The Epson Expression 10000XL Graphic Arts Scanner performs perfectly. It's well worth the cost. I'm an artist and among other things, I do a lot of sketching. I prefer a hard graphite pencil, which creates a very light mark. Every other scanner I'd tried to archive my work with (all under $200) have failed to accurately duplicate my fine line work. The 10000XL picks up even the most minute dash of my pencil without any post scanning manipulation (Photoshop). Although I've scanned mostly pencil drawings I have scanned nearly all my work up to this point, including oil paintings, etchings, engravings, and old photographs. This is a fantastic scanner all-round but particularly good for a traditional media artist. If you can't afford it, then place a wanted on Craigslist and rent usage from someone in your area. Once you see your work scanned by this model you never be able to settle for mediocre scans again.
