Bioshock: Windows
I literally just finished Bioshock less than 10 minutes ago and I am almost ashamed to admit I played it. The graphics while mind numbingly gorgeous and the effects incredible, a game needs more than simply being pretty to be entertaining. The voice acting is also very well done with lines and voice-overs that aren't the typical "CUTSCENE! TURN OFF THE SPEAKERS QUICK!" type. However, the combat system is terrible, the creatures take tons and tons of ammo to kill, but ammo is very hard to come across. So for the majority of the game you carry a wrench around trying to hit things that are running and shooting at you. The "adaptive learning" system that was so boasted about showed nothing different in my play experience. The creatures still ducked/bobbed/weaved the same as the beginning. After the 10 hours I just spent, I demand a refund or raincheck for those 10 hours wasted. Bioshock gets nothing more than a 3 out of 10.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Windows
Homeworld was good in its time but its time to retire that game and say hello to a newer, bigger, better and superior game called Sins of a Solar Empire. A true TBS meets RTS game and the best mix of these two genres I have ever seen. Excellent single or multiplayer. One of the toughest computer AIs ever made. Beautiful graphics, some of the best space battles I have ever seen. Looks like it was ripped out of a top notch sci-fi flick. Capital ships are the coolest looking things and they are huge! Tiny fighters zip around them like ants just wait until you zoom in on the action. Superb replayablity, every galaxy in each scenario is randomly generated. The you can even customize your own with in game settings. Stop reading, add to cart and buy it, I will promise you will NOT be disppointed.

Turok: Windows
Yes, this game does feature a pretty forgettable story and standard FPS gameplay but it does feature dinosaurs as well. So that's 2 strikes and a single or more depending on your level of fascination with dinos. But really is there more than about 5-7 games across genres newly released at any one time that do have non standard stories or gameplay? Doom 3 doesn't feel too much different than this in terms of story(without the horror) but the graphics were next gen for it during it's time although it got old real quick.

99% of games are never worth retail these days and I pity those console suckers who pay the hefty $60 per game and around $350 for the "mid-range" console. Of course I envy them mightily for GTA4!

This game is not worth more than about $25 or half it's PC msrp. The jungle textures are pretty lame on average but I thought the dinos and people were pretty respectable. I never had any crashes and it loaded up at a decent rate. I use the auto save at checkpoints, which seemed

Assassin's Creed: Windows
A few reviewers summed up this game very well. I just wanted to nod my head in agreement...

Excellent Graphics, Nice open ended gameplay, Good voice acting. Play control is not too bad (takes a while to get used to).

Boring, repetitive missions and slow story line. Game gets old after a few hours.

Assassin's Creed: Windows
Save your money. I have tried to find something positive to say about this game but I can't. This has to be one of the worst games I have played in years (and I play them all). It is unimaginative, repetitive, quickly becomes boring and frustrating after you (and I am not exaggerating) do the same missions 30 times, climb the same towers 50+ times, see the same graphic cutaway 50+ times, save the same person in the crowd 30+ times, etc. Also you are not completely "playing" the game, every 15 minutes or so it cuts away to a poorly written hack story line that you are forced to sit through. The sad part is this had the potential to be something great open world design and fairly good graphics. To be perfectly honest I am bitter and angry that I spent 50 bucks on this garbage of a game. Ubisoft should be embarrassed of this release and fire the designers.

Combat Mission - Shock Force ( Windows )
What you get out of this game, like anything, will depend on what your expectations are. Presuming that you are approaching this title for the same reasons that people approached the first three CM titles, and for the same reasons that the developers claim to have published the game, this reviewer feels you will likely be disappointed. That reason would be to find a playable, entertaining, perhaps even thought-provoking squad-based, company level tactical 3D wargame.

