this is one of the best games I have experienced on the ps2 does not get boring at any part through the game, loads to get through and takes longer than your average game. A must buy for ps2 especially at such a low price. Watch out for god of war 3 of ps3 will be just as good and so much more I bet and hope!!!

If you enjoyed the first God of War, you will enjoy this one much more. It is nearly flawless. No other game on the PS2 can match the gameplay and the graphics of this game.

This is a very fun game, I love the scenery, I loved looking at Kratos, the game was challenging but not ridiculously hard. Definitely get this game if you're looking for a game you can have hours of great fun!

I played of GOW and knew right away when the announced the release of GOW 2 that I had to buy it. I was not disappointed at all. The gameplay is smooth and they added a few new features from the first one (Gliding, new secondary weapons and powers). The gameplay is similar to the first GOW with new combos, but you still have to build up your weapons with the blood points you collect. If you liked the first one, this is a MUST buy. I can't wait for the third one.

God of War 2 PS2 continues the God of War series in high energy epic style. You are still a powerful warrior, still taking on the various gods in a quest for survival and power. I've seen many sequels over the years. Often they are awful - just trying to get more money for the exact same product. I'm really happy to say that the God of War team did a great job here with God of War 2. They really listened to feedback, worked on their game and created a new version that is even better than the original. The graphics are just stellar. Sweeping movements, detailed backgrounds, action-filled situations. It's still a little dark for me - in terms of hard to see. You can make a game seem rich and dangerous without having it be a foggy gloom. Still, I appreciate their artistic intent here. The vocals are stunning. They've won numerous awards for this series and they are well deserved. Epic, beautiful to listen to. The game really draws you in. From the very first second you are immersed in

GoW II is definitely a good action game and so was the first. However, after playing the first one, the sequel is a disappointment. The biggest letdown is the story. It is just as epic as the first, but so much more ridiculous.

This game has a great story that sets up perfectly for God of War 3. The gameplay is awesome and after i beat it I just wanted to keep playing. The graphics are amazing for a PS2 game.

This game is awsome. I have played all God of War games and beat everyone of them. God of War is my favorite game of all time. The monsters and creatures are cool. It keeps you wondering what is goin to happen next. It really dont matter what type of games you like. You will like God of War!

This is one of the greatest PS2 games I have played, I am traveling and bought a PS2 to play while away and the graphics in the game have impressed me and at home I have a PS3 and HDTV.

this game is great overall, the game is a straight up action hack and slash game with nothing to get in the way, fast paced and some battles are remarkable in the way they are executed. the game does have nudity and gore, and the difficulty is probably to difficult for younger children if you let your kids play this sort of thing. overall great game.

This was one of the best games I have ever play. I finish this game in a month or less normaly it takes me longer when the game is not so good. lol. I recommend this game to everyone I really do. =D

After waiting several years to purchase the first GOW. Reason it took so long. I had the wrong idea of what type of game it was, but found out what it really had to offer through some blogs. I was immediately hooked. So I couldn't wait for part II to come out. It met my needs and exceeded them. The new weapson was awesome and the challenages was up to par. Not much to complain about. Some of the briain teasers kept me hung up at times. Above all its one of those games that have awesome graphics and so much to offer. So purchase it and ENJOY!

God of War II is a truly epic game. With hours and hours of "ownage" moments, it's a game you can really get into. Great fighting and action sequences, awesome boss battles, and a difficulty level for anyone. If you want a great game with a ton of action, you can't pass this one up!

i really like the game. i just got it yesterday. the graphics, gameplay, cut-scenes, etc. are all awesome. the only thing i do not like are the boss battles because of the button combos you have to do when their health is low enough.

