great keyboard, bad mouse

The left and right scroll built into the scroll wheel makes it close to impossible to click the scroll wheel button. I tried reassigning the left and right scroll buttons to server as the middle click button (a cheesy fix, but something i was willing to live with), but Logitech does NOT allow these buttons to have this particular functionality. I can reassign the buttoms to just about any other functionality, except the one I actually want. I emailed Logitech, and they said the request would be sent on to the appropriate team. I'm not keeping my fingers crossed. They didn't sound like it would be addresed any time soon.

The keyboard works well. I had the previous model that was incompatible with Windows Vista. That was the only reason I upgraded =(

pros: (1) both keyboard and mouse have ergonomic design. (2) both are very responsive with no lag whatsoever. (3) laser mouse is smooth as butter. (4) 5 yr warranty gives me a peace of mind on my investment. (5) when you standby or shut down your pc - the mouse and keyboard will also power down to save battery life. (6) the desktop is usb plug and play without needing any drivers / software.

cons: (1) mouse battery life is poor. the battery slot has space for 2 AA s but even if you put in only 1 AA battery - the mouse will work fine. with only 1 battery, mouse will be powered for 3 weeks. with two batteries, mouse will be powered for 6 weeks. (2) mouse is heavy with two AA batteries. i too laughed at a review for saying this but after 8 hrs of daily use i also agreed. (3) the media buttons of the keyboard are very small. (4) a total of 9 keys e.g. insert, delete, page up / down, print screen etc are unconventionally placed. (5) the right shift button is very small. (6) lights for the

cons: (1) mouse battery life is poor. this is the deal breaker. the battery slot has space for 2 AAs but even if you put in only 1 AA battery - the mouse will work fine. battery life is 1-3 weeks per battery depending on the quality of the battery e.g. dollar store vs expensive duracell. to clarify, this is an issue only for the mouse. the keyboard has good battery life.(2) mouse is heavy with two AA batteries. i too laughed at a review for saying this but after 8 hrs of daily use i also agreed.