The positives; CM:SF at its most basic level seems like its predecessors. The player is presented with an open ended game with a map editor, scenarios, a linked-scenarios game option, and a random scenario generator. Play is still turn-based, with 1 minute "movies" interspersed with orders phases in which both sides give orders. Play is resolved simultaneously. Even board game designers knew that "Si-Move" was more realistic than sequential turns back in the early 1970s. Additionally, those Zombie-critters in the first CM

Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 Suite - Windows
Even with care to remove any competing or conflicting drivers, 2 gig of RAM, fresh audio and video cards, this product made my system crash. With this much negative feedback, this is apparently a problem with the product's design. Free upgrades to something that functions should be offered, and Amazon should remove it from their shelves. Sonic should be ashamed of themselves.

Bioshock: Windows
This game is a really awesome game. The story starts off with a bang and does not stop during the rest of the game. It continues to keep you on your toes. Graphics are nice. You get more powerful through upgrading plasmids which are the highlight of the game. It really is true that you and your friend will play the game completely different. So many choices make a replay just as good as the first time around. I have had no problems with running it, just make sure you meet the recommended requirements and you should be fine. Have a friend who plays it on a PIV 3Ghz, 7900, and it runs fine. It depends on more than just graphics card and processor though. As for the activation problem, I did not have any problem. But not too good if you do not have internet. I know it will probably make the pirates mad. Excellent game, you have to experience the game of the year.

Half-Life 2: Episode Pack: Windows
I know that this is supposed to be a review of the game, and I appologize, but I could not get the episodes to load from the disk. The printed installation instructions say to select the episodes to install from the menu, but the menu has no installation items. If you select the "play" option, Steam web contact is initiated but the episode does not appear on the Steam menu as "installed". You can install the episode from the Steam menu, but it indicates a 3 day 11 hour download time (I have only dial-up). The reason I bought the DVD was to avoid having to download the episodes. I do not know if the games are on the disk, something is certainly on it as it is full.
This is just an incredible waste of time and money. I have been able to load and play Half-Life 2 in the past, but Steam seems to have become even more difficult than originally. Half-Life 2 was the greatest game and I have nothing but admiration for it, but no game is worth this frustration. If you have broadband you

Turok: Windows
The $50 I shelled out for this game was a total waste of money. The graphics are mediocre (I'm running an Nvidia 8800 GTS, so it's not my card). Gameplay is lame, and there are bugs. The main one is the in-game Save key(F5) doesn't work. I tried re-mapping the key, but it didn't help. Gameplay is choppy. I ran CRYSIS and BIOSHOCK with no problems. Pass this one by.

Overclocked: A History of Violence: Windows
I'm a huge adventure game fan. I love the games where you get to meet characters, have a mystery to solve and get to use your mind to get to the end of the game, rather then gunplay. What I found different about this game is the character development and backstories. Very well thought out and the characters have depth to them. The plot was a lot of fun and you wanted to see what came next, but like I said the characters are what really drew me into this one! It was like reading a good book you couldn't put down! Highly recommended for any adventure player!

Sins of a Solar Empire: Windows
SINS is a fun game that pits you against 1-7 opponents. You can play vs. people or computers or a combination. You can also team up and play cooperatively. The AI is pretty good, so adds a bit of challenge without just having the computer pump out tons of ships to compensate for terrible AI.
The built in game updater is handy since they send out a patch about once a month so far. I like the changes they have made so far.
Overall, the game is fun to play. I think if you aren't into RTS and strategy, you may get turned off by SINS. With the latest patches, you can speed parts of the game up (like ship speed) so the game doesn't drag on so long.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Windows
First off, this game is not a "Master of Orion" style game in any way. It's far more comparable to Homeworld -- it's a space based RTS game.

Like most RTS games, the tech trees are fairly shallow with limited options and units are not customizable beyond researching new techs for them. There are three fairly similar races which are also not customizable.

However, it's not all bad news.

Although you'll likely be spending a lot of focus on overseeing large battles between fleets, there's also a lot of room to conduct secondary operations -- sending smaller strike teams out while the enemy is hopefully preoccupied with your main fleet. A lot of RTS games simply don't reward this sort of thing very well but in Sins, it opens up a lot of strategic options.

Multiplayer is integrated and well supported, including a feature that lets you save and resume multiplayer games. This is something that RTS gamers have been asking for for years.