This game will have you fighting small monsters in the skies over the
Mediterranean sea, fighting a giant and multi-story Colossus of Rhodes, avoiding a massive titan as you grab the treasures you need, and killing hordes of Kratos-sized creatures who want your head. The variety will keep you on your toes for the entire game.
The combat features grappling, close range melee, long range melee, and projectile based. All of which can be upgraded and improved over time which lets you adapt your Kratos to fight the way you want without leaving you helpless in any certain situation.
There are a number of hidden treasures that will allow you to unlock hidden powers for your second play through, which is more fun than it sounds. They come in the form of costumes and jars which offer very humorous modifications of combat.
The cheap spots have been fixed, for the most part, but there are still some every once and a while. I wouldn't let those bother you though, they

The more I think about it, the more I hope the creators of the next Castlevania game take a page from this series. I liked the last couple that have come out, but they never really got the hang of a 3D environment or shown the grand scale of what Dracula's castle could be since the side scrolling days. Kratos' weapon is pretty much a whip anyway! Konami! TAKE NOTICE! COPY GOD OF WAR!!! This game is awesome. That is all.

I have played and replayed this game three times so far and it is PERFECT!!!! its challenging, bloody, beautiful, and all around fun. I can't recommend this product enough! Im in the process of trying to get my bf to buy it so he can see how great it is also. My sister plays and loves it and it is just a great game.

There were small things keeping God of War from being an entirely fluid experience, and yet it was still a blast to play. God of War II effectively eliminates these issues, and -- unless you've already had your fill of Square-Square-Triangle combos -- this title is one of the best overall action experiences you'll find.

Its focus is on making sure you don't have to work incredibly hard to feel like you're unstoppable (at least on normal difficulty). What makes up for this lack of challenge, though, is the sheer entertainment value of feeling in control of every slash of your blade in creating a massive multi-hit combo that lays waste to the fools around you. bt ps2 game ever. not better than most ps3 games, but better than some. i heard they're making god of war 3. god of war just has so much surprises and cool gameplay moves. i love the giant mosters that you have to face and all the puzzles. but to tell the truth, i couldnt figure out some. but this is the best game ever

If your new to the series go ahead and buy the first two games since they are less costly than most games on the market today. The presentation of the game is amazing especially if you have a great entertainment setup (which i dont). The game is quite challenging as you progress but nonetheless it's fun to thrash countless enemies over and over again. The storyline and gameplay intertwine in the most mindblowing way as well. The graphics are amazing. It never gets old, always stays challenging, and if you should die, you'll love tearing through hundreds of enemies again and again attempting to reach the end boss. The sound is incredible for those who have HT sound systems.

This game is great!! The action is fast but not overly hard, but at hte same time not 7y/o easy. Can play the whole game in a day (if you have a LOT of free time) or spread it out and TONS of replay value!! Quality of game+ price= BUY THIS GAME!!!

THIS GAME IS AMAZING. i played this game through about 5 times before it got boring, and this is not a short game. it would be cool if you could buy both games in a dual pack though. EVERYTHING ABOUT THESE GAMES ARE AMAZING.

I love this game. I really liked the first God of War game, but this one is even better! The only section of my rating that didn't get 5 stars was the "Suitability for All Ages" section. I put 2 stars there because while it would probably be OK for early teens, my kids are 7 and 9 and definitely not OK for them, in my opinion. But having said that, this game is not for them, it's for me and I think it has great play, awesome graphics and an engaging storyline. A great buy, especially for the price!

God of War games are the best thing thats happened to the ps2. I hope I see some of it on the ps3 so that it is a better expeirence to the player.If you got $20 go out and buy this game, unless you havnt played #1 yet then buy that one too.

This game will suck you in real quick..I thought the first one was awesome but this one takes the cake!! I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a great action game...this game would be a great movie!!! You will never get tired of this game no matter how many times you play it. This game is absolutly intense... The demons and creatures in this game will blow your mind... The creativity is undescribable. The graphics are great and it almost looks real, very good for ps2.

WOW! I thought the first God of War game was awesome. When I just started playing this game, the graphics along with the sounds and the little cut scene just added to the all around awesome entertainment of the game.

God of War 2 is amazing. In every sense it surpasses the high expectations which were set for it in God of War 1. The story is superior, the combat is superior and somehow the graphics are even superior. It has some of the best artistic direction I have ever seen in a game as well, some of the levels are mind blowlingly awesome. It has a lot more boss battles then first, I think about 9 if I remember correctly, and is a bit longer and took me about 12 hours to beat the first time around and 6 and a half the second. You get a lot of video content with the bonus DVD which is pretty awesome and all and all it's a very sweet deal. I reccomend you buy this.

