I originally purchase Acronis True Image 2009 a year ago. I lived with all of its bugs up until the last release. I was moving to Windows 7 and determined that Acronis was not going to update True Image 2009 to be compatible and that you were forced to upgrade to True Image 2010. I went ahead and downloaded the True Image 2010 Trial Version. After uninstalling True Image 2009 and installing True Image 2010 I created the Recovery CD. As always the first thing to verify was if the Recovery CD would boot and see all of my drives, etc. I have a RAID 1 configuration and it always worked fine with True Image 2009. When I booted to the True Image 2010 Recovery CD it saw my RAID Volume as two drives versus one logical. I knew this was wrong, so I rebooted from my hard drive. What I got next was that the BCD was corrupted and I was unable to reboot. Fortunately I had a backup image and still had and could use the True Image 2009 Recovery CD. If I didn't have a backup and own the prior version I

This backup software from Acronis gives you a (false) sense of security when you make a backup of your system. When your computer crashes and you want to restore that backup - prepare to be completely frustrated! Just google "Acronis unsupported hard drives" to discover all the problems people are having trying to restore their backups with Acronis True Image. Or go to their forums. When I had a complete system crash last month I couldn't restore from a solid backup I had made using True Image Home several days before. I kept getting error messages about my "hardware" and I have a perfectly standard Toshiba Laptop. When I went to the Acronis forums I discovered lots of frustrated customers having the same problem. I contacted their support who assigned a case number and promised to get back me to me with a "prompt solution." It has been a month and I haven't heard a peep from them since! Some support! I finally had to give up and completely reformat my hard drive and reinstall all my

I bought this product to clone a 1 TB hard drive to replace my 360 GB drive C. The product installed without any problem. The instructions very great and very intuitive. Acronis Ture Image Home 2010, which was just released works with Windows 7. Acronis has many other features, which I am sure I will use.

...then you'd better figure out something nice to say. Something, anything...even if you hated the product. Sort of like the film critic whose honest opinion appears in the full review in the newspaper, but who also throws out a few nice-sounding adjectives which might get quoted in ads for the film (putting the critic in the "spotlight"). Caveat emptor. If the quote consists of only one or two words, you'd better try to find the entire review. Acronis is clunky but not entirely useless. If you never need to do more than a partial restore, you're in luck. If you need to restore your entire hard drive from scratch? And all you have is the backup you created with Acronis? Well...why do you have such unreasonable expectations? I mean, that a product should actually do what it purports to do? The reason you paid for it? The reason you take the time to run it, giving yourself a false sense of security? If your data is important to you? Look elsewhere. As for amazon's page for

I've been an Acronis user for a long time. I decided to upgrade to True Image 2010 from True Image 10 in preparation for upgrading to Windows 7. I'm running Vista SP2 32 bit on a Dell XPS M1530. This setup has been running very well for me without any problems for over a year. However, this install gave me a blue screen of death right at the end of the install process. A quick search on Google showed that many people were complaining of this problem. Following advice I found from the search, I ended up uninstalling my old version of True Image 10 and using Regedit to manually remove registry settings this install added. This time the software installed. I thought I was home free. I was wrong. After rebooting and running I got another blue screen of death. I went to the Acronis site to get support and found that I had to PAY TO GET SUPPORT!!! There is no email nor a phone number for support unless you pay! There are support forums, but it's entirely self service and not well monitored by

I have been using this product to clone systems for the past year. Now this does offer other features, but the only one I have used is the cloning. I have a dozen systems at home (6 kids)and I am frequently playing with new configurations. With my kids systems I pop in once every few weeks and plug in the external hdd and boot to the acronis boot CD and make a new image. Usually takes less than a half hour. On my "play" system I have 6 different loads and an Acronis image of each one. This program has never failed to work flawlessly and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for an effortless backup system.

