World of Goo - Windows
Have you ever seen a US Cellular commercial? If not, you're lucky because you're missing a stomach turning spectacle. The ads are engineered to pluck your heartstrings with some totally corny and improbable emotional story. After wiping away your tears at the heartrending scenario, you realize that they were just trying to sell you a lousy cell phone. They used a touching story about helping grampa find meaning in his life to pitch me a cell phone plan? I want my emotion back! What a rip off! I don't appreciate being tricked into caring about some dumb product.
"World of Goo" will not do that to you. There's just nothing fake about it to leave you feeling disappointed or underwhelmed. It is authentically beautiful in every way. The gameplay is utterly unique. The story is silly and fun and well written and creative. The graphics are expressive, colorful, and buttery smooth on my average computer. The music is hauntingly catchy. The sound effects are perfect. The two independent guys

The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes: Mac/Windows
I'm a big Sherlock Holmes fan, and I love video games. I've never been the type to play casual games, and this game is definitely that: a casual game. Take 15-20, play a case, walk away. No investment at all.
Each case starts with a little introduction from the characters (voice acting is alright, not the best, could be worse), and from there you go to a location in London where a crime was committed. Each crime scene consists of the same 2 elements: a "compare this scene with the one from the day before," where you find things in one half of the screen that are different from the same scene on the other half. Imagine the back of a Highlights magazine, and there it is. The next element is a "find these items in this scene," where you have to find everything listed on the side of the screen in the room you are looking at. Hunt and peck, pixel hunt, find the four scraps of paper, or three lock-picking tools, etc. Within those activities, you might find a little puzzle, such as putting

Luxor 4 : Quest for the Afterlife - Windows
After ZUMA's success, a number of clones appeared - but the LUXOR series is the one that actually improved on some aspects of the concept. As the series progressed, LUXOR games became more and more self-reliant. With LUXOR 4 the franchise flexes its own muscles.

A series of colored balls (with the number of different colors increasing every few levels) gets pushed and you have to match them in sets of three or more in order to remove them - and prevent them from reaching the end zone. Instead of having the "shooter" in the center, it is located at the bottom and it slides left and right. This makes for some quite difficult shots (especially when obstructed by the advancing row of balls) and raises the difficulty of the game.
On the other hand, the power-ups are more powerful, at the end of every round a number of coins and gems drop and "catching" them add lives to your paddle. It seems pretty straight-forward yet it can become highly...addictive!

Compared to the previous installment

World of Goo - Windows
This is a puzzle type game unlike any other. You basically work against the laws of gravity and physics while trying to get your balls of goo from point A to point B by building structures with them. The imagination and creativity that went into this game is unbelievable. The 2D graphics are gorgeous and the music, atmospheric. Although somewhat vague, there is a story that ties the puzzles together and it adds some humor to the events that unfold as you progress, especially toward the end. This is a game that has to be played to be fully understood because it is hard to describe. I thoroughly enjoyed this and didn't want it to end. I still go back and play some of my favorite levels.

One final note: This ia a computer friendly game. Easy to install, small file size and most importantly, no DRM.

World of Goo - Windows
Intro:
The game, as amazing as it sounds, was created by two people who used to work at EA. In general the game can be described as a physics puzzle game and has been compared to the Fantastic Contraption flash game, among others. It is, however, a game unlike any other and offers excellent gameplay, beautiful art, and epic music. It received the "Design Innovation Award" and the "Technical Excellence Award" at the 2008 Independent Games Festival.

Gameplay:
The game is controlled entirely by the mouse. Building goo towers is as simple as dragging and dropping goos to form links with other goos. The goal of every level is to get goos into the Goo Corporation pipe, but the similarities between levels really stop there.
It is amazingly satisfying to build up a giant tower, bridge a huge chasm, or explode a bomb all with simple goos. Add to the game the puzzle aspect and the many "aha" moments you will experience and it becomes intellectually fun and challenging as well.

Story:

The Magicians Handbook: Cursed Valley - Windows
I've played a bunch of hidden objects games and this is one of my favorites. As another reviewer said, some of the items are a little hard to find and some of the words (in the word game) are hard to find, but overall I think it's one of the better hidden objects games and recommend it. I did need help in the last round of the game though, but this isn't the first game I've needed help with either (for those of you who've played, think Madame Fate puzzles).

Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile: Windows
I purchased the previous Agatha Christie games: And Then There Were None, Murder On The Orient Express, and Evil Under The Sun and enjoyed all three adventure games. I thought that Death On The Nile was a lower-priced similar game in the series. It's not! I played this hidden object game before as a download. The cover makes it look deceptively like the other role-playing games. I've bought over a thousand items on Amazon.com and this is the first time I've felt ripped off.

Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile: Windows
First, a caveat. This is a hidden object game -- that is, game play consists of searching through various scenes to find a list of objects hidden in the landscape, while the story of "Death on the Nile" plays out in the background. It is NOT an adventure game in which you interview suspects, collect evidence, and solve puzzles, like the other Agatha Christie games that have been published recently.