If you are looking for blood and war... this would be the perfect game for you. From weapons to magic, the story line and the game it self. I could'nt sleep until i finish it even im so tired from work... this is where i unleashed my fury. I just can't wait for the next sequel of this game the GOW3 unfortunately i hope they will also have version for PS2 coz i heard that they will only release it on a PS3 version if they do so (SONY PLEASE PAY ATTENTION) i will be a unhappy Sony customer. Please reconsider to have a version on ps2 COZ I love my playstation so much and the game aswell and i dont want to dispose such beautiful and magnificent console and game you have made... KUDOS to the staff of the GOW!

This game is pretty much the best hack and slash games of all time. The graphics are amazing for a ps2 game and your ps2 will be breaking a sweat because there are no loading screens, jumps straight to action. The invisible walls aren't much of a problem but can get kind of frustrating when you can't jump on an object but clearly you can reach it. Great buy.

Remember how crazy GoW1 was? This is even CRAZIER! Only once in a while will you have so much fun playing a game, and this game is one of these games. Truly un-matched, ultra fun to play, action is insane, and boss fights are SICK! I still play this game. Go buy it NOW!

This is the only game I have ever played that I just couldn't put down. It's got all the blood and gore that you need and is littered with puzzles needed to advance to the end. It will really make you think and I would like to note that most of the characters and their personalities are historically accurate with Greek mythology. This is hands down my favorite game for the ps2 console and I hope that a third is made.

Kratoas is even better and badder than before in this sequal to GOW (God of War). In GOW 2 you have all new abilities and an even better story line. Probably my favorite new ability is the Golden Fleece or the Spear of Destiny. The golden fleece was probably the most helpful new abily in the game because of how you can use it to fend of enemies. I beat this game in two - three days and once I beat it, I played it again and again. I have beaten the fisrt game five times and plan on beating this one even more times because it is so much better. I didn't think that the co-director of GOW one was going to be able to make GOW 2 without David Jaffe, but he did it, and he did it well. I just can't wait for GOW 3 in late '08 or sometime in '09!! David Jaffe is taking over again for the PS3 version and it is going to PWN. Not only will the blue-ray make the game graphics even better than they are now (which are amazing for PS2) but the six axis is going to be FUN!!! But ya, definatly buy this game,

Nothing has the same feel of a God of War game and nothing ever will compare to God of War 2. The story line is one of the greatest ever created from sudden to plot twists to intense scenes that will leave you breathless. God of War 2, the game that kept the PS2 in the console wars even after the 360 was released. Prepare yourself for a truly unforgettable adventure.

THis game has some of the greatest action sequences, fights, and CG cutscenes I have ever seen. It also has some of the most torturously idiotic puzzles that filled me with boredom. It's not somthing Iwould pay full price for, but it's worth checking out if action is your thing

When I first heard about the original God of War, I thought it was just anohter over-hyped title for the PS2. Boy was I wrong, and never had I been so glad to be wrong. It was a masterpiece ... a legendary game that will be forever idolized. When I heard about GOW2, I thought it would be nigh-impossible to do it again. Once again, I was more than happy to be wrong. This sequel is even more intriguing, and in may respects, better looking than the original. (If you haven't played the original one, I would DEFINITELY recommened you play it first, however.) Not to take anything away from the first GOW, but they somehow have managed to improve upon a nearly perfect game just that much more. The ONLY downside is, now that I have been playing XBOX360 titles for some time, going back to a PS2 game like this makes the graphics not quite as impressive. However, when you think about the hardware it is producing these graphics on, you are amazed once again. And especially once you get into the game.

The internet comic "Penny Arcade" said it best..."All other games are the joke...God of War is the punchline." This is by far the best game I have ever played. A mixture of bloody action and puzzle solving, God of War II did the impossible by perfecting perfection. This game is what made my purchase a Playstation 2. This game is comporable only to Halo. The environments are extremely reactive and graphically beautiful, giving the player a very epic feeling to the character's journey. If I could only keep one Playstation 2 game to every play again, it would be God of War II.