This program seems to work great BUT the cable that came in this package ordered from AMAZON is a USB 1.1 so far the program says it will take over 12 hours to transfer a handful of programs to my new VISTA PC. There are cheaper options right here on AMAZON that also sell this package with this 1.1 cable but for some reason I thought AMAZON had the newer product with the USB 2 cable, NOT SO.

I installed Acronis True Image 2010 on my Windows XP service pack 3 Dell computer. After installation, many of the other programs on my computer just stopped working. I tried to uninstall Acronis and it didn't work. Don't believe for a minute that you can simply uninstall Acronis and have your computer go back to what it was before you made the mistake of installing it in the first place. I run a small business and I needed to have my computer up and running again quickly the way it was before. I just couldn't figure out how to uninstall Acronis so I ended up contacting a Microsoft technician. After quite some time, he was finally able to get rid of True Image from my computer. Even he had a hard time removing it and getting my computer working properly again. Unfortunately for me, even though the Microsoft tech finally got Acronis off my computer, I ended up losing a bunch of data, mostly financial info, but also some mail-merge addresses, etc. It took me a while but I was able

I researched backup programs for XP and got this one for my mother in laws XP machine. I have over 35 years experience working in the software development field so I'm not a novice. So far this software is terrible. After having to type in a 64 digit hexadecimal key three times to get it right, finishing the install, and starting to setup the software, her machine crashed into the XP black screen with text and the crash info. I had to restart in Safe Mode and remove the software to keep from crashing. I only had 90 minutes (which should have been plenty) to set this up so I had to give up. As soon as I can find a few more free hours I'm going to try once more to install this software and get it setup to work before returning it for a refund. I don't need it to do anything fancy, just backup her drive to a new external drive I installed so she will be covered when her internal drive eventually crashes. PS. I bought this on my wife's amazon account so she's not reviewing this, I am - JK

I guess that people were having problems with the previous version of this program. This version works perfectly on Windows XP SP3. I backed up my two disk RAID system and restored it to a new RAID array without any problems whatsoever. Things that I like are, the backups are very fast, and the scheduling is cool too. Infinitely better than Norton Ghost.

True Image 2010 worked reliably for me, including 2 actual bootable hard-drive restorations. I've been using Acronis True Image in several versions over the years, and the previous 2009 edition was the nadir of their product line. For me at least, Acronis has redeemed themselves after the erratic and dangerous-to-your-data behavior of their last edition. Pros: Disk imaging for TOTAL disk restoration capabilities, full and incremental backup, selective directory/file type data backup, editing capability of the backup image, back-up image mounting as a logical drive for easy viewing and cut & paste from image to other drives with Windows Explorer, live backup (use computer while backing), recovery manager in conjunction with Acronis Secure Zone (restoration of operating system drive while still having use of computer), bootable CD with backup and recovery capabilities, bootable from image of disk. Cons: None that I could find so far. I am suspicious that uninstalling may be an issue,

I wish that I had an opportunity to read something like the following before I purchased Move2Mac last week. 1. Before you buy and download or break the seal on a box of Detto's Move2Mac, read this first. 2. Do you need Move2Mac? After being unable to move files with this software, I tried to do it manually. I moved iTunes files, photo/video files, and word processing files from an old Windows XP/SP3 machine to a new iMac using a USB flash drive and the import functions of Apple Snow Leopard and application software. For other types of files, try a file moving test. For more information, see "Switch 101: Migrate Your Files or your Windows System" on Apple support. 3. Visit Detto's website and read everything on it about Move2Mac before buying or using it. In particular read the online manual, review the support pages, and read the warranty conditions. The latter require that you request technical support before requesting a refund. Some of the support files appear to be out of date.

