I buy this again? No. Would I tell a friend to buy one ...not sure .. maybe with a disclaimer to lower expectations...

Garmin nüvi 3790T 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Traffic
Pros: screen resolution, bluetooth, easy to get going right away.
Cons: price, capture as a dash mount, speed limits not accurate.
After trying two other competitive units, this GPS clearly blows them both away. It is, as you will note a pricey unit thus, probably not for everybody.

After many hours of trying to transfer routes from MapSource to my new Garmin 3790T without success, I called support. I was told the new model doesn't have the capability of connecting to MapSource. They've had many complaints about it, and they will have a "fix" in the first quarter of 2011, I'm told. Would not have bought this model had I known this. Been using Garmin products many years on cars, airplane and boat. Very disappointed!

Appearance great....but bottom line is we dont judge a GPS device based on that. We judge it based on effectiveness for the most part. On a highway it recalculates during a straight ride for no reason. There is a chance you could miss an exit due to that. I gave it 4 stars, but was very close to give it only 3 stars due to the price.

This is my 3rd Nuvi and it is by far the best. Garmin has finally gotten the maps right in my area of rural Georgia. Works well in City and Country side. More intuitive and simple to use.

While we are not unfamilar with Garmin, this unit adds a new dimension to using a GPS. Travel is limited at the moment but since we bought a new vehicle, we decided to get a new GPS. We are begining our experimentation with the unit. We have yet to try the voice recognition or travel reception. We will update at a later time. So far so good. The other positive comments were used to determine which unit we were going to buy. I am not disappointed.