I never played God of War I but my friend keptsinging its praises. I decided to jump into II, I have not regretted it yet. This is an awesome game and well worth the 40 bucks. I was dissapointed it is not on PS3 but it does not matter much. Buy this game.

Minotaur’s, Pegasus, and demons, oh my! Best Greek Mythology game I ever played on PS2. Sounds are on point. Details of rooms are spectacular. Puzzles are unique to escape rooms. Fighting skills are a nice upgrade from the first installment of GOW I.

I think this game was amazing. The landscapes were done fabulously. I also like the references to Greek Mythology. If you like action adventure game and own a PS2 this is a must play/own. It is far superior to GOW 1. play it, enjoy it, beat it.

The follow up to the first exciting installment of God of War series does not disappoint! God of War II manages to keep all of the best parts of the first game including the innovative game play and the near cinematic feel and expands further on them making it a very enjoyable game from the start.

One of the biggest additions to this sequel is Krato's ability to fly. It adds another dimension to the gameplay and keeps things mixed up so you don't feel like you're playing the exact same game over again.
Only thing I didn't like about this game is the cliff-hanger ending. I hate it where you spend hours trying to reach the goal of the main character and the game just ends. Just makes all you did in the game seem meaningless. Oh well, just have to wait for God of War 3.

This is one of the best game that I have played on the PS2. The fighting is intense throughout the game and the puzzles are fairly challenging. The boss battles are very tough until you can find each boss's weakness. This game is a must have for everyone who owns a ps2.

God of War II is better than the original God of War in that you have new weapons and new powers. You can even fly!!! The monsters have been re-made into new forms that have been artfully made more deadly. The story line continues from GW1 seamlessly and leaves you hanging expectantly anticipating for the next release of God of War 3

Best graphics I've ever seen on the PS2. The game is relatively short, but unlike GOW1, this game has tons of extras. The CGI movies are extremely well done, and the story is very gripping (and educational) :) )

If you own a PlayStaion 2 or 3, do yourself a HUGE favor and pick this game up. You will not be disappointed at all. This has everything a great game has, and more! Do NOT pass this game up.

This game is the sequal to one of the best platform games of all time God of War. The game has amazing graphics, and a great storyline. The game-play is solid however very hard and tedious at times. Also, the game has superb voice acting, making you want to listen to the story. I strongly reccomend this game to anyone who wants to be entertained for many hours, enjoy.

This game is flat out incredible. Any of you who have played the original God of War can pretty much just pick this game up and dive right in. The controls and the fight mechanics are pretty much the same. And anything new is explained in a 5 second tutorial. The levels are huge and the game itself really feels epic. The puzzles aren't challenging enough to be frustrating and strike a good balance with the action in the game. And with HD support, this game looks fantastic.

This game shows what the PS2 can do when it gets put to the limit. The story is epic and on a larger scale than the first. There are new moves, new weapons, new enemies. Everything about this game is amazing, and while playing it, you truly get to unleash all that is badass about Kratos. The boss battles that made the first one so enjoyable are back with a few more. If you loved the first, there is no way you will be disappointed.

God of War II was unbelievable. I was really happy with my purchase. The game gives you at least a couple days worth of gameplay if you play for a few hours a day and after you beat it you have access to the harder difficulty settings which are really challenging. The gameplay is similar to the first with cooler moves and cool puzzles to solve. The best part of the game has to be the storyline, it lines up with the first game and adds a whole other dimension to the story. It also sets you up for a possible third game, which would be awesome. I love it! Would recommend this to anybody. Greatest game series in a long time!

I loved the first God of War so I had to pick this one up. I was not dissapointed.
This game folows in the footsteps of the first, and takes the epic battles and collossal backgrounds to a whole new level. While fun to play, this game is even fun to look at. Everything is done in such great detail.
It is shorter than the first but it is worth every penny. There are a lot of cool extras as well. I highly recommend this game.

Got a PS2 gathering up dust in your room? Well wipe that dust off and play GOW2. Set in ancient Greece it passes its predecessor (GOW) in looks, game play and fun. The puzzles in this game will literally baffle you for hours. And to be honest, tearing out a cyclops eye never looked so good on tv. The graphics are beauteous from the island of Rhodes to the fight scene with Zeus. I hope the GOW series lasts very, very long. Bottom line: a must buy for any PS2 gamer.