I purchased the 3 PC version of Rebit in April 2009 after searching for an Apple Time-Machine like solution for my PC. As advertised, Rebit is easy to setup and get running. However, make sure you check the Rebit backup to ensure it is backing up all your files. In my case, I found that Rebit did NOT backup my Outlook PST files. This is a big deal to me as most of my important data is actually stored in my e-mail. I made 4 attempts to contact Rebit support before getting a response. Once I did get in touch with someone, they were courteous but not able to resolve my problem. Finally, I was told that the Rebit developers would have to get involved to trouble-shoot and resolve this issue. As of writing this review, an resolution has not been developed. I can not recommend Rebit to anyone because of this issue.

I've had little luck getting Acronis True Image Home to create and validate a back-up of files on my system. The system consists of a Gateway SX2800-01 (Intel Core 2 Quad running on Windows Home Premium 64-bit) and an external Western Digital MyBook harddrive connected via USB2. I have ATI Home set up to run daily incremental back-ups. Sometimes the increments are created and sometimes the back-up fails (about 60 -40%). The cause of the problem is a "cannot read Sector 63 error". If you Google this error or visit the Acronis website you will discover that this is a bug in the program. [I have run CHDSK, etc and have found no bad sectors on either the PC or the external harddrive]. I also checked the "Ignore Bad Sectors" and "Don't show messages and dialogs during processing (silent mode)" boxes in the ATI settings but the "Sector 63" error is not ignored. I attempted to install the latest update for ATI Home 2009 [build 9796] - hoping this would eliminate the problem. After getting

Only good for one use and that's not disclosed. With that kind of disclosure policy up front poor customer service can be expected. After the first "move" I used my wireless network for the other three computers I am switching over. Googled "transfer data and setting from pc to mac" and followed the instructions! Anyone can transfer data on a network but the settings, email set up, etc. is what I had hoped the software would do. It didn't.

Why is all backup software garbage? Nero's attempt is a real stinker too. We're greeted with wonderful cryptic error messages at every turn. "Server Busy, Action can't be completed because the server is busy." They give you two choices [Switch to...] which pops up the start menu and [Retry] which does nothing. If you you're the patient type after about 5 minutes of [Retry] the Backup app will finally open. It goes down hill from here. The backups routinely fail with cpp errors. "Assertion failed". Now it's stuck. It thinks one of the failed backups is running and it refuses to start it, even after a reboot. Garbage. Stinky garbage. I wish these idiots had to rely on their own backup software. (You KNOW they don't) I'd just love to stick a magnet on the hard drive of their office server and sit back and watch as they try to restore using their own crappy software. That show might be worth the price of admission, the software certainly isn't.

Acronis Backup worked flawlessly when I changed drives. I had no issues making an image and restoring my newer 320 gb hard drive. Really saved me a lot of work.

I've used many minimizers over the years and this is by far the best. It's comfortable even after a long day, has great coverage, and looks very natural - it doesn't give you that squished sports bra look.

Ok, I refer to Backup tool that came with Nero 8. BUT since Nero have not released a fix to that version it's reasonable to assume that it is still broken. Otherwise Nero have cheated earlier customers by providing software not fit for its purpose. There were several reports of the same type of failure (only visible in log file, C-based errors), so it was not an isolated case. Furthermore a respondent in one report claimed to be a Nero Employee (but offered no fix). So be safe and don't buy this.

Isn't it a cardinal sin that a software you buy to protect you against failure causes a catastrophic failure itself? That's what happened to me with this piece of crap software (excuse my French). After following its instructions to install the Recovery Manager, I got a error message that syas "NTLDR is Missing" upon reboot. It wants you to hit Ctrl-Atl-Del, and when you did, it just loops back to the same error message. Basically, the Acronis software has managed to ruin the Master Boot Record of my hard drive and rendered my PC unbootable. I Googled this and it seems to be a common issue. And the fix is not for the light hearted. The funny thing is, the instructions given by Acronis's own technician on their own web site were actually not that useful. After literally a few hours of trial and errors (and working into 3am in the morning trying to recover my hard drive), I finally bumped into this link: [...] As you can see, the steps are not for your normal non-technical person
