HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn Laser Printer
Hewlett Packard

It's a great networkable printer...has a nice easy driver install as part of it, makes my life easier. Haven't had any issues with them and we have several kicking around.

Pros: Inexpensive way to get the job done and per page cost
Cons: nothing I can think of!
This printer is fast, I can print multiple copies (I'm a teacher, so class sets) in lightening fast time! I researched the printing cost and this is a great value, and great entry-level purchase price. In short, yes buy! No problems at all!!
...
Pros: Speed, duplex printing
The cost to me was under $100. It is the fastest printer I have ever owned. I love the ability to print on both sides, I use it all the time. Very happy with it so far.

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
This fast printer is very network friendly. We use it to print checks and other accounting documents on. No problems so far, and it doesn't use much electricity nor ink.

This is a quick, snappy, easy to set up printer. Using it on a business network and set up really easy. We use it to print a special report that needs to be quick to print and is a short two page item. Prints 50-200 pages per day. Had a big printer go down and had this one sitting there - dropped it in and it took the abuse for a few days until I could replace the big one. I would not recommend this for heavy job as stated in the duty cycle on the specs but for quick, light duty printing this is a good value

Pros: Fast, Quality, Double-sided Printing, Easy to Set Up, "Quick Cancel" Feature, Small Footprint
Cons: Nothing
I love laser printers for bulk printing and for everyday documents. Saves $$ on color ink cartridges for my color printer. Not everything needs to be printed in color. I had an HP4L for 12 years and it gave great service. I was ready to update for speed, quality and compatibility with my new computer. After reading many online reviews of the HPLaserJet Pro P1606dn (from sources other than Best Buy) I decided to buy it and it has been great. I now get my first copy in the time that the old printer took to just warm up. It delivers an instant copy. The quality is great and unlike the previous reviewer, I have not had the first problem with two sided printing or any paper jams. In addition, this printer was very easy to set up. From the time I opened the box to printing my first page was about 10 minutes. I also like the "instant cancel" button on the top corner of the printer. Let's say you accidentally hit print on a 30 page document before you realize that you did not specify that you wanted only one page of the document. With my old laserjet, there was no way to cancel the document and you ended up wasting 30 sheets of paper. With this new P1606dn, you just hit the "instant cancel" button and the printing stops very quickly. I could not be happier with this printer. It would be perfect for a home business or just personal use.

Pros: Fast Print Time
I bought this printer from HP telling them I had a windows 7 (HP) computer. It would not print duplex without printing the reverse page upside down. I called help desk 3 times and got no help whatsoever, spending hours on the phone, trying everything they suggested. I was called by a "case manager," a snippy woman who said she was too busy to give me the help I needed. I called help desk again for a fourth time, this time after another 1 hour 50 min was told that there was a glitch in the program so that it does not work duplex with windows 7, and I should look in another month or two to see if HP has written a new program for this machine. No they would not notify me when this program is done, neither the help desk nor the snippy case manager. I should just keep looking at their site. It works on my old XP Pro machine. HP is HORRIBLE about notifying their support staff when they have a programming problem; this is the second time something like this has happened to me with an HP product.

I recently read a review in which the writer stated that most reviews are written by people who have a bad experience with the product being reviewed. I have come to believe that is correct. That is why I have started reading negative reviews with suspicion and believe that most of the negative esperiences are due to operator error. This printer was the easiest to set up and start printing of all of the printers that I have used in the past 20 years. I was printing within 15 minutes of having plugged it in. The review that says the printer comes without a starter toner cartridge is in error. It may be that the particular printer that he/she received was not packed properly and consequently did not have a starter cartridge. The review that references paper jams is probably due to operator error. The first printing that I did was duples and the printer operated like a champ.

I don't know if it's defective, but of the dozens of printers I've used, this is by far the noisiest. It's intolerably noisy and will be returned to AMZ as defective.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Paper jams, poor customer support
Just got this printer, and the paper jams every time double-sided printing is used. Multiple calls to HP support were a big waste of time. I've used HP printers for years, but I will try another brand after this frustrating experience.

The printer just arrived and the paper jams every time double-sided printing is used. I called HP support and was told that someone from hardware support would call me back "within 15 minutes." They never called back. I called HP support again, and after a long time on hold was told this time that a "supervisor" would call back within 24-48 hours. A defective product and the run-around from customer service - very frustrating! I will not be buying any more HP printers.

I had read decent reviews for this printer before my purchase. None did it the justice it deserves! Installation was as easy as it gets (really "plug n play" with a USB cable - not supplied). I did not network this printer, but can't imagine it would be any more difficult than other HP printers to network. I've printed over 500 pages so far. Print quality is outstanding for both documents and graphics. Speed is amazing. I often have to open and print .doc file attachments in multiple emails. From the time I click print, close the document, close the email, the page is done printing before I can open the next email. Sleeps fast and quiet, awakes immediately with no warm up wait. The duplex feature will save paper and increase speed of printing multiple page documents. Even the replacement toner is reasonably priced. What's not to love? Highly recommend!!

The printer looks good, prints fast. I installed on the network using the instructions and it was painless and easy following the directions. The package doesn't have information on how to print envelops and I'm guessing it's pretty straightforward, but a bit more instructions would be good. The bad and it's kind of bad, is the print quality. You can see the dots at 1200 dpi and it's definitely really bad at 600dpi. I'm also not sure about how long the toner will last but supposedly it's only around 1200 sheets, making the cost per page pretty high. But for the price it's not bad, and given there are ink refills like this that I might try: HP P1606 High Yield Black Toner Refill Kit for HP LaserJet Pro P1566 P1606 P1606D P1606N P1606DN CE278A Printers and Cartridge.*We Recommend the Toner Refill Tool with this product* And it does duplex, which was an important consideration for me.