The rich mythological actioneer with flavors of capcom combo rich environment bring GOW to life again! With amazingly reasonable load times with satisfying battles that dont get boring with the array of innovative puzzles. If playstation 2 is set to end soon, this game doesnt show any sign of slacking off. If you liked part one, it only gets better.

THe game graphics are one of a kind. I can comfortably say that there is no game on PS2 that has better graphics than God of War 2.
The gameplay is awesome. There are tons of battle combinations and it is just up to you be creative with them. Also, there are amazing weapons and the whole setting of the game follows the Greek Mythology theme so there are places you'll get to and you immediatel feel familiar. For example, when you see Zues in the game, without being old, you already know its Zeus.
The game is also long which gives you the value of your money. I dislike games that are easy to be. God of War 2 is not one of those games. There are puzzles along the way that really require some deep thinking to overcome.

God of War (GOW) was the ultimate platform game on the PS2. Before the advent of the new PS3 the developers of GOW had decided to go for a PS2 release sequel of the genre defining game. This 3D platform renaissance started with the PS1 Bruce Willis vehicle `Apocalypse' and was improved on with the jaw dropping Devil May Cry. Puzzle play enhanced by Shadowman 2. GOW was not only one of the best PS2 games of 2005, but is a big PS2 game, lasting about a week with at least two or three full days play in there. GOW set the standards very high. God of War 2 offers more than just another storyline featuring the signature Spartan. The game has 13 boss fights featuring even more intense, gruesome combat, new god powers that reek new havoc, and more detailed graphics and enemies, allowing for a truely realistic gaming experience. If you've got a hidden bloodlust in you, God of War 2 may be the game you've been longing for. This game will make you proud to own a PS2.

I'll be honest. I don't like American games much. That may isolate me from many gamers out there, but I just like the flare and over the topness(a word?) that a great Japanese game can deliver(Resident Evil 4 anyone?).
Well, God Of War 2 is an American game, and delivers far beyond what i'd expect from many games in it's genre from here or Japan.
The graphics are amazing for PS2(especially if your TV supports Progressive Scan). The sound is great. And the gameplay is fun and addictive.
Kratos' moves are still as wild and violent as they were from the first game, but there are more puzzles and other things to mix it up this time around. There are Pegasus levels that you have where you travel from one place to another. They are done if the view of, oh say, Star Fox. They are a blast to play, and made me wish they had more of them in the game. Everything is well executed in this game, and the boss battles are so over the top, that sometimes you're just like "how the hell am I going to

I'll admit, like most of the reviewers you'll read from here, I'm quite biased. I played through the original God of War multiple times and loved it. I find this game just as exemplary as it's prequel in being a practically perfect fantasy hack n' slash platformer. This game will go down in history as the PS2 game that consistently outsold other games for next-gen consoles for several weeks straight. There's a good reason for that, it's brilliant.
Story 5/5: The developers are cheating here. They are drawing from the most famous works of Greek Mythology to provide the player with a rich universe of jealous and fallible Gods at war with one another. Many of the scary beasties from the era show their ugly faces here, some with new twists since the first game. You'll face gorgons, satyrs/fauns, cerberi, cyclopes, and even other classical greek heroes like Theseus, Perseus, and Jason. I won't ruin the story except

Pros:
- Fast-paced continuation of story from the first game and good plot twists. Despite the success of the first game, very, very few developers have explored mythology to this extent for game content, which is a shame.
- New weapons, updated weapons, and weapon combos offer huge amounts of action. You feel like you can do pretty much anything with the weapons Kratos has.
- Multi-dimensional puzzles and platform style gameplay inject lots of variety into the game.
- Good mix of story, action, and puzzles keeps the game fresh.
- Nice unlockable content adds some replay value to the game.
- Enormous sense of scale makes the game all the more larger-than-life.
- Proves that the PS2 can still deliver the goods graphics-wise, and makes me question why it took developers so long to deliver games on DVD format when the PS2 supported DVD format at its launch 7 years ago.
Cons:
- Camera Angles: I think they're worse than the first game. Found myself on numerous levels getting behind monsters