Games can easily last several hours, depending on

Bioshock: Windows
You were always meant to do great things, but sometimes that means terrible things along the way. So it goes when you embed a golf club into a poor sap's head.

I knew *BioShock* was going to be a good shooter from the get-go. Developed by folks behind the System Shock series, it crash-lands the player into a modern day Atlantis... and the middle of a civil war.

Built as a capitalist utopia, the city of Rapture fell into a Darwinian dystopia. For Rapture is also the test bed for radical stem cell technology. Unregulated use devolves the inhabitants into half-mad Splicers, while armored Big Daddies escort genetic scavengers.

Up front, *BioShock* isn't a revolutionary shooter. Every gameplay element has been done a dozen times before. And like all FPS titles, *BioShock* follows a predictable game path: there is one way forward, it ends at a gate, and you'll be betrayed, ambushed, captured, or lose your weapons en route. Along that route, you'll see bloody tableaus, leaping monsters, and

ESET NOD32 3.0 Antivirus System - Windows DVD
One of the things that attracted to me Nod32, is the fact that it will work on Windows XP Pro x64 edition. However, I would like to point out, that I bought mine as a download on there website. Before you download, they give you choice on if you need an x32 or x64 version. So far ESET sells the only x64 XP anti-virus software that I know of, where you do not need to buy like 5 user clients worth of a corporate version, such as Mcafee or Norton.
Another thing to note is that ESET's costumer service is top of the line. Unlike other major Anti-Virus Software providers, ESET's Customer and technical support services are based in North America. On top of that they have really good response times to questions. When I sent an e-mail asking if NOD32 would work on my x64 bit Machine, About 15 minutes later I got a phone call from one of their representatives saying it would work, and if I would like, they would talk me through their website to purchase the correct version.
If you

The Orange Box: Windows
Beware. A lot of people on here selling "New but opened" copies of orange box are actually selling registered copes and Valve (in their infinte wisdome) refuse to transfer licences from one customer to another (in violation of the "First Sale" doctrine of copyright law).

DO NOT BUY a used copy except from an 'authorized valve reseller' (whoever that is, apparently not Amazon, unfortunately).

Bioshock: Windows
This is a fun game, no doubt. But it does create a counterfeit-protection registry alteration the you cannot get rid of. While it's not really a root-kit, it is darn close. I don't pirate games and I don't appreciate my system being infested with gestapo software to foil a few pirates.
I would have bought this game today if it was clean. Since it isn't, the game stays with them and my money stays with me.

Crysis: Windows
I've been big fan of Far Cry and figured with all the talk of beefy system requirements for Crysis that my old XP /2.8/ 1gb/6600GT machine wouldn't be able to run it. I downloaded the demo and it worked fine, so I got it this weekend. Its a very cool game, granted much of the eye candy is on its lowest setting, but there is no issue with low FPS, totally playable. Even on the low settings the graphics are pretty impressive.

I'm just starting the game, but I recommend this game if you like First Person Shooters. Download the demo first if you're not sure you system will run it properly.

Riddle Of The Tomb - Windows
This is a traditional point-n-click adventure set in Egypt at the time of Cleopatra. The game comes on one DVD which has to remain in the drive during play.

You play in first person as Thomas, an apprentice astrologer. You find your girl, Iris, and her father, Akkad, have disappeared. The object of the game is to find out what happened and why and track them down.

Control is mouse only.

Graphics are good standard, with flowing water. The game is in 3D.

Ambient sounds are well done. Voice acting merely so-so. Lines seemed rushed on several occasions. The story kept me interested even if the characters didn't.

Puzzles are mainly inventory based though there are some logic puzzles. All are well integrated into the Egypt of the time. I managed to complete the game without resorting to a walkthrough, so they are on the easy side of difficult. Solving the puzzles gave a cut scene, nicely done.

Game length was disappointing. There are three venues, Akkad's garden, Royal library and Alexandria

Interesting game, bit straightforward with little surprises and not that difficult to finish. For the experienced adventurer it's a few hours' gameplay. The cinematics are nice, the environments nicely detailed. An overall interesting game, though a bit short and easy.