That being said, it does what it does quite well. The scenes are well designed and game play is challenging without being impossible. It's actually quite amusing -- as long as you weren't expecting an adventure game, that is.

Art of Murder: FBI Confidential: Windows
OK, my first clue that this wasn't going to be a great game was that there is only one loading disk and the whole thing loaded in less than 2 minutes. There is not much detail, the puzzles are pretty easy, and there is not much that can be looked at. The only things that can be examined are the objects that are to be used. This makes deciding what you need to collect to solve a puzzle a "Duh". Navigation is good, and I didn't run into any glitches, just not what I consider a good challenging complex game.

Fishdom - Windows
Fishdom is a great game if you have time to kill. I got hooked playing it on the many airplane trips I take for work and find myself rushing to the hotel to play some more. As you play more and more, you unlock new fish.

Fishdom - Windows
I found this game too addictive, swimming through over seventy levels during my two week holiday recently, enjoying creating each unique fish tank as it was unlocked and then using it as a screensaver, love it, love it, love it!

The replay value on this game is pretty good for the price. As a hard core gamer, it isn't the type of game I pencil in blocks of time to play like XBox, rather when checking E-mail throughout the week, I find myself playing a few levels. It is a great game for a 5 minute break at work while sipping some coffee.

Art of Murder: FBI Confidential: Windows
"The Art of Murder: FBI Confidential" is a game with plenty of potential, but it never lives up to its promise. You play as Nicole Bonnet, a rookie FBI agent who is assigned to a series of grisly homicides in New York City. It seems like the point-and-click adventure format would be perfect for this kind of investigation, but the game undercuts this at every turn. There are several reports, including blood tests and dental records, but the player is never allowed to actually look at them. There are also chemical tests which involve nothing more than sticking a sample in a test tube and waiting for the answer to magically appear on-screen. Even the dialogue has been simplified; there are no dialogue trees and no choices for what to say to the other characters. This is a detective game that eliminates all the actual detection.

Puzzles range from easy to frustratingly illogical. One puzzle involves combining inventory items to fix a cell phone. Unfortunately, this task can only be performed

Secrets of Great Art - Windows
Being truly addicted to hidden objects games as they don't take too much brain power but accomplish the escape from reality world that I am seeking I was delighted to discover this game. Secrets of Great Art has more hidden objects than your standard games of this genre and is much longer. My only complaint was that it wasn't longer. It kept me interested but didn't get too complicated or tricky, besides being able to view some beautiful paintings. Yes, I say get it.

Dream Chronicles - Windows
This game was easier than some, but still had its tough parts. Very good graphics and game play. The only thing wrong with this game is it could have gone on a few hours longer!

The Magicians Handbook: Cursed Valley - Windows
I like the game even though the objects are somewhat child like to find and the words that you need to find to cast spells are sometimes difficult. There are times when some of the objects are not what we expect them to look like. I would buy it or give it as a gift for those who like these type of games.

Dream Chronicles - Windows
This product was purchased for my 12 year old granddaughter. She enjoyed playing it but she finished it to fast. I think it would be more appropriate for younger children.

Loved this game, and if you like to solve puzzels then this is a good game. I did have a problem with sometimes it getting stuck. don't know if it is the game or the computer.

Art of Murder: FBI Confidential: Windows
I thoroughly enjoyed this game and was sad when it ended. Yes, it was linear but it helped me from getting completely confused. I'm a gamer that finds all the clues first in all areas and eventually have to find a way to use them. If you don't find all the clues than you must before you can get to the next level. There were a few spots that I had to use a walkthrough, if I didn't I would have gone bald from pulling my hair out to find the solution. Overall, it's a fun game for the novice point and click gamers and more advanced ones too. I only had one bug in the game but it seem to resolve itself.

futureU - Windows & Macintosh
I picked this up on Mac and Nintendo DS after seeing the game discussed on the Today Show. My son loves video games and doesn't love prepping for the SAT so I figured I'd give anything a shot to help him get that prepping in. I have to say so far so good! He's spent actual TIME STUDYING which is more than I can usually say and I've enjoyed playing it a little bit to get familiar with the questions all over again. The game looks really good - it's not the typical drilling offered in other test prep. There is a light story line that keeps you motivated to continue playing and a fun character you can customize. So overall, a super way to prep for the SAT at a great price when you consider how much all the other stuff costs!

futureU - Windows & Macintosh
I bought this last week without doing much research, but knowing that it looked like a fun way for my son try and get some SAT prep under his belt since he isn't really into the "traditional" software or the class instruction. Well..I am pleasently surprised on how great this thing is! he is been goign through this game for the past couple days and really is enjyoing the way the questions and the game is presented. He said, "I don't feel like im just doing prep, but its actually pretty fun". So all and all this was a great purchase! Plus, its been really fun for me and my wife to sit down and actually try to answer the questions and play with the game to see how we would do if we were to sit down and take the test! Not so good! :0 HIGHLY recommend this product and really think you should invest in this title for your kids and for some plain old family fun because its def. a lot of fun and very beneficial!
