Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
Pros: Extremely reliable on any surface.
Cons: Side buttons take some getting used to, activate too easily.
The blue light tracking technology of this mouse really works well. It will track on any surface, which is essential for laptop use. The unit is light, sturdy and easily stuffed into the laptop carrying case. I personally would rather not have the two buttons on the upper section of the sides. They are too easy to activate accidentally when grabbing the mouse.

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
We got this mouse with the intention of using a corded mouse for work. We waited until after Christmas to open the mouse and it was terrible from the first click. Every time we touched/clicked on the right click of the mouse, it squeaked. Clearly the spring was faulty and needed to be replaced. The click of the mouse is also extremely loud and hard to push down.

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
Pros: Price
Cons: everything else
Purchased this mouse on 10/16/2011 for a new gaming rig I built last week. I wanted a corded mouse for the precision and responsiveness I desired that a cordless mouse generally lacks. Here is what is wrong with this mouse:

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Too loud clicking, and arch too high for no comfort
Each and every click is so loud that I would expect from a lower priced item or no name. I have never had a mouse that was this loud clicking and each time it is very annoying. Also not comfortable at all. Has a high arch and after a while using it hand actually hurts.

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
OK, normally I love my microsoft mice. And after my last micro optical mouse wore out i went to go get the newest version. It is this one, the 4500 comfort mouse. It feels nice, looks nice, has some extra buttons and features. And while the thumb and fore finger side buttons can too easily be engaged and accidentally all to often, you can turn them off by downloading the software. But that is not why I give this mouse only 1 star. Its primary function is to engage the main left and right mouse buttons. I can live without all the little fringe buttons and features as long as it's primary function is carried out successfully and to my satisfaction, and this is where this mouse fails. Like someone else said, the buttons are SO DAMN LOUD! It is almost like using one of those high pitched dog clickers to train your dog with. Except your constantly clicking over and over and over. I cringe every time I click one of those buttons. How did this even make it through testing? There is no way I can keep using this mouse. Its going back in the box tomorrow and I'll be getting something else.

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
Pros: Everything
Cons: Center wheel button is hard to press,
The Bluetrack technology is excellent for first person shooter games. Quick and accurate.<br />The cord is nice because I don't have to worry about batteries<br />The black part of the mouse feels and grips like rubber<br />It is very comfortable<br />The button clicks are very defined and make an audible click when pressed. You may like this or you may not.<br />The scroll wheel does not click, bump or have any resistance.<br />The scroll wheel button takes some force to push down. It can sometimes be cumbersome to push without scrolling the free spinning wheel.

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
After about two months of use, I can safely recommend this mouse. How much is there to say about a mouse? I guess the less you have to say, the better it is. Plugs and plays with no issues - I have plugged it into at least 3 different Windows machines so far and had it recognized immediately - being a Microsoft product, you would hope so, but I'm still impressed by how quick and painless it is. Once it's up and running it never gives you any issues. I went with wired over wireless for maximum responsiveness and accuracy, and I'm glad I did. There is no lag at all with this mouse, which is probably my favorite thing about it. I have since used mice on other people's computers only to be annoyed by the half second delay between movement and response. This is a quick and accurate mouse. The scroll wheel itself works fine, though I agree with the other reviewers that the push-down button part of the wheel does not work well - fortunately, I rarely use this feature so it doesn't bother me. The back-and-forward buttons are nice for web browsing. The black and silver color scheme is classy and professional. It looks great with the rest of my hardware, which is all black/silver/charcoal. I do also agree with the comment that it is a little high, and thus probably not ideal from an ergonomic perspective, which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. I do feel some strain on my wrists after prolonged use, but it's hard to say how much is from the mouse and how much is from typing. All in all, a very solid wired mouse at a reasonable price. 4 stars.

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
I have used many Microsoft mice over the years and have been happy with all of them. This latest offering from Microsoft has been quite disappointing. The mouse itself is extremely comfortable to hold. The overall weight and size is just right for a desktop mouse. The rubbery texture along the size is also very nice. My initial impression with mouse was very positive. That is, until I started using it. There are two side buttons and they are very easy to press. These two buttons are located right where you would normally rest your ring finger (same for either hand). As I moved the mouse around, my ring finger would constantly activate the right side button accidentally, with the slightest pressure. I had to download and install the Intellipoint software so I could deactivate that button. Otherwise, depending on the software you're using, that side button defaults to various functions. Another really annoying thing is the sound of the main left and right buttons. I usually don't notice mouse button sounds, but the clicking sound from these buttons can be heard from down the hall. It has also annoyed people I converse with on Skype. Another complaint is the scroll-wheel button. It is very stiff. This is a problem with a lot of other mice though. I have reassigned the middle click to the side button so I can use my thumb. Pro: - Very comfortable to hold - Configurable if you install Intellipoint software Con: - Side buttons are too easy to press accidentally due to bad location - Scroll wheel is very stiff to press down - Main left and right buttons are ridiculously loud

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
While I've found most of Microsoft's peripherals to be perfectly usable, I can't say the same for this new "Comfort" Mouse---the product's name implies one thing but the reality is far, far off. The mouse feels very light and cheap for the price, but the worse aspect is the stiffness of the buttons, especially the wheel button. The mouse is also a little higher than I expect, which doesn't do any good for my carpals.

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
Pros: Nice design shape, smooth scrolling, BlueTrack
Cons: Left button squeaks, wish it were little larger
I've had this just under a month. Last week the left mouse button developed a new squeaking sound when clicking, not always but most of the time. I expected more from this and am not sure if I'm going to try again with a replacement or just pick something else.

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
Pros: This mouse is now the most advanced wired mouse due to the BlueTrack technology.
Cons: Wheel lacks click motion
For some reason Microsoft is heavily favoring smooth scroll wheels. Unfortunately Microsoft doesn't make a good smooth scroll wheel. I prefer a mouse with the tactile response of a click wheel.

Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500 Mac/Win USB
Pros: feel of it. smoothness of scrolling. affordable price. customizable buttons.
Cons: nothing as of yet.
I just got this mouse. I saw nobody else wrote a review, so I decided to pitch in. All in all, this is a very good mouse. The instructions said I would need to download and install the software for the scroll wheel. Turns out, I didn't even need to, it just did it by itself. The mouse is Bluetrack, so it's like a laser mouse, but a blue laser instead of a red one. The buttons on the side feel nice, and if you don't customize them, they can be used as a forward or back button, like the ones on an internet browser. The mouse is smooth when it scrolls, a lot better than my old trackball, not to mention that the scroll wheel is also very responsive and smooth. It says it's not compatible with 64 bit Windows XP. I don't know what it means by 64 bit, but obviously it works fine with mine. I highly recommend buying this mouse.
